I was incredibly disappointed with my stay at Clink261 hostel in London. I’ve stayed in more hostels than I can count all around Europe and I can say without an ounce of a doubt that this is definitely the worst one I’ve ever been to. Where do I even start? I booked a 4-bed female dorm for my friends and I. I had a credit to use (from a past booking that I had to cancel because I got covid and since they refused to give a refund, I had to make a new booking to use that credit) and there was a small part left to pay on arrival. The problem is that the card machine was not working, they did not accept cash and could not let us in (and pay the next day when the machine worked). The only solution was to give our card information and when we said we weren’t very comfortable with that, we were yelled at very rudely. When we asked the receptionist to calm down, she said that was just her way of speaking and did not offer any kind of apology. Then when we finally solved this problem and went to our room, we found out that our female dorm is on the only floor that has no female bathroom (some floors have unisex bathrooms, some only female and one had only guys bathroom). What sense does it make to have a female only dorm on a floor that has a guys only bathroom?? We had to walk down the stairs in the middle of the night to go to the toilet. When we went to express our surprise at this to the receptionist, she told us (very rudely once again) that it was none of her concern and that we should make a complaint to the reservation service if we were not happy. To top it all, the rooms were very small and dirty, and the walls very thin which made it quite noisy. I can understand the small and noisy part as it’s a hostel, we can’t ask for a lot. But not the dirty part: there was mold and cracks everywhere on the walls (see the pictures) and I found big chunks of dust in the room and in the bathroom and toilets. The one good thing about the hostel was its location (very close to King’s Cross) but it could not compensate for all that it was lacking. I would definitely not recommend staying here.

Great location, 2 min walk from kings cross station. In the heart of central London...also public transport available to go to anh part of London from here.. Rooms, bathroom n common area are clean enough...the linen is tidy. Lift available. The kitchen is accessible from 12pm to 12am for cooking your own food... Reception open 24/7

Honestly, I give this place five stars because when you’re paying £20 for somewhere to stay for a night in central London, you get what you pay for. I honestly didn’t mind this place at all, and actually enjoyed the stay more than I expected I would. The lounge spaces were big, with lots of charging ports, and upstairs in the room it was pretty tidy, along with the bathrooms and showers. The staff were really nice and talkative during check-in, so I’d definitely be willing to stay here again. However, just in case this is your first time using a youth hostel, there’s a couple things I would note. The windows in the hostel were open all night, which meant noise was let in, however there is an expectation that this will be the case. Being in a room with 10 people, with Covid, I expected this would happen so bought ear plugs with me and I would recommend you do too as it was a great help. Considering that it is winter, I actually woke up in the night feeling quite warm, so the windows didn’t affect the temperature at all. The lockers to keep your things in our downstairs near reception, so remember a padlock, but during the night I actually kept my bag on my bed for convenience. I had no issues here whatsoever, maybe my only thing would be if I could have an extra few pillows on the bed as that wasn’t particularly comfy. But perhaps this is something you can ask for. Overall, it was decent for what you’re paying for.

Good location. Friendly staff. Clean bathroom. The downside is the check in time is at 4 pm given the check out time is 10 am the next day. I think the check in time should change to 3pm as customer need to check out at very early the next day. Another one should improve is there is a sink in dorm which people use to brush teeth which I find it unhygienic. People gargle and throw their flu and saliva and all into the sink so I think it is better to remove the sink from the dorm and use it at the toilet. This is because other people in room is just 15 cm away from the sink and this can cause many infected disease as 10 people in a room. I get flu and fever right after check out.

The rooms are good enough and the hostel is located in a convenient place really close to train stations and grocery stores. The only issue that I had was that the bathroom was too small and there was just one toilet for the entire floor. Besides that everything was good, the breakfast worth it

Their bed is okay, but their shower room is pretty small. Also, I lost my sandal there. So watch out your belongings very well. I wouldn't recommend to reserve for breakfast because it's not worth it at all. There are only one type of ham (pork) and two type of bread. The female staff is not welcome and very unfriendly.

We stayed in the 4 bed dorm. Very small but confortable with a little sink. However there was Mold on the wall near the windows. Moreover one on the showers in the girls bathroom on the second floor was always cold. Overall rather clean. Check in and check out really easy and the location is perfect especially if you arrive via kings cross

It is a nice place overall, though a little bit controversial. I am definitely glad to stay there - the location is amazing, breakfast is nutritious and surprisingly diverse! But the rooms are very dense, too many people and lack of free space. Very noisy because of groups. But still - highly recommended in terms of value for money!

Honestly a really good hostel. Some small problems including small, smelly rooms but overall a pleasant stay with good services. The hostel is quite generous and doesn't charge you for many small things (ex: bag storage). Would recommend to a friend

Nice, helpful staff and extremely low price rates. Unfortunately there is a catch… in room 1 (shared with 16 others) there are no curtains so be prepared to wake up early. Besides this was I not allowed to cook my own breakfast while the breakfast buffet was open (7 am - 11 am).

Great place to stay at if you don‘t want to spend too much money but still like to have some privacy. The capsules are very cozy and have a ventilation. Employees are very kind & helpful. Would definitely come again when in London. Great location too as near city centre.

Open 24hrs so no matter what time you come in someone is always there, check in was super easy I got my key card which allows you in the building as well as your room, the staff is very friendly, the toilets are clean and the showers are really nice with steaming hot water. My only minor complaint was the flat pillow but the bed was soft with a nice comforter to keep you warm and they're charging ports on every bed which is perfect. For the cheap price of £21 a night for an all girls dorm I rate this 10/10, I would definitely stay here again

No electric for my whole stay and nobody came to fix. I stayed in an all female dorm but in the night a woman let a man in for a short period of time, in which I did not feel safe at all! Way too warm and stuffy which is particularly bad to have poor ventilation because of coronavirus. Toilets were disgusting, one toilet absolutely covered in diarrhoea which has been left for god knows how long. Very noisy, couldn’t sleep. Had a disturbance in my room, people up and moving about from 3am and started an argument at 5am with one girl screaming and shouting at the top of her voice. No staff came to sort the situation or offer us who weren’t involved to be able to move to another room. Was denied a refund which I think is ridiculous considering there was no power in the room.

I vaguely remember staying here before - but I was a student then and I think my standards have changed. I usually loved staying at another Clink hostel in the area which has closed now, and much preferred that to this. The hostel is quite run-down, as most in London are, but the location is great. However, it is right next to one of the busiest roads in the city and with the heat, we had to have the window open. I didn’t sleep one bit. Dozed maybe for 5 minutes at a time and ended up so overtired and frustrated that it ruined my next day. Ended up booking a quiet AirBnB at 3 am and checked out of Clink asap. Showers are pretty disappointing, with barely any room, no ventilation and poor water pressure. No soap or hand towels in sight at the sinks by the toilet. Staff greeted me with a friendly demeanour upon arrival though. And like I said, the location is difficult to beat. But nothing for light sleepers.

Great location just near Kings Cross. Spent 3 nights in a 4-beds dorm, it was fine but gotta crack the window to breathe. Mattress was clean but too firm. USB outlets and lamp above the bed were broken. Showers could be cleaner and less moldy but were fine for the price. Overall you get what you pay for, it was nice !

Locations is great, the smaller dorm rooms are nice I ended up sharing with 2 quiet people which was great. Bed was comfy and sheets clean and pressed. The bed had lights and chargers for my phone that all worked and the window opened enough to cool the room down. The toilet was just across the corridor and the breakfast was great. I paid in advance and got it for £4.50. Filter coffee, pancakes from a machine and a selection of yogurts cheeses fruit etc. all for cheaper than a Starbucks coffee. The door locks are noisy on a night however and the under bed lockers squeak when you open them but they would be my only issues and it was me making the noise not anyone else! Staff were all great super friendly and you can leave your luggage for free. If your travelling alone on a budget I would reccomend staying here.

I stayed for 2 nights in one of the pods. It was a lovely experience and the bed was super comfortable. Was also quieter than a normal bunk. Only downside was it wasn’t made when I got there. Not a big deal. The shower was a little on the smaller side but still had plenty of room. The staff was amazing and very knowledgeable about the general area. Will definitely stay again!

As long as you don't mind rough and ready, and sharing a sleeping space, the Clink is ideal. The toilets and showers are clean, with the latter being hot. The dining area is also clean. It was a bit of a struggle to find space in the fridges for storing food, and not everyone washed up after themselves; but with a co-op next door, you don't have to go far to find supplies.

My boots were taken from me by staff while I was sleeping. When I asked them to call the cops, they found my boots in the office claiming that I need to lock them in a specific locker, that matches the bed number, with a padlock because they said people get entire suitcases left behind. The kitchen was super clean and of restaurant quality. Free tea. Hot showers. Laundry. Great location. I'd definitely stay here again. It's worth it if you lock up your valuables and sleep with your keys inside your clothes. Thanks Clink .

Very good location - practically in the center - you can walk to all the most popular attractions in 15-30 min. walk, 5 min walk to King Cross metro station. Very good breakfast for a cheap price (I recommend ordering and paying when booking a room). I used POD, I recommend it - pleasant experience, very comfortable bed, very private.

During a weekend stay in London I stayed at Clink261 for two nights. It is located 5 mins by foot from King's Cross station. My stay was fantastic. The bed was comfortable, the rooms, showers and toilets were very clean, and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Even though I shared the room with 17 other people I slept very well. You have lockers to keep your belongings safe, and if you have forgotten anything like shampoo or other items you can buy those from a small traveler's shop the reception is running. I can fully recommend this hostel.

You get what you pay for, rooms were very small considering there were 6 people in there and the doors are very noisy when they're closing. The showers weren't the best either, water wasn't very warm. For £4.50 the breakfast is pretty good, great price if you just need something quick to grab before heading out.

I choose Clink to my New Year Eve, and it was amazing, every staff are very kind and helpful, I liked the showers, were good and the bathroom had the right size. On NYE, they had a table with food and drinks. Thank you so much Clink! Of course I’ll come back.

I was in the new room with the pods, and they're amazing! Very comfy and private, doesn't feel crowded, and everyone has their own locker space and plugs. Staff is very helpful and friendly, there's activities, a clean kitchen, and area to hang out and meet other travellers. Unfortunately the (female) showers aren't great, the shower heads are fixed and don't have much pressure, and there's barely any possibility to hang clothes or put a bag somewhere to keep it dry. But overall, it's a good hostel, good value for money, and good location!

Great location super close to Kings Cross. Nice kitchen facility but it didn't seem super social. Safe and decently clean with nice staff. Overall a nice hostel to stay at, even in the 18-bed dorms, but not the best for meeting people. For the price, I'd definitely stay again!

I've stayed in this hotel for a number of years now and have seen the improvements they've made to the hostel and it's very appreciated. They recently upgraded some of the rooms to a pod capsule thing and we stayed in that. Excellent sleep, the pods are air conditioned and it's a very nice way of sleeping, you're not getting five star hotel experience but for what it is, it's lovely.

Good hostel with nice rooms, unfortunately no curtain for the beds but there are some walls that help with privacy. The hostel is very well situated for early international trips and general visiting. The hostel is very clean and the shower size is good. Big rooms so unfortunately there is a good chance one guest is a loud snorer.

  • 2/5 Andre M. 4 months ago on Google
Rooms without necessary cleaning. Very expensive for what it offers. I paid 70 euros per night in a normal november weekend, in the capsule bed, and the bed had pieces of chocolate packaging and internal walls were dirty. Bathrooms were small and not well cleaned. Showers were very stinky. My friend had her shoes stolen. Again, for the price, it's not worthy. If it was cheaper, ok, but 70 euros per night.... it's just a lack of respect.

Best hostel I stayed in during my Uk trip. The staff was absolutely great (the two guys at the front desk), the cleaning staff was nice as well. Showers are clean and was able to get warm and hot water for many minutes. The room I stayed in was clean and we were able to open the windows to have fresh hair. I would totally recommend it and would go back again, especially as they are near the King cross station!

Just stayed here for one night between longer stays in other locations. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly and the location was very convenient. It was generally clean and felt safe. I'm a little older and very rarely stay in bunk rooms anymore, but this was fine for one night.

  • 4/5 Michael M. 6 months ago on Google
Nice enough hostel. The pod beds get quite warm but everything is nice and clean. There is a fan for the pod beds but I didn’t realise it was a fan as it looked like a vent. Ear buds as always are a solid idea. Took one star off as my locker wasn’t very good. The ones under the beds can be pulled open enough to slide a hand in so not ideal if you need to stash a laptop.

I have stayed in 3 hostels during my month-long stay in London. I must say, Clink is just the best! Beautiful decor, clean space full of charming aroma, wonderful location (just 3-4 minutes of walk from St Pancras International Station/King's Cross), excellent luggage space in room and reception, extremely generous and well-behaved staff members..... Everything! I must also mention that the other two hostels did not allow me to keep luggage for some extra hours, only Clink did! When other hostels charge you for baggage storage, Clink does that for free!! It was just the best of the hostels in central London... Would highly recommend.

  • 5/5 Mike R. 1 year ago on Google
Great location for my needs, 4 minutes' walk to train and underground stations. Very clean (Seen getting cleaned 3 times at least in 1 day) Room was ideal with each bed own locker and light, 1 or 2 AC power & 2 USB sockets. Washroom had very hot running water with good pressure. (Been too other hostels either add no hot water or no pressure) The receptionist is very friendly and helpful. Great luggage storage, you can leave it here early on day of arrival and go off to sites etc, then check in at 4pm. Check out is 10am or pay a fee for mid-day. On departure you can leave luggage and collect later. I will definitely be back next time in London.

Although not quite as funky as the nearby Clink78, which is currently under refurbishment - there is no Clashbar and no former magistrate court rooms to hang out in - it is nevertheless a conveniently located & reasonably priced place to stay. For example, a private room for 2 will cost you around £50 each per night. Friendly, helpful staff. Clean environment. Recommended.

DO NOT STAY HERE! I arrived to London expecting to stay at clink78 but the location was changed to clink261 last minute. I spent 5 minutes here and had to demand a refund and go elsewhere. Homeless people lying around the lobby all day long, dodgy looking men on the stairs, a prison cell like room, smelly dirty toilets that wasn’t even on the same floor as my room and a lift that barely works. Honestly worst hostel I’ve ever seen, would not let my dog spend the night there. Only benefit was that the girls knew I was wronged and so worked at getting me a refund

  • 3/5 Ronan M. 2 years ago on Google
Great value for money especially for a night or two but I wouldn't recommend for longer stays. the room was pretty dark and had very little airflow making sleeping in warm weather impossible. 2 of the 3 showers where broken and the one that was working could have been a little cleaner. However the staff was great, the location was awesome and it was a cheap hostel so I wasn't expecting much.

Really nice staff and clean rooms. I spent one night in a 18 (mixed) bed room. Eventough it was mixed, the staff tried to seperate men and women. I felt very safe. The location was great, 5 min walk until Kings Cross. I would definitly come back!

Great experience. Check in was quick and they also they give you PIN code to get in to your room if you forget you card. Room can get a bit hot at night and if you are looking to cook then bring few containers with you. There's a grocery shop which is fab!

  • 4/5 David R. 2 years ago on Google
I would definitely recommend this place ;) It's an perfect opportunity to meet a lot of people from abroad and have fun together. I took away one star, as there is no oven in the kitchen and the breakfast was not as varied, as it could be ;) Edit I didn't face any queues to bathrooms despite taking a shower around 9:30 AM. The check in and check out was almost immediate, no problems at all

  • 5/5 Eszter B. 1 year ago on Google
I liked that I didn't have to carry a key card because I got a pin code at check in, which I could use to get into the room or the building. Everything was very clean. The bed was comfortable. Unfortunately, there was a lot of noise from the traffic.

  • 1/5 Yanko K. 2 years ago on Google
Friendly staff, good location, and cheap. But the room smelled absolutely terrible. People were hanging dirty clothes on the radiators and there were no windows to open. The stench was indescribable, and I had trouble falling asleep because of it. I would have gone to a different place had I arrived earlier in the night just because of the smell. The kitchen was clean, and the bathroom/showers were ok. Crammed rooms with beds right next to each other. I would not recommend it even for the price. And it bears repeating, the room reeked.

Nice hostel, stayed for one night in a private twin room with a bunk bed. Clean toilets and showers, friendly staff, accommodations for luggage were great and we were able to check in early for a small fee. Room was stuffy due to heat but a fan was provided. Overall good experience and would stay again, fine for the price if you don’t need many amenities

Awesome hostel. Very clean, friendly, great location. I didn't use the facilities much, but my bed was comfortable, lockers were safe and the check-in process simple. The room (18 mixed dorm) was very hot! Although they provided a sheet, so duvet under / sheet over!

  • 4/5 Daniela T. 1 year ago on Google
It was overall a great stay. The location is awesome, you can get easily anywhere, everything was very clean and the bed was comfortable to sleep in. The rooms are a tad small, but I guess that's what you ask for in a hostel. I had some troubles with the plug on my bed, as it wasn't malfunctioning a bit, and I could never figure out where the light switch was in the bathroom (but gladly only on my first day they were off when I went to the bathroom).

  • 4/5 Inanimate Honest R. 1 year ago on Google
Stayed here for 2 nights. It is very close to the train station, which is quite nice. Unfortunately I was here during a heatwave, and there was no ac, so the rooms got significantly hot, to the point that it would cool down in the night time outside, yet the rooms would still be very hot. Not the fault of the hostel, but still, be warned in warm weather.

Clink 261 is ideally situated 5 minutes walk from Kings Cross Station. So it's transport links by bus and tube to Greater London are fantastic. The rooms & facilities at Clink are really very good & great value for the price! There are communal areas where you can relax. There's also a large kitchen and dining area where you can prepare your own food. Close by Clink, near to Kings Cross Station, there are lots of places to get take away food. So if you're looking for a great value hostel in a fantastic location try Clink 261.

Very convenient location. Rooms and communal spaces are regularly cleaned. Friendly and helpful staff. The room isn't that well ventilated. Feels a bit stuffy. It's a good value experience overall with the super convenient location.

The hostels is close to King's Cross and the location is really well-served day/night. I booked a room for girls (4 beds) and I tried the breakfast. The room was really small, only for sleep (no chairs, sofá, tables, wardrobe), no space for walking. Anyway, the hostels has a lovely kitchen and common area, where you can stay and relax instead of staying alone in the small bedroom. You can cook with other guests and make nice friends like I did. Staff was very nice and welcoming, cleaning is okay. This hostels is really cheap and nice if you travel alone.

The best hostel by far I’ve stayed at, everyone working there was super friendly and always helpful. Shoutout to Adam for organizing a games night and Sunday roast which I was able to meet some great people during my stay. Kitchen is an added bonus to save spending $$ every night.

I rarely write reviews but I strongly felt the need to respond to this grotesque place you call a “hostel”. The location was the only positive from our stay, the staff were quite welcoming, friendly and helpful but the place was an absolute dump. The photos look nothing like the place, it was dirty, run down, smelly, musty, and overall horrid. I’ve stayed in many hostels and this is by far the worst. The rooms had absolutely no space (me and a friend stayed in different rooms and both were like this), they stank and some lockers didn’t work and the same with the personal outlets. The ladies bathrooms had mold all over the ceiling and the smallest sink I have ever laid eyes on, you could not even brush your teeth without getting water everywhere, though the men’s bathroom had multiple vanity’s with mirrors and sinks? The common area was in the basement and connected to the kitchen so there was no air flow and smelt awful from food being cooked. It was also dirty and very old looking. The kitchen wasn’t too bad, just again very small with limited space. During my 2 night stay I felt as though I couldn’t shower here as I would feel dirtier from the showers they have provided. Overall I would not even think about staying here again, it is not even worth the small price-tag.

Great location, very accessible by public transit in London. As it was my first time at a hostel, I was really pleased with the ease, comfort, and cleanliness of staying in the pod my second night. I was in a 6 person room the first night, and as a first time traveler, I was nervous to be the only women with three men. There were no issues, luckily nobody cares, but it was a little smellier than is comfortable to me. Overall, would definetly recommend this location/website to others and encourage solo-women travelers to aim for the female-only dorms.

Super friendly staff, excellent location near King`s Cross train station, toiletries and towels available for reasonable prices. There was no female restrooms on the 3rd floor where I was, so it was a bit annoying in case you need to go during the night. Other than that it was a nice stay!
