Predjama castle is located approximately 15-minute drive from the highway E61 and 10 minutes from the Postojna Caves, so it is convenient to visit both in the same day. We purchased combined ticket (Castle+Caves) for approx. 40 EUR per person. Parking was not difficult to find, however we arrived relatively late at around 16:30 (castle was closing at 17:00), so I imagine during the peak hours the situation might be different. There are no guided tours inside the castle, instead you get an audio guide (included in the ticket price) which was available in many languages (at least 15). The explanations were helpful, straight to the point and relatively short, so for me that was one of the best audio guide experience. It took us around 45 minutes to properly explore the castle. Normally castle is open until 17:00 but we were leaving the premises at around 17:15 and no one was pushing us out. It does indeed look magnificent as almost the whole castle is covered by huge rock. You get to explore many different rooms, some of them looking more like caves and others like actual livable rooms. There are some nice viewing points of the valley at several terraces located in the castle. It is definitely worth to visit as there are not many "cave castles" around the world! There are couple of restaurants in the proximity of the castle and restrooms near the parking lot.

This is just an amazing castle …. A dream place full of adventures and surprises in side … bring comfortable shoes and with some grip this place is natural wet … there is not lifts…. The castle is full of hidden corners that takes you to a nice natural cave. You need a car or a tourist bus to reach this place . You must pay for parking per hour. The castle is in the world Guiness records of the largest castle built on a cave. They have audio Guia in many languages. People were polite and nice. You must reserve in advance tickets if you don’t want disappointments specially during summer time.

It was a great experience. I've never seen a castle inside of a cave. The history of it and the unique architecture that is part of it, are also great to listen to. Hard to imagine life over there that time but they did it. If you are somewhere around just turn here and you won't regret it. Nearby is also a small local pub with some local stuff. Thank you🤩

This in my opinion is the best of all the medieval castles in Europe. I haven’t been to them all of course but a lot. This one is quite unique as it is built into the side of the mountain. The engineering from the time for catching water and staving off sieges is incredible. They do a nice job with the decor and the audio guides are great an every informative. The have some nice eating places on the ground with great food. I highly recommend coming to this castle. I have been here four times now and love it every time.

This is just amazing which is definitely on my top list of the castles. Very well organized, audio guide in details, reasonable visit routine with a lot of attractions. Even the kids can enjoy the whole tour which is not easy for sure. Highly recommended!

Absolutely magical place to visit. We got there in the later afternoon and booked an audio tour that leads you through the castle. Very informative and interesting information about such a unique place. Staff were friendly and views from the castle are spectacular. A must see when you are in Slovenia.

It truly feels like you have stepped into a scene from Lord of the Rings or some mythological realm. How someone could have built such a majestic palace inside the mouth of a cave is beyond my imagination. Truly an attraction that you must visit when in Slovenia.

Incredible!! For those who like historical places and medieval stuff, this place offer all of this! We were surprised by the place and the high level of preservation shown. Even the kids - that were naturally skeptical of the place - in the end had so much fun and appreciated very much the place, with the support of the audio guide!

This castle is simply stunning and so is the surrounding area. You have to buy the tickets at the car park. When you get to the castle you get an audio guide. You can choose from several languages. Then just press the numbers of the rooms or parts of the castle. The interior of the castle is not suitable for prams or people who have difficulties with walking as there are many steps inside. Half of the castle is in the rock. It is really amazing and quite unusual. The views of the valley below are spectacular. There are several stalls and restaurants around which offer great views of the castle.

I felt I was transported back in time when visiting. I liked how there were still a lot of original features. One can do a self tour by using their audio device. Very rich and interesting history! Some may find going up and down step’s difficult. We came after a rain so steps were very slippery. The cave section was also closed. We visited in September so crowd size was minimal.

Very interesting castle and history with the included audio guide. There's a decent amount of walking up stairs and through the rooms, but it's evenly spaced with audio guide sections which are numbered to listen. The parking is average an consists of a paved area with about 50 bays. After this fills up, you park in a grassed marshy paddock which is a bit hard to get in and out once more people start coming. Other than that, good castle but make sure you get there early

This medieval castle, which is the largest cave castle in the world, is still intact after 800 years. You'd wonder how they managed to attach a castle to a cave when cement, screws and drills hadn't been invented yet. I had an audio guide explaining different chambers/ rooms. Beware that there are many steps and uneven paths.

A truly unusual place medieval castle Built into the rock. Lots of stairs up and down some of them quite treacherous and steep make sure you have the right shoes. Very well worth the visit. Not far from the Italian city Trieste. Tours available.

It's a typical tourist trap. It's not bad, necessarily, but definitely not worth its price. You have to pay 5€ to park and then another 14€ for the ticket, to see the mostly empty castle. There are few plaques and exhibits, but I think the castle has more to show and tell, than it currently does. It's not all bad. You can definitely see how difficult it would be to take the castle in medieval times. And the exhibits that actually are there, are interesting.

Very cold but typical for the time of year, interesting facts and great views but I don’t think worth this price charged for visiting a heritage site.

A truly amazing Castle with a beautiful view. It was very interesting listening to it’s history (they provide audio players). We bought tickets at the small shop when we arrived. If you visiting with babies make sure you have a carrier or just hold them. Lots of stairs (Castle is inside a cave basically). I cannot imagine living in those times in that Castle, it’s just amazing to picture everything in your head. If you are near by, make sure to make a stop here. Is worth the visit!

Amazing castle build in the rocks. Just imagine the work it should have been in the 13th century. The guided audio tour is awesome and gives you a lot of information. Book this together with the cave and your day is complete.

Great experience exploring on our own. The cave rooms at the top were a nice temperature. Short walk from the parking lot too (just a small incline)

Great experience visiting this historic castle. We got tickets at the door as we visited in low season but I would suggest reserving tickets online to make sure you do not miss out!

Definitely voted this is the coolest castle in Slovenia. The castle itself has partially built with the cave path that made it so cool. And even more with the history of the owner. I personally liked the small gadget that can just tap on the sign and I can listen to the history about specific area in castle. There are plenty rooms to look around even the chapel in it! Highly recommend as a must visit in Slovenia

This was cool to see how the castle was built into the rock. My kids loved listening to the audio guide (included with admission). We didn't linger and we're in and out in about 30 minutes. Since it was winter we were able to park close and it wasn't busy.

Castle was amazing, absolutely loved it. Highly recommend booking tickets online and using your phone for QR codes. When you get the old part of the castle inside the cave, wow. The water capture was very clever. Would love to cone back for some caving here.

Very interesting visit. You learn a lot from that wonderful and special castle. Make sure you take the audio guide. The cost of the parking, 5€, is way too much expensive for what you get, but difficult to find another parking spot.

We really enjoyed visiting this castle. It was in June when we went. There are headsets you can rent for a self-guided tour throughout. I recommend you do this. That way you can move throughout at your own pace.

The castle is a great place to visit, even with kids. There was no line at the entrance but I still recommend buying tickets online to make your experience even smoother. They provide audio guides in many different languages and if you have a stroller, they allow you to leave it at the entrance, next to the staff watching it. Interesting history and overall a great experience

Beautiful castle, worth the drive from Ljubljana. There is a cafe to have lunch or a drink. An audio guide is included with the ticket and it does a good job of telling the story of this castle. There are several flights of stairs to be navigated during the tour.

Very cool medieval castle. You can listen on the guided tour receiver in whatever language you choose. Pretty amazing history. Definitely recommend.

The castle is real wonder and together with the cave adventure (the cave under the castle) it is amazing experience. It will cost you 88 eur, if you are a family with two kids and additional 10 eur for parking. All the rest (caving helmets and audio guide for the castle) is included. If you decide to visit the cave under the castle you need to be properly dressed, the most important are the shoes - hiking shoes or at least sneakers, otherwise they will not let you in (with the reason). The cave is open only during the summer and you can get in at 11 am or 1 pm, you cannot buy tickets for the cave online/in advance. You will need at least one hour for the cave and one hour for the castle. It’s very nice even in rainy weather.

This amazing, state of the art cave Castle has been here for past 800 years. It is totally embedded in to the mountain with direct access to the underground cave system. It is considered biggest cave Castle in the world and also featured in Guinness World Book of Records.

The castle is beautiful, worth to visit it. You have an audio guide which help you to understand the history of the castle. Just maybe try to come early in the morning. The rooms are small and there is a lot of people

Fascinating castle built into a cave. Take your time and enjoy the commentary on the clever self guiding tour. There are quite a few steps but the view from the top inside the cave/Castle is terrific.

Amazing place! I was swept off my feet. A completely unexpected gem of a place. The castle was built right into the mountain side and as such is the biggest cave castle in the world. A beautiful piece of architecture.

A beautiful interesting castle, a nice place to relax, also suitable for families with children, mobile devices are also available for interpretation in different languages when scanning a QR code. Beautiful views of the surroundings, there is also a souvenir shop.

Fantastic castle. I visited it with my family. My children enjoined it much more than many other castles. The audio guide helps to keep visitors interested in what they are seeing, in the castle history and explain many particulars that otherwise may be lost.

Small fortress nested on the side of a cave. Interesting story, limited historical exhibit. Great views, steep indoor stairs climbs. About an hour to one and a half hours gives a good idea about the castle.

  • 4/5 Thomas V. 2 years ago on Google
Nice castle "inside" the Mountain. Audio guides available in a lot of different languages for free. It's also possible to explore the caves under the castle. Note that this is a challenging walk/climb. Too bad there was not much information about this cave tour on the website, so unfortunately we didn't have enough time to do this adventure

Great medieval castle with lots of authentic artifacts to examine and enjoy. Grab your complementary audio guide for excellent country of the Castle and it’s multiple rooms. There are quite a number of steep steps and uneven areas so some of the Castle can prove challenging for some visitors. It is also quite cold and damp in the castle’s and associated caves.

Excellent visit for the day. The audio is really interesting informing you of the history. One of a kind and highly recommend. Restaurants/cafes before you get to the castle and toilets. 5euro parking for a car 10 for a camper van.

Worth a visit. Like everywhere in slovenia its nice to have headphones for the audio guide. And definitely visit the cave under castle its a unique experience and they got bats.

  • 3/5 Dodo K. 1 year ago on Google
Beautiful castle but you could be in for a wait to enter because of crowds. And it gets really crowded inside as they let too many people at once. If you are unlucky and a bus arrives you won't be able to see much from the crowd. And they charge 5€ for parking in a field.

  • 5/5 Stephanie M. 1 year ago on Google
This place is amazing! Truly an architectural feat. Not the ordinary castle you come across in am at places across Europe. This structure was built to compliment the natural caves and has a very lovely history. Very, very unique. Also, I normal find audio guide tours widely boring but this one was wonderful with the exception of a few stops…. You can maybe skip the loo ;). Total tour took less than an hour and was highly entertaining. Underrated location in my opinion (along with Slovenia in general!)

  • 5/5 Robin E. 1 year ago on Google
This is a castle like no one I've seen before. I recommend you to use the audio guide for this visit since it is easy to understand and gives you interesting facts and never gets boring. We arrived an hour before closing and it was probably less crowded than morning or midday.

Great looking castle with a really nice audio guide included in the price and with a free app if you don't want to hold guide by your ear al the time. The guide really gives a nice value as it points a lot of interesting solutions they used in the castle to use the rock and Cave merging with the castle

  • 5/5 Andrea K. 2 years ago on Google
That castle is incredible. Despite of the cold and wet distroy everything, the interior is quite nice. The audio guide opportunity, which is included in the entrance fee, very helpful and informative.
