Found this little gem after performing a Google Maps search in my area for a "meatball sub!" I was looking for a place within biking distance with a great sub and not looking to break the bank. This place definitely got my business. The meatball sub for my daughter was great! She loved it! I got the meatloaf sub and I think it was better than her sandwich, but both are great! Nice place, good service, and great food at reasonable prices! We will definitely come back!

I really wanted to try Modica’s after hearing such good things but my experience was a huge letdown. The Italian pasta salad I ordered was $7 and the quality/portion did not justify the price. The cheese, pepperoni, salami and dressing were extremely bland. On the menu it says the salad comes with pepperoncini’s and roasted peppers but those were absent from my salad. I ordered the 16” meatball sandwich and had to pay an extra $4 for mozzarella. The best thing about that sandwich was the bread. The sauce was ok. The sandwich came with plenty of meatballs but the flavor was akin to frozen meatballs from the grocery store. The customer service was average at best. At this restaurant’s price point I’m not motivated to order from here again.

I had the Pastrami sandwich with provolone cheese as recommended by the young man who took our order. He was very helpful and knew the menu well. It was one of the best pastrami sandwiches Ive ever had. My wife had the combo sandwich which was good too. The counter clerk recommended bread type and toppings which are extremely helpful for first time visitors. Will definitely come back to visit this place and try more on the menu.

Good food for affordable prices in a beautiful setting. What more could anyone ask for? The staff was courteous and helpful. The service was fast. Definitely coming back here next time I'm in long Beach. Don't get me wrong, it isn't the best food I've ever eaten but it is definitely worth more than the asking price.

Modica's Deli located in the downtown community of Long Beach is a great find. We recently went by and were pleasantly surprised with a great deal on a lunch special. I proceeded to order it and it was yummy. There were other individuals enjoying a meatball sandwich. The portions are plentiful. Bring your appetite.

I typically don't order lasagna from restaurants because the portions usually leave you hungry or disappointed. Not here, I was pleasantly surprised.

I'd stick with the sandwiches. Spaghetti was fine. Worst garlic bread, don't bother. Nice side salad. Carrot cake was bomb except the icing was on the verge of boring. Loved all the walnuts in it.

New in town and thought this was a coffee shop. Stayed to try a new place by my home. Ordered the lobster ravioli. It was ok. Not bad, not great. What I didn’t like was the service. My waitress was cute and sweet but the hostess wasn’t the most pleasant at first. I ordered coffee and the pesto toast. She explained that they weren’t serving that to go. So I ordered ravioli but it just felt sort of awkward and confusing. Maybe it’s normal in Long Beach that restaurants serve breakfast lunch and dinner at different times etc. but I didn’t really get it. It didn’t feel like a sit down restaurant at all. I realized how important service is. I think food is important too but good service and a light positive attitude goes such a long way: The young blonde waitress was sweet and she kind of made up for the rest. It just didn’t have that warm and welcoming feel that I appreciate. It’s unfortunate because it’s in a nice location and close but I doubt I’ll be returning. I’ll probably go back to 4th street. The people seem much more friendly and open. It could have also been the time of day. Maybe they were just tired. Not sure but a bit disappointed. Looking forward to trying the coffee show next to it!

The food was good, I'd recommend the lobster ravioli, but when ordering wine they were out of three vintages listed on the menu. Somewhat dog friendly, and offers live music on the weekends (jazz and standards). It is located within walking distance to shops and not too far from the beach. The wait staff was pleasant and didn't really rush us until they were closing at end of night.

My GOD. This was my FAVORITE find of my Long Beach trip. Great for solo and for catering!! Across from the hotel, I stopped by to grab a sandwich before an event. Fast service and super fresh food. Great portions and wonderful flavor. So much so, I ordered 35 sandwiches for my team for lunch!! Woman owned and operated for 28 years, Orsa the owner was the cherry on top of the whole experience. Thank you Orsa & Crew!

The chai latte did not taste good, it was too milky and gross. The cappuccino was not very good and not well made. You can tell the cannolis and tiramisu are pre packaged. Mediocre. Disappointed for sure.

A great little restaurant in the heart of Long Beach. The food is fantastic, the ambiance is delightful (lovely outdoor seating), and the staff really make this place a great stop on your trip to long beach. I highly recommend the pastrami sandwich and a nice glass of red wine. A special thanks to staff members Tyler, Clarissa, Anthony, and momma Modica for making my last night in Long Beach my favorite night in LA. Ask for Anthony and tell him Mark sent ya. Enjoy.

Easily the best Pastrami sandwich in Southern California and I'm not kidding. I live, love, love Monica's. They have a big selection. My two favorite are their BLT, and of course their Pastrami sandwich. The bread is perfect and the sandwiches themselves are perfection! I also love their ziti/pesto salad. Just wonderful. The wait staff, the atmosphere and the deli itself all lend to a great place to go. Try it and you will love ❤️ it too!🙋‍♀️

Good! I had the French dip and it was decent and a nice sized portion (I got extra meat and extra cheese for fun) wish it was more flavorful but I’m not at all mad.

I was recently in Long Beach for a work trip and decided to check out the menu on my way back from a beach walk to the hotel. I ordered the “world famous pastrami” sandwich (as it was from the menu: cheese, mustard and pickles on fresh Italian bread) - delicious! NYC at the beach! By far the best pastrami sandwich I’ve EVER had and plan on ordering this again next time I’m here for work! Amazing!
