Our
infant
had
surgery
here
as
an
inpatient-
whilst
we
were
extremely
happy
with
our
consultant,
the
in
patient
stay
was
a
rather
traumatic
experience
for
both
baby
and
mother
and
I’d
not
recommend
this
hospital
for
an
infant
procedure.
Due
to
Covid
regulations,
only
one
parent
was
allowed
and
since
our
baby
is
breastfed,
I
went
in
with
him
as
the
mother.
Initial
tests
and
appointments
had
been
great
so
we
didn’t
have
any
concerns.
The
day
started
with
loud
building
work
noises
that
made
the
room
vibrate,
when
my
2
month
old
son
was
released
from
surgery
with
several
tubes
sticking
out
of
him,
I
received
no
help
from
the
nurses
showing
me
how
to
care
for
him
with
his
condition.
I
had
to
pump
milk
as
I
couldn’t
feed
him
with
tubes
in,
and
had
to
have
a
crying
meltdown
for
a
nurse
to
finally
offer
to
hold
him
for
me
while
I
was
pumping
(he
was
screaming
in
pain
after
the
surgery
so
putting
him
down
was
not
an
option).
When
I
asked
for
new
flanges
for
the
breast
pump,
the
nurse
told
me
“just
so
you
know,
we
do
charge
for
these”
in
a
very
condescending
voice
as
if
I
didn’t
know
that
a
private
hospital
would
bill
me.
Dealing
with
a
screaming
newborn
with
tubes
sticking
out
of
him
and
trying
to
pump
every
2-3
hours,
I
asked
if
I
could
have
help
sterilising
the
hospital
pump
they
had
provided-
the
nurse
brought
a
steriliser
and
a
tablet
and
told
me
that
I
had
to
do
this
myself,
whilst
looking
at
me
holding
my
screaming
baby
and
pumping
at
the
same
time.
I
was
left
absolutely
speechless
and
traumatised
by
the
apathy
I
experienced.
The
highlight
was
then
when
the
night
nurse
randomly
insisted
I
feed
the
baby
every
2
hours
during
the
night
despite
my
consultant
having
said
no
such
thing
and
both
my
baby
and
I
being
exhausted.
She
continued
barging
into
the
room
to
wake
us
and
I
myself
had
less
than
two
hours
of
sleep
the
entire
night,
which
caused
my
milk
supply
to
drastically
drop
the
next
day,
not
producing
enough
milk
for
my
ill
child.
Luckily
my
son
was
doing
better
the
next
day
and
we
were
discharged
after
1
instead
of
the
planned
3
nights
and
able
to
recover
at
home.
A
traumatic
and
utterly
exhausting
experience
I
wish
on
nobody.
The
staff
did
not
seem
trained
in
caring
for
infant
patients
and
despite
having
the
time
(my
room
was
opposite
the
nurses
room
so
I
could
hear
them
chatting),
I
had
to
literally
cry
for
help
to
receive
any
support
with
my
sick
baby.
I
wasn’t
contacted
by
the
hospital
upon
sharing
my
experience
on
their
feedback
system.
