I booked a valuation of some jewellery only to be told that the valuer wasn’t working today and the best thing would be to email him to find out when he’s available. What a waste of time! I only travelled into Cardiff to get the valuation

Went to have a problem with my 1965 Seiko Sea Horse looked at. The service was excellent, very friendly & knowledgeable. The problem was sorted there & then. Excellent.👍

I wanted a diamond ring (as a gift from my partner). Even after trying at many places across town, I was not sure and confident. I wanted something beautiful and pre-owned. Although, it was a busy Saturday afternoon, Pauli made me feel very good and directed me to a gorgeous ring with diamonds and blue sapphires. Even though they didn't provide me with a certificate, since the ring was old, I felt like that I paid some something really valuable and worthy. They also gave me a free of cost resizing and I am waiting to pick it up now. I would highly recommend this family run heritage business to people who are looking for quality service. Thank you.

The service from Jonathan David Jewellers is exceptional. Ordered an engagement ring which had to be made. The ring is stunning. Had the ring engraved. The staff are warm, welcoming and friendly. I dealt with Jonathan and Sarah who were amazing and reassuring to my needs. This jewellers beats any in cardiff city centre. They give a first class service to which you can sit back knowing everything is too hand or finger. Highly recommended. I visited Johnathan David Jewellers to have my grandmother’s engagement ring re-size. I received and absolutely brilliant service, I was so delighted with the results. Lovely, friendly knowledgeable staff. A beautiful range of stock in store :)

I needed two rings altered in size. I found the staff very professional and honest. They took details and advised that I would be contacted and given a cost for the alterations. This was done in the time-frame indicated and cost was sensible for what was required. After confirming to them that I wanted them to proceed I then received another call telling me my jewellery was ready for collection. At all times I was kept advised of all steps and felt totally comfortable leaving my treasured jewellery in their care. Would highly recommend and would use again.

Wonderful service, shop is very welcoming with helpful friendly staff. So glad I called in with my watch. It was a gift from my parents for my 30th birthday, many years ago! We lost mum in 2020 so it's really lovely to be able to wear it again and think of her 🙂 highly recommended.

Went to get a ring resized and fixed due to a flaw a while ago. the staff were polite and said they could do this, although it would need to go to a specialist elsewhere. They then lost the ring and required me phoning asking where the wear about of my ring was- they had not kept track of it- the procedure normally took 2 weeks apparently by this point it had been 3 months. I had to contact them 3 times to get this information. when I finally got it back they had resized it smaller but not fixed the fault and charged me for this. Thus they charged me for the removal of 14 carat gold- which I had requested the additional gold fix the fault. I took it even though it hadn't been fixed- given i wasn't willing to let them loose it again for another month. I later went to a different trusted jeweller who told me they had completely botched the ring resizing it and it was the worst job that they had ever seen on a ring and that I should have never had paid for it. The resizing had initially botched the hallmarks and they had stretched the gold on the ring to stop this issue. its possible they are good in store but if they suggest sending jewellery off to other professionals I would go else where, given they do not keep track of the jewellery and the expert completely messed up my ring- requiring a 250 pound fix. edit: to the response below, your welcome to believe that- but I still have the emails and repair quote lmao? but yeah it definitely wasn't you okay then.

Amazing customer service. I had quite a complicated designed ring that had to be sent off for resizing, I thought it would take quite a while for it to be done and sent back but they managed to have it done and sent back in time for Christmas for me. They let me know every bit of information along the way too. Really appreciated that. Very trustworthy company. Thank you

Following a botched repair by a Hampshire based jeweller, my engagement ring was in a sorry state and I’d stopped wearing it. The team at Jonathan David took the time to understand what I was hoping to achieve and recommended the best course of action to fix my ring. They took the time to discuss my concerns (I was very nervous after my bad experience elsewhere!) I couldn’t be happier with the result. My ring looks as good as new and more importantly fits and feels great, to the point where I never take it off anymore. Thank you to the team, I would definitely recommend them for repairs and resizing.

Sadly when I got to my appointment I was told that the valuer wasn’t in on the day and they had tried to call me. I don’t come into Cardiff very often and had made a special effort so I was quite put out. I received a text message an hour before my appointment reminding me of my appointment so why couldn’t a text messsge be sent to cancel? . Would have saved a lot of hassle! Anyway all said and done I think this is a reputable jeweller so would prob use again. They just need to sort out their communication methods.

Slightly disappointed as first time in town since pandemic and with some disabilities so an effort. Info given not quite as on website or on previous email advice so I left without having my work done. Was much more expensive than I imagined and involved several weeks wait. Could have been told before to save wasted trip.

Very disappointing. Having been a customer at Jonathan David for several years, I booked an appointment for an evaluation at the store. Drove into the city, parked the car to find out the person who undertakes evaluations wasn’t there. Decided to leave the item there to be valued and arranged to collect a week later. Again the person who valued the item was not there, luckily they wrote it on a scrap of paper! Disappointed in the valuation is an understatement, decided to seek a second and third opinion both jewellers gave over double the valuation to that of Jonathan David. One jeweller offer the buy the item on the day. An evaluation will alway been an opinion, and that’s not the disappointing part it was the time wasted to get to that point. Not the best customer service from Jonathan David, sadly you’ve lost some customers.

I had a ring resized, it needed to be made 4 sizes larger because of a hand injury. The initial alteration took about 2 weeks. On inspection at home, the ring seemed very thin at the back and I felt it could be better. I contacted the shop who were very helpful and asked if it could be brought back in to be looked at. They inspected it and said it was as it should be, but could see why I thought it looked too thin, the staff member suggested that this was an optical illusion. They did agree to change it, removing the back of the ring and replacing it was suggested. As no estimates for the price for the work was needed, the staff said it would be ready quicker this time. However, it took almost 4 weeks before I was called to say it was ready. It was collected and brought home. It definitely does look a better quantity of gold at the back of the ring. However, it was returned without a hallmark? I should have contacted the shop again, but I just could not face it even though I feel this is very poor service. I paid £122 for this work.

I’ve been coming here for years to get my engagement ring cleaned. More recently went for a valuation for my diamond - the team and Jonathan were all fantastic. Excellent service, so helpful and really understanding. Wouldn’t ever go anywhere else or trust anyone else with my ring!

If you are looking for a ring repair - don’t visit this jewellers - their website states the following “ WE HAVE AN ON-SITE JEWELLERY REPAIR WORKSHOP, ABLE TO CARRY OUT ALL OF YOUR JEWELLERY REPAIR REQUIRE”. Great I thought- I took the ring in and was informed that they would take a look at the ring and come back to me with a quotation for the repair. One week later no call or email, nearly 2 weeks later I emailed them to enquire - no response. I called into the store and was told that the ring had been sent off to a jeweller in Birmingham and that they hadn’t received any information with regards to a quotation- this is now 2 weeks after I had left the ring with them and I was not told it would be sent away as their website clearly states that they have an on-site repair workshop - obviously not !! I informed them I needed the ring repaired by a specific time and they mentioned they would ring the jeweller and get back to me the next day - I had emailed them the next day as nobody had contacted me. At 16:15 they called with a quotation and also mentioned it may not be repaired in time by the time I required it. Thus I asked to have the ring returned - this was a Thursday and the ring didn’t get back in store until the Saturday. The service I received was appalling and after waiting over 2 weeks the ring was not repaired and now I am unable to were it for the time required. @ Jonathan David Jewellers - please keep customers informed and get back to them with regards to their precious items and also be fully Truthful with matters and please update your website correctly

Review from my Mum's experience: 'I needed to have my wedding ring removed and wasn't sure any jeweller would be willing to do it, as this service was all I was looking for. I decided to go to Jonathan David having seen the reviews, and rang ahead to check and make an appointment (in line with Covid-19 rules). I was made to feel welcome in a very cosy space, the gentleman who met me was very attentive, kind, and couldn't have been more helpful. He took the ring off without any charge and advised me to not have the ring resized for at least 6 weeks, due to swelling. I asked to look at some rings as I was there, giving him some idea of what I was looking for in the future (after the suggested leave-off period). They showed me a wonderful selection, which I noted were reasonably priced. I was also able to discuss with the in-house Maker what could be created for me, unfortunately one of my ideas was not feasible, but this was still very helpful and informative. It can feel a little daunting going to an unknown jeweller, however, my experience was both positive and enjoyable.'

Waste of vist…..my wife phoned the day before to ask about would they be interested in purchasing my wife’s earrings . Went in shop Wednesday morning told straight away there NOT buying earings. WHY ……… Say one thing on the phone and say something else in person. This happened to me a few years back when i phone and asked would they be interested in watches I have….

This is a really traditional (but not in the least "old-fashioned") jewellers. Conveniently sited in St Mary's Arcade, It would fit well into St. James', London. The staff are extremely courteous, of course, but very knowledgable and helpful. My need was for an updated insurance valuation on some Victorian items and, I hoped, a correct period Edwardian gold chain for a fob watch. A small item, but I believe that if one comes into stock Jonathan David will inform me. I highly recommend this store.

I bought a piece of jewellery which needed some adjustments to be made. I brought it to JD Jewellers as I prefer proper jewellers to retailers. I had the best advice and service and absolutely cannot fault them. If you need anything these are your people.
