Inconspicuous gem of a cafe in the heart of Whitechapel that is only identifiable by the long queue of hungry customers waiting outside it. Quick tip: if the queue is too long, you can always get a seat at circle and slice. Its owned by the same owner so they also serve the same food in grounded. Not only that, but the pizza at circle and slice is actually amazing - fresh, high quality ingredients with decent portions. In my opinion, the food at circle and slice was the winning point for me as I felt the food at grounded was lackluster. The sourdough bread tasted of quality but lacked butter, the beef sausages tasted amazing, the buttermilk pancakes were very lacking, and nowhere near the quality of American pancakes. Also, flavours were limited. The saving grace for grounded was the coffee - freshly brewed and bitterless. The rest was substandard at best. The pizza options at circle and slice however is worth coming again. Service is a little slow too - sat down at 11:10 and got our food at 11:50.

Grounded is everything you'd want in a brunch option. With that in mind, avoid it for weekend brunch because it is crazy busy! Go for dinner or a late lunch because you'll be able to walk right in and order without dealing with a line. The vegetarian burger was wonderful, and the fries were exceptional. The English breakfast was very good but maybe not great. The sausage was bland, the beans were boring, but everything else delicious! I'd happily return. Staff made it a great experience by being prompt and helpful.

Long wait outside of the restaurant, completely justified by the quality and price of what you’re going to eat. Excellent service, friendly staff. Cappuccinos were excellent, the coffee used is really good. The scrambled eggs with turkey bacon and crushed avocado was delicious and very generous. Pancakes are fluffy and tasty. But the best surprise was the fruit ball with yogurt and honey, it was for me the best plate I got. If I’m ever back in London, I will definitely pass by to have another brunch here.

I’m a huge fan of Grounded London! Everything I’ve eaten thus far has been delicious. The quality and flavors are fresh and vibrant, and drinks are enjoyable. I definitely recommend everyone to dine here.

There's a lot off buzz around this cafe, there was even a queue outside. To be honest, I'm not sure what the hype is! My friend and I have had better brunch elsewhere. She ordered the scrambled eggs and I ordered pancakes. As I said, nothing to write home about. The service was great. We waited in line for 15 minutes so it wasn't too bad. Neither of us tried their coffee - which - I think they're known for? I wouldn't go out of my way to go here again. Between us we spent £34.

This is my second time dining here for breakfast and my impression about it remained the same. The service was on point, friendly and smiling staff upon entry. The crew member who took care of us explained the menu, gave us recommendations what to have. Interior wise is very rustic, which I really like so much. There is a wide selection of food and is vegan friendly. The price is very reasonable for the portion. I had their beef sausage breakfast and oh my, I underestimated the size and ordered three stacks of buttermilk pancakes! I ended being filled up so much! My friend has their eggs benedict and I love how the yolks run smoothly to the sourdough bread! Overall, it was a very pleasant experience: food, location and service were outstanding! This place is highly recommended especially those who work night shifts from a hospital nearby!

Great service, top-quality coffee! The only real disappointment was the turkey bacon. If i would have known it was turkey bacon i would have ordered something else. But great if you follow a halal diet.

Amazing little breakfast restaurant. Ate here 3 out of 4 days on my visit to London. Very cozy, but you need to be here on time otherwise the ques are long. 09.00 is perfect, any later and you'll stand in line for up to 30 min. Food is amazing. Really enjoyed all 3 meals. Freshly made with great care. Organic eggs, and fresh produce. Both food and drinks are amazing. Staff can be a bit slow, and they managed to send the wrong food one day. But still amazing. Would definantly go back here! <3

TIP #1: The pizza place Circle & Slice next door is owned by the same business and they are more than happy to serve your Grounded breakfast/brunch there. Consider that if you want to skip the queue. TIP #2: Factor in waiting time in a queue at the door. This place is usually packed for breakfast and brunch

This restaurant, situated on my way to and from work, always has a queue whether it's day or night. I've been there twice, both times for brunch. Despite the wait, the staff takes the effort to suggest moving to a nearby coffee shop if we prefer. The menu is the same. The only drawback is that they seem quite busy, sometimes struggling to manage orders or provide the bill promptly.

A great brunch place with really decent food, though do keep in mind that you may have to queue. I got the omelette and my friend got the French toast. Both were delectable, but the French toast really takes the cake for the soft brioche and the diverse range of fruits. However, the matcha latte was rather gritty and coarse. In terms of taste it definitely isn't the worst I've tried, but the quality certainly can be improved.

We found Grounded on Google as we were staying in a nearby hotel and needed breakfast. We found Grounded staff friendly and service efficient. Lovely environment and clean. Choice of food is very good, and very well cooked, with no grease on the plate. Great choice of fresh juices. The variety of cakes on offer looked stunning, just didn't have the room after to try. Will be back.

Top place for a hearty breakfast , a nice latte or a quick nibble. We stayed at a hotel nearby and didn't sign up for breakfast there, but instead we walked a few minutes to have a feast at Grounded. Amazing service, team is A-OK and food is delicious !! Would 100% go back anytime !

The breakfast platter was pretty good. The sausage was a bit unseasoned, but maybe that's just how English people have their sausage. For the price, the amount of food we were served was very reasonable. Overall, I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Good ambience, service and taste! Ordered English breakfast and French toast, portion was good and price too. Their juices were tasty and fresh. Can’t say it’s the best I’ve had but a good place if you are around the area.

We waited in line for about 15-20 minutes for brunch on a Saturday but it was so worth it. We had the pancakes and the French toast with sausage and scrambled eggs. Sad they didn’t have bacon on the menu but it was still great. We also had the mango & avocado smoothie and it tasted incredible, it was so fresh. It was slightly crowded as it was a small restaurant but I did not mind.

We ate here three times. Once for dinner and twice for breakfast. Every time was delicious! The staff are wonderful and very helpful. Pastries, gluten free options, coffee, tea, and breakfast all day.

Amazing place, for someone coming to London for tourism and to enjoy food I actually loved this breakfast place. Loved it that much I kept going back as the food is just on point! I got the full English breakfast, pancakes and French toast. All was a delight, can’t wait to visit again once I’m back! Only downside is that it’s so popular you may have to wait to get in. Best to come earlier to get seated.

We ordered the full English which was a really good portion size and great value for money. The sausages were really tasty and the turkey bacon were non greasy and delicious. The plate could easily be shared between two people if you're not really hungry. The French toast was on point and not too sweet. The bread was soft and scrumptious. We did order the smoothie which by itself was great however it was 31 degrees out and I expected the smoothie to come cold but it was quite warm - as expected with fresh fruit smoothies however ice would've been great! Overall, for the price you can't go wrong and the atmosphere was nice with people there for brunch and lunch and good areas to sit. The service was fast and welcoming. I would definitely recommend.

Halal all-day brunch spot in Whitechapel. They also do burgers and other dishes. The service is on point, but the French toast will blow you away. By far the best I've had, and I've tried a fair few. The coffee is delicious too. Come for an eclectic experience and bangin' food. Lovely place Will be going back again.

There was a wait about 20-30mins outside, but I was told that's normal. And after we were seated, the queue actually got longer than when we were in it. We had veggie breakfast was a good portion and better than expected. Mushrooms and tomatoes were well seasoned. French toast was one of the best I've had. Good portion enough to share if you're not eating alone. Caramelised sugar on top, which adds a whole new deliciousness, glad there wasn't any Nutella it was really good with just maple syrup and cream.

Very nice breakfast place that opens early... The food is great. Huge portions so share if you don't eat much. But overall, brilliant!

I have come across this place on social media. When I went there on a weekend there was a 40 min que outside the place until we got seated. I was recommended to try the full English breakfast. The sausages were bang average, the beans didn’t really have any flavour and I feel like this does not compare to a lot of English breakfasts I had in the past. A bit disappointed after waiting outside for 40 mins to try the food.

This restaurant was trending on social media so I decided to give it a try. It was indeed very good and I appreciated a good English halal brunch in London. However, it’s difficult for big groups (more than 2 people) to eat there during busy times because the seating area can only handle two people at a time, despite having a few tables for larger groups. You will have to wait for them to finish, in a queue outside, and the waiting time can reach 30 minutes (or more). My suggestion would be to go in groups of two.

The coffee at this breakfast spot is truly spectacular, delivering a rich and robust flavor that perfectly complements the delightful menu. The French toast is a heavenly blend of sweetness and fluffiness, while the chicken jerk burger packs a flavorful punch. The pancakes are a must-try, light and fluffy. Overall, a delightful culinary experience that I highly recommend – a perfect start to your day!

Everything was so delicious, best french toast and breakfast I’ve ever had. The coffee was so good that I bought myself a bag of it!!! Their juices are delicious too. Service was great!

The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was really good. You really felt like you wanted to sit down and eat and sit chatting there. I've gone past this place all the time and it's always busy. I can totally see why. The food was really nice and tasty. The only criticisms I would give (for minor improvements) are the following : a) the full list of drinks were not listed on the menu (coke, lemonade etc) especially with the prices, I probably would've ordered something else if I didn't realise cans costs so much. b) some amenities would be good to have on the table without having to ask for it like sauces for the fries and tissues etc. Other than that I thought the overall experience was really good and the food was really tasty. I write very few reviews of food places but the fact that I did for this place is really telling.

This is my fave breakfast place! Every time I have gone I have never been disappointed. One of the best buttermilk pancakes I have ever eaten, highly recommended. English breakfast, the eggs are cooked perfectly to my liking. There has always been a queue on the weekends in the mornings due to popularity, worth the wait.

My husband and I really enjoyed the breakfast here, there was a good range to pick from and nicely presented. The coffee was really good too. The waitress was really helpful and made time to speak to us, the chef and owner also made a lot of effort to answer questions and make time to speak to us. The decor is lovely and the quality of the food is high. Would highly recommend even if you have to wait.

GROUNDED- ALGATE BRANCH Lovely cosy branch of the Grounded. We went on a Saturday, therefore there was a half and hour wait to be seated. The food was excellent. We all ordered breakfast which all came piping hot and everything tasted fresh and well balanced. The coffees all tasted good, however could do with being made to a higher temperature, as they were only warm when brought to our table. The pricing is a little on the higher end depending on what is being ordered. The location is very tight on space, but we were never made to feel rushed or that we needed to leave as soon as we finished eating. The servers were excellent, polite, friendly and attentive. Very good experience, worth a visit.

Oh the pot of tea was super. I had french toast and my son had salmon with sour dough toast. The presentation was nice and the food was very tasty. Will go there again.

Awesome breakfast place! We had to wait in line for about 5 minutes both times we went, but it is well worth the wait. It is a very nice environment with some relaxing modern music. Good for savory or sweet! One of the best mushroom omelets I have had, and very thick pancakes.

Love the brekky. Great place for morning chillax with a great cup of coffee and hearty breakfast to kick start the day. Friendly service too. Portion is way too generous for one person.

Absolutely the most amazing place for breakfast or lunch. The decor and atmosphere are topped off with phenomenal food and service. We got French toast, poached eggs and a traditional English breakfast and all were absolutely spectacular. The place offers fresh pastries and sandwiches to go as well.

It’s amazing! I really recommend going there. I visited with my godchild after we arrived in London early in the morning. I never had a better Latte ever in my entire life and the customer service is really good. Everyone was friendly, seemed happy and the atmosphere was relaxed (even when it was really busy tbh), friendly and everyone was pretty courteous. We’ll definitely come back!
