Cannot recommend this place enough. A gem on Essex Road. We turned up for dinner and were warmly greeted. The service was very pleasant, the restaurant was nicely decorated and the music wasn’t loud. We ordered several dishes and all of them were fantastic. The pork belly (which I didn’t take a picture of) was very moist and the salsa on it wasn’t overpowering. The truffle cheese puffs were incredible. I haven’t eaten anything like them yet. The deep fried langosh bread with garlic yoghurt Parmesan and za’atar was better than the langosh we ate in Budapest. It was beautifully light, yet crisp. Finally, the ricotta, honey and figs were also fantastic. The prices and portions were reasonable. I haven’t got anything negative to say at all, so if you want to eat some delicious, yet affordable food, in a welcoming setting, please visit!

Nice food but tiny portions, spent nearly £13 on a club sandwich and went to the chippers up the road afterwards. Sorry, waaaay overpriced for what it was. Good food and service so 3/5

This is the best place for dinner around this area. My best friend lives close-by, and we've had Trade's sandwiches many times for lunch when working from his place, and they're amazing BUT dinner's menu and quality is so out of this world it made us reconsider all the rest of the options around. Hands down, the food and cocktails are so good we decided to make it our Friday eve treat. We started off with the corn salad, which I swear tastes like a taco if you close your eyes. We had next the halloumi salad that had so many layers to it we kept finding new ones with each bite. Then we had the cauliflower ajoblanco with canteloupe melon and serrano ham and grapes and it was a f game changer. Such a good combo of flavours that in paper seems odd but works so well. The roasted cabbage with noodles was the cherry on top before the AMAZING meringue lemon pie that was like a digestif I like to think but obviously way more delicious and reminded me of my gran's so much. All this alongside pomegranate margaritas. This place is so good I'm going to be praising about it everywhere I go! PS sorry the pic is so bad we just didn't make it in time to show the food

Really great spot for breakfast. We both had pancakes, bacon but I had mine with eggs. Was delicious! Good quality eggs and pancakes. Bacon I asked for extra crispy. It was really good. We will definitely come back. Despite being a really busy Sunday morning, we were able to get a table by 10:30am but it soon filled up. Service was still good despite being busy. Good music on in the background. 80’s/90’s and a good volume (not too loud!).

Pretty good quality breakfast. Good vibe. Decent coffee and nice staff. Good variety menu. Would definitely go again. Probably a 4.5 stars. Better than 4. Not quite a 5.

A cute cafe with high quality food and coffee in the neighbourhood! This TRADE is located at a more quiet area, which is in the middle of Angel and Highbury & Islington area. Was amazed by the truffle fries as the truffle mayonnaise was really aromatic with really well-fried fries! Pancake is more of the American style but still could maintain fluffiness - the clotted cream and maple syrup definitely added extra points! The salted beef of the benedicts was a bit too dry but look at the egg yolk! Would definitely try out the other branches of TRADE as this one branch has given me a lot of confidence!

Just came for a breakfast while I was waiting for something and got an entire experience. My morning has just been elevated to a whole next level. I just had my best chicken and bacon club and boy that was tasty, juicy and the flavours are so on point. Their coffee is also a superb blend and tastes great. The bold guy who served the ppl was such a cool dude. His attitude is super friendly. This place is vibing. I can't recommend it highly enough. Will be back for sure.

Oh me oh my - where do I start? What a wonderful hidden gem! Who knew this cool, hip cafe does dinner - and does it well! First of all - DO NOT MISS THE CHEESE PUFFS ! These beautiful, crispy, fluffy clouds of cheese heaven cannot be missed! Trust me what Freddie does with these will transform your taste buds and you won't regret it. Crispy tofu is delicious with the pepper sauce and the roasted aubergine was divine. Overall a taste bud sensation. Frida was so welcoming and friendly - a fantastic birthday evening and can't wait to return. Plus great tunes too!

Great local coffee spot. 5/5 flat whites for that anytime coffee hit - consistently strong and flavoursome brews. Very decent food menu too all made on-site, super fresh and tasty.

Incredible spot for dinner. Lots of small plates, and all fantastic. Stand outs were the cauliflower and the truffle cheese puffs and the schnitzel. Great selection of wines too. Good value for money, ordered everything on the menu (between 4 - slightly over ordered but all sounded so good!) plus cocktails, a delicious bottle of wine and desserts and was £40 each. Definitely will be going back.

Thought I had already left a review for this fantastic place! I have been coming here for a long time and have always had the same consistency in food, it’s always bloody delicious! It’s fresh and it’s good price for the quality of food you are getting. All the staff in Trade Essex road, are beautiful and welcoming and I thank you for your continous hospitality!

Great spot on Essex for a coffee or bite to eat. Stopped in for a quick lunch. Grilled cheese with tuna and mayo was hot, crispy and delicious. Iced americano was full of flavour and hit the spot on a hot day. Good vibe and good music playing. Lots of seating in a bright but cozy space. Highly recommend stopping by.

I've been to this restaurant tens of times in the last 3 years, it had been consistently good until today. This time I was sat at a dirty (sprinkled sugar and sticky syrup) table. The waitress pretended as if she was doing a big favour when I asked her to have a wipe on it. She then forgot to bring my cornbread order and again there was no sign of apology whatsoever when I reminded them of it. When served the bread was partially frozen inside. There was no manager around.

We were served promptly and our order was taken soon after we arrived. I could see the food being prepared efficiently and well, however, it is worth mentioning that our scrambled/poached eggs on sourdough were cooked and ready almost 10 minutes before they arrived at our table. They were sitting on the shelf above the grill. Unfortunately by that time, the sourdough was chewy and the poached eggs were no longer runny. I also saw a pancake that sat there for 5 minutes before being taken to another table. There was capacity for the staff to do this, so not sure why the food was not delivered more promptly?

Trade is amazing! Staff were super nice and helpful, it's cozy inside and they don't bother you if you stay for a bit, the coffee is great, but most of all, the food is amazing! There are unique options that are still super filling - they aren't like those restaurants where the menu is just trying too hard to be unique and then the food comes in tiny portions. It's really good quality and value.

The chicken club sandwich is really really good. The mix of flavours and textures was very original and just perfect. Hats off to whomever worked that one out

This is a lovely cafe, with very kind and attentive staff. The coffee was great, but the avocado toast was only good, as I found it quite expensive for what you get.

I came here for a coffee and cake, and while the coffee was good (but not anything special) and the carrot cake tasty, there was a major red flag that cost Trade a good rating: We ordered a latte and an oat latte, and were given two (dairy) lattes. They replaced one when we noticed the issue, but even then there was no labelling on the cups. I was with someone who was lactose intolerant, not allergic thankfully, but this demonstrates a systemic problem when dealing with allergens (i.e. no process to label the cups). And along with that, the only dairy free cake (a vegan gluten-free fruit and nut bar) was sickly sweet and a bit gross. So: good coffee, nothing to get excited over, but some major concerns about bringing anyone here with dietary requirements.

We came for dinner and I have to say, it was some of the best food we've had in London. Everything was delicious and the prices were reasonable. Very friendly staff too !

One of my favorite places for buns! TRADE and from the ashes are my go to on the weekends. That secret sauce mixed with the cheese of the Cuban bun... oh-my-god! Delicious 😋 even though I haven’t been able to go back indoors, I still take the tube to Canonbury just for TRADE.
