BLUESCLUB BAND 11/01/2018 People--excited, ebullient, full-of-it, stimulated, expectant--some knowing, some not--what's it going to be like? what's going to be played? who are they? ---squeezing up the steep staircase, waiting for their turn to be ushered through, stamp on hand--mustn't be illegal--Dire Straits, Thin Lizzy, Steeleye Span--- a blast from the past--- a massive build -up---and there they are---echoes of youth--where have they been all these years? still jamming , still living, still loving...then on he comes, William Topley, strutting his stuff---Jagger re-incarnated--- he's magnificent, outrageous, thrusting, fey, proud, lord-of-all-he-surveys as he and the Sound--this sound that's life-affirming, enveloping, gut-wrenching-- explode into the heads and hearts of the listening devotees---this sound that lifts, transports, enables all those present to reach a higher level and for two precious hours, a transformation takes place where there is nothing but the very best that this earthly stay has to offer--- from the haunting, melancholic tones of Peter Hope-Evans's rendition on the harmonica and Jews Harp, to the powerful, attention-demanding blast of Paul Beavis's drums---and everything in-between---we're taken on the ride of our lives. It was an honour to have experienced these superb masters demonstrating how music is Art.

The last refuge of the sixties. It is full of people of a certain age listening to the remnants of the bands of that era. You hear some really good music and it still does service to pop and blue sofa that time

If you love blues - and you love authentic blues - and you know the history of blues playing in London - then you already know what this place is all about. Was there for Top Topham’s memorial gig and, despite the sad occasion, it was an evening he’d have been proud to take part in.

Wonderful music club in the centre of Twickenham. Some great international bands play here on their UK tours. One of the hidden gems in the Borough. Highly recommended. A must visit venue if you are visiting London and England.

Check this place out, I've been a few times now, becoming a regular. The home of decent music, played by great musicians. I've seen some great bands and some real music legends here. It never disappoints.

Always a great venue, good sound, always near the stage. Lots of great blues and rock artists play there. Mud Morganfield and Atomic Rooster were great there.

The venue is in an 80s timewarp. Leaking roof over bar, no real seating and rammed to the gunnels with about 110 capacity. Sound quality was dubious for Never the Bride, Nicki and Bea excelled as expected.

We visited on spec as we're in the area. Wife had a leg brace from injury, and despite it being very crowded, a seat was provided and those around us most welcoming. The music was very good, though the sound balance poor, with the blues harp inaudible much of the time regardless of the musician. Would certainly recommend the vibe. Nice people!
