This beautiful pagoda was presented by Nichidatsu Fuji. The construction finished in 1985. The view from its upper floor is magnificent. Facing north is the Thames River and on the opposite side is Battersea Park. The golden statue of Buddha is impressive. It is a recommended stop when visiting the park.

Take a seat on the bench with flowers across from Buddha, feel the cool river breeze on your cheeks and the smell of the flowers and park fill your nostrils. Inhale deeply, exhale slowly. Peace. 🧘🏼‍♂️☮️

A tranquil place within Battersea park next to the river. An impressive pagoda emersed in greenery, offering views of the river and Prince Albert Bridge. Lots of seating benches, on a clean paved walk, to rest. Worth a visit if in the area. From here you can walk to Chelsey or to Battersea power station area. Excellent spot to visit on a day out.

This is from the Buddhist movement in Japan that is building, donating and erecting these peace pagodas worldwide. You clime some steps to see four 4 golden statues (one on each side) each from a phase of the Buddha's life. Great views of Battersea Park and the Thames River.

What a nice park. The budha is amazing and well worth a visit. Its right on the river and in a great spot for walking and exploring. There are many signs of people etching there names on it which is disappointing.

Stumbled upon this beautiful structure while wandering around Battersea Park. As the name states- this pagoda is in honor of a Buddhist monks advocacy for non-violence and peace. Take a moment out of your day to view and reflect on this stüpa.

The Peace Pagoda in Battersea Parks was presented to Londoners by the Venerable Nichidatsu Fuji in 1984. After the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, he pledged to build pagodas worldwide as shrines to peace. The Battersea pagoda was constructed by nuns, monks and other followers of the Nipponzan Myohoji sect. The pagoda has series of gilt-bronze statues which represent the most significant stages of Buddha’s life.

A beautiful pagoda located along the river. It is a really peaceful and quiet place that allows for reflection. A truly amazing structure to find in the middle of London.

Battersea park is such a wonderful and great open space in South West London. Close to Chelsea, Battersea power station, and right next to the Thames. It's full of flora and fauna. Sports facilities. Lakes. Cafe. Coffee kiosks. Kids play areas. Perfect for picnics, fitness and exploring.

Nice peaceful little pagoda nestled in Battersea park along the river. Nothing going on when we went but I hear they have some nice little events sometimes.

If your looking of somewhere peaceful and tranquil then I’d throughly recommend the London Peace Pagoda in Battersea Park. The London Peace Pagoda built in 1985 dedicated to peace, containing statues representing the 4 different phases of the Buddha's life. Also featured in a few movies including ‘Magic Mike - The Last Dance’. Although it’s free to visit, keep in mind that access is from 6:30am till 10:30pm.

I visited here to see the structure. The whole surroundings are beautiful, peaceful, and tranguil. On route to the Pagoda, there is a fountain that I admired due to its structure. A lot of thought went into this place, and it's worthwhile visiting. Battersea Park also has an old English garden... This really took me back in time when my parents used to take us here as children

Calming oasis inside Battersea Park about 5 minutes walk from the South end of Albert Bridge. Accessibility is limited due to stairs leading to the Pagoda though detail is viewable from ground level. Plenty of seating nearby, toilet facilities also nearby too.

This place will never not be amazing/astounding. Battersea Park is gorgeous and having this beautiful structure stand tall in its full glory is definitely a sight to see. Rain or shine, it’s a moment to behold, and you can take some gorgeous pictures from this point across the canal and onto the bridges on either side. Highly recommend a stroll through this area of the park.

No guns or bombs or heavily armed whoevers, so I'll say this was peaceful, yes.

The grief of the unenlightened followers, set against a similar blue spring sky to that over Battersea today

  • 5/5 Marian C. 1 year ago on Google
I don’t have any photos but the monument is stunning and if you’re in to spiritual things you’ll have the feeling the place it’s somehow surrounded by peace and the fact that it’s in the middle of the park it’s even nicer; the river flowing on the side and all the green space… lovely place to visit.
