The flavours are so intense that I've literally just left the restaurant and am already craving the sauces! We had wantons and an assortment of dumplings, all of which were amazing. The fried noodles and fried rice were both rich and served as lovely accompaniments to the Mapo Tofu and the Hot Pot, both of which packed a flavourful punch! The desserts were presented elegantly and were different to the standard dessert selections. The team were happy to customize some dishes to our liking and the service was quick and sensitive. Will definitely keep coming back!

How do you rate a place that is racist? A place I supported, during the pandemic, outright rejected offering a table today to have a quick bite. Simply because I was a brown man in shorts wearing flip flops? At first, I was seated after having repeated the request for a table to have a quick meal. (The staff member was genuinely confused if I was there to eat or looking for a job?) Then I was told the place was fully booked by 5 pm when nearly 95 % of the tables were unoccupied. Racism is the only conclusion I can arrive at because of that fact, the two Caucasian ladies who came after I was happily accommodated. When challenged "why?" the staff was awkwardly trying to "find a place." My loyalty and appetite had disappeared, and I was filled with extreme sadness that I would have to challenge a business to accommodate me. Having travelled the world over the last three decades, I have encountered racism throughout my entire life. However, I never thought I would be experiencing prejudice in my neighbourhood, Angel. London is full of other vegetarian & vegan options, so I would not spend another penny at this restaurant. I urge all people of decency to give this place a miss.

This place is really popular, so make sure to make a reservation! I had to book a table two weeks in advance, but it was worth it. Every dish was delicious and had a lot of flavors. I really enjoyed the sizzling tofu which had a slightly crispy skin, a very soft interior and an aromatic sauce. The battered "fish" was really flavorful, too! This restaurant is perfect for people who enjoy spicy, authentic and vegan Sichuan food.

Great food and definitely not lacking in flavour. We ordered 6 dishes between 3 of us. All the dishes were really good and very close to the meat versions. Portions are on the smaller side, so order more if you are hungry. It’s a bit pricey, but good. Will be coming back to try more dishes. Also make sure to book. It gets very busy!

Yummy Vegan food! The food taste authentic! Especially the dongbei potato noodle sheet! Also the crispy ‘fish’ is made of tofu and seaweed which tastes like the real fish! Definitely recommend it! The price is around £30 per person.

Food was stunning, I went in not having tried tofu and left craving it!! The wontons were the star of the show, I’m still thinking of them a day later. The staff were so excellent, attentive and kind. The service was impeccable and efficient. We ordered and started receiving dishes 10 mins after. 100% recommend!! (If you order the xiaolongbao don’t wait for it to cool down too long they’re much nicer warm!!) Between 5 people our bill came up to £108 xx

This was a really great find. Vegan Chinese cuisine! Every single dish was prepared to perfection and with really great flavours. Really good mapo tofu and other tofu dishes which were packed with flavours and spices. It was packed throughout the time we were there on the weekend but the staff were super attentive and helpful for those who could not eat spicy food. The restaurant truly deserves 5 stars.

This place was fantastic. I am a full on meat eater, but I went on a Friday night with my vegetarian/vegan friends, and all I can say is I'm shocked and so impressed. I will definitely be coming again. The service was excellent, while we chose a number of different dishes, the waitress made a few alternative suggestions based on flavours etc, so we trusted her and agreed, best decision ever! The Fisc was unbelievably real tasting and really well paired with the bao buns. The silken spicy tofu was delicious. And generally everything else was perfect. Highly recommended for vegan and non vegans alike!

Honestly if I could give it 6 stars I would. It’s my favourite place in London to eat. So so delicious, freshly made, rapid service. Everything I’ve ordered here before has been impeccable and I’ve ordered a lot. Smacked cucumbers are unmissable Also the spicy dumplings, the salt and pepper oyster mushrooms and the Peking duck…. It’s a little more expensive but it’s 100% worth it. If I could afford to eat here every day I would.

I loved everything we ordered. Wonton, "fisc" aubergines in buns, Kimchi chik'n and tofu stew, fried oyster mushrooms... Everything on the menu is vegan and delicious. Service was fast and efficient. A must try! Just be ready to spend more than usual for a Chinese restaurant in London...!

4 of us have been wanting to come her for dinner for a while and it did not disappoint! We ordered various items to share, and the staff were great at giving suggestions on items to balance the meal by having different flavours and textures, for example, we were over ordering on sweet items and they recommended the twice cooked 'fish', which was probably one of our favourite dishes. Other favourite dishes of ours were the salt & pepper king oyster mushroom; wontons in house special sauce and the silken tofu in savoury sauce. Chicken in chilli oil dressing I'd probably give a miss.

Top location, attentive service, simple but trendy decor and outstanding food! The cucumber salad is one of my favourite dish, the special sauce is unbelievably good! The spicy dumplings very tasty and handmade, tasty noodles and crispy fried “fish” reminding me a lot taste of mackerel. Will definitely get back to try the rest of the menu! Price for 2 people with 5 sharing dishes and 2 drinks £61.70. Very generous portions

Great experience, above expectations! The staff is very friendly and recommended us the "fisc" which was great! We also tried the mushrooms and a selection of dumplings, which were delicious. Overall fantastic lunch, really recommended!

TLDR; good authentic northern Chinese dishes without the meat. Atmosphere is great but make sure you book in advance and prepare to pay a little more than most Chinese restaurants. With a name like Tofu Vegan, I expected the restaurant to be another trendy / hipster up start. However, I was very pleasantly surprised to find that this place is not only very good but also super authentic. The menu is full of northern Chinese dishes. The authentic kind with lots of spices and aromatics. The substitute of meat with various forms of tofu was done well too. This works perhaps because the menu has been carefully curated so that many of the dishes are not protein dominant. As soon as I walked in, I felt the authenticity of a good Chinese restaurant. From the lovely smell of the dishes to chatter of many tables, all combined with a subtly and classy decor. The only downside is that this place is incredible popular so getting a table without a booking is like the lottery. This popularity also means that they can get away with slightly higher prices which means it’s not a destination for the value hunters

This isn’t the first time we’ve been to Tofu Vegan. It has been a staple stop for us on our visits to London for the last year or so. I’ve been vegan for around 5 years now, and it was challenging finding Chinese restaurants that cater well for vegans. I missed having dim sum with my family and all the staples I enjoyed as a kid growing up. Thank goodness for Tofu Vegan existing because I don’t feel like I miss out on anything anymore. They have dim sum options, lots of dishes, including ho fun noodles which are my favourite! It’s easy to get to and the service is great. The staff are attentive and very helpful, always willing to provide recommendations. I highly recommend visiting Tofu Vegan if you really want to eat a truly authentic vegan Chinese meal.

We accidentally booked a restaurant nearby on the wrong date and decided to come here as a fallback. They only had the table for an hour. Service was quick (as it always is) and food was really tasty. I am always happy to return to Tofu Vegan, as staff are always friendly and food never disappoints. (Photos were taken halfway through eating, as it was good so we forgot to take photos)

Food, service and decor were all excellent. Everything is vegan, but not everything contains tofu, which was good for my friend who isn't a fan of soy. Felt like alot of care was put into each dish. An easy reccomendation to make!

Lovely food today my dad and I enjoyed it. The waiter made some great suggestions as the dishes were quite unique so I wasn't really sure what to get. Dim sum was lovely too!

This place was on our list for a while! Walked in on a Sunday afternoon and immediately got a table. The staff was helpful with recommending dishes and was kind. If you order a portion of rice per person you get unlimited refills. We liked the wontons in the house sauce but other than that the dishes lacked flavour and we felt like our experience didn't match the amazing reviews. The prices were on the higher end considering we left unsatisfied (we didn't want to order more since we didn't enjoy the food that much).

It’s not easy to find a vegetarian Chinese restaurant in London so I gave it a try. It feels authentic and the food is very tasty (if not a bit too salty and oily, as you can see in most reviewers’ photos, so not very healthy) and in small portion, therefore you may need to spend a bit more than in other Chinese restaurant. Overall it’s a quite busy restaurant with tasty food and good service, and I quite like their dessert, which you won’t find in other restaurants. But I may not visit often considering the cost and salt & oil intake.

Tofu Vegan Islington is a hidden gem for plant-based enthusiasts in the heart of Islington. Tofu Vegan Islington is a haven for vegans and non-vegans alike who appreciate delicious, plant-based cuisine. With its inviting ambiance, creative menu, and attentive service, this restaurant is a must-visit for anyone seeking a memorable vegan dining experience.

We ordered several dishes as a group of five. Unfortunately, not a great experience with the food. The dumplings were squishy, fragile and just fell apart on touch. The honey covered tofu was sickly sweet. The black bean tofu was ok. The cucumber noodle dish cannot be described in words. However, did enjoy the mock ‘chicken’ and tofu with the sauce and the wantons. Service was good. Too expensive for bland flavours unfortunately.

My favourite Vegan lunch spot! Tofu Vegan makes fresh, delicious and creative Vegan Chinese food. The staff are always welcoming and happy to help us choose from the many options available. The Wontons in house special sauce are spectacular, and the Dim Sum. Everything is though really, we have always had excellent meals here.

This is probably one of the best places I eat while I was staying in london. If you're looking for something vegetarian then this is the place you got to go to. It is unbelievable what they can do with your vegetarian cuisine. If you like Asian inspired meals you definitely got to visit this place. I don't know if it's all vegan. I believe it it is. I had a really big meal and loved every bit of it

Food was incredible, every dish was stunning. The twice-cooked ‘fisc’ is not to be missed! Also loved the wontons and the soup dumplings. Service was immaculate and very attentive. Taking off one star because they packed us onto a table that was meant for a smaller number of people even though we booked two weeks in advance.

Not being vegan, the name of this restaurant had always put me off a bit, but hearing good things from friends I’ve decided to try it. I was not disappointed! Despite having a group of 28 people next to us, we were served in no time and had excellent service. The food was delicious, the portions were generous and the price was fair. Will definitely be going back!

One of my favourite restaurants in London. Probably my favourite vegan restaurant. Been here a couple of times. Food is amazing, staff very friendly and knowledgeable. If you fancy some Chinese without the meat/chicken/fish, then this is the place to be. The fake fish in particular is fantastic. Mushroom dishes and dumplings are simply awesome. The only issue is I think I have to go a few more times to try everything on the menu. On top of that there is also the Golders Green branch that has some different items on their menu.

Amazing food, service and atmosphere. I have a lot of intolerances and they were so accommodating. There's a lot of choices too and the staff made great recommendations to make sure we got the best out of wide variety. Big enough portions to take some home too. Will definitely be going back!

Brilliant!! No lack of variety and choice of tofu based dishes. The silken tofu is made in house and all the better for it. I can't imagine even ardent carnivores not enjoying a meal here!!

Have you tried plant-based meat before? I love eating vegetarian meal in Asia because the plant-based meat made in Asia is very tasty and the texture is very close to real meat. In UK, I tried some of the local produced plant-based meats and found that the texture was too soft like eating peas or bean paste. So I rarely eat plant-based meat here. @tofuveganlondon is a planted-based Chinese restaurant in Islington just 8 mins away from Angel station. I went to have lunch with my friends on Sunday without booking. They were full of people and we had to waited for around 15 mins for a table. But it really deserved to wait🥰 WHAT WE HAD 🥟Wontons in house special sauce 🥟Soupy Xiao Long Bao 🐟Twice-cooked ‘fish’ 🐑Stir fried ‘lamb’ with cumin and chilli 🫓Stir fried tofu and reserved vege with steamed lotus leaf buns The ‘fish’ was added with a strip of seaweed to the edge of flattened plant based meat which I thought was beancurd. The seaweed provided a seashore kick and it’s really ‘fish’. It really surprised my meat lover hubby. I love Xinjiang lamb skewer with lots of cumin. The stir fried ‘lamb’ with cumin and chilli did really impress me. The texture of ‘lamb’ was soft and tender which was very close to the real lamb. Love the taste as texture. Absolutely amazing 😍 Stir fried tofu and reserved vege with steamed lotus leaf buns were awesome. They used black bean and chilli to stir fried tofu and Chinese pickles. The lotus leaf buns were soft and perfectly balanced with the fillings. How’s the wontons & xiao long bao? See my next post on Instagram @ccgyozalover for details🤗 All the dishes were amazing and flavourful. I can say even meat lovers will be impressed by the ‘meat’.
