Best haunted house I’ve ever been to! We upgraded to VIP for a shorter wait time which was totally worth it. The whole experience in total was about 45 minutes including the graveyard, which was probably my favorite part! The actors were amazing and very dedicated to their roles. My husband and I had many jump scares, and never felt like we went too long without seeing an actor which happens at a lot of haunted houses. Would definitely recommend Hellsgate!

Hells gate is definitely one of the best haunted houses I have been to. In fact I would rate it the second best haunted house I have ever been to (Massacre being the first) The outdoor trail through the woods and the cemetery is great. Plenty of actors and sets throughout the journey just to get to the Hells Gate House with plenty of jump scares to get you ready for the house itself. The house looks great from the outside and the inside does not disappoint either. The sets are very well put together and a lot of detail has been put into every single one. The actors are all great at their part. This is a must see if you are into haunted houses. I highly recommend this attraction. Do yourself a favor and look for the twice the terror tickets to Hells Gate and Statesville. It's well worth the money and you get speed pass for both! I included a pic of my invoice to show the price I paid.

Really great haunt. I recommend going early as the crowds get huge. The wait can be 3+ hours but it's worth it.

We have been coming to Hells Gate since it opened. Year over year are blown away by the experience. Yes, there are plenty of good jump scares but the reason we come back is for the theatricality. The sets, the sound design, the maze. The playful details and story. The actors have depth. They do more than just jump out at you, they tell stories, speak made up languages, perform some of the scariest noises I’ve heard and create characters all along a cohesive theme. The experience is designed to visually stick with you. They improve and upgrade year over year. Their crowd control formula is brilliant. We never felt like we were in an endless conga line when it mattered most. Have been to many haunts nationally and we keep coming back to this one. We laugh, scream, jump and marvel at the spooky creations. Just go. You won’t regret it.

The closest you can get to living a horror movie! The set pieces are incredible, the animatronics are a great distraction but the amazing scare actors really bring it to life. They were relentless and came from all directions! We had a blast! We drove 5 hours to get here and it was worth every minute!

Top 10 in the USA! The best entrance/intro I have ever seen. So many things to look at and scare the hell out of you in every room. Nice flow and organization on the whole operation. Oh and I also got married there.

I was ok I don't scare eaily the set was cool but it was packed the lines were super long took 2 hours just to get to the entry point that blew me but for a attraction it was cool not scary enough for me if you scary easy it's a good place for a family outing but for me not even.

Lines, lines, lines. You wait in line to get on the bus to go to the actual location from their parking lot. You wait in line to get your ticket scanned. You wait in line to "enter" the haunted house, i.e. walk through some attractions in the yard. After the yard, though, you wait in line some more to enter the house itself! All in all I think we were standing around for 4 hours. Actors did perform little sideshows for those waiting in line, but they were hard to see with how crowded it was, and the music they played in line kinda sucked. I understand the desire for revenue, but for the sake of not pissing people off, capping ticket sales to keep lines under control may be a good way to please people.

We love this haunted house, we visit every year and they always surprise with something new and refreshing lol. For me personally probably the best experience comparable to the rest around, you have a spooky hike prior the house and you have insane schoolbus ride from the parking. Very well organized for the ultimate experience

The line was LONG. But the actors and music made it feel like it wasn't. No cameras allowed in the attraction itself, but it took almost an hour to get through AFTER the line. Unlike a traditional haunted house...this started on the path TO the house. You walk through a haunted grave yard...then get to a house...when you leave the house.... you're not even half done. It just keeps going...and going. Definitely going back next year.

My first ever Haunted House and I was very impressed. The money is definitely worth it! The setup, layout, and all was incredible and worth an experience. The effects really made it feel like being in a horror movie. Please get there when they open at 7 or before! I got there at 7 and there were tons of people already. You have to get on a school bus that takes you there. If you get to the parking lot after a certain time, you'll be waiting in a long line waiting for the next bus (there's a lot of buses though) After you get to the destination, there's another line that you have to wait in. The line was moving though, and the music they had playing while in line was phenomenal and the actors kept you entertained while waiting. Last but not least, please dress for the weather, I saw people standing there cold. *I went on a Saturday and it was very busy with many people*

Really it was great! The amount of time taken to create such an experience of terror and professionalism was fantastic. The security kept a solid watch and the characters in costume were respectful and very perfectly performed. The price for general admission was okay but the extra amount to skip the line was well worth it. In a situation to go to a haunted house this was special and worth the visit! Also the after show experience was really nice to see and enjoy! There is a Key you must try to find held by a character that if you find allows you a full refund on ticket price that we didn’t know until we finished the houses so be aware before you begin your excursion!! Have fun and be safe!!!

Probably the best haunted house I've been to yet. The lines can be long, but if you spend a little more for the VIP pass then it flies by. They have drinks, food, and everyone was friendly. The whole experience was about an hour long. The longest haunted house I've been to so far. Definitely worth the wait/money.

Nice Haunted house with quite a few cool features . You can tell that owners put a lot of work in to the details . I highly recommend it . Only problem there should be more info on Google (because that's what people use mostly) on directions how to get there . You have to park at the remote parking lot and then the school busses take you to the actual Haunted house where you purchase the tickets . Take take you back to the the parking lot where you parked your car afterwards. Portapoties for the bathrooms , FYI. Lots of fun , seriously and I'm hard to please .

A great haunted house experience. I love that there is a story and theme throughout your journey into its darkness!!

Speechless, as always! There is never a dull moment when it comes to visiting family within the industry. Spooktacular sets, amazing actors and a frightfully fantastic production! Thank you to everyone at Hells Gate and Zombie Army for a great night!

Was cool! Big thanks to the staff there. Would love to help them out in the future. My mask and acting was a big hit tonight. Scared some of the staff and I was welcomed

Scariness: ⭐⭐ Setup: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Price: ⭐⭐⭐ Notes: The scariest parts are when they jump out at you. There is a spooky trail leading up to the haunted house. There is an area for beer and photos before you get into the haunted trail and there are food trucks after. The story of the haunted house isn't consistent throughout but there is alot of really good design and thought put into everything. Definitely enjoyed the experience and I know you will too! Happy Halloween!!!

This haunted attraction is the best I've experienced so far (and I've been to many). The artistry from the makeup, the talent and the overall layout are top notch. The path to get to the house is like a whole extra scary experience in and of itself. I was blown away by the set design. The house looks incredible when you approach it. One of the scare actors got me 3 times in a row! I loved the carnival atmosphere after exiting the house. We didn't want to leave. I will absolutely return again and again. Even my girlfriend who is a chicken when it comes to scary things had a blast and said she would love to come back. Go to Hellsgate!

Awesome haunted house!! One of the best my wife and I have been too. The graveyard walk is designed really well, sort of like a movie set and the haunted house itself is spectacular. Lots of actors and scares and goes on for a decently long time too.

Yes the lines are long but it’s so worth it! We waited to board a bus for about 30min on a Saturday at 7:30. Pay for the VIP pass and it will be worth it to cut your wait time to a fraction of the almost 2 hour entry line. This year the group loved seeing the additional cabins in the woods and the new zombie and creatures throughout. Love this haunted house…definitely did not disappoint and gets better every year.

Best haunt in the area without a doubt!

I am a skittish person and have avoided haunted houses for years, but I love Halloween couldn't pass the opportunity to go to HellsGate with some friends, especially after seeing some intriguing behind the scene videos. Listen, I was still scared as sh*t, but I was SO happy I went. The artistic input and production value is unlike anything I've ever experienced, and that alone is worth the trip. My jaw dropped more times over the DETAIL that goes into this haunted house than from the my screaming. And I screamed a lot! An overall amazing experience.

If I could give this place more stars I would. Come here every year. By far the best haunt I’ve been to. Plan to go again before the season ends. From the storyline to the sets and the actors it’s all so perfectly planned out and movie quality. A huge fan of anything zombie army does! Bring back statesville so I can have double the fun! Amazing job as usual.

Tons of fun! Actors were amazing very interactive ! Makeup and special effects were top notch! Had very cool unique features that I haven't seen before in a haunted house-I don't want to spoil anything for anyone, but definitely worth the trip 😀

HANDS DOWN THE BEST HAUNTED HOUSE IVE BEEN TO! I’ve came for the past 3 years and I’m never disappointed but this time around I brought my sister (who needs the aid of a wheel chair) and they were beyond amazing with accommodating her! I cannot rave about this place enough and the cast behind it. Everyone was so great with her that it made it all even better! We all had a great time and I seriously can never thank you all enough! We will definitely be back next year!

All I can say is wow! Drove 3 and a half hours and this place did NOT disappoint! Sents absolutely phenomenal the first room inside the haunt with the theatrical story set up absolutely AMAZING!! Sets were gorgeously laid out, characters were super fun especially while waiting to go into the woods and house. We had an absolute blast! Will definitely be coming back on a busier night just to check out more interactions, totally worth it thank you so much for the wonderful experience!

This was by far the best haunted house I’ve been to! I know waiting in the cold is the worst, but we all thought it was so worth the wait! I believe we waited about 2 hours in line. When we got to the location, we ended up buying the fast entrance since we had younger ones with us and it was very cold. Highly recommend !!

Got to tour the property, see the backstage pre opening process and ultimately see the performance the same night. Definitely the VIP treatment. Loved the ownership and management, who are not really running a haunted house. I went there thinking I was going to a haunted house, but I realized I was actually there to watch a performance. I mean this in the most complimentary sense. What you will get here is thought, planning and execution of methods and techniques designed to exploit your sense of fear. The owner demands a lot from employees when performing-which is great for patrons, but in return I saw him first hand motivate, praise and reward them. How cool is that to see when I went in 2022. Every place with high volume attendance sees people leave disappointed or upset with the wait. I get it, but don't go if you expect to be in and out. Enjoy the buildup, enjoy the people and cast watching. This place is a gem, and ownership has made the post experience ha.gout a cozy spot to decompress from the chilling experience!

The best haunted house I have ever been thru every part of the trail leading to the gates of the house awesome the house was a sensory overload which was awesome the house was amazing everywhere you looked was awesome it is priced well for the experience a must see haunt !!!!!! FYI get there early to beat the long waits when I left it was a 90 minutes ( general addmission) wait and that doesn't include the wait for the shuttle. I arrived at the parking area 1 1/2 hrs early was in line by 7 and thru the trail and house and in the midway by 845 again must see haunt well worth every penny and I will return!!!! And best part 2022 season Statesville is now living at hellsgate

Took my kid here for the first time and we all loved it! The whole thing was so fun and was so interactive. I realized I am getting older because my back was hurting from crouching but it was good! Great job to the actors and everyone who put this together! Love it and we will be back next year! <3

Very great experience. It’s truly scary. It was about 40 minutes so it’s worth the money. We got the fast pass so we didn’t wait in line at all. The shirts and souvenirs at the end were fairly priced. The food truck was also fairly priced and delicious. The photo areas were easy to use and free!

The best hunted house I have ever been to! I screamed so loud a couple of times, and about jumped out my pants ! My husband isn’t a fan of hunted houses, and he even said it was really good! Statesville was really good, too, but hellsgate was even better

  • 5/5 Bridget K. 1 year ago on Google
Such a fun haunted house! We got there early (about 6:15) and were able to get on a shuttle pretty quick. As soon as the shuttle dropped us off, there was plenty of entertainment. Honestly, some of the actors in line were some of our favorites. The whole experience going through the trail and house lasted about a half hour and was well worth the money. We didn't stick around after but there was a gift shop at the end, food trucks, and games. When we left and saw how long the lines got, we were so glad we decided to come early.

The best haunted house in all of Chicago and Greater Chicago land. My wife and I have been to atleast 2 dozen in and around the area and this is our favorite. They do a really good job putting it all together, it isn't one of those really fast ones that is over in 15 minutes and it has a cool indoor and outdoor portion.
