Prob the best pub in the borough precinct. Good prices. Less than ยฃ6 for a vodka lime soda. Lots of outdoor heaters attached to the outside to stay warm whilst watching the people pass. Service is very fast at the bar.

I had a pleasant dinner with scotch eggs with salmon, pumpkin & lamb meat pie and sticky toffee pudding. The pie is served with mashed potatoes and gravy sauce with a little bit of cabbage. I especially liked the sticky toffee pudding and recommended to all dessert lovers. While upstairs is the restaurant part, downstairs is the pub part, which makes it easier to go for drinks afterwards. The surrounding area is very lively.

Visited during the day and I found sticky tables, and a dim atmosphere. Decent choice of beer but nothing too interesting. Given the market over the road I think the pub could try a little harder. Great outdoor drinking atmosphere though

Ordered the lamb and beef rump from the Sunday Roast menu. Both meats were tough - we were struggling to cut or slice through with the knives. Both dishes were heavily salted. On a positive note, the Yorkshire pudding was nice!

An amazing Sunday roast. Upstairs in the dining area is well cozy. Service is good and the food is authentic. Even the veggies were fresh and flavoursome! Well recommended!

A decent restaurant with satisfactory offerings. While it may not wow you, it provides a decent dining experience for a casual meal!

Busy on Sat night but not too bad. Nice atmosphere inside, relatively easy to get to the bar and order.

Right outside the borough market, standard pub food. We didnโ€™t want to eat at borough, by the time we got there it was so crowded so found this place to sit and have a good Sunday roast. Hubby ordered the beef and I had the chicken, both were slightly dry but when smothered in the gravy, that helped it. Huge portions.

Nice spot next to Borough Market for a cold, fresh pint. Loved the fish and chips, big portions for reasonable prices.

It's been a while since I was last here. The outside of the Pub was a bit obscured by street food vendors but all in all, it was a great night out. The Rugby World Cup was showing on the TV, The beer was great as usual and of course, it was a great atmosphere. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes real ale and a pleasant atmosphere. I couldn't comment on the food because we were out for drinks but I'm sure, with the vendors outside and the Pub food available, it'd make a great day out. Cheers!

Nice pub right by Borough Market. Neck Oil on tap. Bar lady Florence was lovely. Had just the one screen at back - but enough space to stand and watch Football. Would visit again.

Good pub in Borough Market. 6 beers on handpump when I last visited, including a porter! Can be very busy. The pub retains the traditional early morning market opening from 6:00 to 8:30 am on weekdays.

I recently had the misfortune of visiting this pub and was greatly disturbed by the manner in which I was treated by one of the bouncer. I was subjected to racial abuse, which I found be quite unacceptable. I was left feeling disrespected and marginalised, which is not what one hopes for when visiting a bar. It is my sincere hope that the management takes swift and appropriate action to ensure that this type of behaviour is not repeated in the future. Until such time, I cannot in good conscience continue to support this pub.

Located next to the Borough Market, less than 5 minute walk to London Bridge Underground station. Very tasty pub food. My go-to is mashed potato and sausages.

Great place to have a pint at lunch after having a bite in Borough Market. I'm sure I've seen this chap in Chicken Cottage though

A London favourite, in the heart of Borough market, serving a wide selection of beers, that are good value in an expensive area. Sadly missed out on 5 stars as now card only. ( The original market traders will be turning in their graves)

We hired the upstairs of The Market Porter for my mum and dad's surprise 60th birthday and had the best experience. From initial booking to the actual evening all staff were so communicative and helpful. The space holds around 60 people (standing) and is the perfect size. We ordered buffet food from the pub all of which was delicious and the perfect amount. We brought our own cake with us which the pub allowed us to light and sing happy birthday, as well as decorations and balloons which we were able to decorate the space with. We were also able to connect our phone and play our own playlist through the room's speakers. The pub allowed us early access from 5pm to decorate and get everything ready and then everyone was out by 11/11.30ish. All staff were great on the night too! I would highly recommend this space for a private party and will hopefully be returning myself.

Very average bar, some of the taps produced luke warm beer, a malfunction occurred in the kitchen/ electricity which made ordering food impossible and everything was generally sticky and dirty. Would not recommend going to when the above doesnโ€™t suit you.

On Saturday 10th September, my husband and I decided to take a trip to London for the first time in months, our hot spot was London Bridge and my partner wanted to visit borough market, after a great day adventuring we decided to stop by the market porter pub, Iโ€™ve been contemplating writing this review because I used to love this pub but the atmosphere was very off, however, my husband and I decided to still have a drink, a little while in to us being there the customers started to gather more and become intoxicated, there was security there but they looked out of their depth. The bar staff seemed to be struggling and the manager was outside intoxicated themselves. My husband & I were extremely appalled to see a manager in this state and this is not the kind of atmosphere I would return to.

This is a popular pub in Borough Market, it's going to be very busy at times, especially in the evenings, so set your expectations. But it's well staffed so don't be put off visiting. Good range of real ales, helpful staff.

I love this place. Great selection of beers and ciders and their Sunday roast is spectacular. It's also got a pleasant atmosphere and they're not trying to crowd as many people in as they can. The restaurant overlooks the goings on in Borough Market below you which I think really adds to the atmosphere.

(Translated by Google) A cute selection of beers, both local and global. A pleasant atmosphere and very suitable for a London bar as I imagined it. Downstairs is lovely but upstairs let it down. Got drinks at the bar and headed upstairs to make use of one of the tables which had not been set, at ~5pm. Was rudely greeted by a waitress who said we could only sit there if eating. The restaurant was empty. We said we were waiting for friends and considering it, yet she was still reluctant. Definitely would not go back.

The Market Porter used to be an outstanding real ale pub with friendly, knowledgeable bar staff. I visited recently to find it is now serving almost entirely keg beer, with rude and surly staff. One bloke spent several minutes lecturing me aggressively because I'd accidentally leaned against the wrong section of bar, waving a silly little chalk board in my face. Two stars instead of one because I did manage to get a well-kept pint of Harveys. Never visiting there again.
