Although the staff was friendly, we did not enjoy our stay at the hostel. It was unbelievable how dirty it was. Upon entering the room on our first day, it had not even been cleaned...dirty sink with a dirty sponge left in it and the floors had piles of dust in every corner. Only thing that was cleaned was the sheets. I could not believe it...I mean its basic standards of cleanliness. The carpet in the hall constantly smelled of feet and you can see the dirt all in it as if its not been vacuumed in months. The kitchen was unbearable, it was so disgusting all the time and the showers made me feel more dirty after going inside of them. Its very unfortunate because at the price you pay and location you are in, I would have expected basic standards of cleaning at least. I've stayed at hostels all over the world (much cheaper than this, mind you) and never experienced one this gross. We were planning to stay here for 3-4 months until realizing it was unbearable then when we put in our notice after the third day we were told that we would be forced to stay the two week minimum which was never mentioned upon arrival and was extreemly frustrating.

I have been a resident for a year and three months. Besize house is not accessible to all. The team especially Linda and Thaline are awesome, your greeted with a warm smile, and genuine hospitality. The facilities are basic but functional. There are some issues about the quality, hygiene and repair of the building. One reason that contributes to this is the lack of training for volunteers who service the building, and the lack of oversight on volunteer performance. The people you meet at Belsize House make it special.

Great place to stay in London long and short term. Great location. Rooms are spacious and each floor has 2 shared kitchens, bathrooms with showers and baths and separate toilets. The volunteers clean everyday to maintain the place as clean and tidy as possible. Management is always helpful and they go out of their way to make sure they can accommodate everyone's needs. I've been staying on and off at LHA for the last 3 years and I can call this place home. Renato and Linda are always kind and helpful which definitely adds to the experience.

I WAS TREATED WITH LITTLE RESPECT AND CONSIDERATION BY MANAGEMENT, WITH PREJUDICE AND DISCRIMINATION SEEMINGLY USED AS A MEANS TO ENFORCE HOUSE RULES, WHICH WAS NOT BEING DONE SO OBJECTIVELY. I experienced frequent disturbances which became gradually worst within the last few months of my stay, eventually occuring on a daily basis and well into the early hours of the morning. My own protestations surrounding such disturbances were met with a level of hostility and aggression coming from manager Renato Rossi who, accompanied by an accomplice, would side against me with another resident, before randomly falsely accusing me of damaging property generally used by many other people within the building; this would take place within earshot of other residents on my floor, allowing for the causing of embarrassment, belittlement and shame before my eviction from the property. Renato may also very likely speak to other residents in attempt to confirm his preconceived judgemental beliefs about your personal character, in order that this can be used to further support the eviction management has planned for you despite no previous complaints ever been made.

Loved my visit here. Location is great and gives you access to the underground, shops, bars, and a cinema. Service was good.

Can be potentially better. But with self catering facilities it's still better than many hostels.

It's good for the traveller. Staff were friendly and helpful. There was no mattress protector on the bed and I did not realise that towels were not provided. I didn't notice it on the booking website? Either way, it was good value for the location and would stay here again in the future.

Horrible. Nobody opened the door when I arrived, finally an old lady staying there opened the door. Staff was SO rude, and the place looks SO unsanitary and unsafe. I was paying for a single room, which was located on -1 floor, you could smell humidity and mold, and the kitchen was so dirty. Plus nobody showed me the place, a girl stating there did, and she advised me to be careful and to have a lock in my kitchen wardrobe, as people always steals things. I arrived and left the same day, it was scary, unsanitary and awful. There were weird people

I stayed at LHA Belsize last year and thoroughly enjoyed my time here. I am back again this year as all the staff have been so friendly and helpful to me, not to mention the fantastic location and very affordable price. I would definitely recommend LHA to students or anyone looking for a great place to stay in London. A special thanks to Linda and Renato from the management team for their warm and hospitable nature, they have gone above and beyond, and I am truly grateful for their kindness. Other staff including volunteers such as John and Ossard, deserve recognition for their hard work in keeping the place clean and tidy and for helping you get back into your room at 2am when you have accidently locked yourself out. It has been a pleasure to stay here, and I would happily recommend this fantastic hostel to friends and family alike.

Stayed there recently for 3 weeks. Clean place, big and unlike other LHA' this one is professionally run. Good if you want a cheap place to stay for a short time but had quite a "sterile atmosphere" (definately NOT a party place). The reason I'm giving it 3 stars is a) the place has no safe box or lockers so you can't lock your technological gadgets and valuables (I wouldn't leave those things around unlocked in a hostel) and b) has no heating and they wont reapair it (keeping in mind it was february AND snowing outside it made it quite a chilling experience.

Great value at 40 pounds for my own room, which was fine for the price. Had my own sink. Shared shower was too small to bend over in but I just about managed. Good location with a 5 minute walk to metro. Renato helped carry my big suitcase to the top floor which was very kind. Would recommend and would stay again at that price.

Some weird people, could be cleaner, but most of the guest were good. Recommend for not more than one month if you don’t volunteer (having a free rent)

Great place to stay long-term in London. The location is one of the best in town, well-connected and safe. The facilities are cleaned thoroughly every day and it's affordable. The team does an excellent job at running the place, from the management to all the volunteers :)

Kind staff but def not bothered, take their time.. freezing all over the building including bedrooms where heating never ever works, sometimes no hot water in showers, them being super nasty, not to mention the room as well with floor left uncleaned for ages. The kitchen is unfurnished, figure out your own cutlery, pan, plate, cloth, liquid wash. The area is excessively posh and nothing’s around within a mile, no facilities.. anyway I stayed 2 weeks there but I’d highly nominate this place as a emergency one night stand, no more.

This is only to warn other young people who move in as university students with referral from universities. There are many issues and all negative comments about cleanliness are right.

Excellent. This hostel is located close to the centre of London. It has several underground stations nearby, restaurants and supermarkets. The staff is very friendly and will help you with anything you ask for. There is a shared TV area and a beautiful garden where you can relax. They also comply with COVID sanitary measures, respecting the safety distances and the rules.

This LHA house is a good spot, VERY clean and loads of facilities due to the great coordination of their team (volunteers coming from different parts of the globe, especially America, both Central and South) and the permanent staff; the advantages of its huge garden and small study room. They are absolutely astonishing, from the reception stuff (check in/out easy and simple) all the way up to the partners. They are superb, very warm, caring people, always patient, and very proficient and prompt.
