Had a great time at nightjar on a Friday evening. Made reservation for jazz night and the band was very good. Cocktails are great as well. Note that Jazz night booking costs about 10 pounds per person and they also add service charge.

A wonderful cocktail bar with some great older style creations. All I had were superb and also very cleverly mixed. I was impressed. I accidentally went for a rather expensive £27 cocktail which while being nice was a tad expensive and tbh I preferred the more standard ones. Atmosphere great and service was OK.

Great experience, relaxing music, great atmosphere! drinks are creative and characteristic! Our waiter introduced every drink’s flavour and the story behind it to us, which is very professional. However, this is our second time try to visit this place with a booking. The first time we try to visit the security at the front door was rude. Another issue is the drink we ordered served in a duck shaped metal flask. Our curiosity led us to look inside and we discovered rust…

Great cocktail experience 😄. The atmosphere is amazing and the cocktails are beautiful. I really like the Yorkshire Punch and Royal Fizz, which is light and refreshing. Honeymoon has a very strong Whiskey taste but I really enjoyed it. Yokohama is very creamy on the top. We booked the early session from 7-9 which is plenty of time for 3 rounds. Live music starts from 9pm onwards. The snacks are surprisingly good as well.

Great night last Friday. Excellent band (The Untouchables), great cocktails and atmosphere. Open till the early hours… last orders I think 2.30am! Best cocktail by far was London Mule though the others were also world class…

Still one of the best cocktail bars in London. Operationally run very well, smooth greeting and being shown to table. Prompt service and great music which was a jazz blues three piece the night we went. But above all else is the quality of cocktails, each one is a delight from the blend, the choice of glass or cup or container, the garnish or taste accompaniment (like tiny serve of sorbet).. each drink has character and drama and just a pleasure to consume. Such a great night out and well worth the visit, transporting you back to glamorous New York prohibition speak easy era

I really wish I had taken more photos but we were enjoying ourselves far too much to notice! Fantastic live entertainment, beautifully crafted food menu (we tried every item bar two dishes and there isn't a single complaint). (Ok, if I am being very very picky, a sauce to accompany the cod would be wonderful but not completely necessary). The drinks were delicious and the staff were very professional. Also, please give our thanks to the lady at the door; she got the evening off to a great start and was full of infectious joy, despite having stood out in the cold all night! Can't wait to go back.

I highly recommend visiting (better book a table) Nightjar for its craft cocktail making! I had the privilege of sitting at the bar because I was on my own and from watching them at work and engaging with them, I can say they take their job seriously. And that's important because (I don't know about you but) I hate bars where they give you half-arsed drinks and still asking you premium prices. Here at Nightjar, even if you don't fall in love with your drink for any reason, you still know you just drank an absolute original with carefully thought-out ingredients (half of which probably homemade and unique). And the atmosphere is the best thing about Nightjar; that's what London should be about.

Awesome bar! We got 3 or 4 cocktails per person per night. They were delicious. Bartender was really nice and helpful, she guide us through the menu and we just told her what we like, and she made a recommendation for us. Loved the experience and the taste. Each cocktails was pretty different. Some of them had a fancy serving. Enjoyed the experience and definitely recommend the place!

A very special bar in London. Absolutely worth the visit, but reservation is highly recommended. We spent a lovely evening and enjoyed some rather exotic, but quite delicious drinks. Live music was played that night and enhanced the experience in a fantastic manner. Great fun to watch the two performers sing and play with obvious joy. Our server was knowledgeable and happy to recommend something suitable. Not exactly cheap offers, but well worth it. Overall, a great vibe in this place and filled to the brim despite being quite unremarkable from outside. Definitely a must on our next return to London.

A superb experience! During a stay in London, I came during the week with my friend, seated at the bar. First bar in London and I think I can say that it is the best cocktail bar I have been to in my life ! The quality of welcome is perfect, the bartender we had was very careful to advise us on the cocktails, explain to us how they work, the history of their glassware... all with great attention and professionalism ! As for the cocktails, just perfect : super balanced, well presented, with a little story, original flavors... In short, a complete fan of this establishment and I would come back there during my next stay in London!

A place that feels so detached from the world and yet is located so close to one of the main London Tube station. Everything, from the light, music, service and cocktail is just special and makes you feel like you are in another century. The cocktails are as interesting as a high end restaurant meal and the prices are fair for what you get. The only big down point for me is the £5 entry which really puts me off coming back unfortunately :/ other than this you need to go to this place If you've never been.

Great jazz venue! A bit loud but it’s great for our group to enjoy some cocktails and music. We went on a Friday and the place was packed, our group had such an amazing time. For cocktails, Cantarito was stunning! Never had anything like it, it’s like a twist of margarita . Definitely will come back

Hard to get a table without a reservation but waited around outside and the bouncer was kind enough to let us in that was already past mid night. Very hidden gem in the basement. The cocktails was very creative and crafty. Would go back again

One of my go-to authentic speakeasy bars in London. The atmosphere and the interior truly driver you a proper prohibition experience. To top it off the live jazz music every night makes the experience unforgettable and the carefully crafted cocktails and their presentations make sure you’ll never get bored in this place. The staff is always extremely helpful and kind, and does everything to make your stay as good as possible. A must try cocktail bar!

Nightjar is classy, amazing and exquisite! They have excellent cocktails which are made with a lot of detailed care and precision and some theatrics! The menu is extensive including a few seasonal options. The staff here truly care about your experience (from the security guard to the people serving you) and take the time to explain the cocktails ordered. Making the customer happy is their main priority. We really enjoyed the live music as well which only adds to the lovely ambience! Love this place and definitely recommend it to everyone! 😊

I visited Nightjar 3 weeks ago and was served by Artie. She was amazing! Artie was very knowledgeable about all the cocktails and the tapas plates. I really enjoyed all her suggestions. She took the time to speak to me and understand what types of spirits I prefer to drink to make an excellent suggestion. Artie also explained the different types of drinks available plus the garnishes. The garnishes were top notch. The service of Artie was so good I went back a 2nd time. Last night I was served by Cintia and again amazing service as well. Artie and Cintia both were amazing hosts and servers. I will definitely be coming back, I would strongly recommend you visit the Nightjar.

Great vibes! Nice little speakeasy that's easiest to get into when you book in advance online. Nice intimate space, great cocktails, phenomenal service, and an opportunity to listen to some great live music with most seats in the house being a great seat.

One of my favorite speakeasies in London. You need to book, but it’s worth it for the live music from 9-11pm. Drinks are great, albeit pricey. Then again, you’re paying for the vibe. I’d recommend for a date or a group of 3-4 max.

My second time here and I still consider Nightjar my all-time favourite cocktail bar in London. Service was fantastic, as usual, with the staff really well versed in their cocktail selection and able to make fantastic recommendations. Our favourite cocktail was Blackthorn, as we loved the blackcurrant flavour to this perfectly-balanced cocktail. This was the first recommendation made by the waitress who was serving us. On top of that amazing-tasting cocktails, we also got to enjoy watching the cocktails being made behind the bar, which was a real treat for us. We're definitely looking forward to our next visit!

Best of the best! The staff was great friendly and helpful in guiding you with what to choose for a drink. The place atmosphere is amazing, it's like you enter a time machine and you go back in time in a bar of the old times. Music also great. The drinks..just amazing, there are so many options, you just want to order all of them.. Highly recommended!

A Night to Remember at NightJar NightJar is not just a jazz club, but an immersive experience. The ambiance transports guests to a bygone era, with cocktails that are both flavorful and visually captivating. The staff's professionalism enhances the experience, and the quality of music speaks to the club's dedication to authentic jazz. Its design marries vintage charm with modern flair, creating an intimate setting for true jazz aficionados. A must-visit in London's vibrant jazz scene.

Wow, what’s. Place. Cozy, cheerful, well distributed, stellar cocktails and amazing people. Definitely a place to recommend. Every day live music (jazz), normally from 9pm. It can get busy so try to make a reservation. Spent 15£ for a very good cocktail and even got a gift.

My friends and I had to wait outside for a few minutes. Not very long, but you might want to make reservations so you do not have to wait for a table. The energy was great, there was live music and a lot of people there. The drinks were good as well. A little hard to find the door at first but it is worth it.

An absolute perfection of a speakeasy. Dimmed lights ambience coupled up with live jazz, extraordinary cocktails and very attentive staff created a very unique experience. They have an extensive cocktail selection. Some of them are hit and miss, in an attempt to be too creative. They also serve the classical cocktails and those are good. The live music here is highly recommended.

I love this place. It's seriously my favourite cocktail bar in London and probably totally. Service great and it's small and never crowded which for somebody who's never divergent is so important. As a disabled person who does struggle with stairs a bit but only thing is I wish there was a lift. But I do understand it's London and that's just how it is.

  • 4/5 Rebecca K. 1 year ago on Google
The drinks here are only okay and a little overpriced. However the vibes are incredible, and they have awesome live jazz music. You will have to make a reservation in advance if you want to visit here or show up right as they open to get a same day table.

A gem in the city. Nice interior with friendly staff. This place has space for sitting only. The entrance is quite obscure and easy to miss with just a small sign on a brown door. However, it's just before or after KFC depending on the direction of travel. I enjoyed live music here. Check it out...

Outstanding cocktails and vibes! Nightjar is a unique piece of Old Street’s nightlife and never fail to impress. I tried their ‘Soul Kiss’ smoky cocktail and was completely blown away by the depths of flavours and contrasts it delivered! The pianist on stage that night also gave a fantastic performance that my family enjoyed dearly. Piece of advice though: book well in advance because this place is popular (for all the right reasons!) Cheers 🍸

a hidden gem. 10/10 cocktails, they all have a something that makes them pop - fire, garnish, glasses, everything. i would say there are more strong flavoured drinks than fruity ones. the live music was a hit however some tables are a foot away, making it impossible to have any conversation…

Oh I had been missing a good jazz night for so long! Oriole bar is absolutely one of the best jazz clubs I've been to in London; first of all, we got lucky because this amazing duet was playing, Baraka Jazz, check them out on Instagram, they really deserve it. Just walking down the stairs and immersing yourself into the vibe makes you feel like in a movie, the chattering of the people, the band playing, the dimmed lights and classy decor, the cocktail bar... and what a choice of cocktails, the beautifully designed menu introduced us to a geographically classified selection of drinks and the way they were presented to us, even the glasses, and definitely the taste, left us so satisfied! We also had some food, mostly small bytes, which usually could be a risky move in a bar in London but I really have to say I was so surprised at how delicious, delicate and flavoursome everything was.

  • 4/5 Christine K. 1 year ago on Google
Reservations are recommended as walk ins are hard. We came in the early evening on Saturday so there was no live music, so the atmosphere was more chilled. However the bar was freezing (not sure why the AC was cranked even on a chilly October evening). The drinks are good and varied but I won't be rushing back.

Amazing cocktail place inspired by 1930s Italy in its awesome, basic simplicity. Very pricey but they can make any cocktails you want from the classics (I tested them), they use proper glassware and they are experimental in some of their own drinks close to molecular gastronomy. Hidden gem to visit!

Ambience: 4/5 Service: 3/5 Price: 4/5 Seats: 3/5 Cocktails: 1/5 I don’t know if the bartender was doing it on purpose, but my sazerac did not taste anything like a sazerac. There’s way too much absinthe, couldn’t even taste any rye/cognac in it, no garnish no bitters. It was rough, choking And I was so surprised given the hype for this place. So bad.

  • 5/5 Ryan M. 3 years ago on Google
Incredible bar with live music and a speakeasy aesthetic. Fantastic service and ridiculously well priced for the quality you receive. Highly recommend the food - every table around us commented on how good it was and one table asked to speak to the chef regarding how good the food was. For the next two Wednesdays you can try all of the small dishes for £10 a head between two people, I highly recommend this. The waitresses are also really on the ball here, I dropped a fork and had a new set of cutlery within 15 seconds. Our drinks were never empty and water was continuously refilled. This has got to be one of my new favourite places in London. You'd need to reserve a table as it can get busy here.

Really love the vibe here. My wife and I (her birthday) went for a life music night for her birthday. I requested a view of the performers and the staff were able to accommodate - just metres away. We were also greeted with complimentary champagne to mark the evening. Very knowledgeable staff who are able to make recommendations based on your palate, which is a skill in itself considering how extensive the menu is. Once there, you're not rushed - just left to enjoy the ambience. The main event is the cocktails. Whilst I've personally had better, these were well crafted. I really enjoy complex drinks and I felt these wee missing something in the middle palate area - lots of depth and high notes, but that middle ground just wasn't quite there. Still, beautiful drinks to look at and sample. Definitely worth a visit.

Nice vibe, loved the decor. Menu full of interesting cocktails though didn’t find them particularly amazing - Instead, for a special occasion, would recommend ordering their sharing cocktails, it’s not only aesthetically pleasing (it is served in a huge owl 🦉pot, such a cutie) but also tastes very delicate, great combination of cocktail mix and actual tea bag!

Honestly can say this is my favourite bar ever!! I’ve been to unique bars around the world and no longer live in London but I haven’t found any place that could top it. I make it a point to go here whenever I am in town. They definitely have that speakeasy vibe down. I lived so close to it for so long and would never have guessed the unassuming door beside a sandwich shop would transport you to another time. The drinks are amazing, and the live music is fantastic. Booking well in advance is a must.

The cocktails are great, but the FOOD is amazing. The Aztec Apache cocktail is delicious and sweet. As a table we ordered one of each from the food menu and loved it. The Edamame tostado and the iberico korean pork were exceptional. I will be back for sure. Looking forward for a full dinner menu and not just snacks there! Love the Spanish/Korean fusion vibes.
