WARNING: steer clear of this scammy organization. We hired Bolt Burdon for a routine change to a lease where all parties had already agreed to the change and only needed solicitors to actually make the amendments. They offered to charge a fixed fee, rather than by the hour, and we took them up on it because we thought it would be a hard limit on our costs. It was clear that as soon as they couldn't charge us by the hour we were the lowest priority for Bolt Burdon. We must have called them 30 times, every time we called they were 'busy' and not once did they return our call. Months go by with no contact despite constant emails and calls from our end. Eventually they do get in contact - to ask for more money! That's right - even though we paid a "fixed" lump sum up front they demanded almost the same amount again, despite the fact that they did practically no work. Foolishly we paid the extra amount and we went back to not hearing from them. More months went by with zero returns to our calls and email, then suddenly they got in touch - they needed more money again! Eventually the whole thing fell though, after 18 months. They initially estimated it would take less than 10 hours to do the work. They never even produced a draft of the changes! We are in the process of opening up an official complaint with the Legal Ombudsman. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

I am an immensely grateful to Bolt Burdon, and Melanie and Keegan in particular, for pulling something close to a miracle. For some specific tax reasons it was very important for me to sell my house in 2022 and we managed to do it just 2 days before completions were stopped for Christmas. They worked relentlessly being the very definition of being "on the ball": all my e-mails were answered promptly, every phone call answered, they chased the buyer's solicitors constantly, and managed the process of delayed (by buyers) exchange. I honestly cannot think of a single thing they could have done better. If I think of google 5 stars being akin to 5 star designating upmarket luxurious hotel, that it is meant to wow you...that is exactly the service we received. Every step of the way, we were updated, informed and even comforted, with very kind and supportive words. It was in a stark contrast to solicitors we used on our previous sale that failed, in the other case we really felt "the transactional nature of our relationship" we were confused and left to deal with the problems on our own. But not with Bolt Burdon. This time we were extremely stressed because our previous transaction failing and so little time left to achieve our objective. Melanie and Keegan understood our situation and they acted accordingly. But what really impressed me was the sense of how much they actually cared to deliver. When the agreed exchange date was moved despite everything agreed I could tell that Melanie took our problem almost as it was her own and was genuinely frustrated and upset. It tells a lot not only about her professional qualities but how empathic she is as a human being. Thank you again for all your hard work and saving us from a lot of potential problems. For the sake of full disclosure we were introduced to the firm by our friend and she did mention to Melanie and Keegan we were her friends but she assured us that the service those two delivered is what they would have done for every client.

We are a small business. We were well-looked after by a partner at Bolt Burdon for a number of years. He moved on and we were handed over to another solicitor at the firm. Nice chap but he had no expertise in the area of law, which he told me himself, while giving us a bill for two grand for doing a few days work that he had no expertise in, while explaining that the firm could no longer represent us as they did not have the relevant expertise. Why he did the work we'll never know as it was useless and obviously so - who wants legal advice from a lawyer without the requisite expertise? Why Bolt Burdon chose to bill us for the work makes even less sense. We paid Bolt Burdon's bill as they threatened to bring in debt collectors. We are taking the company to the Legal Ombudsman in the hope that they will tell the firm to issue a refund and not do anything like this to another small business. We recently discovered that the Legal Ombudsman is fairly toothless and can only issue a £300 fine so it's hardly any recompense. Regrettably they get one star for extreme lack of transparency and nonsensical work and billing practices.

I would like to say a huge Thank you to Leah. Our first time home buying experience was so smooth. Bolt Burdon was recommended to us by our mortgage broker A Nish Mortgages and I am so glad we went with their recommendation. We had only 2 months to compete our purchase and Leah worked day in and out to make this possible. She was always available to speak on the phone and no question was a silly question for her. We will be ever so grateful to her for making our lives so easy.

As part of our house purchase we used bolt burdon and they were exceptional! Incredibly responsive (same day replies to all queries). Meticulous attention to detail and thoroughly pleasant to deal with. Cathrine handled our conveyancing and was impeccable, the purchase would not have gone through on time without her. Vaishali dealt with our will and declaration of trust. Vaishali understood our needs incredibly well based short initial phone call and delivered the will and deed of trust on time and to the agreed amount quoted. She also guided us on things that we hadnt thought of and made the process extremely easy! I would (and have) recommended bolt burdon to anyone looking for conveyancing and will services, they are a cut above the rest

I recently worked with Bolt Burdon on the auction sale of a property in NW5 and I was extremely impressed with their professionalism and the speed at which they put together the legal pack for the auction which I have no doubt contributed to the successful sale of the property. Communication was excellent - honest and friendly - and to my mind, they did everything they could for their client which is extremely important when choosing a solicitor. Looking forward to working with them again in the future. Thank you to Melanie, Ella, Michael and Martin

A very professional firm with a modern and approachable attitude. We used them for buying and selling our property recently and have nothing but praise for the way it was managed by Cathrine Williams and colleagues. Always up to speed, Cathrine kept the whole process on the road and was always on hand to answer our questions and offer clear explanations in layman's terms. We would highly recommend them.

I instructed Bolt Burdon to act on my behalf in the sale of a commercial property. I spoke with the partner Artan who then requested that Bradley carry out the work. I was very impressed with their hard work, they were prompt efficient and kept me informed at all times. Polite and professional... I would highly recommend their services to anyone who so requires. Thank you Raisa

I have had recent dealings with Ella Wright, who acted for a purchaser on one of our sales. She was extremely proactive, communicative, helpful and patient, as our clients solicitor was the complete opposite. I cannot recommend Ella enough and look forward to dealing with her again. used for conveyancing services, solicitor left hallway through completion , didn't warn us of crazy planning consent put in that massively affected our house, spent over two years and a ton of money battling neighbour and council as a result, would never have proceeded with sale if I knew, now im moving again! they didn't even put a fraud protection on our title until new solicitor made enquirys! absolutely disgraceful ...I will defo follow this up! AVOID!!

Tim Lucas wasn't able to fully advise on my case as it was specific to laws outside of the UK but he still gave me detailed advice that allowed me to outsource the correct help I needed. It didn't stop there - he read through the documents I sent him and was prompt in responding to my query and went above and beyond to help me as much as he was able to, all free of charge. Thanks Tim!
