You
should
consider
homelessness
before
agreeing
to
live
here.
I
rented
their
2b2br
highland
apartment
at
1676
per
month
(including
$35
pet
rent
and
$2
'convenience
fee'
for
paying
online).
Of
course,
I
expected
there
to
be
other
fees
and
utilities,
but
the
actual
reality
for
what
those
expenses
would
be
was
ridiculous.
I
paid
$3,734
for
initial
rent,
pet
fee,
admin
fee,
security
deposit,
and
other
'activation'
fees
before
I
moved
in.
Each
month,
my
roommate
and
I
were
charged
between
$90-120
ON
TOP
OF
RENT
for
utilities
including
water,
pest
control,
grounds
keeping,
'utilities',
trash,
and
electricity
for
the
building
itself.
Note,
that
electric,
AC,
and
heat
for
the
unit
are
not
included
in
this
amount.
The
apartment
sported
two
heat/a/c
units,
one
in
one
bedroom,
and
one
in
the
living
room
with
a
vent
into
a
bedroom.
Our
electric
bill
varied
between
$80-190
during
the
year,
with
the
highest
being
almost
$190
during
the
winter
for
trying
to
keep
the
apartment
warm
enough
to
wear
layers.
The
total
average
monthly
cost
to
live
here
with
just
the
core
costs
is
between
$1900-2000.
This
does
not
include
Wifi!
I
lived
here
for
1
year,
and
the
cost
of
rent
would
have
increased
from
1734
-
1,950
for
the
following
year!
Cost
aside,
any
time
I
had
a
question
about
my
bill,
a
maintenance
request,
or
any
other
form
of
correspondence
regarding
Residences,
all
of
my
emails
were
ignored,
and
MAYBE
1
of
10
phone
calls
were
answered.
The
only
time
I
was
able
to
speak
to
someone
about
anything
was
when
I
went
into
the
main
office,
if
anyone
was
there.
Their
phone
answering
system
listed
their
hours
as
open
until
6
M-F,
but
if
you
called
or
showed
up
any
time
after
5
(or
4
on
Friday!)
no
one
was
available.
Any
time
I
brought
up
my
concern
for
the
lack
of
correspondence,
I
was
told
that
they
were
'short-staffed',
and
they
were
constantly
swamped.
I
empathize
with
the
employees
in
the
office,
as
they
constantly
seemed
overworked
dealing
with
disgruntled
residences.
They
did
not
seem
to
have
the
resources
needed
to
answer
questions;
they
could
not
waive
fees
or
adjust
account
balances
themselves,
could
not
provide
an
itemized
list
of
expenses
being
billed
without
the
property
manager.
As
a
resident,
you
will
not
have
the
ability
to
see
what
you
are
being
charged
for
in
the
Residences
Portal,
and
if
you
accrue
a
balance
of
something
on
the
account
in
the
middle
of
the
month
you
do
not
receive
a
notification.
One
month,
I
received
an
eviction
warning
on
a
piece
of
paper
taped
to
my
door
for
utilities
that
were
not
paid
10
days
after
the
1st
of
the
month.
I
pay
my
balance
in
full
each
month
(barring
a
discrepancy
with
the
amount),
and
the
utilities
for
that
month
were
not
added
to
the
account
until
after
I
paid
the
balance.
I
received
NO
COMMUNICATION
THAT
A
BALANCE
REMAINED
BEFORE
HAVING
A
NOTICE
TAPED
TO
THE
DOOR.
$300
of
late
fees
were
added
to
the
account,
which
were
waived
by
the
office
staff
after
reviewing
the
incident.
Maintenance
members
were
friendly,
but
never
wore
masks
in
units
when
answering
maintenance
requests.
They
never
called
ahead
if
you
listed
you
had
a
pet
and
needed
to
call,
and
often
tickets
were
not
answered
unless
you
followed
up
in
person
in
the
office
days
later.
At
the
time
of
this
posting,
Residences
has
a
2.7
average
review.
I
will
update
this
post
after
receiving
my
security
deposit
(if
that
happens,
the
reviews
aren't
promising!).
I
would
not
recommend
Residences
to
anyone
for
any
reason,
and
I
hope
that
this
review
will
encourage
you
to
find
residency
elsewhere!
