(Please put your rubbish in the bin when you visit Margate beach. It shouldn't be so hard to keep clean your back. Even though local people clean up after you every day, they may not be quick enough to keep the garbage from spreading into the ocean. That's not fair for local people, for the future, for the world.) What a beautiful place you are Margate. The beach is wonderful, the ocean is beautiful. You can watch a mesmerizing sunrise by the stairs. I know have so many seaweed in the edge of the sea but if you walk a bit inside the sea, most of the time especially in the morning that you can have swimming experience as the Mediterranean. People are unbelievably friendly and happy. What have along the beach side: Fish and chips takeaway, fish restaurants, pizza restaurants, Turkish food & meze restaurants, cocktail bars, LGBT clubs and pubs, Turner contemporary art gallery and more things.

Lovely beach to spend time with family, kids really enjoyed the soft sand, nice places where you can eat and drink but the only problem are the toilets, dirty and disgusting, busy all the time.

Stunning coastal walk from Maragate out to Botany Bay. Two beaches with life guards there are busy but very safe. These pictures are from a walk between both busy beaches. Great vibe around the place snd clean. Fantastic for dog walks

I've lived here most my life, but I never normally went to the beach except for in summer. Every morning while I'm walking to the train station I capture beautiful sunrises and walk to my home after school are very pretty sunsets.

Sandy beach. Quite small but good spot for family picnics. Public toilets are little bit far away but nice and clean I found compared to all other sea beaches I visited.

I went to Margate for the first time on July 27th, for Tom Jones's concert at Dreamland. The encounter with the city was a shock to us; we were expecting a charming resort, but instead, we found a poor town filled with kitsch, and the center was crowded with gambling machines, like a depressed Las Vegas, with dirty streets and lots of garbage. The central beach is somewhat okay, but even it looks somewhat impoverished. It continues to the right, towards the yacht club, with a beach that smells terribly of algae, making it impossible to breathe, and the walk around there is compromised. I absolutely do not recommend visiting this city; you will waste your money and time.

We were pleasantly surprised by this beach with fine sand and an important aspect: the beach is very clean, you don't see any packaging or bottles on the sand. We had a great time and luckily for us, it was really deserted in the evening, although it was quite nice outside , we plan to come back, because the children really liked it.

Spent a couple of hours in the area on a sunny day - sandy shoreline invites relaxation. The beach itself holds promise for endless hours of enjoyment. Yet, the overpowering smell, attributed to algae, is hard to ignore; an unusual experience compared to my beach explorations worldwide. Turner Contemporary and a few modern cafes/restaurants add charm, but the area's potential hinges on substantial investment. Beach cleanup should be the starting point. Convenient parking at Arlington Car Park Dreamland (RingGo 21608), while the unattractive side needs attention. Train station's a 5-minute jaunt, and beating the midday rush during kids holidays ensures prime beach spots. Head beyond Turner Contemporary for lovely sea views. A return hinges on reports of the smell being resolved via a thorough beach cleanup. Funfair's a bonus. Once a filming location for one episode of the great Only Fools and Horses in 1989, a push to modern standards is overdue.

The beach it self is lovely. Unfortunately, the people that visit it are very disrespectful, I saw so much rubbish including towels, dirty diapers, plastic bags etc… it’s a shame that people don’t respect the environment.

First time in Margate and we will be back as we want to explore of the food places. It was a mild February day and we still managed to have ice-cream on the beach. The beach was relatively clean just the odd cider bottle here and there. It wasn't too busy but can imagine in the summer it being completely rammed. We took the kids to the arcade but had to constantly ask the staff to sort the machines as they weren't paying out tickets. The kids still had fun. The art deco architecture is stunning but it's a shame like so many other seaside towns that many of the beautiful building stand empty and in need of investment, restoration and love.

It's a lovely beach. I visited in an off peak season, so it was really quiet. However, I can see in the peak time in summer it would be very busy and become a big seaside resort. For the time I visited it though, I thought it was beautiful. It was so calming, great place for dogs - good parking (bit expensive but you expect that with it being a beach) So I would definitely go again, but probably not during peak time in summer! Also the statue is really cool, worth reading up on!

Worth a drive. Plenty of space to run around and enjoy it. Great for kids. Kite running has never been so much fun. Nice to deep your toes in the sea too. Very close to Turner gallery and plenty of facilities nearby like ice-cream or coffee. Stay for sunset.

Nice sand beach close to London. Direct train from London Victoria to margate. Water was not clear though, lot of sea weeds. But it was fun day out. There is a pool area as well which was the worst part of the beach.

I’ve been wanting to visit a sandy beach for so long, Margate is a gem. There was a lot of algae though - which wasn’t a problem for me but can bother some people.

πŸ‘πŸ‘ Love this place. Plenty of on street free parking, good access down a slope to the dog friendly beach(all year round). There's a small cafe. You can walk to Broadstairs and Ramsgate easily asking the beach.... As long as the tide is out! Lovely cliffs all along both routes.

πŸ‘πŸ‘ Great safe beach, loads of beach huts & beach cafe, toilets are a trek up a many stairs at the top of the cliff. These are all shut through the winter & the beach huts are all removed. The winter months the beach is mainly used by dog walkers (dogs not allowed between 10am & 6pm in the summer)

πŸ‘πŸ‘ Known locally as The Artificial Beach, this used to have beach huts and other facilities back in the days before they built the new road to the port. The sand, I believe originally dredged from the English Channel, is gradually being washed away, exposing chalk rock pools at low tide. There's still...
