An absolute highlight! We (two persons) did the long tour with the boat. First it was a bit hard to get a reply from the guides team but just call them and agree on a time and date. Carlo, our guide, is a bit younger and is slowly but surely improving the booking, too. Maybe insist they write down your phone number... But once you have arrive at the cave (parking a bit higher then the entrance on the right side, sign) you will meet Carlo, get your suit, helmet and lamp and a bag if you want to bring a camera, some snacks and a bit of water. I recommend this as your adventure in the cave might well take 6h. You then enter the cave and after a first section of easy walking, already seeing some impressive dripstones you will arrive at your boat. Paddling in the huge cave in the dark on the perfectly calm water, seeing the many human fish and impressive dripstones in the "dwarftland" is truly unique! But is getting even better once you arrive at the "Paradise" - it has it's name for a reason: the natural treasures fill the walls of the entire cave here and you will see the "Jellyfish", the "Octopus", and my personal favorite: the "Bacon"! The best: no fences, no glass, no masses of tourists. Just you in wild underground nature with a guide who will help you get around, make jokes, tell you fun facts and makes you feel safe. However you have to be prepared for some adventure with a bit of commitment to be 6h in the dark. So bring basic fitness and the right attitude. Thank you Carlo for showing us the cave!

Beautiful cave! There is a small parking lot nearby with toilets. The entrance to the first cave is free, but if you want to go deeper, you have to go with a guide.

We did the long boat tour with 3 friends. We really enjoyed it! It was a bit physically challenging since we had to row most of the time, carry the boat and climb a little but the experience was definetely worth it! (But do take the physical challenge into account if you're less fit). We saw an incredible amount of human fish, bats and cave insects and the tour guide was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable! We went very deep into the cave, and doing that for 5,5 hours with a relatively small group really gave a different (and nicer) experience than most other caves I've been to in Slovenia We also got an icecream and powerbar which was really nice. I thought it was really cheap (we payed about 60 euros per person) for the amazing time we had!

Beautiful water cave which houses Europe's largest convolution of underground rivers. Inside this cave, river Rak from Rakov Škocjan joins with river Pivka from Postojna cave and together they form river Unica which then flows across Planina field and disappeares underground again.

We booked the long tour and should be there at 10 AM. Arrived and then "Sorry, it was at 9, you can come back tomorrow! They had my phonenumber, emailaddress but didn't warn me they mad ea mistake!! 1 hour up and back driving for nothing and no plans for the rest of the day. So we did the 5 o'clock tour with a guide and a large group. Interesting, worth the money, but not our goal.

We had an amazing tour and saw a lot of proteus. We were in the caves for 6 hours, which was very cool. The guide was great and showed all that was there to see. Thanks a lot!

We took a 5 hour boat tour and our guide, Dejan, was excellent! He put a lot of effort into finding what we were interested in seeing so that we didn't miss anything. We had so much fun and will never forget this experience. Bear in mind that this tour requires good fitness and surefootedness (part of the trek is over slippery wet clay). Some basic experience with rowing is also necessary.

My friends and I went to Planina Caves in Slovenia. Our guide Carlo, took us about 2km into the heart of the caves and gave us a very interesting summary of the history of parts of the caves. Also if the Olm, a Dragon-like Salamander which lives in these caves. I recommend booking in advance and taking the long tour with the kayaking inside the caves. Unfortunately we didn't know and we only booked the day before and our schedule was very tight. So we had to take the short tour.
