The Millennium Bridge, spanning the River Thames in London, is a modern architectural marvel that seamlessly blends functionality and aesthetics. Opened in 2000, the bridge connects St. Paul's Cathedral on the north bank with Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe on the south bank. This pedestrian suspension bridge is known for its innovative design, featuring a sleek, undulating structure with suspension cables and a distinctive "blade of light" effect. The bridge's initial wobbling motion upon opening, attributed to the synchronized footsteps of pedestrians, earned it the nickname "Wobbly Bridge." Subsequent modifications addressed this issue, ensuring stability while preserving the bridge's striking appearance. The Millennium Bridge offers panoramic views of London's skyline, providing a unique vantage point for iconic landmarks such as the Tower Bridge and the Shard. The walk across the bridge is a delightful experience, offering a blend of architectural appreciation and scenic beauty. The surrounding area, including the Tate Modern and Globe Theatre, contributes to the cultural richness of the locale. Whether during the day or illuminated at night, the Millennium Bridge stands as a symbol of modernity in the heart of historical London, inviting locals and tourists alike to traverse its span and enjoy the cityscape.

How can one not cross this bridge? I suppose, go find another one, but they will not give the views that this one has. St Paul's to the North. Tate Modern to the South. As far as you can see the majestic river Thames, East and West with all the skyline in between. It's free to cross. It's full of fresh air. There is no rush. DO IT.

This bridge provides wonderful views of both sides of London. It is only open to cross by foot, which makes it relaxing to take a stroll accords. Additionally, it never gets too crowded. It is a great spot for both scenic photos or posed photos. Would definitely recommend checking it out!

I have wanted to see this bridge for a very long time It is a very busy bridge with commuters and tourists. I like how when you get to one end you have to walk around and back through the centre to get off the bridge down to the path below. and how there is a metal grate over that area that is partially going over the river which is fun to walk over. You can see a lot of well known buildings from this bridge like tower bridge, the shard and st Paul's cathedral which st Paul's cathedral lines up great with the bridge.

If you can make it go. The Millennium Bridge in London, a striking feat of modern engineering and design, gracefully spans the River Thames, connecting St. Paul's Cathedral with the Tate Modern on the South Bank. As an iconic pedestrian bridge, it has become a symbol of contemporary London and a favorite destination for both locals and tourists. Opened in the year 2000, hence its name, the bridge was envisioned as a celebration of the new millennium. Its sleek and minimalist design, with a slender steel suspension deck and elegant cables, creates a seamless and visually captivating link across the river. The bridge's unique construction allows for a flexible movement that adjusts to the weight and movement of the pedestrians crossing it. This adaptive design ensures a smooth and comfortable experience for visitors, even during crowded periods. From the Millennium Bridge, walkers are treated to breathtaking views of London's skyline, with landmarks like the historic St. Paul's Cathedral on one side and the modern Tate Modern on the other. The bridge itself has been featured in numerous films and television shows, further cementing its status as an iconic London landmark. In the evenings, the bridge is illuminated, adding to its allure and creating a magical ambiance as it reflects on the shimmering waters of the Thames. The Millennium Bridge stands as a testament to the harmonious blend of art, architecture, and functionality, exemplifying the spirit of modern London and providing a memorable and scenic crossing for visitors eager to immerse themselves in the city's vibrant atmosphere.

A beacon of London’s enduring spirit, famously standing strong during the Blitz, Sir Christopher Wren’s domed structure replaced the original Gothic cathedral that was destroyed in the Great Fire of London in 1666. Inside, 259 steps take visitors to the Whispering Gallery within the dome’s interior while the Golden Gallery on the outside offers sensational city views. Deep inside the cathedral’s crypt is the resting place of Wren himself.

Pretty cool bridge that leads a direct path to St. Paul's Cathedral! Really neat bridge and very scenic view of the city. There was someone painting over all the gum that had been spit on the bridge which was a very neat way of cleaning up the city

This bridge offers great views of the river. St. Paul’s cathedral as well as the rest of London’s skyline look amazing from here as well. This bridge is very pedestrian friendly. It is not too crowded and there is plenty of space to walk. The bridge is also clean and well maintained. I had a great experience walking across this bridge.

The Millennium Bridge is a great spot to visit and receive amazing views of the surrounding landmarks including Tower Bridge, St Paul's Cathedral and others. Although the bridge is no longer "Wobbly" like it was when originally opened it is still fun and offers great access to both sides of the Thames which have plenty of notable landmarks.

The Millennium Bridge in London is a modern marvel that seamlessly blends functional design with breathtaking views of the city's iconic skyline. As you step onto this pedestrian suspension bridge, the sensation is nothing short of awe-inspiring. The bridge, with its sleek, minimalist architecture, creates a striking contrast against the historic surroundings. Connecting St. Paul's Cathedral on one end and the Tate Modern on the other, it provides not only a convenient crossing but also an opportunity to appreciate the dynamic juxtaposition of old and new London. The gentle swaying of the bridge as you walk adds a touch of adventure and reminds you that you're suspended above the River Thames. This gentle sway, combined with the unique perspective it offers, creates an unforgettable experience, especially during sunset when the city's lights begin to twinkle. The Millennium Bridge also serves as a brilliant canvas for photographers, capturing stunning shots of the cityscape and the river. Whether you're a tourist or a local, it's a must-visit spot to capture the essence of London's architectural prowess. However, due to its popularity, the bridge can get quite busy, so it's best to choose the right time to visit if you're aiming for a more peaceful stroll. Despite this, the Millennium Bridge remains an iconic symbol of modern London, showcasing the city's commitment to innovation while providing a captivating perspective on its historical treasures.

My favourite place for lunch time walk. The view is just stunning from here over the Tate, St Pauls and of course all over London! If you are visiting London this is a must go place. I find it that it is busy no matter when you go (before covid). Since covid hit you can take pictures here all the time without many people or even none in the background !

A stroll on the Millennium Bridge is a must-do if you're visiting London. Enter the bridge from the Tate Modern side, and you'll have a fabulous view of Saint Paul's Cathedral. While you cross the bridge, you'll get a majestic view of the Thames river; pause and take in the scenery: the cruise ships, the skylines, the seagulls, Tate Modern at your back, Saint Paul zooming toward you. A great place for an everlasting memory.

The views from the bridge are spectacular any time of the day or night. Looking back at St Paul's from the Tate Modern just works so well. This part of London is surrounded by the old vs new. So much to see and do in just a short walk in any direction.

View of London tower bridge and many more famous buildings like Shard, sky garden, leaden hall etc. Best thing is river Thames cruise and boats, the best experience to feel the London. This is a pedestrian only bridge over Thames. Gives good view of the city and river. Enjoy the scenic views at your own pace as the bridge is never too much busy. Day time view is different and as compared to evening, would recommend to visit at least once both the times.

Great point to take pictures of both sides of London. And a quick shortcut from Tate Modern to St Paul's. The bridge itself looks light, almost lacy, like a string of cobweb in the wind. Love the place.

The Millennium Bridge makes for a nice but short walk across the Thames. It connects city of London to the south bank. At one end you have St Paul's Cathedral and at the other the Tate Modern on the Southbank. The views down the Thames are also beautiful with The Shard and Tower Bridge very easy to see. It's a very popular bridge to cross and always incredibly busy. You can find musicians and selfie people in day & lovers at night.

Millennium Bridge is one of the bridges in London built over the main river course of Themes. And it is one of the very few such large bridges that is pedestrian crossing style (no vehicles over the bright except cycles). It has one entry point from Tate Modern and another from across St Paul's Cathedral or from City of London School. Walking over this bridge gives you the best view of London's Skylines and all the other large bridges made over Themes including the famous Tower Bridge. And ofcourse the view of Themes itself when you stand at the corner of the bridge and look at the river flowing through is one of it's kind an experience. It is the best place to not only enjoying the scenic beauty of London and Themes but also for soul searching and finding answers.

The Millennium Bridge is a small little bridge that gets you almost straight to St. Paul’s Cathedral. You can enjoy a great view along the river and I personally recommend to go there in the evening or at night. Keep in mind that the bridge is not as static as other bridges. You may feel a tiny little movement. If that’s not for you, just take another bridge to the other side of the river

It's a nice pedestrian bridge. Nothing from out of this world, but the design is architectural structure of it makes it different from other regular passageway. It is well located to connect you to the St. Paul's Cathedral to the Tate Modern. At night it isn't so we'll illuminated and maybe they should do a little modification on that. But overall it's a nice bridge and you can enjoy both sides of the Thames river alongside walkway or just chill and check a little of London from the bridge itself. And on the Cathedral side, below the bridge, there is a "totem"/candle like ornament that has the chronological historical events that have happened in England.

On a must-see tour of London, you're almost bound to cross this steel bridge when going between St Paul's Cathedral and Tate Modern. The bridge itself is visually engaging, but better still are its views of the Thames and London skyline, including an incredible terminating vista of the cathedral. I've also bought roast chestnuts from a street vendor here. Delicious

Iconic landmark, formerly called the wobbly bridge, as there was some instability after construction, best views of the bridge are from upstairs at Tate Modern, or from viewing gallery in St Paul's As you walk over, look out for the miniature works of art ,apparently a chap paints the chewing gum that is stuck to the platform.

(Translated by Google) The structural design of the bridge is very special, with two Y-row main columns, with eight steel cables on the left and right sides and cross arms every eight meters to support and fix the entire bridge. The special design method allows pedestrians walking on the pedestrian and land bridge. The view is wide and will not be obscured by the suspension cables of the bridge, but because of the design of this construction method, when too many pedestrians travel on the bridge at the same time, the resonance phenomenon occurs, causing the bridge to sway and vibrate[1], so the Londoners gave it up It was nicknamed "Wobbly Bridge" (Wobbly Bridge). Only three days after the first opening of the Millennium Bridge, the authorities suspended its use. Two years later, shock absorbers were added to the bridge at many places, and the re-opening after successfully solving the resonance phenomenon when the load was overloaded [2]. On the north side of the bridge is St. Paul’s Cathedral, on the south side are Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, Riverside Gallery and Tate Modern Art Gallery. The location and direction of the Millennium Bridge have been specially selected, so that people can see the panoramic view of the south facade of St. Paul’s Cathedral from the south bank of the Thames, directly opposite the central axis of the bridge.

(Translated by Google) If you think that fording the Thames using the Millennium Bridge is dangerous, just because the grumpy Voldemort once brought it down with a simple flick of his wand to spite the Muggles, you are wrong: not only is the bridge solid but it is also panoramic and even scenographic. What a sight, if you take it northwards, to see the majestic vaults of St. Paul's Cathedral appear in the background, that of the weddings of British royalty. One last thing: get out of your head the idea of hanging padlocks of loving senses on the railing of the bridge, as inflexible municipal leaders, deaf to the lure of Cupid, usually unleash their brave warriors on the spot (especially explorers, deminers and heads of leather of proven faith and experience), who, accustomed to every battle and armed with mighty shears, have the task of sighting the padlocks themselves, cutting them without mercy and throwing them without even a word of comfort among the scrap metal. Listen to me: it is really worth enjoying this wonderful suspended pedestrian bridge as it is, without any distractions.

I had first seen this bridge in Harry Potter. What makes it stand out isn’t just the unique suspension structure but also the spectacular views of river Thames and St Paul’s. The best time to go is sunset.

I really recommend a stroll between the Waterloo and Millennium bridges, down the South bank. A good option for a first date too.

Good view of Thames. Good photo opportunity facing North or South London. Close to Tate modern. Other bridges are available and best to visit on a sunny day.

I love this bridge, very vibrant full of crowd. The surrounding area is full of restaurants and bars besides the Thames river. One side of the end overlooks the great St Paul's Cathedral the other end is a famous building, a Tom Cruise MI series movie was also shot on this building.

As seen in Harry Potter, the twisted bridge where Harry and others fly around on their broomsticks fighting off adversaries. A great walk across the Thames adjoining two great land marks of St Paul’s cathedral and The Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre.

Lovely walk especially at night very romantic and calming. A little peace in the hustle and bustle of a busy city! Lovely views 👌😍

Make it part of your walk across the town. It has a good view. Another tip for Arch/Engg students is that, they can go on the banks of Thames and see the bridge from below.

A modern footbridge spanning the River Thames between the Lower South Bank by the Tate Modern and the Lower Thames Path on the Northside. The orientation of the Millennium Bridge means that when you walk from the southside you have the most excellent view of St Paul's cathedral which is in your direct line of travel. Certainly one of the best photo opportunities you can find in London.

A beautiful walk to give a splendid view of Thames and London in general. It is not as busy as London Bridge or the other ones with Vehicular traffic. At one side you see St Paul's Cathedral and on the other side you get to see The Globe and Tate. It is a perfect view point - I'd recommend evenings which are a bit quieter for a lovely view of the city. Watch out for clever art along the bridge - last time we were there - they had a few small paintings on the footbridge

Always a pleasure walking down this bridge, from either side. It’s pedestrian-only and it’s fully accessible (wheelchair users, strollers). If you’re an engineering buff, you might enjoy reading its history - it was closed the second day after it was inaugurated because of the synchronous lateral excitation that occurred, resulting in a sway of up to 70mm - hence bridge was nicknamed “Wobbly bridge”.

We visited here at nighttime after our meal. (9pm on a Saturday) it was so pretty and you could really enjoy the sights rather than pushing through crowds. Was almost no one around! Definitely recommend visiting sights in the evening time rather than day as it’s just too busy to enjoy sometimes!

Lovely architecture and a feat of engineering, this bridge over the Thames. On one end of the bridge is the Tate Modern Art Gallery and the other side is the St Paul's Cathedral.

The bridge completed on 2000. Great structure. One of the iconic the fridge along Thame. With st Paul’s , Tate Morden, tower bridge and the Shard at the background, the view from millennium Bridge was fantastic. It’s completely free to visit nearest station and Blackfriars station or London Bridge station. You can have a walk along the river or explore a bit under the bridge.

Fantastic views either side of the Thames and both banks. Foot access connecting St Paul's to Tate Modern and the Globe Theatre. Not good in wind, hail and rain. Great in the sun and at night. Enjoy.

An enjoyable walk which provides great view of London's iconic tourist venues. An easy walk from St Paul's to South bank to Shakespeare Glode theatre.

The millennium bridge has a nice view to offer, as you can see the shard, Tate modern art gallery, St Paul's cathedral and London Bridge. I recommend coming here at night as the lights of London's skyscrapers is a very nice view.

Very cool steel (suspension) pedestrian bridge that stretches from St Pauls/City to directly in front of the Tate Modern on the Southbank. It was originally nicknamed the Wobbly Bridge (see bottom of review). The bridge itself is cool but so are the views from either side of the bridge as you cross it as well as back towards the City. You’ll get great photos from here and a real perspective of modern London with its shiny ultra-modern buildings v old traditional London. It was originally nicknamed the Wobbly Bridge since when it opened it was popular with up to 2000 people on the bridge at a time. The people then felt it begin to sway and feeling unsteady altered their gait to match the rhythm of the bridge …this magnified the sway and the more people adjusted the more the bridge swayed! Whilst it was reported nothing would break/fall, the design engineers felt the wobble had to stop for people to feel safe and shock absorber devices were fitted.

Potterheads! Heads-up this a place you wanna visit. It was used a shot in the Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Do visit it, take a walk and enjoy the cool breeze of the Thames River. Suggestions 1. Visit at night to get amazing views of London at night as you walk on a peaceful bridge. 2. Visit for the summer time break to get some cool breeze but not winter cold. 3. Club you visit to this bridge with something like visiting the St. Paul's Cathedral and the Tower Bridge.

I remember seeing this bridge in Harry Potter! It has a very unique suspension made only for walking. It’s built over the Thames River and you can catch the spectacular glimpse of the Shard, St. Paul’s Cathedral, London Bridge, the Shakespeare Globe as well as the Tate Modern. The bridge is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The closest underground stations there are Blackfriars (4-min walk) and St. Paul's (8-min walk). The best time to go there is most probably at early sunrise or at sunset.

The Millennium Bridge in London is a modern pedestrian suspension bridge connecting St. Paul's Cathedral and the Tate Modern. Its sleek design, often likened to a wobbly "blade of light," is a remarkable piece of contemporary architecture. It provides scenic river views and is an iconic part of London's skyline.
