City
of
London
Police
Museum
is
a
museum
dedicated
to
the
Police
force
in
London.
The
museum
shares
the
same
building
has
that
of
the
Guildhall
Library.
The
museum
charts
the
history
of
the
London
police
from
it;s
very
beginning
as
an
ad-hoc
group
of
glorified
night
watchmen
to
the
professional
force
it
is
today.
Some
of
the
best
known
events
associated
with
the
force
such
as
Jack
the
Ripper
murders,
terrorist
bombings
and
riots
are
well-documented.
There's
also
a
good
amount
of
information
about
different
divisions
of
the
modern
police
force
such
as
dog
handlers,
mounted
police,
forensics
etc.
There's
a
lot
of
written
information,
but
for
those
who
prefer
to
listen,
there's
free
audio
guides
with
commentary
from
current
and
former
police
officers.
Nice
to
hear
from
first
hand
experience
and
a
nice
change
from
standard
narrators.
The
museum
is
nice
and
compact
and
it
should
be
possible
to
get
through
it
in
under
an
hour.
If
visiting,
do
check
the
opening
times.
It's
open
every
weekday,
but
not
open
every
weekend.
