The teenage ward is very unprofessional and don’t know how to work with children. They provoke you and sit together and laugh about you and then make it seem as if your imagining things when your not . 2 of the most liked girls were tying to bully and attack me but when I reacted I was the one that was sent to the seclusion room whilst they got away with it . When I was locked Inside the room once it took them over 3 hours to bring me my food after dinner time so I was hungry and didn’t eat dinner for a while. They refused to bring me my snacks at snack time even if it’s just 3 biscuits. Their breakfast is horrible it’s pouched eggs that you put in the oven. There was one staff who was really nice to me and would always come and talk to me and give me advice on what I could do against the people not treating me well but then they’d always look at us when we were talking and becsude if this they stopped her from seeing me . Also when they restrain you their very rough for no reason and a lot of them become angry I had one staff pull my hair so far back I thought my neck was gonna snap. The food portion sizes are tiny . They purposely kept putting me with a staff member that they knew I didn’t like . When they came in to clean my room the male staff would always stand right above me to make sure I wouldn’t get up and try anything but it was still very intimidating. Over all these staff members don’t know how to deal with teens at all they all have anger issues and are rude and constantly use your illness against you. And dr Dan is a smug guy who enjoys making young people feel hopeless , he told me that I wouldn’t get anywhere in life and that I’d end up dead or worse if I didn’t change , which isn’t something u should tell a teenager much less someone who’s in mental hospital for obvious reasons . There’s so much I can talk about

Fundamentally the place has alot of room for improvement. The system is a mess. The treatment of some of the patients is pretty bad. Some of the staff need more training and need to be more organised. Some people feel the place has turned their life around but many feel disappointed. In terms of the actual psychology itself, there is so much more psychology professionals in the world need to learn in order to be able to truly help some of the patients here or anywhere. This is supposedly one of, if not the best hospitals in the world for autism and yet they probably don't even understand 10% of what they need to. On the bright side of things, the place does have quite a nice woodland setting and so plenty of room for fresh air and nature walks which are truly beneficial for almost any health problem. It has quite a few activities and some good facilities like a swimming pool, gym hall and creative facilities including a pottery class. The food isn't too bad and generally the atmosphere is friendly so don't be too afraid. If you've been sectioned, once the team build trust in you due to your good behaviour, you will probably gradually get more and more freedom to leave the ward and then the hospital. Eventually you are even allowed to stay elsewhere overnight.

I stayed at this hospital in 2018 however my previous review has been removed. I had a 7 month admission without a single session of individual or group therapy. Incredibly understaffed, with some nights only having one member of bank/agency staff for 20 patients. Extreme lack of understanding of eating disorders, which left me without emotional or mental support most of the time throughout my whole stay. I saw a dietician twice during my stay, and my consultant three or four times which should have been a priority. There was also a huge lack of communication with the team, myself and my family causing more distress and uncertainty. The ward was also dirty and unhygienic. Overall a very unpleasant and demotivating place to stay when trying to push and stay motivated for recovery.

I was in the mother and baby unit 9 years ago. I hated every second of it. I felt trapped and I had no say in my daily life for the 3 months I was there.in a place like that you soon realise that unless you just do what the staff want you to do, you will be the one who suffers . You'll have no freedom and you'll be in hospital for ages.i didn't find it helpful or therapeutic. In fact all these years later memories of it are still upsetting.

Very few support workers, seem to be client focused. The whole mental health services need more funding, so that real person centred care can be achieved. Currently SLAM is not fit for purpose. Better client and clinician, communication and transparency needed, to help reduce psychological stresses.

Staff communication is very bad. They hardly ever answer the phone and support family members. The environment is terrible and frightening, they put people of different frames in the same place, not caring about the quality of the environment in which patients who are at low levels of being treated. I am distressed and very shaken by what I saw in this hospital, I would probably be mentally challenged if I stayed for a few days in a place like this. For the love of your family member and loved one, do not accept being placed in this hospital. This location needs to be re-evaluated in the way they treat patients and relatives.

Some people will have their reservations about this and that or him and her, and perhaps they're valid. But I'd just like to say for the many staff that do care, you are quite literally life savers, and I can't thank you enough for the care you gave my partner recently.

Speechless. Things appear to be improving but when I got here a few weeks ago it was, well, ‘Bedlam’. The staff were lethally dangerous and even a couple of the patients thought they’d have a go, too. Can we all be, like, peace-loving hippies yet or not?!?? Xx

I was there back in 1995, when I went to the toilet I often noticed they were never flushed, some of the staff were nice, I'm in a much better place than I was in back then and I live in independently in my own flat.

Paul Gosney nhs slam locom 2019 October/ November , a Australian in appearance, rusters- dependant on rust ointment, with black half leggings, a matching black top, plimsoles, he illegally prescribed drugs , liquid, harming my heatlth and appearance, caused WHITE hair! Not on any website, google on LinkedIn, the Paul Gosney on the LinkedIn is greek in appearance, connected , to lies about a debt I never have had , to get a physcotic greek ugly eldery to try to fake being a law rep.?The one that was a nuisance when Peter Sibeon and Mark Dobson , Sandra Dodd ' british con'.Paul Gosney 2019 is responsible for £250 ( british new roman originals)clothes ruined and stolen and ring stolen and carrot strawberry toothpaste stolen from the room! 2006 is britains exposing themselves for misusing nhs to demonstrate the fact that they are about anti civilisation, dirty toilets, thieving, pestering and jealousies undefinable. 2103 NHS interference did nit happen!2014 , resulted in Sussex and Lambeth Brixton injections of an illegal drug, which stopped from usage by nhs after months of them using it on me.2016 , illegal precscribe md tablets at the house 8- 8.46 pm were watched swallowed everyday for two months John Grice NHSSLAM , again ,drugs were not required in anyway. British Council were responsible for a Dr Robert Snell ( director not dictor) , getting a job with no job description, at Pakistan, he misused the stupid 'Pakistanis by saying he wanted a house to be used as an office alternative, NO , not acceptable in anyway. The fact he thought up ( insanely) extra job performing that could be defined as within one job role as switch board, reception , such as writing all incomg calls , details , says it all , wouldn't happen in this country , shouldn't have happened at Pakistan, yes both countries are responsible for the pathetic Dr Robert Snell misuse of a reception job role .Never forget, Zahida put in writing I would be entitled to a place/ house of my own when out there, she lied and 🇬🇧 went along with her!And as for the lack of the wages below minimum wage , £100 per month, want on food , banana, yoghurt, clothes, stitching, petrol, thats what you scroungers are .You had Zahida get her squatters 'brother' into Britain , squatting at 9 Malvern Road 1999 to 2001, how pathetic, britain. Important fact is that british nhs slam were unable to state the nhs psychiatrists calling himself a locom Paul Gosney, is not stated on any website , and he was allowed by Britain to inflict 6 weeks of pathetic anti civilisation behaviours, misprescribe drugs, and continue the pathetic attempt of Slam pesterations until 2021 March !SLAM amd NHS have proved they require closing down. The GPS that support them require Dismissing. The fact that Uzzamans 'family' used them to negatively affect my life states what the Muslim family are.

Bethlem is a fantastic hospital, surrounded by gardens, woodland and fields. It offers a huge variety of Occupational Health activities including woodwork, pottery, art, gardening, computing, cookery, needlework, music, drama, exercise and much more. Despite frequent funding cuts, the staff work hard to provide support and help for people with mental health problems. People come from all over the country to use it's facilities. Without Bethlem, where would they go?

I took a road trip with myself to this place, thought it was a restaurant, the food was defo 10/10 they should make this stuff everywhere. The long hair I found in it gave it that extra spice I was looking for.

Some great staff, school was pleasant. Just lacked communication with family as on their end it was a scary time. Also family therapy did not go very well to put it mildly. Thank you - I will never forget Gavin 👊

The whole hospital staff here + doctors here belong sued and jailed for life( or on death row...) Dont let them check your blood pressure ("abs")they' re just trying find a way to kill you there.... They are a danger to others . They also steal your belongings and money. Only dark skinned people working there and you need to be dark too if you want their help the few white people that work there seem they desperateley need to get euthanized because they are sick and dangerous .

NB: This review is for the museum, rather than the NHS hospital. We managed to visit the Bethlem Museum of the Mind last year during their exhibition, "Animal Therapy: The Cats of Louis Wain". As huge admirers of Wain's beautiful anthropomorphic illustrations, we were beyond delighted to catch the exhibition on the last day! The museum presented a wonderful curation of his work - the way they walked you through Wain's life was done with such reverence. We loved being able to see his commercial illustrations in situ in magazines from the Victorian era, and to see originals of the prints we have in our home was very special. Really well thought out and extensive exhibition done brilliantly by Bethlem, we loved it.

the best hospital and adolescent ward ever 😤. a racist HCA told me my childhood abuse was just culture on my journey to court, and kept whining on the journey. In court he proceeded to tell the judge he didn't think i was ill, this man sees me once and boom he knows better than all the licensed professional doctors 😅 why do you hate me so much lol, work on yourself you're a 30 year old adult my guy 😭. anyway once we were back in hospital he provoked me and i was restrained by multiple people and he saw the opportunity to press his elbow to my neck 💔 i thought you loved me 😔after that he was less disrespectful but his behaviour is a good representation of the type of people that work here
