Love this place. Plenty of on street free parking, good access down a slope to the dog friendly beach(all year round). There's a small cafe. You can walk to Broadstairs and Ramsgate easily asking the beach.... As long as the tide is out! Lovely cliffs all along both routes.

I love Dumpton Gap. It is a great place for beach walking with my Jack Russell terrier. It is a non-restricted beach and so those walks can happen all year round, depending of course on tides. It is a very clean beach in comparison to Viking Bay in Broadstairs, which in the busy season can be covered in family litter!

Absolutely beautiful beach where dogs are allowed off lead at any time. Broadstairs is nearby (about a 15 minute walk) and I believe Ramsgate is about the same in the opposite direction. We had a good walk around the beach and rockpools then walked our dog along the promenade because dogs are not allowed at all on the beach at Broadstairs between May and the end of September. There is plenty of free on street parking at Dumpton Gap. Check the tide times before going - we had been warned that the tide comes right in during high tide.

A beautiful and quiet little beach away from the madness of Broadstairs etc. Great rock pools when the tide is out. However be aware that it’s very popular with dog owners, especially the kind who assume everyone loves dogs so nobody could possibly mind them being up in your face and rooting around your stuff. If you’re not a fan of dogs and/or have little kids who are nervous of them then maybe avoid.

Really lovely beach, a lot quieter than Viking Bay. A fascinatingly large amount of seaweed is here, and builds up en mass in sections which, from over the top, look like a satellite view of a river running through a rainforest. The only gripe I have is how rocky it is, particularly when going in the ocean - you will experience sharp rocks, and they will hurt. I ended up wearing my sandals in the ocean, which survived and did prevent pain. Highly recommended some form of padded aquatic shoes.

This beach is getting sandier every year as the original cliffs erode. It has some great rock pools to explore as well. The sea does come almost right the way up here so check the tides. Free parking is easy at the top but the path down to the beach is rather steep. There Is a popular cafe here as well. The public restrooms are only open in the main season and even then should be regarded as 'emergency use only'. The nearest all season toilets are now in Ramsgate, before the harbour starts, or in Broadstairs just before the harbour wall. The walk along the promenade or cliffs to Broadstairs is great . You can also walk to Ramsgate along the beach but there is no continual promenade so do check the tides.

Wasn't sure what to expect with our trip today but thoroughly enjoyed our little visit. Basic cafe which served a decent enough jacket potato and salad. Toilets were clean and average and the beach is a very pleasant sand one, quiet despite it being half term. Dog friendly and safe.

A beautiful sandy beach with interesting little rocks further along. I went to photograph these when the tide was out and the sun low. Be aware the sun sets on the beach about an hour before the published time, due to the height of the cliffs. It is a shame the public toilet never seems to be open any more.

Lovely sandy beach to take the dogs for a walk. There’s a cafe which is open and the toilets are relatively clean. Worth the long drive if you’re coming from far

A great beach that's dog-friendly all year round. Although plenty of people go walking there; it doesn't get as busy as the other main beaches in the area.

Great place to visit. On road parking nearby is free. Then a slope passed the public toilets (which were ok) and you are greeted with a picturesque sandy beach. Our friends brought their dogs who had a lovely time. After our strole we then went back to the little cafe where decent coffee was served. We will be returning!

This is one of the best dog friendly beaches in the Isle of Thanet. Near Broadstairs with plenty of free parking. Toilets and a cafe right on the beach. Steep slope to the beach if planning on taking stuff with you, you have a climb back up. Make sure that you check high tide 🌊 times of you'll be cut off.

What a seriously pretty place, secretly hidden just between Broadstairs and Ramsgate. If you need an escape, come here by yourself and spend an hour watching the waves.

Another great place to take the kids on warmer days but please if your driving into the area by car please be mindful of where you park. Ambulances can not get to the shore if things go wrong and bus access is difficult

Love this quiet bay. Not great for swimming because of the rocks but good for rock pooling and watching the waves. Also a lovely walk round to viking bay.

πŸ‘πŸ‘ Great safe beach, loads of beach huts & beach cafe, toilets are a trek up a many stairs at the top of the cliff. These are all shut through the winter & the beach huts are all removed. The winter months the beach is mainly used by dog walkers (dogs not allowed between 10am & 6pm in the summer)

πŸ‘πŸ‘ Known locally as The Artificial Beach, this used to have beach huts and other facilities back in the days before they built the new road to the port. The sand, I believe originally dredged from the English Channel, is gradually being washed away, exposing chalk rock pools at low tide. There's still...
