Visually one of the most impressive climbing facilities I've ever been to! The Castle Climbing Centre offers a lot of space for both climbing and bouldering and has many rooms across the whole building in which you can still see the structure of the Castle it used to be. The wells of the Castle has been repurposed as a climbing "tunnel" as well. Make sure you bring enough time to explore this unique climbing facility if you get the chance to visit! The quality of the boulders are equally amazing as the rest of the gym and offers a variety of difficulties for beginners and experts. Boredomless quality time guaranteed!

Loved it! After seeing pictures online me and my partner felt like we had to visit while on our vacation I'm England. So just a one time visit but the walls were better than in the photos, the staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. I felt that there were some inconsistencies in the grading of the top ropes but had a really enjoyable climbing experience overall

WOW!! One of the best climbing centres in London! There are so many walls and different grades to choose from that your fingers and arms will surely give out before you’ve tried them all. Costs £14 to get in for as long as you like and £6 to rent a harness and shoes. Definitely helpful if you have a friend who knows how to belay ropes so that you can use those walls as well. Will definitely go back!

If you are into climbing, this place should be on your list. The draws, at least for me: 1) you are climbing within an actual castle (originally a Victorian water pumping station), but nevertheless an actual castle of a building, 2) the sheer amount of climbing contained within. The climbing itself really is impressive with so many different areas to choose from -bouldering, various roped with some auto ascenders. Including a very tall silo type area. It takes quite a while just to walk though every room. I thought I had found everything… but kept finding new areas and rooms for the next couple hours. It’s really impressive. And the staff is superb, very helpful and engaged. Check it out!

Went bouldering with a group of friends including a couple who have never climbed before who were able to rent shoes. Everyone had the best time, there is so much to do with the huge amount of walls available to all. Loved the outdoor walls too, excellent for the summer 🙌🏼 will definitely visit again.

It’s interesting that it’s built in an old castle. However everything is quite old and dirty. Area is very big and the bouldering walls are spread all around so you got to keep walking up and down to different areas. If you are there for the high walls, maybe you will enjoy it more than a boulderer would.

Climbing gym with PERSONALITY! Wow, you really are climbing inside a castle. That’s crazy! Very versatile centre. Auto-relay, top rope and bouldering. Centre is huge and there is A LOT of bouldering problems 👍🏼 One of the best centres in London

Love this place! Where else is it possible to climb walls in a Castle? There are ropes and boulder options. They also rent shoes and powder. It's a nice place to go with friends and you're free to climb both inside and outside walls if you've chosen the bouldering experience. Really recommend to whom enjoy this type of fun.

Great place, we were here for bouldering and there is PLENTY of problems to try across the 4-5 floors. Technical, overhangs, traverse walls, pump room, free standing boulders, cave etc. Obviously lots to do if you want to lead climb too. A couple of strenght fitness machines like rowers etc. Polite and helpful staff. There's also a cafe with healthy food and a shoes & clothes shop. Rental climbing shoes too.

Easily my newest favorite climbing gym. Between the numerous and plentiful top rope/lead routes, the indoor and outdoor bouldering, and the fact that it's in a CASTLE, it can't be beat. You can easily spend the day here and take your mind off all the people you now hate! They're really good about making sure you supervise your inexperienced friends like children if they aren't the most seasoned of climbers, which mine were rather appreciative of. Additionally, the routes are clearly and well graded. Other amazing amenities include: on-site café, lengthy bike racks, a garden where they grow the food for the cafe, a small river, and a kind community with interesting programs. Can't wait to come back

Highly recommended!!! There are so many different variations. Outdoor and indoor bouldering, top rope (around 8 auto belays) and lead.

V cool indoor&outdoor climbing gym! Various boulder n rope routes. Defo worth the price. The latte n lemon drizzle cake at gyms cafe is fab. Route setting is more strict than northern gyms🥲We had great fun😊

What a place! First time climbing and this was an insane experience. The building inside is breathtaking. I’m definitely going back!

First of all, it’s a friggin castle!!! Very cool to explore around and look out the turrets! Decent bouldering routes especially with the recently redone area on the third floor. Great variety of slabs and overhangs for beginners and intermediates climbers too. Shirt off allowed. Clean showers and changing rooms, free lockers and free water. I think I paid 8euros as a student (not including shoes)

Simply one of the best climbing centres in the uk!! I’ve been going to castle climbing for sometime now and I’m very impressed with how they continue to keep things interesting. They change the routes regularly and there’s something to challenge you no matter your skill level. They cater to all levels of experience from complete beginner to advanced climbers. There’s a great atmosphere and I always look forward to visiting. They also have a really good cafe so you can refuel during or after a hard climbing session. If you’re into climbing and in the area certainly check this place out.

The palace of climbing... A lovely place to train, practice and enjoy bouldering or rock climbing. My son has just loved it. There are also a library, a coffee place and a shop to chill once you want a break. It just a little tricky to fill all the forms to get in... Hopefully the staff is helpful.

Great place to climb. So much choice and variety, felt like a maze at first but managed to navigate round in the end. Staff were helpful and friendly and happy to give advice. The big walls were good but the wells were amazing as they were little private rooms to lead or auto belay. Bouldering was also great, mixture of traditional boulders and comp style problems. Not a massive choice in the cafe but was good food none the less at a reasonable rate, £8.20 for flatbread and hummus, vegan brownie and 250ml tenzing. The shop had a massive collection of gear: ropes, harnesses, shoes, belay devices, clothes, chalk bags, chalk, bottles and even gear for trad. Price for purchase was a little steep but options for renting were at a very reasonable price. Great value for money as there's so much choice!

Cool location; bouldering problems are a bit sparse albeit the vast space. Rating is definitely tougher than other gyms. .Might not be good for absolute newbies

My favourite climbing centre in the UK! There is a bunch of bouldering (both indoors and outdoors), lead and top roping (the bouldering cave is my personal favourite though). There is also a gym with a lot of space for stretching. The centre is huge and you definitely need to visit it s couple of times to really explore all the different areas. All the bouldering grades are graded using the v-scale. The cafe has really reasonable prices and great vegan food. The only semi-dissapointing thing was the shop that was not too big and had a somewhat limited selection of shoes and other climbing accessories.

Pretty cool climbing gym. Whenever I travel I like to check out gyms in the area. This was my first time climbing in England. The staff was friendly for a Sunday morning. The gym itself is a bit old and rundown but in a charming way. Lots of top rope options. My only gripe was that the walls are so low but I guess you make due when using a castle. The route setting was creative given the wall height. There were also auto-belays which is cool if you're into top rope and climbing alone. There was also a cute little shop and cafe. The neighborhood it is in is charming as well. Would definitely return - most likely in July so that I can add to my climbing gym shirt collection since they were out of stock.

It was such a pleasant experience!! I highly recommend this place! There are many walls even in outside including rope climbing, you can just rent climbing shoes with only 3£ When I got there at 9am on Saturday morning, it wasn’t hectic at all but around 11am.. it got crowded so it’ll be better that you get here early When you get bored of your daily working out routine, just try this one!

A really, really cool climbing centre. Went bouldering here with a few of my friends and we had a really great time, with lots of bouldering walls scattered throughout the really quite beautiful and well-renovated building, previously a Water Board pumping station. Staff were friendly and attentive and the walls were well maintained (and suitable for pretty much anyone). I haven't tried out the cafeteria but the hired shoes were a tiny bit slippery so I'd be careful of that. Good selection of coin-operated and bring-your-own-lock lockers.

Very cool place, but it gets busy so quickly and it’s quite expensive. Aim to just go off-peak or you risk to wait to do any activity. Also I find it a very confusing the stairs, rooms etc .. not a very logic layout.

Came here a few weeks ago and it was one of the most interesting indoor climbing facilities I have been to. It is a literal castle. The staff were all really friendly too. One thing would be that because it is a castle, it is a little older, but comeon, IT’S A CASTLE

Super lovely space and staff are pretty helpful. There’s a bunch of areas and rope + bouldering. The garden space outside is lush for a little rest too. Good food and coffee. And prices are decent - on a weekend for bouldering it’s £10 pretty decent in comparison to other places. £3 for shoe rent. Overall not bad. I’d deff visit again although it’s a little further for me.

I probably will never see a better rock climbing centre in the UK, there are multiple floors of climbing with bouldering, belaying and auto belaying walls, you're pretty spoilt for choice here. There is equipment to hire here with food and drink to buy too along with equipment to buy too. There is also a lovely outside garden area to relax in too should you wish to take a break from climbing

This place has lots of character and all the pros and cons that come with that (keep in mind I only had the chance to go once). PROS: Super unique location that’s fun to explore. First rock gym i‘ve been to in which getting lost is a real option. Fun to have different rooms dedicated to different styles of climbing (slab, overhanging, etc). Different areas have different generations of rock gym building styles because the gym grew organically over time (30 years old in 2023 I believe). CONS: Some holds are very worn. Doesn’t seem like the place resets its routes much either. It was very crowded when I went (although that’s to be expected - January 2nd). Lots of little janky corners that have been collecting dirt over the years. Attempts to cover these areas with tarp might not be everyone’s aesthetic (although I didn’t mind it - a reminder of the dirty bag origins of rock climbing). Not much over V7 on the Boulder side from what I saw. Could get boring for the more experienced climber over time. This gym doesn’t have any merchandise. How? The location is the easiest sell ever. IT’S IN A CASTLE. This gym would have been a top addition to my rock gym t-Shirt collection.

Allow more time than you had planned if this is your first visit, the setting up process was quite lengthy. Shoes are available to hire. Lots of routes to choose from, then cool off in the shade or bask in the sun at the picnic tables. Good coffee.

First time visiting for bouldering, was a shame that I didn't spend long enough because my fellow friend unfortunately got injured. But the staff members are very responsive and take all the steps to ensure my friend's safety. The staff members are very supportive and patient the whole time. I will definitely return again.

Very professional climbing place, huge, clean and well organized. Plenty of training courses. The bar service and food is excellent, homemade vegan and vegetarian food . The vegetables are provided for the Castle Permaculture garden so they are organic and free of pesticides. Very nice garden to climb and rest. Amazing!

I've climbed a lot over a 30 year period mostly in Europe and the UK. I like taking my kids to indoor walls so I can tempt them into "proper" climbing in the future. A lot of walls have become rather corporate due to the onslaught of Health and Safety regs over the past twenty years. However, this place has kept a little of the soul of the old school whilst offering a safe environment. And what a building! Loved it.
