Went up to the till to get a lottery ticket Two ladies at each till one aisan lady one black lady with glasses, I started to politely ask for a lottery ticket , before I could finish, the black lady mumbled something about the till not being open ! If it’s not open then don’t stand by it , plus try and smile and be more customer focused, either apologise or just open the till ! I had already bought stamps there earlier.

An excellent Clearance outlet which has reduced prices on paperbacks, children's accessories like learning tools and stationery. It is like a small warehouse with shelves and tables of clearance stock. Staff is available for assistance but it is like a clearance depot which lets you browse at leisure. Wheelchair accessible entrance and for mothers with prams.

Newsagents - clearance section now closed. Mostly good helpful staff - but for books prefer the Waterstones now as they have a better selection and books are in better condition

Great at selling things for school or work and it can sell much more like snacks books and gift cards! Quite quiet on any day which can be nice unless noisy young kids come! Overall it is a great place to buy work and school objects or just for a packet of crisps if you are hungry!

It's 9.12am now and the shop is still closed. Been waiting outside since 9am!! The lady just said she won't open because they have only 2 staff! Disgusting I will be reporting this

I purchased an item at full price for £55 in Gatwick airport- it was sold in the larger stores and online for the same. When I went to return the item I was told I could only get a £38 refund as i bought in in the airport? The item rang up as £38 as it’s now on sale, not because of where it was purchased. I was told to go to another travel store, go back to the Airport or call customer services. All the Croydon store has to do was alter the refund price to the price I paid.

⏰ 17:56 hrs at the self checkout machine and I have been told the store is closing 4 times in the last 4 mins before closure. And we wonder why the high street is not doing well.

Totally useless. You can buy food but not writing paper and envelopes. When I asked for these items, I was told by a member of their unhelpful staff, to go online.

Very expensive shop, everything is super overpriced, just a scrapbook costs 7 pound, but other than that the staff will always help you look for something and they have alot of things.

Nobody there , no boxes in stock , only accepting their boxes only strictly . Hire staff ……. Whats the point with nobody there and telling you to do it all strictly online . Unable to find your non existent packages . Terrible . 0 service

Following a few difficult days of attempting to utilise another well-known international courier service, the employees at WHSmith, (who also manage the DHL Express Service Point), made posting my documents very easy. They provided exceptional customer service and were incredibly helpful, thank you.

I arrived 8 mins before the Croydon store closes and it was already closed!

I always find the staff helpful here although they can be hard to find. It is a large store on two floors and it is very irritating that there is only one pay point on the ground floor.

I would to give 10 stars to Holly who was instrumental in sorting out my DHL and went above and beyond to make sure I get my request resolved. Great customer service and she deserves a merit reward, thank you.

The shop is far too big so half of the first floor is a huge clearance section full of weird items, overpriced stationery and out of date guidebooks. It seems like there's nothing so broken or out of date that they won't attempt to sell it. In the rest of the store, there's a good range of greetings cards, but they're expensive compared to other retailers. They've got lots of magazines. There's a decent range of stationery too, but you'll find it cheaper elsewhere. They have hardly any staff so they'll probably try to get you to use self checkout.

would not use their DHL service point again, my parcel was returned to me as the correct paperwork wasn't handed over to the driver and failed the custom inspection. Staff doesn't seem to be trained to send parcels outside the UK

Poor service, staff neither welcoming nor helpful. I had to go twice to collect an order because the person in charge did not bother to find my order and insisted it wasn't there in spite of the email I received.

I have always loved WHSmith and this branch has a clearance outlet so you get more choice.
