The square is a remarkable example of socialist modernist architecture. Plečnik’s pupil Edvard Ravnikar designed it in 1960 as the centre of modern Ljubljana, on a site previously occupied by the extensive gardens of the Ursuline convent. A group of architects led by Ravnikar worked on the square from 1962 until 1982.

Very nice square that is surrounded by an impressive brutalist style buildings, and one of the most important buildings, the Slovenian Parliament is located here. Worth the visit.

It's a huge square with some statues around it. There is also parlament beside and national Bank. It is different from the other side of the Ljubljana. Place also usually host protests and different events. In the summer time it's usually occupied by skaters and bikers

A wide open space. Has history and architectural story behind the planning, but someone has to explain it to you. There's a nice chillout place under the big threes on the opposite side of the mall.

Lots of the walking directions were longer and inaccurate. There were many constructions in the beautiful city, obstructing good photos. Walks recommended as almost everything is reachable and many sites free. Lovely city; I'd recommend and take another visit. Many people there seem not used to seeing people of colour... interesting.

Open area, free to visit. The park is lean and free of birds, so you can sit in the shade of the trees in the summer.

A nice-modern big square in the hearth of Ljubljana. Square where you find important government buildings. Nice place to stay in the sun.

Great thing about visiting this place is that the parking lot is underneath the square. Also, very nice place to stop for coffee.

Very different from the rest of the city, worth seeing even if it's not for the beauty of the place but more for the architecture.

Main square in LJ where people protest essentially, it's surrounded by Socialist buildings and monuments to Slovenia. So for fans of this architecture it's great, but for other tourists maybe they can skip it. Just about 10 minutes from main city center.

A square, that would otherwise probably be quite unremarkable, but next to it is the Slovenian Parliament. It hosts protests and, but rarely, some other events, otherwise it's empty or filled with skaters and some random people.
