A really lovely Waterstones that's clean, tidy and the staff are really friendly. They have a great range of books and clearly marked sections so everything is easy to find. They have a great kids sections too. Really love going here.

Loved the store 📚❤️ They have a table with their favorites, which included really great books and helped me find a new one to read. Also enjoyed the small signs with summaries of particular books, to get a fast glimpse about their contents. Really do recommend the store.

great selection of books for every age and every genre. standard retail prices but waterstones has a great feel to it. also a coffee shop to read your newly bought book. only wish they had more seating around the place to sit down and read :)

Good looking book shop. Great addition of a cafe. The cafe was great lots of cake and the tea was drinkable which in the age if coffee is a rarity.

An amazing location for all your reading needs! I found myself enthralled with the possibilities as soon I walked through the door. Not to mention the stunning special edition covers! Absolutely recommend! Especially with the half off hardcover sale 😉

A fabulous branch of waterstones. It has an excellent selection of books. They often have author signings here too. The highlight for me is the café, where I love to sit and read while enjoying a coffee. Great atmosphere and staff too.

The main bookshop in the centre of Cardiff ( there used to be more). Visited to buy a Christmas present, there was a huge range of books. The shop is arranged over two floors in an older building near the central market. A bonus is the lovely coffee shop on the upper floor. There is a lift to the first floor, but you have to look/ ask for directions to find it.

The layout is dangerous for any bibliophile popping in to buy "just one book". The displays are so well placed and enticing that it takes a lot of willpower to not leave with a trailer load of books. The staff are all very helpful and friendly and the shop is immaculate. I love going in to browse (and of course never leave empty handed) and see what is on offer as they are always current and up to date.

Went to cafe for our much needed cup of tea & coffee. We Had toasted teacake /Almond Croissant. We both enjoyed. Reasonably priced. Served by a lovey (American?) Assistant. Made us very welcome

Beautiful little store in the centre of Cardiff near St David’s, and this great old staircase to the upper floor

Great place to browse, helpful and friendly staff, seats upstairs but not on ground floor, otherwise would have had five stars.

I absolutely love water stones. The selection of books was good, and the signs helped me and my partner look at books we might enjoy more than others. We bot purchased 2 books each and are very happy with our purchases. We loved the cafe inside the store and enjoyed an absolutely stunning coffee. If we are in the city again, we will definitely visit again, even if it's just for a cheeky coffee.

As up market bookshops go I do enjoy Waterstones as it feels like home. The staff are amazing to talk to about anything, from if you are looking for a book or want to know more about one, most can even recommend other books similar to your tastes and they have a wide range avalible.

Nice store and all. But no one actually on the tills, so had to leave after waiting a couple of minutes. Someone always needs to be on tills or at least in viewing distance so they can come over

Love this book shop, the smell, vibe. Quick service from an informed staff who told me I'd bought the 3rd book in the trilogy. Thanks Waterstones, we'll be back.

Regular Waterstones outlet with a great range of products, mainly books, of course. The staff are friendly and helpful. They know their products well and were able to offer good suggestions based on customer comments and needs.

Great bookstore. Huge selection and good facilities to browse. Large science fiction selection which is something that is often overlooked. Horror section seems to have shrunk to a single small section these days which is a bit sad for me as a horror fan. Staff are friendly and polite.

Longstanding, and in its current location, excellent bookstore; brim full of pretty much any kind of book you might be looking for. And if they haven't got it, they can probably get it. Spread over two floors, all sections are clearly marked and the collections within them kept well curated. Staff are always helpful in my experience, knowledgeable, and keen to help. Upstairs is accessed via a rather lovely wooden staircase - the original in this very old building - or a lift for those who may need the assistance. This level is mainly where the non fiction, reference, and coffee table publications can be found, and speaking of coffee... There's a nice café situated to the rear of this floor with ample seating, a good selection of cakery, and great coffee (if you follow my reviews, you'll know I don't take any bean situation with a pinch of salt). Those serving during my last visit were reading books in between customers, so that right there has to be a good sign of the likes employed, fair play.

I love this place, the staff are SO knowledgeable you could ask them advice on any book, author etc. The cafe is a great space to spend some relaxing with your latest book purchase and light lunch

Waterstones is the book store to go. There is a vast selection of books for all interests and ages. Staff are very pleasant and helpful. I could reserve a book without payment first, then collect when in. Which was very fast. Make Waterstones one's first port of call.

Pretty decent selection of books and a few seating areas where you can sit an browse. The coffee shop was closed when we visited in Aug-21 but would be a nice place to take a break and grab a coffee in between browsing. Staff are always very friendly and helpful too which is a nice bonus :)

Really helpful staff. I love this place will be a place I will visit often with my family as we are getting our little one to be more interested in books. They also have a small area of mangas which is great for us all

Smaller than most Waterstones stores I know of but overall good collection of books and reasonable prices. Staff always incredibly friendly and attentive

  • 5/5 Peter D. 2 years ago on Google
Real books you can browse, all new, just begging to be opened and read. Feels like you could spend two weeks in there and hardly skim the surface. Choosing just one book seems impossible until one seems to jump into your hands. Great uplifting experience with every visit. Definitely always on my must visit list when in town.

  • 4/5 paddytaff61 2 years ago on Google
Very extensive stock of books. No purchases made this time because what I was looking for was not in stock. No reflection on the store, just my determination only to buy what I am looking for, otherwise my bookshelves will collapse

What a friendly down to earth unpretentious cafe. Spacious, comfortable, super friendly non posing staff. People sitting there reading books, working on laptops, a group of British people conversing quietly in French. Delicious coffee, toast ok. Porridge in a tub but wow this place is cheap and inviting. The wifi is average. They take cash too which is a pleasant touch these days, inclusivity and all that, plus you can put loose change in a charity collection box and at least feel you’ve done a good deed however small :-)

Large book shop I bought a couple of books and had a cup of coffee in the bookshop cafe many people using their laptops while drinking a cupa easy to find. St David's shopping centre is across from it if your into books chances are they will have it i just wanted a couple of books for my g daughter but they sold out but no changes worth a visit for sure

The thinness of the non-fiction sections is infuriating, but this is the best bookshop we've got left in Cardiff.

What can be said about Waterstones that hasn't already been said? Cardiff's premier bookstore. Its largest, vastest, and most professional. The staff will always be there to recommend something, each of them walking representatives of the store. There's many chairs and a cafe to relax in, worth spending an hour or two in.
