The hostel is close to the centre, but also close to some noisy pubs. The caretaker, Alexandra is rude, not suitbale for working with people. Her attitude towards my students reminded me of a wicked witch or rather a dragon.

Absolute best Hostel I've stayed in. Very clean and nice facilities. Our hostel receptionist/possible owner, Alex, was the absolute friendliest and most helpful person. She went out of her way to explain to us what to do in Slovenia and how to save money. A gem of a person and a gem of a place. A must stay!

Best hostel I’ve ever been to. The receptionist is the most kind person and recommends many things to do - she also helps the guests to meet each other. We met many people and had the best time. Clean, modern and just fantastic. Maybe a little hot on the top bunks at night but I slept well. 10/10.

Great place to stay in Ljubljana, the location is excellent, close to the old town, supermarket and bakery. The bedrooms and bathrooms are adequate and clean, the kitchen is well equipped (but I missed a toaster). Aleks, who takes care of everything, is very friendly and helpful.

Owner made me feel very unwelcome. **** The accommodation itself is clean and thankfully I met really nice people in my hostel room. I am giving a low rating because the owner Alex made me feel so unwelcome when I arrived. I had booked to stay at this hostel for 3 nights and unfortunately was not able to make it on the first evening due to flight delays. I called the owner to let her know that I would be arriving early the next morning which she said was fine. When I arrived I asked if I could check into my room as I had it booked for the previous evening and the next two nights. The owner told me she had given the room to someone and when I queried this she stated "that's your problem, not mine". This all took place at 8.30am and I was told I couldn't check into the room now but could check back in at 2pm. I was directed to put my luggage downstairs and advised that I could sit in the lounge if I wanted to before heading out for the day. After 5 minutes, Alex came to tell me that the person she had checked into my room had now "checked out" and I could check in. When I went to the room, clearly no one had stayed in the room that night as there were two empty beds in the room. I feel this whole situation was fabricated for reasons I am not sure of. When travelling solo and experiencing travel delays, there is nothing better than arriving at a hostel and being made to feel welcome. I had the exact opposite experince here and for that reason would not recommend this place.

Very clean hostel, nice bathrooms and dorms. Hostess looks like Beate Zschäpe, but is very nice and can give you good recommendations about the town and places to party. Great experience would go there again.

We experienced real hospitality here from Aleks, the incredible lady who runs the hostel. She gave us great recommendations during a friendly and entertaining check-in, which cheered us all up immediately after a long rainy day. She was the true heart and soul of the hostel, and took care of everyone so kindly, from making jokes out of everything, to finding a way to blend spices for us when we were struggling to cook an elaborate meal! The dorm beds are very comfortable, and the rooms are spacious. We were given a padlock for our locker at check-in, and a towel. The bathrooms are clean and private, and the kitchen is large and well-equipped. Laundry is available, and Aleks was even able to dry our non dryer-suitable clothes separately for us! The location was ideal, it was close to the river in the centre of Ljubljana, but on a quiet street, and close to a supermarket and cash machine. We had a wonderful stay in Hostel Vrba, and we hope to visit again as soon as we get the chance! Recommend 100%!

The owner is an absolute delight - Such a warm welcoming lady - You can tell straight away, as soon as she opens the door, she loves having guests so much and it felt so good... Especially during these times when we all miss hostels and guests so much. Always up for a chat and keen to assist us with the best info about sightseeing and local things to do - She's so good at giving advice, I bet, you'll end up doing everything she says. And please do, it is SO worth it ! A real role-model as a perfect receptionist - She's such a hard-working woman who always makes sure everything is perfect for guests. I'd genuinely recommend this hostel for so many reasons and mostly because you'll have the chance to meet her. Great location, SAFE place with STRICT covid-rules - Everything is SO well-organised with a strong attention to details and cleanliness. Enough showers and bathrooms, which can also be privatised. The kitchen is also well-equipped, it was a pleasure to cook and have dinner there, such a hoomie atmosphere. Thank you for being so lovely - I had the best stay at your hostel, my bed was incredibly comfy. Staying here made us very HAPPY, we were surrounded by love and good positive vibes - So sad I had to leave earlier but thank you again for everything. PS : I wish I could give you more than 5 stars and more than a 10 on Hostelworld, I wish I could tell the world you're a wee star and you deserve more stars than my computer can write. We really loved the hostel and the location,Its too close to center you don't need public transportation if you are on budget. The hostel is so quite and clean. Great stuff and helpful with a lot of recommendations if you don't know what to do in Slovenia,We also had a really hot shower!!

Very nice hostel, very nice staff, very nice beds, very nice furniture. I have some experience with hostels and I definitely love Vrba. It have the real spirit of a place where you can meet people, a good space to cook, and a quiet night. The staff definitely makes this hostel especial since you arrive. They give you good and useful advise of the city places. Thanks for a great time!

Good hostel in a very good location. The hostel is always really clean and the host will give you a lot of useful tips about the city. On the down side, the only common room which is the kitchen, closes at 22.

Nice hostel, very friendly lady at the front desk who had lots of recommendations. The building is a little older, but everything was clean and comfy. Very nice location.

I enjoyed by time in Slovenia and spent 3 nights at this hostel. I originally booked at AdHoc but they had a bed bug infestation so all their bookings were transferred to different hostels. Upon arrival we were greeted by Alex, they were really helpful and friendly and the highlight of the hostel. But the cleanliness was an issue, it was very unclean likely due to the small amount of bathrooms to the amount of people. Kitchen facilities are basic, oven doesn't work. Rooms very warm. Obviously it's a cheap hostel we expected those things and perhaps we got a bad time or whatever. But the main issues were external. The bars across the river are really loud into the early hours of the morning and to stall cool the windows needed to be open, even when closed it was super loud. Then from very early (about 6am) church bells sound for long periods at quite random and frequent times. It meant I was really unable to sleep well throughout the night. Others we met had the same issue.

On arrival I heard the host delivering a guide-worthy pitch of things to visit in Ljubljana and surroundings to a couple of guests, with do's and dont's. You see she loves what she does... Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable. Clean rooms and sanitary. Nice shared kitchen facility. Very satisfied. Only remark: website needs update about (since recently? no longer) special prices at nearby Inn Gostilna Pod vrbo.

Nice place, cosy and very clean! The hostess is incredibly kind. Everytime we entered the building it smelled lovely in there. The kitchen was also very clean. The hostess did our laundry (wash & dry) for 8 euros. She gave us back our fresh laundry, still warm. The location of the hotel is also perfect, very close to the center (but the extra quiet part)
