Been a member at Equinox since 2015, starting in NYC, then moved to London in 2017 and the level of Equinox Kensington has been on a continuous decline since then with a sharp acceleration in the standard of what one has come accustomed to at both Equinox and from what to expect from gyms and fitness clubs these days. Unfortunately I can’t take a picture of the air temperature in the gym for obvious reasons, but the fact that they don’t have a functioning AC system that keeps the gym cool is just the beginning. It is warmer in the gym than it is outside on a hot day. Not to mention that the dressing rooms don’t have functioning ventilation system, making the dressing room compete with a hot and humid Middle East in August. And the reason for not fixing it the management team just keeps referring to the local building management team. As for faulty equipment, when things break - even simple things as a water pump switch, these things will go unfixed for months. Not to mention the equipment itself which is old an outdated. The most new piece of equipment in addition to the pec/delt fly machine which is more than a year and a half old are new ergonomic handles to lat pull/row machine. Last but not least, one cannot overlook the poor level of cleanliness. It’s simply beyond acceptable. Layers of dust, hair, and dirt is spread out across the gym. And the explanation one gets is that they cannot find cleaners (!!). After these points it’s only fair to mention the good parts - which are simply a bright and spacious gym. That one cannot take away. It’s not a gym hidden in a basement. You actually have a feel like you’re training in proper daylight. The general ambiance/style is nice (but a bit dated), but does indeed give a feel for a nice gym. But when one just takes a little extra look and not much further beyond the surface, Equinox is at a very disturbing low level - and there are always excuses for why and no remedied and fixes. So unless you live in the very proximity there is no reason to sign up for Equinox.

Gym is nice and clean. Never really crowded but I hate the fact that they close the valves for the water fountains almost entirely to try to reduce costs. People will still drink water but it takes almost a minute to fill up a 0.5l bottle. Makes me angry every single day 🥶

Nice facility. Everything you could possibly ask for in a fitness club. The cafe / lounge is very convenient. The music is pretty chill and eclectic. You enter the building along the side street not from the High St. You then take the elevator to the 5th floor. The same floor as Warner Music. Please note: You don’t have to show your phone to the front desk to gain entry. You just have to click “CHECK IN” on the app. Your profile turns green and it means your good to go. The human behind the desk will see your face and details on their screen.

Unfortunate experience so far. I was a member at Beverly Hills and renewed my membership with the Kensington club when I moved back to London. It’s a totally different customer experience. Front desk staff might as well be replaced by machines where we can self check in. They are always too busy gossiping amongst each other to acknowledge members walking in and then make you feel like a criminal by asking to see your check in bar code. There is only 1 maybe 2 nice girls. Will be cancelling as soon as I can

Great gym, appalling staff. The class instructors don’t have a clue what they’re doing and are rude and obnoxious. On top of that, management don’t care.

Good gym and good vibes, however, theft happening in the locker rooms (apparently all the time). The staff does not put any signs on the locker not to "harm" the brand and to make it known public such frequent occurrences of theft in the gym of this calibre. Members working out with their watches on to prevent theft from the lockers. Equinox should have put small lockers where the members can place their valuables which are under CCTV at all times. The clientele certainly deserves it. Totally incompetent staff.

Receptionists are really arrogant and unfriendly. PTs are at very low standard, to the point where I didn’t even take the free session offered to me. The gym is packed with people who don’t know how to train and have zero gym etiquette. It’s very expensive. The changing rooms were tidier, but they’re getting progressively worse. For the price, you’d expect it to have a swimming pool.

Dodgy staff. Thieves. Stole my diamond ring stolen from my locker while I was working out. Bunch of thieves. Reported to the management. Nothing was done about it, just a phone call from a supervisor "Sorry for the theft" Complete bunch of incompetent idiots. The only good thing about this gym is Kiehl shampoos, but beware of your valuables while you are taking shower of course.

My Cartier bracelet was stolen from Equinox locker in the middle of the day. I have read previous reviews and it seems that indeed staff (hopefully management doesn't have a hand in this) steals valuables from the members. The gym has reasonable amount of upper class clientele and such theft looks like a normal day in the gym. This has been reported to the management and the management is acting as usual (just got a call from gm saying "sorry"). Beware of these thieves.

I love the Equinox brand and the facilities. I met with a gracious Membership advisor that showed me the spa and was considerate towards me. Today I went there to try a class. I run my own wellness business and started working at reception and front desk almost 20 years ago. I am familiar with protocol and how to treat potential clients and guests. I was met by a man that offered very little help and took himself way to seriously. He refused to contact any management on my behalf, to verify what I was told nor did he even offer to do so, over a simple issue. The way people treat you, when they think that you are beneath them. Here is what I should have been told. "I will do my my best to accommodate your request. If not today, then tomorrow? What is your email for further contact? I will get in touch with management as soon as I am able to." Ultimately, weird and veiled power dynamic vibes.

I have been an Equinox member since 2017. The gym is gorgeous and clean, the staff helpful and friendly, and it offers awesome classes. The SPA is lovely and the masseurs competent (specially the Spanish physiotherapist). Additionally, the gym is open all days of the year a part from Christmas. However I am giving 3 stars because of few points which I am going to highlight: 1) After the steam room, it would be great to have a relaxing area but the only thing you can do is sitting on a bench and avoid someone else’s bum in your face 2) Some machineries are not always top-notch like the one in the picture below 3) Sometime the bar’s service can be very slow. Once I only wanted to pay a bottle of water but I had to wait 5 minutes 4) They spent over 3 months refurbishing the steam room and showers. These 3 months were terrible not only because the steam room was unavailable, but quite often you had to wait 5-10 minutes to have a shower because only 3 out of 10 were available. Because of this, few members left during this period and nothing was offered to those who remained - a part from apologies All in all is a great gym but I cannot hide that for £215 a month I would expect a different service.

I was a member in Feb 2020, after joining for 6 days and going to a few classes , I decided to try the Spin class on the 6th day. There was no proper orientation for new members and I ended up injuring for ankle as my right foot got stuck in the peddle. It has been 9 months since my accident and my ankle never recovered and am still suffering. Having been contacting the management when the accident happened, I tried to negotiate for my initial membership fee be returned since I was only a member for 6 days, not only were they unsympathetic of my injury and took no responsibility in the defect of their machine which caused my injury, the management cancelled my membership prematurely without refunding me. Shame on the management as the overall team is very friendly and competent gym instructors.

I want to highlight that my father is a member there and he has recently been a victim of organised crime by either a member at equinox or a staff member. His credit cards got stolen from his locker, as well as his SIM card from his phone while he was in the shower. With these valuables they have managed to steal more than £10.000, as they were able to confirm the two-factor authentication security system. A report has been filed and we have contacted the police but the equinox team have not put much effort into helping and they really should make this crime more publicity aware in the gym so that it does not happen to anyone else.

As a potential future member, I visited the club the other day and I can confidently say that I am not that impressed. First of all, on arrival the reception was attended by just one member of staff whom was caught up with 2 other members and so I had to wait around 7-10 minutes to be acknowledged. That gave me time to notice that the minimalist design of the reception was quite basic and needed refurbishment. It took them more than 10 more minutes and 2 calls from reception until someone eventually arrived to talk me through the membership options. He was a lovely chap, David and I was ready to be overwhelmed but in reality they really cannot justify the £210/month when there is no swimming pool and they only have a couple of studios for classes. I am guessing it can get quite busy in there. But they do have olympic level PT's there and fancy trainers that look like models. In reality, the main open space gym floor is quite stunning within this gorgeous Grade 1 listed building and the machines are top tech but at the same time everyone seems to be so perfectly toned and pretty, you may have confidence issues going there to train. The staff do smile nicely and make you feel welcome once you're through the doors which was actually nice and comforting. No doubt, overpriced Lulu Lemon plus other designer gym clothing was at sale in their shop, they do have steam and sauna rooms, own brand bottled water, a personal laundry service and £140 massages, just so you know. I failed to ask which of the extra services are included in the membership fee, but my guess is as good at yours. Perhaps none? Lost 1 star on waiting times and 1 more on the lack of swimming pool and high fees.

stinky and dirty locker rooms, the hair straighteners looked like they haven’t been cleaned in years, rusty equipment, the gym is always packed without enough space for everyone.. the only good thing was the variety of classes but not worth the price! looks and feels like i’m in a really cheap gym

I joined equinox long time ago when they opened in the UK. I was thrilled about it all the experience. Few months later installations, nonsense replies from the management and others did not convince me to stay. It was a way too much money paying to have so many issues in the establishment. It’s been managed very bad since the beginning. It’s pure marketing with a name- Keep scrolling and reading the reviews…. ppl are rising their voice to avoid having negative experiences. No wonder ppl join and leave 😆I’m sure you’ll do the same…welcome to equinox 🙈🤦

More of a news and drama hub. Taking from the general manager all the way to the front house! Unprofessional, unethical and unkind. None responsive, non cooaperative and discriminative behavior. Trainers are mostly after dating and whatever you name it except training. Keep looking at you like they are a big shot and you are the extra topping on the muffin that no one likes. Sunday they hello you back and some other days they don’t. Overal it’s a tiny trainer centered gym with equipments pushed to the center of the gym floor with horrible gym floor service and of course terrifying Munchfit with rude management and dishonest service. I’ve been trying all of the branches. Are all the same.

*UPDATE* The gym has great changing facilities with Khiels products. My only criticism about them would be the GHD hairdryers which aren't not powerful at all, which slightly annoying. The gym itself is really clean and seems to have all the equipment you'll probably want/need (I am a complete gym beginner). I booked a block of Personal Training sessions which I have really enjoyed, however I am not sure they are worth what the gym are charging. I would expect a program and food plan etc. Fortunately my PT has kindly offered to do this for me, but apparently it is not usually included.

They stole nearly £500 from me. I'm a disabled person (who they don't cater for), that had to stop my membership for medical reasons, which I provided evidence for. They were legally required to refund me some money I'd already paid, they said this themselves, but never did. I've contacted the company 7 times and what a surprise, usually they respond straight away but now I've been completely ignored for several weeks. Yep, they've done a runner with a disabled person's money. Absolutely disgusting. It must take a special sort of crook to scam a disabled person. Reporting them to trading standards and disability rights.

On the surface facility looks decent, but underneath a complete disaster. And management that’s either dishonest or incompetent. Changing rooms uncomfortably humid. Broken/inconsistent HVAC. Water fountains broken for months now. Steam room frequently out of order. Cafe protein shakes are foul, no fresh ingredients (if you’re used to juice generation in nyc, lower your expectations) Many better gyms in London at similar price point, don’t get fooled by the fancy decor. Poor layout, squat racks cramped into one corner.

The customer service is great especially when you need flexibility with membership. Spotlessly clean, well maintained and incredible yoga classes. I don’t know why some people give this one star, I have been a member since it opened years ago and it’s the best gym on High Street Kensington for the balance of classes and inspiring training environments. The only thing to make it better would be pool on the roof garden - maybe one day! Thank you equinox 🙏

Exceptionally crowded at peak times, poor maintenance (one water station has been “out of order” for many months, locked roof room leaks), shower water temperature fluctuates rapidly up/down while showering and the staff could use some training. Two staff examples: 1. Meat head trainer came up to me while I was stretching with headphones on and asked, repeatedly, if I had been using the bench. No, I had not, but I ignored him the first time. He kept pressing and I said “no, why??” and he then accused me of leaving weights on it. 2. Just now was in the steam room which closes 15 minutes before the gym closes. Locker room attendant came in quite early to shut it down and I asked him if it was 8:45. He said yes and I knew it wasn’t so stepped out to check my phone to confirm (8:39). He closed the door back but didn’t turn it back. Lying to your customers is not a good look.

Dear Equinox Kensington, Before leaving London, I wanted to say enormous thank you to the whole team! I will be missing the girl at the reception who would salute me by my name in the morning, Hugo's jokes and amazing classes, as well the lavender scented cold towels we got during spinning or running. I so much enjoyed having a chat with my friend at the bar... you have the best matcha latte with cashew milk! Totally recommend it! If I come back to London, I will be more than happy to come back to the family of Equinox. Kisses and hugs, Ivelina

It's not a bad gym, the thing is, it's not a good gym. For the price they charge, it's just not worth it. I've tried coming at different times and it makes no difference, it is impossible to get on the equipment. As someone who has responsibilities outside of the gym, I just can't wait around 30-40 minutes for equipment to open up.

Everything looks amazing until you actually get to the gym area. The layout and spacing is very poor and the overcrowding makes it worse. The only positive I can think of is that it's kept clean and the machines are maintained well but this is absolutely not worth the membership cost, you are better off going to a standard gym. If you still want to try Equinox the Bishopsgate branch runs laps around the Kensington one in every way

The gym is great but the customer service and the management do their best only to make you a member but after that any kind of problem you have or if you need to cancel the membership they don’t do anything to help you and just put you to talk with someone else over and over. I have been dealing with them for more than 3 months for the same issue which comes from them. Being reassured that everything is fixed and keep receiving emails for outstanding fees out of nowhere. Big disappointment.

Definitely would not recommend this place. So many gorgeous gyms opened up around Kensington, At first staff are friendly! (of course) Try find out about your goals!(🙄) This use to be David Bowie’s nightclub! (Wonderful and what response are you hoping for?) This is more of a private members gym! (No It really Isn’t) You can get your gym gear washed! (Yeah for an extra charge I will take it home thank you) There is a sauna in the changing room! (One sauna amazing) A little spa! (I will go and have an experience elsewhere) Basically these staff are very devious! They are clearly not going to be the same with everyone, because they would not get away with it, but I would definitely bare in mind you could be one of there victims. At times they are no better than dodgy dealers. And basically the gym is no better than anywhere else. I could post pictures to prove my claim. At this moment In time I won’t, just remember! What ever the staff say to you, what they mean is the opposite. They have your back! No there own back! And commission! only these will go to any lengths to get it!! Basically!! 1* Is because it was David Bowie’s club.

Has all the equipement you need but is terribly cramped when busy, all machines are ontop of eachother, no real space to do walking lunges or anything that requires space. 2 small stretching areas and the dressing room are a horrible design, you have to walk through everyone. This equinox is nothing in comparison to the equinox gyms ive been to in New York.

I love going to Equinox on High Street Kensington, it has a lot of natural light, and the venue looks amazing. But my experience at this gym was made whole lot better by my PT, Lucas Salge, not only do I see clear results in my physical appearance but my mindset got stronger too, he always knows how to make a workout enjoyable and when to push my limits. I never was so excited to get to a PT session, Lucas Salge is the BEST!

I have been a member for a few years and workout since I was in my 20s. I believed I had seen it all in the world of workouts. However my perspective changed when I had the privilege of training under the guidance of an outstanding personal trainer. What truly sets Matteo Panetta apart from the rest is his ability to provide effective tips ( workout routine & nutrition) that I had never come across during my years of training. I have achieved results I never thought possible. If you are looking for a PT who goes above and beyond to ensure your success, I wholeheartedly recommend Matteo!

Suffering from lower back issues for several years, I decided to start pilates lessons at Equinox Kensington. I was offered a complimentary session by the gym which I recently joined. I quickly decided after the first session to pay in advance for 12 more sessions. I'm most grateful to my pilates instructor Delicia Gordon, who in two sessions has significantly helped me overcome my lower back problems. I can't recommend her enough. She's an absolute joy to work with. She's kind, patient, professional and extremely competent. Thank you to Delicia!

Instructors are super friendly and you can always ask them questions at the end of the class, especially if you’re a newbie or are unclear about how to correctly use equipment. The space itself is very nice and is kept clean at all times. There’s MUNCH FIT, to have coffee/eat after working out. You can also work from the raised table with benches, enough space for laptops and to plug your charging devices.👩🏻‍💻☕️ Toilet facilities are impecable if you have to balance your ‘exercise-going to work right afterwards’ routine. I’m very happy with this gym. PS: Big fan of Metcon3 and Strong classes by Hendrick F

What's wrong with people giving low reviews to equinox? Everything works, the place is clean and staff is helpful. Yes here and there you'll find some ridiculous guy/girl but isn't this the same across all gyms? Yes it will cost you 240/250 a month but no one is forcing you to go there there I a virgin across the road and you can always find a fitness first if you don't want to spend that kind money.

There is mould and mildew in the men’s changing room, probably due to the lack of ventilation and humidity level from the trapped air. It is impossible to go from the gym to work without sweating through your clothes whilst getting changed. Appalling.

A member for six months. Almost faultless. Employees here seem to be unanimously friendly, courteous and enthused for their work, right across from the receptionists, cafe staff, cleaners and up to the excellent personal trainers and polite managers. The equipment is modern and pristine and one rarely waits for anything; the studios (boxing, pilates etc.) are immaculate and luxurious – as are the changing rooms. The members are also almost invariably friendly.

Good fitness equipment but the air conditioning is pretty poor. Also, the cost is quite high.

Very expensive for a quite basic gym, no swimming pool, no jacuzzi, but overall is a nice place

Love the gym and been a member over three years now, however not happy that they reduced the guest passes to 2 per year instead of 10 as they used to be. I’ve actually brought in a member and always tell others about it however this is NOT COOL.

I'm sure this place is OK but they should be clearer that they don't allow equinox US members, even for a day

Equinox Kensington has an awesome variety of facilities and great service. You can find a relaxed atmosphere with plenty of room and space to work out. The gym is absolutely clean and very well equipped. I would definitely recommended to anyone.

I love Equinox! As a member of the Equinox Sports Club in NYC, I decided the day I landed in London to do an Athletic Conditioning class in the Kensington location and it was superb. The staff are excellent, super accommodating and personable. It was such fun and I am definitely looking forward to returning and participating in more classes come the holidays. Thank you EQUINOX for a fit workout and a fab experience.

Equinox facilities as a whole are top notch. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The equipment is clean and well maintained making it a great gym overall. You even get chilled towels! Also, having the spa in the gym is a great plus. Had one of the best massages here!

I trained here in 2017 and rejoined this year after moving back to Kensington. With Equinox you get what you pay for: Lots of space, equipment, clean and well maintained. I can put my headphones on, and be confident that I can do my program without waiting for equipment or getting a bunch of attitude. It doesn't look hardcore on the website, but the equipment is all there for powerlifting and bodybuilding if that's what you're into. 3 Deadlift areas and able to drop the weights (within reason), racks, hammer strength machines, dumbbells up to 54kg. Flat bench, incline, decline etc. There is rarely a time where you can't get what you need. Seems to have a good mix of lifters of various skill levels and targets. Even if I'm not in Kensington for a full year the annual cost is still worth it IMO. Hopefully the January rush isn't too bad here as I am writing this in November....

I applied for a position here a while back and got through to an interview over the phone. Once finished, I would have expected at least an email back letting me know if I had succeeded in securing the position or not with some feedback. I heard absolutely nothing back. It was a complete waste of my valuable time as I had declined other interviews with other companies in the real hopes of getting this position. I have now landed a much better position in a much better company and will seriously recommend anyone to look elsewhere. So so poor from the recruitment team.
