    - 1 month and a half after laparoscopy I am still chasing the hospital to obtain my medical records proving what has been done to my body. I was not told exactly what was removed even when I was discharged, and I did not know whether I still had my ovaries or not until the follow up appointment with the doctor, 1 month after the surgery. - The day of the surgery I was asked to attend earlier than scheduled to be the first in list, then I had to wait until late afternoon, no water/no food. -Appointments leading to surgery were managed poorly. Wrong dates/times or they would forget to actually book the appointment that was verbally communicated to me, to the point that I started calling prior every appointment to avoid wasting my time. In addition, when attending, medical records available to the doctors were only partial and imaging documentation was always missing. - Most of the staff on the phone is incredibly dismissive and you keep being bounced back and forth from an extension to another and rarely manage to get anything out of it. On the other hand, the nurses at the hospital are exceptional, kind, and caring. They really are the only good thing this hospital proved to have. UPDATE(the day after the review): your immediate response to a public review is impressive. I got your response to a review on Google in less than a day, but close to 2 months after surgery, I am still waiting to receive my medical records. That only shows your priorities.

I had a less than pleasant experience today. Our rescheduled appointment for 10:30 am left us waiting until 11:15 am without being called. After inquiring at the reception, they were apologetic, and a call to the doctor promptly got my mother seen. However, upon returning to the ward, I observed my mother was already called in to the room. Unfortunately, the doctor didn't offer any apology or explanation for the delay, displaying a distracted and annoyed demeanor. The lack of courtesy and the passive-aggressive attitude made it a patronising experience, highlighting the need for training in people skills, diversity, and empathy for the doctor!

Yes,certainly. My surgery took place on 17/10/23. I was treated inhumanly on the day of admission. I am a diabetic patient. From the time of admission till the time of operation I was not offered any food. It was almost 3-4 hours without food. I was shivering. once I come back from the OT my husband went outside to buy food for me. Only then I had some food before my release from the hospital. I had an follow up appointment on 28/11/23 with Miss Madi which I have attended. She didn't look into my eye with care. She was in a hurry to finish my appointment. It was less than 2 minute. She was busy with her mobile phone. If I knew this earlier I wouldn't come long way for this appointment as I have waited long after the surgery for this follow up appointment. I will definitely not recommend anyone to be seen by this Consultant.

I cannot praise the staff here at Blackheath hospital enough! Connie, Bianca, Alida, Eyo and the rest of the day care staff including the surgeon, anaesthetist & physiotherapist have been amazing. I have had a hip replacement and the quality of care has been exceptional. Also to the kitchen staff as the food has been delicious. It’s not nice having to spend time in hospital however the staff here have made it as comfortable as possible. Thank you all!!

My first stay at Blackheath was excellent, ALL members of staff, porters, nurses (especially Esther you diamond!) anesthesiologists, of course my spinal surgeon (and anyone I missed) were brilliant... notable that hand over from one member of staff to another is seamless you are fully informed and checked on regularly and can't rate care highly enough. Food and tea was also lovely. I'm privileged to be able to go to a private but if you can, absolutely do it and Blackheath is certainly recommended for this, they put you at ease and a very pleasant experience all round. Thank you

Had my elbow operation here on 6th Jan 2024. Absolutely fantastic service !! Consultant explained everything beforehand and came in later in day to explain what was done and how did I feel and explained after care. The ward staff were amazing and in particular one of the nurses “Kumba” she was fantastic - works so hard to make sure you have what you need and are comfortable - thank you so much. The private rooms are well equipped and would have no hesitation coming back here if needed in the future. Thank you all involved.

5☆ hospital with 5☆ hotel feel. Had an overnight stay following a hernia repair. Firstly the staff were all fantastic. From reception to medical to catering. Everyone I encountered were so friendly, professional and caring. Spacious room with modern bathroom and walk in shower. The food choice was varied and delicious. The entire medical procedure was seamless from start to finish. No one wants to be in hospital but if you had to be this is the place . Can't thank everyone enough.

Just had my gallbladder out with Mr Kerwat and the whole experience was hugely efficient. The hospital is incredibly clean. Staff are enormously welcoming and you are constantly made to feel as if they care about how you feel. Special shout out to Larisa who was amazing and whose whole attitude was one of making you feel calm and cared for. She was incredible. Food was great and honestly, I couldn’t fault the whole experience.

I am here for knee surgery and from the start this morning at 09.00 the staff have been brilliant, everywhere is clean and spotless, my room is 1st class. If you are in a position to go private I would highly recommend it.

As a NHS patient I had some concerns that I would not be treated with the same respect and attitude that the private patients were, but my concerns were unfounded, my experience of the BMI was 100% positive. The hospital was spotlessly clean, I was shown to the room I would occupy by a very nice porter, who explained how to work the air conditioning the heating system and TV, the room had en-suite facilities which were equipped with clean fresh towels ect. The HCA and nurses are friendly caring and professionalI was treated with the utmost respect. I had received a large information pack a few days before my procedure was to take place. I was visited by both the aneathatist and surgeon who explained every detail of my procedure ,the surgeon also came following my return to my room. I would recommend to anyone who is referred as a NHS patient to the BMI not to hesitate about accepting an appointment with the Blackheath hospital it gets100% 👍 from me.

My time at the hospital was spent with the Physiotherapy Team and it has been nothing less than a first-class experience. I was seen by Jade Van Graan who is thorough, attentive and offered an overall brilliant service. As an athlete, sometimes you can feel like it's hard to convey the pain or discomfort you’re experiencing but she took her time & clearly knows her stuff really well. I want to say special thanks to her and thanks to all the staff for making my time pleasurable and stress-free.

I have been visiting the hospital regularly since the end of May 2021 to date. The hospital is spotless! Staff are so friendly and welcoming and the food is fantastic. I cannot rate the oncology nurses highly enough, Kelly, Floris & Leanne are wonderful! From the moment I stepped in to their oncology suite they made me feel at ease with everything. The suite is intimate, clean, friendly and comfortable. I must also shout out Tracey and her team in the pharmacy who always visit the patients during treatment to ensure that have all the relevant medication to take home. If you are looking for a private hospital to have your chemotherapy, I highly recommend the BMI Blackheath Hospital.

I went for physiotherapy for my hip pain. The physiotherapist gave me some exercises to do in my first appointment. Then I revisited him for the second times after several weeks. He moved my legs around and said everything was fine but I told him the pain was still there and I still felt very uncomfortable. He gave me another set of exercises. After another few weeks, I still had the pain not only on the hip but also on my lower back. I went to another physiotherapy clinic and the physiotherapist there told me all the exercises I was given was not appropriate and that even worsened my situation. This new physiotherapist also pointed out where my actual problems are. The physiotherapist in the Blackheath hospital was just so unprofessional. I wouldn't expect a practitioner in a private hospital will make incorrect judgments even though I tell him something is still not right and give mistreatment.

I have had the most happy and comfortable experience in this hospital. The surgery was carried out under epidural and, although I was nervous at first, I was constantly reassured and made to feel comfortable and at ease by both the Anaesthetist and the Surgeon. Staff from the Recovery suite to my leaving, were so very kind and personable. I spent a lot of the time laughing with them, which was great! Finally, the food was both of exceptional quality and imaginative.

I had day case surgery at Blackheath Hospital with a couple of visits prior for pre assessment, hearing test and ct scan. Every visit was perfect, polite staff on every occasion and I couldn’t have had a better experience. The day of surgery was smooth and everything was explained at every stage. 2 particular nurses, Connie and Bianca, stood out and are a credit to the Hospital. Nothing was too much of an ask and they really helped ease my stress levels. Thank you to everyone involved, I’d certainly recommend this Hospital and go back if required in the future.

The surgery I had was for Bunion Correction and the consultant, Mr Weitzel, was great from the beginning to the end. The reception staff were not so great. They gave me the run around when rearranging my pre assessment appointment, to the point where I had been given 5 different numbers to call, when I didn’t need to, as they had given me the wrong information. Recovery ward staff were lovely and I thank them for looking after me. They were very friendly, reassuring and sweet. The Physio woman that visited was very lovely too! She showed me how to use crutches and how to walk etc, but in a friendly welcoming way. Floor 2 staff were equally as nice. Mel was great, she was upbeat, reassuring, friendly and a good person to be around when feeling anxious. The nurse who discharged me was so kind. She even pushed me to my car to ensure I didn’t over do it straight away. Thank you and I’m so sorry I forgot your name. The only downside was that I was starving and wasn’t given any food when returning back to floor 2 and was only given water even though I hadn’t eaten all day. I left at 10pm, being given just a jug of water, after not eating since 10am. The reception staff and the food is why I gave it a 4* review. Also, no sick note provided, as requested within my discharge paperwork. So I will have to call and chase this up today, which is just annoying.

It was the best hospital experience I've had and I've had a fair few. All the staff were friendly, personal and responsive and there was no anxiety going into the surgery. Post surgery I was well looked after and catered for. The whole experience made me wish I had more work to be done. Thank you to everyone at blackheath hospital.

I have attended Blackheath hospital for physio on my Achilles for the last year. My heal was examined by Ian & he showed me a series of exercises to do on my Achilles over a period of time to strengthen & give flexibility to my heal. Ian was superb; he was clear, concise & extremely professional. He explained the theory behind the exercises & gradually increased the number & difficulty of the exercises over a period of weeks & months in order that I could progress with the exercises myself at home & in the gym! I cannot praise Ian highly enough - he was the best physio that I’ve ever had & I would definitely recommend Ian & his team at Blackheath hospital to friends & family. I would also like to complement Juliet on reception- Juliet has always been friendly, efficient and professional. She booked my appointments with Ian & was a pleasure to deal with. Juliet is definitely an asset to the team.

My consultant Mr Thilagarajah was outstanding from our first meeting and even came back to me after surgery to make sure I was okay and to inform me the procedure went well. He is one of the top surgeons in his field so I was completely at ease every step of the way. The pre op nurse I met a week prior and the admin team I called to ask some questions regarding the day of surgery were great. Apologies for forgetting some people’s names, but even the porter who showed me to my clean room and showed me how to use the equipment was lovely. Beth my nurse and Mary the physio were so warm thorough and friendly. My anaesthetic consultant was great. The wonderful Theatre nurse who warmed my blanket and wiped my tear away, and reassured me was so professional and kind. My recovery nurse Brenda who looked after me post op. It’s always nice seeing a friendly face when you open your eyes. Thank you for looking after me. The pharmacist Bijal was thorough and delivered my medication promptly as I was keen to get home. The lady from the catering team who took my food order was lovely. Even the domestic cleaner smiled and said goodbye upon discharge. The care and treatment was first class. I work for the NHS and will feedback so many areas for improvement. Small hiccough with who I was but actually this lightened the mood as I was a little nervous. Perhaps writing patients names on the white board as soon as admitted would alleviate this. It’s kind that partners are allowed to stay but a more comfortable chair (perhaps recliner) would be more suitable in this environment. In spite of this, I would give a 10/10.

My brief stay (only a couple of hours for my procedure) was very comfortable. I was a bit worried about the sedation and following gastroscopie but the nurse made me talk and forget about it. I really appreciate them be so kind and professional!

I wish I could remember the names of everyone I dealt with as they were all so nice! The two nurses on floor 1 were great and really helpful. The other nurses who came to deliver pain meds also so incredibly nice. The kitchen staff made a great post surgery meal and even brought me ice cream which I had a weird craving for after surgery. Lastly the anesthesiologist and doctor did a great job and helped calm down my nerves before going in. Overall great experience with Blackheath hospital!

I was admitted over night following elective surgery . The whole process was well organised and I was particularly impressed by the systems to hand over my care at my beside and that everyone introduced themselves to me. All of the nursing and care staff treated me with respect , dignity and kindness . The surgeon went out of his way to clearly explain the procedure and options and the anesthetic consultation listened to my specific pain needs and was helpful and reassuring. Thank you all , what a wonderful team.

The nurse who was with me left a lot to be desired, her explanations were confusing and even though my friend was with me, who is a doctor, she had difficulty understanding. The nurse didn't know the difference between elevating my leg and bending my leg. The doctor put the frame in an adjustment and she wanted to change it, we didn't let her. I vomited after eating and consequently I pressed the emergency button and she didn't come, it was another nurse who helped me and she asked if she couldn't see the bell ringing! She told me to use the toilette right after the surgery and she left the room! The next day I called asking where my sick notice was and she said she would put it in the mail because she forgot and I hadn't received anything yet. When I asked about the bandages he rudely told me to read the papers she had given me, but on the papers she would have to make notes and she didn't, they were blank. I am very disappointed with the treatment I received post-surgery.

Have been twice with my mother and so far the receptionist have been very polite and cheerful. Some nurses and cleaners I have seen have been so kind and chirpy. My mothers doctor has also been very nice and explains very thoroughly using actual models and pictures to help me understand her condition. The first appointment had us go up to the imaging floor. I would say that the receptionist and staff on that floor, all being young girls should not be gathered having conversations about personal life. We were not acknowledged even while standing there until I asked them for what i needed. The chat stopped but I felt I was being stared at and rushed so they may finish their conversation. The lady that booked the appointment was polite. They all seemed so. But professionalism is needed when you see patients. The place itself is clean, tea and coffee machines available and a big waiting room. Like most practices, your appointed time can be delayed but not like a GP practice for up-to an hour. We are awaiting our next appointment for steroid shots so will see how that goes.

Excellent team. Everyone were professional, did their jobs with so much care, empathy, and expertise, all with cheerful faces. The hospital is super clean, the best I've seen in the UK. Overall, I I've them 10 🌟 Sending a special thanks to Dr Mamidanna, Nurse Ola, Ana, Kumba and Tia. My meal of prawn and mayonnaise sandwich, vanilla ice cream and hot chocolate was like something from a 5* hotel. Excellently presented by an impeccably clean and well dressed kitchen staff (not sure what they're called in hospital) Please keep up this standard. Thank you.

I have been having treatment in the chemo ward at Blackheath Hospital for 4 years. Kelly Davies & her team are exceptional. Professional & efficient but also warm & reassuring & friendly. They have created a chemo ward that is as pleasant & welcoming as it can be; soft music plays, a scented diffuser is there & each chemo chair has a screen/divider between the next chair for some privacy between patients. I always feel happy to see the chemo staff & feel in excellent hands. Huge thanks to Kelly, Floris, Kat & Jean.

Everyone was so lovely and made me feel at ease with a procedure I was very anxious for. The nurse was so wonderful and made me feel safe and the anaesthetic nurse was also so comforting and I don’t think I would’ve been able to go through with the procedure without her. The healthcare assistant was also wonderful and made sure I was well taken care of. So grateful for all the support and care given, everyone went above and beyond!

I have been a patient at this hospital since 2017, from the moment you arrive at reception it provides a clean and welcoming environment. I visit the oncology department regularly and am always looked after to the very highest standard by Dr Kristeleit and the team. I cannot express how grateful I am to be cared for by Kelly, Leanne and Floris who are kind, compassionate and sympathetic to all walk through the doors. Nothing is too much trouble in the hard job they carry out daily with the biggest smiles. These ladies go above and beyond to provide reassurance and positivity. I highly recommend BMI Blackheath for its professionalism and knowledge in cancer care and what makes this such a fantastic hospital is the major contribution from its outstanding staff.

The hospital was excellent in every way and I felt well cared for throughout my stay for a replacement knee. Staff at every level , from reception, domestic through to all nursing staff, anaesthetist and surgeon were first class , treating me extremely well and always making the experience feel safe and comfortable. The levels of hygiene are excellent and the food and choice of menu made you feel like you were in a hotel. Even a cup of tea was served with a teapot , cup and saucer etc . All these little touches made for feeling well cared for . I cannot speak highly enough of the service I received and have already recommended the hospital to a friend. There is also a good atmosphere among the staff and a calm , co operative atmosphere. Thank you so very much for this excellent provision and after care package . Rachel McNamara

I attended the oncology department for my first chemo treatment so was extremely anxious and nervous. As soon as I walked in I was greeted with lovely smiles and felt Instantly at ease from the three nurses Kelly, Leanne and Floris. My whole time I was there they explained every thing to me in my own time and nothing was a problem even when I was asking them 100 of questions. They Instantly made me feel at ease. I actually enjoyed myself in the department and actually looking forward to see them all for my next treatment. All 3 of them are an absolute asset to your hospital.

I cannot speak highly enough of everyone that I came across at The Blackheath Hospital. Whether is was the Consultant, Radiologist, Secretary, Nurses / Sisters (Connie is amazing), Anaethesist, and all staff within Clinical Services (Dean you have a 1st class team). Each and every one of them were reassuring, attentative, professional, and most importantly appeared to love their job The outpatient care so far has been spot on, whether it was a quick call to discuss some post-op advice, through to the the physio appointments that I have attended. The hospital is both clean and comfortable throughout, with some Covid measures still in place to ensure everyone is safe.

Good experience in the hospital. Shocked that my husband collected me just after 5pm and incurred a parking fine of £100 (reduced to £60 for prompt payment), because he didn't realise he had to pay when collecting a post-operative patient. Not good customer service.

All very good but Covid test should be done in reception before going into hospital, paperwork should be given to you to read before having a cataract operation not after, when you can’t read properly. Surgeon first class, staff excellent. Parking not bad in the evening. Didn’t try out food, but was served tea and biscuits after operation.

As soon as I walked into the building there was a lovely atmosphere which continued throughout. Everyone was happy and kind and I felt a real genuine calmness here. I would definitely recommend this hospital highly to others.

I had day surgery at this hospital and received first class care, from pre-op assessment, to the procedure itself, on returning to the recovery ward and eventual discharge from the ward. The clinical and support staff alike communicated really well and were thoroughly attentive.

I had hip surgery in May at Blackheath hospital. I chose Mr Tindall as surgeon and was completely satisfied with the excellent treatment he offered. I have had no problems and would highly recommend him for hip replacement surgery. My hospital stay was excellent, all nursing staff were brilliant and I was offered an excellent physio service. Dealings with admin staff also very efficient. Feeling very grateful. Thanks. to all.

I had an excellent experience staying here as an inpatient when I had surgery. Everyone from the reception staff to the surgeons were amazing and I had a lot of contact with my consultant and was well informed by the whole team before and after my surgery about what I can expect. The nurses were very helpful and attentive and made my stay very comfortable! The food was of amazing quality as well and they accommodated me well as I am lactose intolerant. Would highly recommend Blackheath hospital for their customer service and excellent health care. Thank you so much

The service and experience was absolutely wonderful. I was very apprehensive and nervous about my treatment and especially being sedated but all the staff made me feel at ease and reassured me every step of the way. I usually cannot stand being in the hospital for longer than I need to be but this experience was so smooth and comfortable I didn’t even really feel like I was in hospital (until I had my procedure ha!) thanks for a smooth stress free day! The staff were so kind and helpful and pleasant to be around!

Appointment arranged to see Dr Shoaib Hamid the day after request was made. He took the time to listen and was very thorough with test completed on the day. Staff were all kind and efficient from reception to the nurse that chaperoned and Olga was super and made everything easy. Thank you everyone 😊

I’m 8 days past my hip replacement surgery at Blackheath BMI hospital. The care and attention I was shown was absolutely amazing. Special thanks to my surgeon Mr Shenava, his theatre team, so many wonderful nurses, catering staff and physios. My 60th birthday tomorrow (20.11.2022) and they have ALL given me the best present I could have asked for. I’m comfortably walking around on crutches, feeling strong and feeling confident for a complete recovery.

Endoscopy Unit: Went in for some necessary endoscopic checks. The process was seamless, the facility spotless. Was treated with great care by doctors and by staff (Cintia, Ivana, May, Allen and Brenda). I was put at ease for a rather uncomfortable visit and what impressed me most was the efficiency the staff and doctors had in completing the procedures, whilst taking great care.

My recent treatment at Blackheath Hospital was first class. Everything went so smoothly and was managed in a professional yet caring way. The Theatre team were exceptional, as was the Patient Liaison Officer who kept me informed every step of the way.

Micheal Kwablah had a surgery 9/2/24. The care that was given to him was fantastic. Doctors were amazing. Nurses were wonderful. Connie, the discharge nurse took time to explain to me. We would recommend your hospital to anyone

I had a great experience at Blackheath Hospital – the facility was impeccably clean, the staff was exceptionally friendly, and I must give a special mention to Nevim. She was not only nice and attentive but also went above and beyond by taking my blood tests, even though it was close to closing time. Highly recommend their excellent service.

I had a hysterectomy at the Blackheath hospital and was very happy with my consultant Mr Araklitis. The procedure went very well and I stayed at the hospital for 2 nights. The care after surgery was good. The room was basic, the draw with the safety lock on it did not work and my coat could hardly fit in the wardrobe. Once I got moved back to my room following surgery, I had regular visits from the nurses. The catering team was not well organised, they would come in so many times to take food orders and only to miss items each time they delivered the meals. I asked one of the staff from the night catering team to bring me some fresh water at 6am, and she said I would have to wait for the morning team to do that! On one occasion, the painkillers that were due to be administered to me at 6pm were not administered until 9pm. The drip was not inserted properly in my cannula and blood started dripping on the sheets, however, the nurse did not think to change the sheets or clean up my hand! I had to ask 3 other nurses to change the sheets and finally it got done. Rosemary was the only nurse with a very calming, caring and patient manner. I felt she actually cared about my wellbeing and treated me more than another room to tend to, thank you Rosemary! Overall, I am grateful to all the staff that looked after me. I did expect more from a private hospital, the service was similar to an NHS hospital.
