A total joy – so much to see and take in in this treasure trove of a mid-18c tall terraced house: fascinating story of the life of someone I should have known about, but hadn't realised linked in with so many key creative figures of the late-19c Arts and Crafts world. Charming, enthusiastic and hugely well-informed guide made it all come alive. Glorious autumn sunshine and views of the river were bonuses in a delightful experience.

Tours of an Arts & Crafts house, the home of Emery Walker (1851-1933) and later residents who kept the furnishings and dΓ©cor intact. Includes William Morris wallpaper, flooring and draperies, and ceramics and tapestries by other artists. An hour-long, volunteer-led tour provides interesting commentary about the residents and items on display. No photos permitted indoors. Must book ahead. (Thanks, guides Ellie and Gwen.) While in the area, check out the William Morris Society museum (currently, 2-5 pm Thu, Sat, Sun).

Step back in time to the Art's and Crafts era. The world of William Morris and Emery Walker awaits your perusal. Lovely house on The River Thames and Chiswick Mall. In close proximity to a plethora of lovely riverside pubs, Upper Mall Open Space, St Peter's Church, St Nicholas Church, Chiswick House and Grounds and Hogarth House. Nearest tube station is Stamford Brook. And nearest overground is Chiswick

Very interesting time-capsule of an early twentieth-century Arts and Crafts interior. Emery Walker was a friend and collaborator of William Morris who also had a house on the banks of the Thames in Hammersmith.

We originally booked to go to Emery Walker's House in 2020, but then Covid happened... So we rebooked earlier this month. It's timed entry and guided tours only. Our guide was excellent, very knowledgeable, engaging and enthusiastic. We loved seeing the Arts and Crafts artefacts: paintings, pottery, furniture, wallpaper, and learning about the history of the House and its occupants. It was a fascinating hour and a quarter tour, after which we could, within reason, revisit the rooms for a closer look at specific items of interest. Fans of William Morris and the Arts and Crafts movement will thoroughly enjoy a visit to this wonderful time capsule of a house!

Little, fascinating old house. Very competent guides. Excellent location - there's a wonderful path along the river passing by. A bit pricey for what you get.

Excellent guide who really knew her stuff when it come to Emery Walker and the history surrounding him. Amazing that the place survived so untouched. Definitely worth a visit if you are interested in the arts and crafts movement and the players in it.

I thoroughly recommend this house museum to visit for it's great social and artistic history, furniture and furnishings, photographs and ambience. Do go and then afterwards have a lovely walk along the Thames to one of the pubs close by for a drink and/or a meal.
