I asked if there was a vegetarian moi moi and the lady I spoke to said yes, I saw the menu while waiting and saw the options were with meat, with fish, or with egg so obviously was reassured that I would get the one with egg. The order was for take away. After taking it away, when opened I discovered it contained fish so was very disappointed. Since becoming vegetarian I occasionally crave moi moi and thought I had finally found one I could indulge in only to realise I had been misled by the staff. That's a very horrible thing to do.

The food was absolutely amazing💕 The staff are so nice and welcoming. Great prices definitely worth it🍹🍹🍹🥰 my son absolutely loved the whole experience. I went back a second time and it was nothing like the first time, because I ordered it on a deal the portions were much smaller than the first time, The cooks had changed, and the owner was a lot more unpleasant. Which was a shame because I went there for my sons birthday and took a friend. The two of them was not impressed at all. So I regretted going there for the second time and would not be going there again. I travelled all the way from East London

Tasty food and generous portions. Everyone raves about the jumbo wings - from the picture it’s clear to see why!

My partner and I went for dinner, he had cassava leaf stew with plain rice and it was sublime. Myself had jollof rice with fry fish….. did I mention we had pepper soup with cassava and that for me was a PLUS it was sooo good. Bankie customer service was amazing too. Be sure to have a visit and indulge in the Sierra Leone cuisine.

Excellent blend of West African cuisine, particularly those looking to try Sierra Leonean, Nigerian, Ivorian and Ghanaian dishes in London. 🇸🇱🇳🇬🇮🇪🇬🇭 Mr Jones and the Calabash team are very friendly, hospitable and polite hosts who definitely take care of you whatever the occasion.😃👌🏽💯 Clean, comfy seating space, well-conditioned and within close proximity of both Greenwich's archaic sites and the 02 arena. Great prices and value for food dishes - celebrated my Mum's birthday dinner outing there and did not regret at all! Highly recommended!😋

Such a great restaurant. The food was so fresh and came out immediately it was prepared so everything was nice and hot. Our server was very attentive as well. My favorite items on the menu were the jumbo spicy wings with a side of fried yam and plantain. The rice akara was also interesting (kind of a cross between plantain mosa and puff puff) so I’d recommend that too.

I went my own for dinner, wasn't sure where to eat and whilst walking to check if Tesco was open, I came across The Calabash, and instinct walked me in on the look out for a fish or vegetarian dinner. Wow!! I order the Fried fish with deep cut chips & salad, wow just wow! That fish was huuuuuge! Like a Mummy of a Mummy!lol As I said, finally I ate a real big fish, that tasted lovely & had to order another round of extra sauce, as was soooo delicious, I put everything into it, fish, chips, salad, all on the go! :) The magic comes from the Master Chef Ladies, with the magic hands & lovely smile, and fresh ingriedents, felt like was Mamma cooking super tasty dinner, and felt cosy and homely. The boys making sure everything is good, and you all happy, satisfy & taking care of, it made the end of my weekend just perfect! I couldn't have asked for more. Superb experience, and if you haven't been to The Calabash yet, I can tell you...you missing out! :)

Warm atmosphere, lovely staff and great food. Me and the girlfriend have been a few times already! Highly recommend for those who haven’t tried African food already and awesome to see more diversity in food for the area.

Some of the most delicious food I've eaten, maybe ever. My only regret is getting full too early and not being able to order more food!! Highly recommend the okra and foofoo. Staff is so friendly, food is so bomb -- what's not to love? Everything was great. Highly recommend.

The food was delicious, we got the grilled fish, jollof, plantain and jumbo wings. Would highly recommend all. I collected a takeaway and as the restaurant was shut for eat in because of tier 3, I was able to talk to the owner and staff who were the friendliest people. I can’t wait to be able to come here for a meal when we are out of tier 3 and will be ordering again very soon. Thank you! The best food!

I have been to this restaurant a few times, this is the first time sitting in. Calabash serve numerous dishes from west African countries. The starters are expensive, Turkey tail £7. The main dish potato leaves from Sierra Leone was delicious. I also got the natural ginger juice delicious! Our waiter was nice, be expected to wait 30 mins for the main food. Aside from this I recommend.

When we arrived we had to wait a bit before finally being greeted and seated. The rice balls were nice, very tiny though. I had the cassava leaves soup with pounded yam. It wasn't that great, I just ate it because I was hungry. The pounded yam was nice though, with a nice texture. My Sierra Leonean friend said they skimped on the cassava leaves and that it tasted more like peanut soup. Imagine, he asked for boiled yam and they gave him fried yam instead! There was plastic bits in my wife's crain crain. The homemade ginger beer was decent, very fiery. Even though the waiter poured it out from what I think was a 500ml bottle into a glass in front of me, they charged me for a jug. This was not amended when I brought it to their attention when paying. We were disappointed with the whole experience and found it.a bit cheeky when the woman (the cook I think) told us to spread the word to others about the restaurant. They did apologise for the aforementioned issues but should also have made the necessary amendments such as giving us what we ordered and!/or taking money off the bill

I definitely not recommend it. We order two kebab and we wait for more than 30 minutes the restaurant was empty. We asked for no spicy, I was very clear with this because I cannot eat spicy food and the man say ok. When the food arrives was super spicy, poor meet, and poor salad. Terrible experience.

I visited today with my family for the first time . We sat for 10m no one came to tk our order so I waved at the bar tender (Rasta guy) he looked at me n walked away, so my husband went to him n placed the order, it took 45m for the food to arrive, taste of Jollof rice n beef stew is disappointing, the egusi n pounded yam was ok . Over all we didn’t feel welcome. The music is super loud n the place is very noisy Everyone is shouting whiles having conversation. We won’t be back again .

Really lovely staff and tasty food. This restaurant came highly recommended by my cousin, I haven’t eaten Sierra Leonean food in a long time. Everything was packaged and handled with care. I drove down from north London with my partner and we called ahead of time and they were really helpful on the phone, I will be happy todo it again. Thank you, Merry Christmas and God bless.

Food (once it arrived) was lovely - great portions, and background music, value for money. However, there was very little social distancing and they were clearly flaunting the current Covid 19 government guidelines. It’s like they tried to cram in as many people (table and chairs) as possible. People that were seated long after my mother and I arrived were served starters and mains before we did. Staff were friendly enough, but were clearly rushed off their feet and were not familiar with the menu as my mother has allergies. We had to bring it to their attention a number of times that we were still waiting for our orders to be taken and again for our food. We unnecessarily spent 3 hours at this restaurant due to poor service.
