Iconic theatre in London. Has a nice bar and the architecture alone is worth a visit. The Effect currently playing is a good reason to take a trip there. Well acted and thought provoking.

An absolutely beautiful theatre with so much going on. We went for a tour and to see Dear England; I’d highly recommend both. Our tour guide was kind & helpful, and told us about the histories of the theatres, which we got to tour, while taking us backstage. Additionally, Dear England was a really engaging show and was performed in the Olivier theatre, which has no bad seat.

First time seeing a performance here, I've used this space before for meetings but not watched anything. Was great seeing the witches musical in the olivier theatre getting £10 tickets using Friday rush for following week performance. This makes theatre accessible to everyone, including myself. The view from high up in the circle is great, and the revolving stage impresses me along with the actors and production. The bar staff are great, and there was a free water machine to use at the bar. Toilets were really clean too. Also the book shop staff are friendly, there are lots of great gifts and books in the shop I could spend ages in there. Hope to go back and watch more theatre here soon.

The national theater is in my opinion one of the best theatres. The architecture is amazing. Shows are usually top class. The facilities are ample and clean. The atmosphere is always good and the staff friendly. The seating is upright but comfortable. Location is good being central London on the southbank within 10 mins of a tube or there is parking available if you have limited mobility. Overall If your visiting London even if it's not for a show it's worth visiting. I would highly recommend

I go to see almost everything at the National theater. This is a bit of a risk as I've seen some very duff productions there but these are in a minority and most of the plays I've seen there have been good or outstanding. The most recent production I saw was the Nationals big Christmas presentation of The Witches. This is a big brash exuberant production with some very large scale musical numbers. However, I have to say it left me a little cold. But then I think the show is aimed principally at children. So I am probably not the appropriate target audience to comment

What a fantastic building from the inside and outside. I went to see The Father and the Assassin, a fantastic play, and I was amazed by the size of the theatre as soon as I walked in. The way it’s laid out, view from every single seat is fantastic! The acoustics and lighting are also fab! It’s by the river so fantastic nighttime views if you go for an evening show.

We saw The Witches. The show was versatile, but the story is somewhat dumb. The National Theatre building was opened in 1976–1977, and it really looks 70’s. Pretty concrete grey. No complaints about The Olivier Theatre scene, though. The seats are good. Ticket sales advised to enter theatre at least half an hour before the beginning of the performance. That was exaggeration. The big crowd came just before the beginning. Wished there were better guiding from the Waterloo station to the theatre. It is not an easy route, and there are hardly any signs.

The best theatre there is. Bag search on the say in and then you can enjoy cafes and the really good bookshop on the ground floor. There are lots of stairs but lots of lifts too. The building works great ti crowd control so you are never standing in a line. Each floor has a bar. Multiple theatres. The most important part is that there are no bad seats, all the seats are good, just further away. The sets are beautiful, flawless, original. Seamless automation and beautifully painted. Lots of projectors and special effects.

Went to watch a play on the Oliver stage and wasn't disappointed. I'm a wheelchair user and access is very good. Staff are very helpful and friendly 🙂. All in all a very very good theatre.

I love this theatre. Almost every week I’m going. Great plays, great organisation inside and very helpful crew leading people along the way. One can also just go there to sit and work and use the facilities. That’s also another great plus about this place. Definitely recommend everybody to visit there some time.

Love the National theatre as a venue and been both in the Littleton and the Olivier Theatres within the last week. Just always reminded about how amazing this space!

An outstanding building both inside and out! This incredible brutalist buikding dominates the area and it’s staff are very welcoming. The plays here are usually of a high calibre. Drinks and snacks are expensive but hey. There is a nice little corridor that explains the history of the place which is very worth having a look at during an intermission

It might not look much from outside but it's great inside including balconies with great views. Staff are very professional and the food and drinks are tasty and reasonably priced. We loved our first show at the National and we will hopefully be back.

One of the best examples of brutalist architecture housing some of the capital's best plays. Great space to chill out, catch a play and grab some tasty food.

Superb show of The Witches. Incredible value at £20 a ticket for 4 rows back. Said restricted view/narrow seats but absolutely fine for us & don't think we missed anything, seats c14 & c15. Great view & lucky to have booked to see the very last show of the run. First time in the Olivier Theatre & it's such a lovely venue. We thoroughly enjoyed it & will certainly be back 💜🖤💜🖤💜🧙‍♀️🧙

I went to see The Witches at this theatre! This is the most modern theatre I've been to. The seats are wide and comfy with plenty of space in width and length. The seats of each row go up in height significantly and makes the view from your seat perfect even with someone tall in front! A massive stage with all the latest technologies and special effects. Very disabled friends with nice large lifts.

Lovely venue for the performing arts. Was at the Olivier Theatre to see The Father and the Assassin. The play was brilliant but the theatre itself was commendable with its revolving stage.

Paradise, hat a show and what a venue. All very Covid secure now but done with charm and efficiency, expect bag check and lines. Looks like the bookshop is gone, hopefully not permanent, and no seating or mixing areas. I was surprised at how strict it all was, most other places have returned to a near normality, but I respect the rules and don't care that much. I just want to see theatre and to be able to do so at the National is enough

Wonderful theatre space. Comfortable seats and plenty of leg space compared to many theatres (I'm tall). Great sound. I have enjoyed shows here in many of their spaces recently. Such an important addition to UK theatre.

Great, clean and welcoming theatre. Cafe / Restaurant too with plenty of toilets. Went to watch the Witches which was amazing throughout!

My first time at the National Theatre. Came to see Paradise.. a modern take by Kai Tempest on an ancient Greek story.. Wonderful atmosphere and terrific acting by the cast. Seating at the top of the stalls but had a wonderful view.. Definitely recommended..

Such a brilliant theatre. Have seen some incredible performances and productions here. Most recent visit we watched Roald Dahl's, Witches. I would highly recommend this!

I love NT, especially the Olivier theatre. I can honestly say I've never seen anything there I didn't love. And I've been there 12 times. This time we went to see "Paradise ". I read the reviews after I'd booked, and was concerned. All I can say: Don't trust reviews!

A wonderful venue that has superb productions and an awesome shop! Mainly seen shows on the Olivier stage which is the large stage and holds over 1,000 people. Architecture is amazing and lots to see inside like The Kerb and Understudy for great food and beverages. Great facilities and well organised and helpful staff.

This is so stylish, attractive, inspirational spot. I definitely want to go back again after Covid restrictions.:))

Wonderful most of the time. Struggling a bit dealing with Covid issues, I think. Too many rules, too little hospitality available (food, etc).

If you're around London or planning to visit London, June might be the best time. The weather is pretty good most of the time, and the summer vibe is perfect with all festivals, concerts, open plans, pubs, and gardens. Southbank / National Theatre festival is one of the good open/public festivals in London. There are so many streets and alleys in Southbank, front of the National Theatre, and The Scoop turns as open plan clubs, so as you walk around, there you can see the DJ desks, different type of live music band's gigs. Especially in front of the National Theatre, there are so many nice parties between June-July. Don't miss it, and have fun 😉

Amazing theatre and animated area by the river. Very good organization from the security at the entrance to the theatre staff. We've been there for 'The Effect' play and everything was incredible. Thank you!

Always a place I want to be! Lovely staff and ushers, some great shows too. I would have liked the drinks menu to be a little boarder as I don’t drink alcohol or fizzy drinks but apart from that, I was happy with my water. Easy location to find from Waterloo which means you can have a really pleasant evening in London and not stray too far from the station.

A wonderful place with a brilliant layout on the ground floor and reception to wonder around and get a drink at the bar before the performance. The bookshop is great too. It's not as easy to wonder around and see small exhibitions on the first floor or go get a snack in one of the food canteens or see see a music performance on the ground floor but really hoping it will get to the pre lockdown total joy that it was.

Visited the National Theatre for the first time tonight and was impressed by the theatre and staff. We went to see HEX but it wasn’t our cup of tea. Actors, set and costumes were excellent but something was lacking for us with the music and script. Just didn’t gel with it and left at the interval. Glad to see others did enjoy it though.

First time visiting and it was a lovely experience. Signs to find it was a little too small so I ended up wandering around before finding the entrance. After a 3hr show, the chairs were a little uncomfortable but I'll put that down to the length of time in them. Refreshment prices are rather extortionate, a packet of crisps were approx £2. Staff were absolutely wonderful and worked well as a team to show me to my seat.

The National Theatre is so much more than just a place to experience some wonderful plays; it's also a great public space where people go to eat, read and browse a well resources theatre centric bookshop. Yes, like most popular venues it can get a little too busy for comfort but that's what happens as a victim of success! Always worth a dander and a butchers!

We've been here a few times and it always had great memories. Situated just on Southbank overlooking the Thames. Particularly like it when they open up the outside area on the Southbank and serve drinks. Easy to get to from Waterloo - a short walk

Saw Jack Absolute Flies Again, which was a top comedy show that was enjoyed thoroughly. The corporate evening has no vegan options. Had to ask for the fish and chips canapé without fish and never received it unfortunately. Otherwise recommended, but need plantbased options please. At least I grabbed some vegan food and dessert (sorbet/ice cream) outside the theatre.

Watched "HEX" here on 12th Jan. Very safe venue, everyone's covid passports are checked at the entrance (there's also a bag check point). A nice well-priced bar at the ground floor. Tip: the venue is huge and there are 3 theatre halls to be found. Arrive at least 20 min earlier to pass the entrance checks and find your hall.

Great auditoriums/theatres. There are bag checks on each entrance. There is a maximum bag size in the auditoriums. The box office is on the ground floor by the river. There is a nice cafe on the ground level and lots of seating throughout. It also has balconies and a bar on each floor.

Loved the show I attended, "Small Island. " The auditorium was of course grand with lots of elbow room. My partner and I prior to the show visited the exhibition of books on display and bought a programme for the show. We also bought drinks in the bar served by a very knowledgeable and interesting 🤔 barman. We travelled by train to London from Luton in under 40 minutes. Fantastic. With carpark fees of under a fiver and cheap rail fare it was an excellent evening. 👌

It's always nice experience. Air conditioned and cool. The building is a bit brutal but inside it's quite comfortable. All theatres are good size and not too big or small. Friday midday rush tickets from £10 is a bargain.

Some of their productions/shows are like marmite, but never a bad word or complaint can be said about the staff or venue or performances generally. Always top notch customer service and casting.
