Went on Monday the 27th Jan, I have a “live it” membership and have already been to a considerable amount of The Gym branches across central london, Liverpool and Manchester, none of them got me more disappointed than this one in Battersea, after 10 mins warning up one member of staff approached me and requested me to “leave my backpack on the lockers” I explained him it was not a back pack and that instead it was my equipment sack, where I carry my towel, resistance bands, lifting belt and water bottle. The person insisted, that no bags at all were allowed on the gym floor, which surprised me because of all the gyms I’ve been I’ve never been requested such a thing. Most long term lifters usually carry these type of bags when in the gym, these are compact, handy and actually avoid the mess of having different amount of personal equipment spread on the gym floor. Despite of explaining this to him he insisted and blamed a very “exigent” manager. Because of this my regular Monday 45 min full body workout ended up being 1,5h workout because every-time I needed my equipment I had to go to the changing room. I understand this branch is relatively new, but you cannot pretend to have a consistent base of serious clients that are power lifters of body builders if this unreasonable rule is pretended to be enforced in such an inflexible way. There’s a clear difference between an equipment sack and a regular backpack.

Friendly, clean and great place to go work out. Equipments always clean and atmosphere is great to work out. Great staff who always there to help out. The personal trainer ( Gabiel ) was very friendly and professional and on my first day showd me around and gave me some great help and advise and very grateful and appreciated as it motivated to continue gym again and work on my dream body. His amazing. Thanks

This place is a waste of time, wasted two days of mine, I joined yesterday and the pin code they gave me does not work. I called them as well and they said it fine, it will work. But it does not work.

Just had my jacket stolen from the changing rooms there today. Thieves are operating at this gym so be careful.

Not sure how people managed to miss the fact that this was under construction until 2020.. but there you are.. some tools are sharper than others. Location great. Gym huge. First gym I’ve been to which actually prioritises comfort over as many machines as possible. Brand new. 24/7. Secure. I’d request getting 3G transmitted down to the gym.. some of us need to know when calls are coming through. Very big selection of machines.

I have joined the Gym Battersea in August 2021. After had a year I can honestly say - best gym ever. It is open 24/7. I like to mix my trainings. It is a perfect place to do it - lots of space and equipment, various classes. My favourite ones are thought by Carlos and Silvia. They put a lot of effort. - knowing our names and giving a lot of feedback regarding technique. The team was keeping top cleaning standards in pandemic. The team is just amazing - always supportive, happy to help and friendly. I feel like a member of community when I am there. The new manager Aron i making sure that customers needs are met. Big well done Team!

The range of equipment in the gym is outstanding for the price. Clean and well staffed during the day. 4* gym but 5* when you factor price. 2 weightlifting platforms, 4 squat racks, 2 smith machines, 10+ benches with 2 full sets of dumbbells, 4-5 cable machines and more. Huge variety of cardio machines including a ski erg. Various resistance machines and space for bodyweight work. They lose a star for the fact their marketing over the last 2+ years. This gym appeared open on google maps for the last 2 years, only being labelled as "opening soon" when you dug around. They even had the cheek to ask members to sign up on a monthly subscription starting 2+ YEARS AGO, before it even opened.

No wifi (very week and difficult to connect), no phone signal as it is in a basement. Equipment is good but not enough clearly at rush hour. A lot of space, so lack of space is not a reason for so few equipment! If you can go to other, I strongly advise you to do so as this one is not worth it!! I am rating as 1 star, because there is no option to rate it with 0

My local gym. Can't eat the price if you're after just a budget gym with machines, free weights and cardio areas. The equipment is new and well maintained. However, probably not ideal if you want the gym membership for classes, can get busy on certain weekdays after work, and the pin access cattle trap entrance is not for the claustrophobic. Conveniently situated about 5 minutes walk from Queenstown road train station and open 24/7 as well.

Great gym for the price. Clean and spacious. Equipment in good shape. True 24hr. Wifi is hit or miss and there is no signal inside as it is underground.

They'll randomly block your membership for something as petty as forgetting to put back weights without notifying you. Pure gym has 24hour staff available

Not a bad gym and decent value. But recently the rebrand was lazy. Closing the gym for 2 days to "refresh" (and rebrand) only to find a couple of new signs and no other notable improvements is definitely a let down. Wifi is also patchy. Proper refurb maybe needed soon.

Spacious gym, and really good equipment. Good free weights, racks, the lot! Pretty much has all the gear you might need. Great location for me too. Loses out on a star as there's no phone signal in the gym (only WiFi) and 90% of the cardio is facing the wall, usually a mirror. Great if you're part of the insta crowd. Not so great if you're a fat b****** like me. Change it around The Gym wandsworth- Would be good to have humans to occasionally look at when going for the burn not some Elizabethean Enchantment of Mirrors show.

Good gym by London standards, but a few annoyances: 1. Their wifi is abysmal 2. When there's a class on, they blast music in the entire area, very distracting and bothersome even if you do have great noise-cancelling headphones 3. There simply aren't enough squat racks and smith machines. This is made worse by gym-goers who misuse the squat racks for exercises that don't require it at all

I would like to say that my experience in the battersea gym group was a wholesome place , the staff in general but there is one person who stood out from the rest and his name is Gabriel. The way he conducts himself and others members in the gym is very professional and structured. Anytime I needed help or there was a problem in the gym Gabriel is the first person I’d go.

DO NOT EVER GIVE YOUR CARD DETAILS TO THESE DISGUSTING SCAMMERS. We know you got broke, we all did with COVID. But when i cancel my subscription on January, you dont get to withdraw from my account in June claiming that its okay because i was already subscribed before covid? Plain robbery. I called the day before as it was pending and was told it will not be withdrawed, the next day the moneys gone and customer services say theres nothing to do about it. Absolute thieves and will NEVER, EVER, use them again. Beware of giving them your card.

By far the best gym in Southwest London. The facility is very clean, knowledgeable and friendly staff with a plethora of high end equipment. Definitely worth checking out!

HORRENDOUS DUST/DIRT ON SOME RACKS - SEE VIDEO. Not a bad gym loads equipment, loads of space. No groups of meatheads or alpha male screaming. Lots of friendly people. Very respectful, huge diversity of ways to work out. Only show me it's deep down in a basement about five stories down. Other than that would highly recommend one thing though. Watch out for the dust on some of the equipment!!

Decent gym with a good range of equipment all on one floor. Negatives: it’s deep in the basement of a residential building so don’t expect any phone network and always issues with pin not working. It’s been almost 2 weeks since I got my pin and it has not worked once, staff don’t know what to do and tell me to keep calling customer services who tell me it’s activated and should work!!!! Having spoken to many other members, seems I am not the only one with pin issues.

Very nice gym and staff. However, there are definitely missing some “girl” classes. There’s only one class of 30 min per week that is flexi stretch. Everything is body conditioning and hiit, whereas in other the gym groups there are Pilates, yoga etc. please consider including more classes like this

I really enjoy The Gym in Battersea I’m in my late 20s and it’s a similar age group for people in the gym. It’s in a basement so there so no natural light which is the only thing I’m not a fan of.

Great space, clean, accessible, with lots of equipment, machines, for all fitness fans from iron pumpers, to crossfit fanatics, cardio enthusiasts and spinning fans, all the way to Martial art hardenned fright trains like me, oh and for those who love being directed, there are classes and skilled trainers to help you set on your path to better quality life. Lots of places to stretch, water fountains and electrolyte machine. Overall great facilities with showers, toilets (every squat counts) and clean changing rooms. BTW like every gym, avoid peak times if you can help it. Queueing for equipment is normal at peak hours, use the app to see the filled capacity in the gym. I don't understand the complaints of other reviews around here. Plan better if you don't like waiting on equipment or adjust your work out routine accordingly. :)

Best value gym in SW London. Cool temperature, great machines and nice and spacious. Far exceeds the offering of fitness first and virgin active which I’ve tried too, for a fraction of the price. Recommend.

  • 1/5 Hello 1 year ago on Google
Their marketing strategy makes no sense! Every few months they spam my email with deals. Today's one is 4 months for £20+ no joining fee-(apparently it's their bday). The reason I cancelled my membership is because there is no phone signal, the gym is in basement of a fancy apartment building. For personal reasons, I need to be reachable at all times- Non negotiable! Dear gym group Battersea, how about you investigate in this issue properly and resolve the matter?! By listening to customer, doing surveys and analysing data etc. To customers: Weak WiFi, and no phone signal. No private space to do fitness classes. High turnover of gym managers.

It is a dungeon not good at all. It is not -1 underground it is further down away from sunshine and fresh air and the internet services although they said online is provided but it does not work at all and if you want to use your own connection or 4g you can’t as your are buried further down in a dungeon. I was disconnected and when I left to real life on earth surface I got missed calls and text messages worrying about me. If we just been informed in advance and the details online were honest we would be prepared

I’ve been coming to the Battersea gym group for over a year now, and I am really enjoying it. The place is always kept clean and the kit and equipment always in top form. The staff who work there are great. One guy who stands out for me personally is Aaron L. He is very friendly and always on hand to help and give advice not just with myself, but for other gym goers also.

Great gym lots of great classes! There is a decent variety as well.. lower body, legs bums and tums, hyrox (it’s new), body conditioning and stretching. Gabriel does a really hard class and they all tailor classes to your needs. The classes are also at good times that work with my work schedule. I just wish there was more than a stretching class on a Thursday morning or even at lunch.

Fantastic gym. It's so close to being the ultimate workout package, but then there's the one serious bottleneck - The bench presses. In a gym that has over 200 capacity, there's only two bench presses. Man, every single time there's people queueing up, hanging around waiting for the next person to finish, asking how many sets you have left, getting frustrated with each other. I always spend 10-15 minutes of my session walking back and forth to check if they're free or waiting for a turn. I've even had a conversation with 3-4 others (while queueing up at the bench presses) who also couldn't understand why there's only two. We've decided to all send emails to the Gym group customer service. Unfortunately a few weeks have passed now and it doesn't look like they're batting an eyelid. I can't explain just what a massive pity this is. I love this gym. I think they nailed absolutely everything, apart from this one thing, something so easily fixable, yet it ruins the whole experience. Like any guy who's looking to build muscle, bench press is a major part of my routine, so I'll have to start looking for another gym unfortunately.

The Gym in Battersea is nestled away, due to its location it doesn't seem to be as busy as other sites in the Capital which means from a workout perspective you have more space and can be more efficient with your time. Equipment is generous although only one Ski Fit machine seems to be present, while not necessary an issue due to the currently low attachment at the club it might be in the future. Other things to note is that the gym has plenty of space for bench workouts, and even bars for squatting. Ceiling height is excellent so you can get plenty of range from military presses and muscle ups.

A good budget gym with a wide range of equipment, ranging from machines to free weights, kettlebells and plate loaded machines. It's pretty spacious for a London gym and doesn't have an obscenely oversized cardio area with the machines and equipment all being brand new. The price is great and cheaper than a lot of other gyms around the area, but it isn't without issues. The wifi is pretty poor when there's more than a handful of people using the gym, the shower facilities aren't pleasant, the QR code entry doesn't work and due to COVID there's a massive shortage in lockers. That being said, given that it's more than half the price of the cheapest Virgin Active gym subscription, while having significantly more equipment, I'm happy with it.

  • 3/5 R L. 3 years ago on Google
Spacious and clean, however is underground and the “free wifi” works 1 out of 5 days. Came back after lockdown at 7am In a rush to train before going to work, then your wifi don't work, cant put online music, have to go outside to open my training plan app, come back in... the wifi is on but doesn't work again and end up leaving all frustrated.

Good equipment and plenty of space so good for the social distancing. However in such a large space there were maybe 2 sanitising stations so spent 50% of the time looking for/walking back and forth to these.

Nice big gym.but mo WiFi reception. It doesnt work and there is no signal as its underground. The air can be pretty thick and smelly in there when it's busy and it definitely needs more ventilation. Limited number of cross trainers even without covid restrictions and only one stepper. Ab machine was removed now there are none at all and I like using it as I can't do crunches. Where is the ab machine? Never that busy in the day so always plenty of machines but avoid last couple of hours closing time as all the men rush in to use gym before it closes Plenty of weights and leg and arm machine and floor space Not much locker space due to social distancing so preferably dont bring too much with you in case you can't lock it away Staff are friendly but sometimes are over familiar with some of their female friends in there and stand about chatting. Not many people wipe down machines after use

Since it's fairly new there isn't that many people who go. Also, has a huge range of equipment and machines to use so you usually get whatever you need. The fact it is new and clean is also a plus. Can't fault it so far.
