Expect
a
2
star
max
We’ve
just
returned
from
a
week’s
stay
at
the
Don
Juan,
Lloret
de
Mar.
Here
are
my
honest
impressions.
We
travelled
by
car
and
I
specified
this
when
booking.
Unfortunately,
the
hotel
car
park
was
full.
We
were
lucky
enough
to
find
a
space
in
the
street
about
10
minutes’
walk
away.
The
hotel
was
very
busy.
It
was
the
height
of
the
season:
families,
couples,
young
people…
The
receptionist
was
polite
and
efficient,
however.
The
room
was
small
but
reasonably
clean
and
adequate,
equipped
with
a
small
bathroom,
TV
and
tiny
balcony
(one
chair
on
it).
Sachets
of
shower
gel
and
soap
were
provided.
The
walls
are
paper-thin
and
you
can
hear
everything.
The
doors
bang
shut
if
you
don’t
hold
them.
The
first
night,
a
group
of
people
came
in
from
a
nightclub
and
then
continued
to
party
in
their
room!
The
rooms
have
a
safe
but
please
note
that
you
need
to
pay
for
the
lock/key.
You
have
to
request
it.
We
paid
20€
for
the
week
plus
10€
returnable
deposit,
payable
in
cash,
but
it’s
worth
the
peace
of
mind.
The
restaurant
was
an
enormous
canteen-style
room.
The
food
was
presented
in
buffet
arrangements.
Being
August,
it
was
crowded
and
very
noisy.
There
were
sometimes
queues.
The
food
was
on
the
whole
OK,
though
perhaps
not
very
varied.
There
was
a
reasonable
choice
of
vegetables.
I
don’t
recommend
the
water
or
fruit
juice.
As
far
as
I
could
tell,
there
were
not
many
vegetarian/vegan
main
course
options.
The
hotel
has
two
pools:
one
for
‘families’
and
the
other
for
everyone.
In
practice,
though,
people
use
either.
The
main
pool
is
where
activities
are
organised
and
music
plays
throughout
the
day.
There
is
access
for
disabled
guests.
The
‘family’
pool
has
a
triple
waterslide
for
children.
Both
pools
have
a
bar
nearby
and
are
equipped
with
sunbeds.
We
regretted
that
there
were
no
parasols
and
very
little
shade
and
the
sunbeds
do
not
incline.
They’re
fine
for
napping
but
not
very
comfortable
if
you
want
to
read,
for
example.
Nothing
to
do
with
the
hotel
strictly
speaking,
but
we
found
that
some
guests
were
rather
inconsiderate,
playing
their
own
music
on
speakers
and
being
very
loud.
There
was
a
lifeguard
at
the
pool
but
for
security,
not
to
‘police’
incivilities.
The
hotel
offers
daily
entertainment
for
families
and
children,
during
the
day
and
in
the
evening.
There
are
several
bars,
a
games
room
and
an
indoor
pool,
which
we
didn’t
use.
The
hotel
is
actually
a
complex
of
three
hotel
buildings
with
connecting
hallways:
Palace,
Avenue
and
Boulevard.
We
were
in
the
Palace
building.
There
are
two
lifts
to
our
building
and
there
were
frequently
queues
to
use
them.
The
hotel
is
located
next
to
a
kind
of
attraction
park.
It’s
noisy
each
evening
but
is
useful
for
orientation
when
out
walking!
The
area
is
full
of
souvenir
shops
and
bars.
The
beach
is
about
5-10
minutes’
walk
away.
To
resume,
this
hotel
is
not
a
real
4
star
establishment
but
offers
no-frills
board
and
lodging.
We
spent
an
acceptable
week
but
were
happy
to
return
home
at
the
end
of
our
stay.
