Our
check-in
experience
provided
by
the
check-in
staff
was
absolutely
unpleasant,
contradictive
to
what
I
would
expect
from
a
Marriott
hotel.
Let's
just
call
her
"Fran".
We
arrived
at
the
hotel
shortly
after
9
PM,
which
cannot
justify
Francisca's
decision
on
providing
a
"I
could
not
care
less"
attitude.
Some
specifics:
-
after
finding
my
reservation
in
her
computer,
Fran
said
“I
need
a
credit
card".
I
thought
the
credit
card
would
only
be
for
incidentals,
so
I
asked
to
confirm
"this
is
just
for
incidentals,
right?"
She
said
yes.
I
would
expect
a
qualified
staff
member
to
mention
the
incidental
when
asking
for
the
credit
card,
and
I
would
not
be
the
one
to
mention
it.
-
after
giving
us
the
room
key,
it
seems
that
Fran
just
expected
us
to
leave.
She
did
not
give
any
explanation
of
the
hotel’s
amenities,
such
as
the
location
&
hours
of
the
gym,
the
pool,
on
site
restaurant,
etc.
This
is
very
unusual,
since
every
other
Marriott
hotel
that
I
have
stayed,
including
those
just
for
one
night,
the
check-in
staff
always
made
sure
that
I
understood
the
amenities
that
I
was
getting
with
my
room
rates.
-
as
having
stayed
in
the
neighboring
Hilton
hotel
(Jamaica
Bay
Inn)
at
Marina
Del
Ray,
I
expect
that
hotels
around
the
marina
would
likely
provide
resort
perks
or
credits,
so
I
inquired
about
it.
I
asked
"are
there
any
complimentary
resort
services?",
Fran
replied
with
one
word
&
a
blunt
look
in
her
face,
"NO".
I
reiterated,
"as
a
hotel
at
the
marina,
don't
you
offer
daily
credits
for
beverages
or
food?",
again
we
got
a
blunt
"NO".
So
we
thought
okay.
But
at
the
check-out,
I
noticed
the
$10
destination
fee
charge
and
the
piece
of
paper
in
our
room
key
holder
listing
all
the
perks
that
were
included
within
the
$10
fee.
Clearly
the
fee
included
$10
food
and
beverage
credit,
which
we
could
have
enjoyed
at
the
hotel
bar
and
spent
more
on
drinks
&
tips
benefiting
the
hotel
restaurant
staff.
