First time today with friends in this park and I love it ! Easy to get there, plenty of parking $6 for 2 hours. We walked for about 1 hour to get to the rock pool, (Thanks to the Ranger Mr. Lee to help us to get there) breathtaking views! I was lucky to see a bob cat in our hiking trail. Bathrooms are clean. I definitely will be back. Please don't go with your dog is not allowed and is very hot in summer for your furry friend. Get early in the morning to enjoy your hiking

This is such a cool park with natural beautiful and it is suitable for all ages and activities. Many school children come out here to just play around the creek and the grass land areas. For the RV campers, there is a special parking area that’s just for the RVs. Being first time here, we were so intrigued by the vast reserves of the mountain and creeks. The park is well kept so it was easy for us to strike along the hiking path without getting lost. Once we parked and past the bridge, we were in a different world away from the busy PCH. The vast grass prairie field transported us to the sound music land. We thought we were in Austria where Maria was singing the “Song of Music”. The scenery was just breadth taking. Many people bring their K9 friends to swim in the creek and play with the wild ducks. The reflection of the mountains in the stream created a surreal feeling for us. We felt that we had been missing a lot before we visited here. It was too bad that we didn’t have the time to visit the old “Mash” TV film site as we had to bail for our dinner reservation at Duke’s Malibu that evening. We definitely will be back to visit the “Mash” site and the Reagan Ranch.

It's like a playground for those who love nature! The park ranger recommended, "Bulldog Road" if I was looking for a workout. It was a bit intense but definitely worth the work out! 👍 If by some chance you still have leftover energy, feel free to go up CASTRO road. You'll gain elevation and an opportunity to some DIVINE views! 🌄💯 Just be careful and take enough water to stay hydrated (@ least 32oz per individual)!! God Bless💫

There are many hiking trails with stunning view over the hills in this park. Best time to come mornings & evenings before the sunset. One can meet some animals too, but most of Tim’s they are hiding. The roads & trails are land-based, but there are points you can get by car and still have a beautiful scenery around. #NoAccessibility here though. Wild spot.

The camping spots are small. I would say site 53 is the biggest one here. The bathrooms and showers are kept very clean. The hiking trails are really good. Your 10 minutes from town if you need supplies . So far all the park staff have been very friendly. It's a perfect time of year to be here. Thanks to all our rain this season everything is green. Great place for a weekend or day trip.

Beautiful hikes! There are caves to explore, a gorgeous (thanks to recent rains!🙏🏻) meadow, rock climbing... If you enjoy the different sounds and sights of nature (crickets, birds, geese, lizards, squirrels, etc), you'll enjoy this park! Has all kinds of paths, so families and people of different ages and physical conditions are able to find nd something to do and enjoy at nature here.

Awesome park. Plenty of trails. We came here to hike out to the M.A.S.H. filming site and after a couple of miles of easy hiking we've reached our destination. The site provides numerous info boards containing picture comparisons of now and when filming was going on. A wildfire burned through the area a few years back but the ambulance and signpost were replaced since. Highly recommended 👌

An absolutely beautiful destination with plenty to see and do here, (no pets allowed). My main suggestion would be to go in the Springtime or shortly after a rainy season so you'll actually see a creek. If you go in the heat of summer, you'll get plenty of hot sun, no creek, and lots of mosquitoes breeding in the murky, bacteria filled, stagnant leftover water of a once flowing creek. If you're not familiar with the trails, get a map at the ranger booth when you enter, (cash only), and ask them which area of the park is the best to hike depending on what you want to see or do there. Take plenty of water and food rations with you. If you have an off-road bike, scooter, or other man-powered riding utility, it's a faster and easier way to get from trail to trail. They have a visitor center that's rarely open and port-o-potties near the visitor center to use. Before you decide to take a dip in any of the waters you come across, make sure it's safe.

Great place to go for a hike. Quiet after you hike in a little more than a 1/2 mile or so and start up into the hills. Look for the place that they films planet of the apes, good signage telling you a little about it. Also, continue to go in further, about 2.3 miles from the parking lot, and you will come to the set of M.A.S.H. You should come away with lots of great memories.

Had a really fun day there. I took my husband so he could go see the M.A.S.H. set. The weather was very nice. But I suggest you read more about it on the website before you go. I didn't realize it was going to be hiking. We were comfortable stuff it was only about 5 miles round trip, but my husband would like to have different things with him when we went. I enjoyed just walking the area and seeing all the different rocks and acorn trees and the riverbed. There's the Reagan Ranch you can see up there also the Lost cabin and the century Dam. Because it used to be owned by Fox Century 21. They also filmed Planet of the Apes in the seventies in that area.

I left a more critical review about the bacteria levels in the rock pool Google link. But in all, this park deserves 5 stars. The photos don’t do it justice. It’s insanely beautiful. Highly recommended. Rock pools unsafe to swim in due to an unhealthy level of harmful bacteria, was told the lake is healthy to swim in by a local, and I swam in the creek which was so nice. We camped on a Thursday night too and it was not crowded. Was so so lovely! Would do again & again.

Easily accessible, easy trails with very little climbing. Wildflowers weren’t as rich as earlier in April, but there was plenty to see. The creek was too high to cross on foot. We saw two snakes, a rattler that stayed in the brush at the side of the trail and a harmless one taking its time to cross the trail. Watch out for sharp thistles and the occasional poison oak. Beautiful views of the SM mountains! The hills are still mostly green from the April rain. Lots of shaded spots, a few benches to rest. There are snakes - we saw a rattler next to the trail following some small birds, so stay on the trail! If you go off-trail you might surprise a rattler and get bit! We saw also saw a snake crossing the trail, so we watched him from a safe distance. Negatives: the porta-potties are full and the stench is overwhelming. No one is emptying trash cans. Some clueless folks on the trails think this is a good place to smoke and throw cigarette buts - apparently they don’t see a connection to the fire-scared trees! We carried a bag and collected some trash that others carelessly left on and next to the trail.

First time here. Camping ground are nice, with 4 restrooms and 3 showers (during the day, you don't need to pay for hot water just open up the hot water and hot water will come 🤫) there is a deer that is a little bit to human friendly (protect your groin area), it will let you touch and caress. actively looking for food. EV friendly, the Rangers have a charging area for their EVs and Hybrids. you can use the charging station if they are not using it to charge. if you go for a hike and want to be adventurous ask a Ranger and he'll tell you the way. 4 out of 5 Rangers that I met are cool. happy camping! 🏕️

Nice park with some shade and not crowded. Parking is $12 for the whole day. Trail are mostly flat with little ups or down. Interesting rocky hills. There is some water in the main creek and reservoir. But fairly dry and brown in the summer. Some mountain bikers but most trails are nice and wide. Interesting Mash and Planet of the Apes TV series sites.

This place is a dump. The toilet rooms have lots of toilet paper strewn about and streaks in toilets for days, lots of trash at sites, garbage overflowing. We stayed 5 nights and the toilet paper ran out completely in the 4 toilet rooms on night 4 (space for 6 rolls in each room, all empty). One of the toilet rooms has a sink, no counter to set down your soap, otherwise sinks are outside the toilet rooms. Considering California's emphasis on health, this place is very much lacking any way to stay healthy. Maybe there is weekly cleaning? We were there 5 nights and never saw any cleaning. There is a camp host, but not sure what he does. There are also no outlets in or out of the bathrooms. There appears to be no limit to the number of camping units per site, so there were 5 tents across from us the first few nights, and people set up tents wherever they want, so two tents were set up under the tree by the shower building, not at all in their campsite. Best I can say-- shower rooms were fairly debris free, and it was quiet after 10 or so.

It’s a great park! Nice variety of landscapes to enjoy hiking in, good bathrooms, plenty of parking, free water fountains, safe dumping for coals from cooking fires for those camping, and well-marked trails. The only reason I don’t give it five stars is that unless you’re coming on a weekday morning - it is usually absolutely packed with people celebrating events, hiking in large groups or families with stereos turned up loud and making a lot of noise. On a weekend, it’s not a restful or quiet place. It’s just so crowded and so noisy with man made noise. I wish there was a way for them to enforce a quiet ordinance or keep numbers of people allowed in the park down on weekends. If none of that bothers you, enjoy! But I may start coming only during the week.

AMAZING! So beautiful, great hike that is not too intense and you’re able to explore different paths. Easy parking and easy to navigate as a first time hiker

It's breathtaking! Super easy hike and relaxing. Got there early so parking was plenty, but by time we were done hiking, the parking lot was completely full, so definitely recommend going early! A plus, Malibu Riders do a horseback riding trail here!

Beautiful location thriving with wild life. Get here at dawn and you can have the rock pool for yourself. Perfect for meditation. You might as well check out the M*A*S*H set while you're there. Do a favor for the habitat and pick up after yourself and if you already have that good habit then do a deed and pick up a piece of trash left behind by someone that "forgot."

I was mesmerized. This place was beautiful to hike. There's a lot of hiking trails where you can explore and enjoy these breathtaking views. Simply wonderful and easy to hike. Everyone was wearing a mask and keeping their distance.

Kids lead the way through the Creeks. We had so much fun so our 2 hours of parking there was too short. Love the trails and seen a lot of wildlife. A heaven for butterflies and frogs.

We had an excellent Mother's Day hike! There's still lots of superbloom to see and it's not too hot yet either. Nice easy hike but, just so you know, the water ways are pretty full. We had to backtrack because crossing the creek was out for us.

The most beautiful state park near LA. I've been coming here for years to hike, swim, relax, climb, and see wildlife. So many awesome trails with some history, a great visitor center, nice camp grounds, and plenty of parking. I'll be coming back here for years to come.

I am in love. I live in London and this place is (literally & figuratively) miles away from the cold, rainy, grey city. Makes me want to pack my things and move to California. The ladies at the Visitor Centre were so kind and helpful.

I can't believe this place is a 45 min drive, I'm so lucky to have such a beautiful place so close to home. I visited by myself and just had to take the fam with me the second time around. Perfect for kids since the main attractions are so close to the parking lot. Bring a lunch, water, sun screen, glasses, and your favorite hat.

Went camping at the campgrounds and then hit the trails with friends to the Malibu Creek Rock Pools. I rode my EUC around the trails before actually walking it. They have trash and recycle bins near the end of the trail and porta pottys. There is a picnic table at the end of 1 of the trails under trees.

Very beautiful place to spend time and hiking. It has $12 parking fee per day. But you should be vary careful with the holes everywhere around the field digging in with gophers.

Hadn't been there in years. A lot of changes. Be prepared to pay a fee at the gates when manned or kiosk. Plenty of parking in several areas. Nice hiking trails. Appreciated the trees for shade as it was a hot day. Restrooms at the trailhead. Some tables/benches along the main trail. Very little fishing (license required) as the persistent drought has dried up most of the streams. A deep pond near the education center contains HUGE carp.

Had so much fun camping here. The restrooms were stocked and pretty clean as well as the shower stalls. Although there was a lot of "meat bees" at the campground we didn't get stung by them. And we also never used insect repellent. We were there 4 days and came home without any bug bites. There's a swimming hole walking distance from the camp. And Malibu beach was a short drive away. And we hiked a 2.5 mile trail one way. We found so many things on our hike. It was an amazing trip.

It was incredibly beautiful. A few different mini trails you can use to get to the lake. We took the Cistern route. Not many other hikers that day. We took the more difficult route which still wasn't too bad. If you have any trouble I suggest using AllTrails for a more descriptive map (for some reason my friends and I got lost because we entered a weird way aka cutting through the brush. So we had a little trouble finding our way back). 10/10 beautiful hike.

Several trails that are well marked and maintained. Great for exploring filming sites, my favorite was exploring where M*A*S*H was situated
