Absolutely lovely, quiet, queer-friendly pub. We reserved a table for a Sunday afternoon to play board games and had food and drinks throughout the day. We had 2 kids (11 and 16) with us and they were made to feel welcome too. The Sunday roasts were amazing (according to those of us who were lucky enough to nab one) and the chips with aïoli I had were some of the best chips I've eaten. The service was delightful and very accommodating. Charlie and Jess made us feel very welcome and comfortable. I'd definitely come back - for the atmosphere, the food and the friendly and safe environment. Grateful for no TV blaring, and really great "alt-oldies" music playing - not too loud. Oh and they have some good stuff to drink too! 😜

Excellent local boozer. Good beer, good food, polite and friendly staff. What more do you want from a community pub?

Really nice local pub, and friendly folks. We hung out with Max the pub dog for a while, which added to the charm and relaxed evening.

Delicious Sunday roast! The service was great and the pub was surprisingly empty for being a Sunday. Good option close go upper street and not as crowded as most of the restaurants/pubs in the area.

We've had such a wonderful time here! Received the friendliest service! Food is great, beer is great! I recommend the schnitzel! Our compliments to the chef! Not to mention the cosy working fireplace!

A lovely local independent pub serving a wide range of well kept ales and ciders. Regular changes to the lineup, with various guest ales and specials. Small but well prepared menu. One of my favourite pubs in London.

Meow, meow meow meow meowwww! Great spot for cool cats, plenty of space to swing a cat (though am personally highly against that barbaric practice). Bar staff friendly, range of beers, good vibe - but too many dogs. 4.5/5 paws as a result. 🐈

Perfectly decent pub for a drink, friendly vibes, not too busy on a weeknight. Food was mediocre to my mind — ordered the veggie/vegan burger and it was a bit like a throwback to the early 2000s, bean burger/veggie burger vibes. Wouldn't take much effort to make the one vegetarian/vegan option on the menu a LOT better, just by switching out to a nicer burger. My partner liked the chips but I don't really enjoy those sort of brown, squishy style fries, so they weren't really for me. The smoked aubergine starter was very deliciously smoked but the nutty toppings were quite hard and chewy (again, may just be not to my taste). All the food was very hot and fresh, and obviously made with care — so it probably is a good kitchen! But if you're vegetarian and vegan there are so many incredible places to get a meal in this neighbourhood — maybe drink here and eat somewhere else.

I’ve lived in Angel for a decade. Hands down this is the best Sunday roast we’ve had in years, having traversed them all. I’d like to point out the bespoke Emma’s menu, I guess, well I’m hoping, what makes it work. Other pubs and yes even the independents still have everything and their dog on the menu. Which makes you wonder how fresh is it all. That roast chicken was incredible. The Bar staff brilliant. Can’t wait to visit again.

An amazing venue: clean, modern and airy with an excellent outdoor space. We hosted a 50th party on Sunday 17/02/19. Our guests had a great evening and the staff were so friendly and helpful.

Been here twice now, a lovely hidden pub despite it being on a long stretch of road. Staff on both occasions have been lovely and are happy to have a laugh. Prices are reasonable. Although I didn't order food on either occasion, I have to say it looked delicious when a couple of plates came past!! It's always nice to have a decent dog-friendly pub.

If you want a pub in Islington, you want to come to the Foxglove. Excellent food, beers, wines and spirits. Best thing is the atmosphere. The regulars are extremely attractive. They allow dogs and if you’re lucky you might meet Spooky. The outdoors areas (front and back) are great winter or summer too.

Love this cosy dog friendly pub, has a fantastic range of beers, wines and cocktails, lovely food options and honestly, it feels like a home away from home. Everyone who works there is always so lovely and welcoming. It has lovely regulars (and their dogs) and hosts great socials. Definitely highly recommended! UPDATE a year on (17th July 2023): Yesterday I discovered they now also do the, honest to god, best Vegan Sunday Roast I've ever had (see pictures attached). It was epic! So so so good! Staff even said to me that the vegan roast was their favourite roast even though they eat meat! The Wellington filling looked like meat, felt like meat and tasted like meat but was actually made from beetroot (though didn't taste like beetroot which is impressive in itself), nuts and a bunch of other stuff. Honestly I'm salivating at the thought of it now 🤤 absolutely delicious!

I was visiting for social reasons but I work as a journalist covering a lot of hospitality and I was genuinely super impressed two very busy bees behind the bar who not only knew their stuff but really knew how to run a pub bar. They were kind, helpful and had their own style which I love. I sat at the bar for a while, which is my happy place as its a perfect spot to let the world go by. Very impressed and loom forward to returning.

Food: Went for a Sunday roast and was pleasantly surprised by the vegetarian options! They had a butternut squash AND a veggie Wellington roast - I opted for the Wellington and was happy with my choice! I was told the filling is made from tofu, beetroot, and nuts- it looked very similar to meat (though didn’t taste like it) & was very tasty! The portions were hearty & large, and the value felt fair for the veggie option which isn’t often the case! Ambiance: The pub is cozy with its fireplace and dark wood, but one of the guys working there was especially snarky & pretty rude to our table which is why I had to knock a star. They’re dog friendly and took on a booking for a large group

A cozy hidden pub with a nice space and atmosphere. The service was polite, kind and helpful. Negroni tasted great for a reasonable price. However, the chicken schnitzel was good, the rocket salad was very oversalted. I couldn't finish it. If you want to grab a drink, it's worth going.

I had arrived to see someone I didn't know where to go once inside I asked for a beer I was asked which one then I asked for Fosters the woman said they don't have that then I said I will think about which one the lady suggested cider to I said no I am still thinking about it and could I not be rushed. Then suddenly the woman just turned around suddenly asking me to leave as if I had done something offensive. When I asked if I had done something to the woman she said she is the land lord and that I am not suitable to attend her pub, since I am black and I hadn't argued with anyone or touched I had to question why they was being racist against me. The land lord lady attempted to use her mixed race ethnicity to justify her self as black while clearly discriminating against me, I had to remind her that she is mixed race and not black, she then attempted to use a white sounding white endoctrinated sellout black guy who refused to accept averagely coulterd black coulter, to put me down. He didn't attempt to identify if I am Caribbean, African North or South American black, they just continued to threatn me with police only because I had asked what I had done wrong, I had to deny both of them any black recognition due to their hostile behaviour towards me, straight from work and not have had any alcoholic drink for over 4 years and completely sober at the end of my day. This bar is completely racist, for racist against average non violent black men

Great little pub. Much better inside than the exterior suggests. Good range of beers and the staff were super friendly and offered samples of the craft beer available. I’ll definitely pop back in soon

I liked the place. I ate this flatbread pizza which was very good. The staff was extremely nice and welcoming. My only complait is the lack of papertowels in the toilets. But otherwise I will be visiting again when I'm in London, and I also recommend it to my friends.

Lovely pub with a real wood stove- this is a “free house”, meaning it’s not owned by a brewery. The two women behind the bar were great- friendly top of things. As a woman alone, I wasn’t uncomfortable; people were friendly and there was a dog as big as a pony to pet- all pubs should come with such a dog. I was told the fois is good, but we ate next door at the Vietnamese place- which was excellent.

This place was fully booked from 2-430pm for Sunday roast. Knowing this & given it's reviews - I had to come and try it! Came at 1230 with a friend and we nearly had the whole pub to ourselves. The decor is tasteful and the outside area also nicely done with blankets. The roast was sadly the worst part: while the portion was MASSIVE (1/2 a chicken!) - all of it was pretty mediocre, including the half cooked potatoes & un-seasoned chicken. We went through 3 tubs of gravy to add some oomph, & at the end - ended up leaving some food on the plate. I think if they spent less on the portion size, & more on the execution - it could be a really stellar place. With that said, I'd be up for trying the burger, which looked decent in photos. Maybe Sundays just not their day... Each chicken roast was £18. With 2 coffees the bill was ~£49.
