Update 1/23/24 Parents tell me tents pop up on Selma every now & then and they report it to lapd and they're promptly moved elsewhere. Unfortunately the park continues to be a mess and residents are afraid to use the park. Efforts to save the park haven't gotten far. CD13 continues to allow encampments to ruin our neighborhoods & businesses. 10/11/23 Encampment hasn't returned but efforts need to be made to "save the park" 8/22 the mayors Inside Safe program was used here and this encampment has been removed and Lapd Hollywood division is enforcing an ordinance the prohibits encampments from along this stretch of Selma Ave. from the park at Schrader to Cherokee Ave. 7/18/23: Last 4 photos are most recent, took them 7/16. The encampment has doubled in size and surely impacts the nearby businesses and the school when students return from summer break in August. 7/16/23This park is even worse than it was when I first posted photos here. I would consider it a DANGEROUS park to visit because of the growing encampment here. I will be contacting LAParks & our council district. It has been promised the encampment will be removed by 8/1 when students return to the school nextdoor, Larchmont Charter & Selma Elementary. ---------------- Beautiful little pocket park & childrens playground, not sure if neighbors go there now with the growing encampment on the sidewalk next to the park. Sidewalk there is totally blocked. Hopefully our city council will begin working on this issue soon. Encampments been on the news lately since there's a school next door to the park. Sidewalk is blocked with tents & students have to walk in the street to get past the encampment. Now LAPD is at the gate to provide extra security during morning drop offs & afternoon pickups after a parent was attacked by someone from the encampment.

Unfortunately, this area is moderately unsafe. The city built a very tall wrought iron fence around the park, which means there is only one entrance/exit to the area. There are many unhoused people living in the park. This is not uncommon in LA and usually doesn't bother me much, but I was far outnumbered and wasn't comfortable with the fact that there was only one exit that could be easily blocked by a person. However, the park itself is very shady and beautiful. There is a smaller area in the back with a children's playground and three cement chess tables. This park is also right behind the touristy area of Hollywood, and is easily walkable from the Hollywood/Highland stop on the Red Line train.

Please maintain the park clean for kids! There’s glass everywhere, trash, and homeless smoking and it’s just not a great park for children and it’s just sad to see this!

Great place if you're looking to score fentanyl or catch MRSA. 🙄 This park needs to be shut down completely. It's nothing but a public nuisance.

Small Park in Central Hollywood area, with a special elementary school located next door. Close to busy restaurants pubs and other attractions in Hollywood. RZED.

Currenly riddled with the unhoused, IVD users walking around. Not a family environment, not safe.

Sadly but true there's a lot of people tent it out in front of this park I hope they all get housed like I did. My hopes and prayers go out to all those individuals who are homeless out there. There is help you just got to seek it.

Once a nice shady little pocket park and play area for daycare children from the YMCA; now home to dozens of loud aggressive young homeless men. People parking their cars on the street adjacent now report vandalism. Makes the street unsafe to walk at night. No one but the homeless dare to go in the park.

The homeless community has taken over and destroyed this park. Pass by any hour during daytime or daylight hours and you will see nearly every person inside the park smoking or injecting some form of street drug and it's shocking seeing the police drive by, watch it occur, and do absolutely nothing to clean up this sad pandemic ESPECIALLY with the park being next door to an elementary school! The children can't even use this park. Our tax dollars hard at work, huh!

Great place to sit and get some water. Full of homeless people but otherwise pretty clean. Not dangerous , I don't have any issues.

It's a small park divided into two parts. One part is a children's play area. Nice and reasonably safe and clean, popular with the local families. Only adults accompanied by children are allowed there. The other side, separated by a low fence with an unlocked gate, is a small green shady area that looks nice, but you are more than likely to witness someone being arrested there on any given day. You want to keep your kids out of that part, unless you are willing to risk them being stuck in the hand or foot by a used needle. If you're used to parks in LA and that sort of thing doesn't bother you, then you probably didn't need to read this review.

NOT KID FRIENDLY!!! I don't even go inside! It's used by drug and alcohol users and is NOT safe for kids and can't understand why it is even open because nothing good goes on inside there.
