Please don't judge me on my very messy, very full plate 🤭 food is great and what a lovely staff. We got there on a Sunday and the lady at the desk asked if we have a booking, which we didn't. She explained Sundays are particularly busy and it's best to book upfront. She then still managed to get us a table, which we are very thankful for. The staff at the food bar was attentive and had great customer service skills. I'm very happy with the visit, can't wait to be back again.

So disappointed. We had a table for 12 people booked for 5pm on Sunday. Upon arriving at 4:45pm we were told by Alfie (the kid trying to grow a mustache) that the table was still occupied but he'll give them a 15 minute warning. Fine. We all grabbed a drink at the bar. At 5pm I went back to Alfie to get an update. He said they're still eating dessert and it will be a bit longer. I asked that he inform them again that there are people waiting, but he said he wasn't going to. At 5:15pm we approached Alfie again for an update. He said they were paying the bill. At 5:30pm and with six very hungry children with us, we asked for another update. He informed us that they still hadn't paid the bill they were given 15 minutes earlier. I requested that he perhaps approach the table with the card machine to initiate payment. He refused. I asked how long they're allowed to sit there and the response was "until they choose to leave". I asked if this could potentially be another hour, to which Alfie replied "might be". At that point we cancelled our booking and went to a different restaurant nearby where the service was incredibly accommodating. They got a 5 star review. Your garden area was also the most revolting place I've ever stood. Covered in thousands of cigarette butts, crushed cans and litter. A truly awful experience.

Impulsive decision to have dinner here on Sunday. A very warm and friendly greeting. Great service and generous helpings of sliced meats. We had lamb and beef, so good really tasty sides, Mac cheese and cheesy potatoes were delicious. No room for deserts but will be going back very soon.

Well as soon as i walked in the door i was greeted by the shift supervisor Alfie, a big smile and a little cheeky banter. Wins me over straight away. Although busy and clearly under pressure the team worked extremely well together all were so polite and being in the same industry this is the greeting we set examples to. If this was my team i would be proud. The food quality and portions knock the ewell branch out of the park. Iv definitely found my new carvery spot.

Went on a idle Friday night and service was beyond slow.. had to go hunting for the receptionist to sit, the waiter to order and later to pay the bill. Food was decent. I would just recommend some basic ascetics when it comes to food service like wear gloves if you are at the carving station cutting meats, don't mix the serving utensils between the dishes as you dont know who has allergies, and if you drop the meat on the counter top, dont serve it (the five second rule is not a thing at a proper restaurant).

First visit to this branch. Impressed with speed and quality of customer service. Nice pint of London Pride. Very good quality of carvery meat and trimmings. Certainly one of the best Toby's we have been too for quality of food and service. Pity we didn't live local.

Food was very nice and very generous portions... And you can go back to get more veggies if you need to... So first you get the meat and veggies you need from the carvery counter and later if you need to top up veggies then you can go and top up, but you cannot top up meat... Have to order a new one... The highlight for me was their gravy (Toby's special secret gravy), it is one of the best I ever had as gravy from any such sort of restaurants... For some this may not be important but for me it is one thing I find very useful "Clean toilets"... I think we should have a rating for clean toilets too when you rate a restaurant... There are some well known restaurants I have been to and finding smelly toilets surprised (in a bad way, obviously) me... You would not expect to find a smelly toilet in such a place... So I was happy to find that the toilets here were not smelly... I had beef from carvery and my wife had lamb, it is painful to say lamb tasted better than the beef I had😅... The Home baked chocolate brownie was very nice too... Hope you'll also have a great meal from there...

Good hearty carvery was had by my husband and I. We had a prawn cocktail starter ordered through our waitress. Meat was carved, we had all 3 meats on offer and good assortment of vegetables were on offer too. We like lots of gravy on our roasts and the help yourself facility for this was good. Waitress service for drinks was also satisfactory. We would definitely visit again. Thank you.

Great wait staff. Very friendly and helpful and silently acknowledged my disability by giving us a close table on the ground floor. Staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Food was fresh and tasty and there was plenty of choice. Price for 2 was excellent for such a great meal. Disabled parking could be improved. Not enough spaces.

Not a bad place I guess, foods quite nice, the breakfast I don’t go much on but the roast is lovely 👍🏻 staff fairly friendly apart from the carving staff what miserable people! Why do the job if your not happy! Can get quite noisy and busy. But it’s a ok place nice food and for value also. Lots of parking just be sure to put your registration number in the machine when enter the pub 🙄 very quick on giving tickets!

I would not come back to this one this is probably the worst Toby's I have been to. This place doesn't have lamb only on special occasions which is new to me because every other Toby's has lamb and if that's the case it shouldn't be advertised on the menu. All of the side dishes had ran out and the staff were not particularly bothered in topping them up I had to ask them to do so, the staff behind the counter were too busy packing takeaway food rather than topping up the sides which there was none of. Please avoid this one and go to another one such as Eden park/ mitcham which are much better. This place will never see me again.

Old school chain carvery. The place you take your gran. We were lucky to have a fresh beef joint pulled out. Other things looked a little 'old' but we were in there on a Wednesday late afternoon, it's a different story in the evenings and especially on a Sunday when it's manic in there. Server was very nice. We enjoyed our meal. It was nice and quiet at the time

We arrived early and the lads at the bar were amazing. Alfie was really great with accessibility and inclusivity as I am disabled. The kitchen staff were really kind and accommodating. Overall Leah was the BEST host and provided everything we needed. She also helped me carry my plate to the table as I use a walking stick. There was another young lady who was also amazing. Overall we had an incredible time and it was a great example of how good Toby can be. We brought my friend from South Korea with us to experience an English Christmas Dinner and she LOVED IT! 5 stars. Many thanks. Will definitely be coming back! I hope ALL the staff can get recognition for being so kind and sweet to everyone. They absolutely smashed it last Saturday. The staff are why we always return to the Croydon branch. Wonderful set of people! MERRY CHRISTMAS!

The restaurant was clean and we were greeted by a lovely waitress who took us to choose a table all the staff were helpful and kind. We felt at ease, the food was lovely. We will be coming back to eat here again.

Lovely to have lamb, although it was a little tough. The beef was excellent, as usual. My friend and I could not finish our plates (they were NOT piled high), so I asked if we could have a container to take the veggies home. I was informed that they didn't have any. This is surprising, as you do take away and delivery...Eventually, our server Martyn found a round container (no lid) and some cling film. Absolutely ideal. He deserves recognition for his thoughtfulness.

We were served by Scarlett. What a delight! She couldn't do enough for us, she was polite, attentive and very professional. We enjoyed a carvery lunch and a desert, and throughout she checked in in us regularly. We had a lovely chat when we were paying. Good luck to Scarlett! You'll be successful what ever you choose to do.

Staff were lovely and couldn't be any more helpful. I had the roast beef meal from their carvery and it was so delicious I went back for seconds - their roast potatoes are to die for! Very good value for money and overall a very good experience. Well done to all the staff there.

We had an offer on the main course (£6) which was exceptionally good value. The wine was also reasonably priced. The whole meal was enjoyable, but the vegetables & plates could have been a bit hotter.

Impromptu visit to the Toby carvery last Monday. We were greeted by Alfie who we think could be the manager a really lovely and hospitable young man. He showed us to our seats and asked if we wanted drinks straight away. The food was yummy, the staff were all very professional and attentive I believe it must be due to good team work and great leadership from the manager Alfie. We will definitely be visiting again soon! ☺️

Think my family went at a very bad time. The carvery server seemed to have to do everything on his own. The kitchen must have been very behind as there were only 'left over' vegetables and the potatoes were hard and the stuffing dried out. The coup de grace was no Yorkshire Puddings. These were brought to our table AFTER we had eaten our dinners! Not the best experience.

These guys are showing how's its done during a pandemic. Easy to book a table, seated away from others, quick and friendly service, good portion sizes. It's frustrating that there is a need for the wait staff to carry your plate to your table in order for them to stay open, but I can handle more people touching my plate if it means I get more carverys!

First time to the Croydon branch yesterday afternoon for lunch. We arrived early & were given a table without an issue. Food was great & the service from all staff members was even better. This will now become a regular fixture for us. Keep up the good work Toby Carvery Croydon!! 10/10

The staff were really friendly & happy to assist throughout the peculiar new dining experience. Food was enjoyable. If I had to make one suggestion or comment, it would be on the confusion of ordering your food by a pre printed sheet & having to reference prices by using the usual menu's. Then told when attempting to pay (which I was grateful for but could have made clear when arriving) to download Toby app for deals which ended up not working anyway. Perhaps I found this more difficult than others as first time eating out this year, so may be the norm.

Very reasonable, great staff and portion sizes the size of your head! Social distancing wasn’t enforced in the queues which made me feel uneasy which is why I’ve only given it 2 stars. I imagine in Covid free times, it’s popular and worth a visit for a cheap and cheerful lunch/dinner.

First waitress who took our order was incredible and brilliant with the children. Second waitress bringing the food out and taking the rest of the order was unengaged and difficult to find when needed. We asked for dessert and was advised they would have to make cream. After 30 minutes we gave up and looked for someone to get us the bill. The two stars are for the fact the kids food was good enough and came out promptly

We went to Toby Carvery last night, 15th December and was very disappointed with the food & service. 1st regarding the food, the Turkey & beef that had was very cold. I managed to eat some but not much. The roast potatoes were very overdone, burnt & hard, couldn’t eat those. We did mention this to the waitress, but she just said ‘sorry to hear that’, and walked off. 2nd, regarding drinks. I asked the waitress for a red wine spritzer. Was asked whether soda or lemonade, I said lemonade, I got it with soda. Couldn’t drink that as I didn’t like the taste. Food & service very disappointing. Left Toby feeling just as hungry as before I went🙁

Unbelievable bit of grub. King Size Beef and Gammon (gutted they had run out of lamb)! Dauphinoise potatoes, mac and cheese, cauliflower cheese, swede mash, beef dripping potatoes, stuffing. 10/10 fresh, hot, flavoursome. What a gaff. Someone give this place a Michelin star. If I’d of poked my head in the kitchen I’d of no doubt caught a glimpse of Gordon Ramsay and Heston Blumenthal double teaming the hot plate. Jamie Oliver on pot wash, Ainsley Harriet on desserts... who knows??? You heard it here first!!! Up the TC!!! COYTC!!!

Great food options for vegetarians, so many vegetable dishes to choose from and delicious but poor star rating due to positioning of items... Animal dripping roast potatoes behind regular potatoes which means for cross contamination. I don't believe the spoons were labelled for veggie roasties (usually green) and animal fat ones. If they sort those things out it would definitely be worth more stars in future 👍🏼

Pleasant and helpful staff, but seemed a bit disjointed with the food supplies at times - temporarily running out of Yorkshire's, and not having any parsnips/leeks - which is possibly not their fault considering the on going issues nationally. It was also pretty busy.

Really disappointed because I usually have positive experience with this car very but today some of the food was cold, turkey tasted like it was about a week old, the gravy was literally unbeatable and it had never tasted like that before. Although the gammon and Mac and cheese was tasty probably the only things that tasted nice 👎

The only good thing about our visit to South Croydon Toby Carvery was our waitress. She was funny, accommodating and polite. If this was our first visit to a Toby Carvery we would never go back. Meat serving on Carvery was miniscule, most veg was hard and cold. The decor is awful, peeling and rotten window frames, worn out carpet, dirty toilet. No Christmas feeling at all unlike the branch in Eden Park, which looks fab, warm and inviting. Extremely poor show and not a pleasant experience at all

It tasted like water. The turkey was dry. The beef was good though. The gammon looked like a first generation pokemon. No yorkshire puddings, probably still in yorkshire. The mac and cheese was decent but didn’t have any cheese, just mac. The best thing was the veg but hear what though lads, worth a try

First thing I noticed was the sticky table and lack of cutlery. We waited quite a while for our drinks to be ordered and even longer for them to arrive. The meat and Yorkshires were nice but the rest was not that great. It took forever to have the plates cleared and desert ordered . Not somewhere I'd go again.

VERY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE. I visited Toby Carvery South Croydon on 3/11/21. Only the 2nd time in a year that I had been out to lunch, I was very happy. When I arrived I was greeted and taken straight away to my table, to await my friends. The food was good value and the waitress was pleasant. However the restaurant was freezing cold. We kept our coats and scarves on but were still very very cold. We could hear the other diners complaing to each other. When queried, we were told that their boiler was broken. I believe the teperature that day peaked at 10 degrees but it felt colder inside than out. It would have been a nice gesture of goodwill if the management had offered all diners a complementery hot drink to help warm us up. Some of us diners actually asked but the management refused. We bought our coffees anyway. We said we would be glad to leave to return to our cars, to put our heaters on, to warm up, we heard other diners saying the same. It that wasn't bad enough, on 13/11/21 I received a parking fine of £85.00 from Euro Car Parks. Apparently I should have been asked for my car reg details on arrival, which would have been registered. I wasn't asked or informed of this, I was taken straight to my table. I had no idea this was the procedure. I have appealled. It's a shame that due to bad management this was such a negative rexperience for us. Over to you Toby Carvery

Took advantage of the 40% offer yesterday. Service, food and choice up to its usual 'good value for money' standard, although I found all the food to be on the tepid side, rather than hot! That was the only minus. I have to say that Abdul - one of the carvers - was really nice and customer friendly (even if he didn't carve me an extra slice) ;) I hope his bosses appreciate him.

We ordered a Chicken Burger for my Son which consisted of 4 Chicken Nuggets in a dry Bum. And a small bowl with 3 Carrot sticks and 3 Cucumber sticks. How is this a meal? When we asked for some Tomato Ketchup, we were told that you ran out of it last week and you did not have anymore. The menu also stated that with every Child’s main order, they are entitled to as many Potatoes and Vegetables as they like from the Carvery. Only to find out after I had paid that we were charged £3.99 for a Children's veg carvery??? Not very happy at all with this. Our Waiter was nice though.

Awful. Meat tasteless and everything else for that matter. No cranberry sauce, veg had run out, no roast pork at all - and it was only 7pm. Disgusting food. They used to be so good. Going back to the other one we used to go to. Hope they haven't changed. They forgot to bring one dish.

Lovely service and we were shown to a really good table by Ana. Very patient answering lots of questions. Our server was Maddie who was exceptional! She was super busy but made us feel as if we were the only guests. She helped us with our menu choices, remembered all our orders without a pad and holding about 30 plates! And was so good with our fussy kids. Also special and huge mention to chef Abdoulaye. He was amazing. Just great with the guests and children. Such a lovely way with the guests. Thank you.

I visited the restaurant with my parents and girlfriend just before Christmas. Although my parents live very close to it, we'd never been there before. The meal was fantastic - lots of tasty food, all served hot and in very generous portions. We all had the three-course option which is excellent value for £19.99 and we received a first-class service from the attentive staff. We will definitely be back in the New Year.

Good portion size and plenty of choice. However 7-8 minute wait to be seated. Apple sauce not replenished. Condiment area cleared too early. Restaurant was not tham warm.

Alfie was super super friendly and lovely. Made some menu suggestions. I witnessed how he was with other customers as well, he had the same energy! Friendly and familiar with his guest. Pay rise definitely needed. The roast was lovely as always! Only thing is I got charged for kids carvery, I thought veggies and gravy were free for kids? I’ll call up tomorrow to double check. Either way we had a lovely meal. Looking forward to our next one!

had a wonderful lunch experience at Toby Carvery in South Croydon with my wife and son. The manager, Charlotte, was exceptionally pleasant, professional, and welcoming. The food was delicious, with a great variety of well-cooked meats and tasty side dishes. The cozy atmosphere and cleanliness of the restaurant added to the overall positive experience. Highly recommended for a fantastic dining outing.

After us accidentally booking a table for 4 instead of 6 today, Ana and Carrie-Ann thought on their feet and managed to find space to push together a single table with a table for 4 in order to accommodate us, as they didn’t have any space for a table of 6 and were booked up due to it being Sunday lunch time. I was also impressed by the way in which I heard them considering disabled customers and their access, when they were planning where to seat us. The food was great and the team carving the meat were friendly and professional. The restaurant was modern and clean too. I’d definitely return here if I was in the area again!

Great service after a booking mix up on our part. Charlotte was very friendly and accommodating finding us a table. All staff were lovely with a smile on their face.

Came in today and was greeted and seated almost immediately, where Charlotte had advised me on the best picks of the menu and recommended the pigs in blankets, which were cooked well done, hot and incredibly tasty, it came really quickly too. Our waiter was josh and he was incredibly friendly, smiley and helpful with service. We were greated by a really cheerful and polite carver, plus a yummy deck full of delicious vegetables and meat which I couldn't have enjoyed anymore than I did. It was all fresh and delightful. After my carvery, I had a cookie dough sundae which gave the perfect finish off to an amazing day, I would completely recommend, what a delightful day out, thank you tobys for a wonderful dinner and we will be visiting again!!!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at your place, and let me tell you, it was absolutely FANTASTIC! Staff were friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure that my dining experience was memorable. It's always a pleasure to be served by people who genuinely care about their customers. The lady with black hair (sorry don’t remember her name, Charlottaa?) kept checking on us and made my family laugh :) Food was really tasty! Also the prices were reasonable considering the quality of food and service you provided. I left your restaurant feeling satisfied both in my stomach and in my wallet. Keep up the amazing work, and I'll definitely be back!

Me and my friends went after work, first time in ages for two of us. We had a lovely server called Ashley that was very attentive but also very funny too. Was exactly what we needed on a Friday after a long week. Food was amazing too, the people serving wer full of smiles and made us feel really welcome. Will definitely be going back again.

Just had lunch there with my little boy. Amazing service by Ashley, very friendly, attentive and helpful. Food was very good as well, just wish I could have eaten it all. Will definitely be back soon.

Alfie made our visit service with a joke and a smile. He went out of his way to help us out and was very genuine and sweet. The food was yummy and I particularly enjoyed the new areo mint in a yorkshire pudding - feel the fear and do it anyway.

This place has really changed. We used to go a few years ago and stopped going. We really enjoyed it tonight and we were here a few weeks ago too. The manager accommodated our seating request as we had a table of 4 and 2 booked and we managed to sit together. The kids food arrived really quickly and the service was really good. We had a young male waiter and he is always so bubbly! Carvery had lots of chose and the guy carving was so friendly and helpful. Will be visiting again soon!

Our servers were fantastic. I really hope I got their names right (Millie and Charlie). If not, I am so sorry. Their service was second to none. I was very happy with the service received. At one point, I could not find the chef - I think there should be system to alert them with people are at the counter. That being said, the chef was such a nice person. Overall, a great experience and I will recommend others

The staff member who seated us was very welcoming and absolutely hilarious. We arrived an hour earlier than our actual booking and was able to get a table. He was friendly and helpful, instantly got a highchair for us without us asking. The only downside was that there wasn't any broccoli on offer at the food station.

Took my grandchildren for breakfast with Santa. They were very excited initially but the restaurant wasn't very festive looking despite having some decorations and only heard two Christmas songs whilst there. Initial impression was it wasn't any different than any other visit apart from a rather tatty looking Santa walking around. He walked past our table several times without acknowledging the children. The children's comments were "why does Santa look so miserable?" and "is this supposed to be fun?". We went to get our breakfast at the buffet and it was obviously coming to an end as was very tired looking cooked food some in a lot of oil. There was toast available but no fruit or cereals. The food tasted ok but nothing special. When we were nearly finished our breakfast Santa came over and asked if the boys wanted anything from his sack, gave them an activity pack and then left. I had to go back to the bar to ask for him to come back so the children could have a photo with him. He did speak with them whilst we took photos and the children said his voice sounded like Santa which made things a little better. To say we were disappointed with the breakfast with Santa is an understatement especially as they still believe in him.

Alfie was a great man. He looked after us all, and although we were sat down a bit late, He was very understanding and ensured we were well looked after. Will definitely come back. (Ask for Alfie - Top Man)

I loved coming here! Was my first roast dinner and there wasn't a thing i got that i didn't like. The atmosphere from the moment I walked in was so homey and comfortable. The staff, specifically Alfie, Jess and the server Sylla were so helpful and kind too!

When we arrived we were seated promptly however when we went to get our food there were only 3 meats on offer. I then went to get some gravy as turkey is notoriously dry. They were out of gravy. I also had some potatoes and from their selection I chose the least black ones. After we had finished our meal we waited 45 mins before we had to get someone to collect our plates and ask if we wanted dessert. I asked for the sticky toffee pudding which they didn’t have. Overall a poor experience.
