The staff are polite and friendly, but that’s the only positive thing I can say about this gym. This place is a filthy dump. The ventilation is awful, so forget about working out there on hot days. Avoid the locker rooms and bathrooms. They’re vile. Broken equipment takes forever to get fixed, peak hours are impossibly crowded, and more often than not, the music is deafening and the paper towel dispensers are empty. But the biggest disappointment are their business hours. We PAID for 24 hours when we signed up. The pandemic is over, yet they refuse to get their act together. The 24 Hour in North Hollywood resumed its never-closed schedule ages ago. We understand that local staff don’t set the hours, but they DO have a voice. EVERYONE at this location hates the hours. Use your collective staff muscle to force the change with corporate. The only reason I continue to use this location is its proximity to my home — but my patience is quickly waning.

I joined this gym in hopes to use the steam room regularly.. ever since I joined this gym months ago the steam room has not been open .. MONTHS ! they say it needs a new door but does it really take an entire summer to fix a door ??? Unbelievable.. I have no idea who’s running this gym but it seems to have no leadership and no care for upkeep .. I’ve seen cups and water bottles in the gym lockers that stayed in the same position for days .. but my main issue is the equipment.. the steam room is supposed to be an asset to the gym … for an entire summer nothing has been done to fix the steam room and no worker has any answers as to why …

This place has ppl working here out of uniform and texting. And the bright red hair girls always talking loud like we are deaf. The paper towels and sprayer is either gone or there nothing there. Yet there's workers sitting around texting?

Of all the gyms I've been in around the world, this is definitely the dirtiest. People were coming into the sauna straight from a workout without showering and then sweating all over the place. The steam room had dirt all over the floor and bits of plastic. The changing room and showers weren't clean either. It's a shame because the gym is quite well equipped and has a wide range of stuff you can do. Unfortunately cleanliness is terrible and a lot of people who train there don't respect the gym by looking after their hygiene or putting their equipment back correctly after use.

This gym is a breeding ground for staph infections. The gym’s air conditioning has been broken for ages so it’s like working out in hot soup. There are two floors, and the lower floor is a ridiculous, gross temperature. Combine that with no windows downstairs, and nobody cleaning machines, this gym is a breeding ground for infections. Yuck.

Edit: they changed the hours but barely added any. Removed hours from some days and added it to others. Hours are even worse now, so i’m lowering my review to 1 star for how long this has been going on and how many workouts i’ve missed because of this. Close at 11pm (at least) every day!! I cancelled my membership because of your hours, fix it and I will reinstate. Original review: Dope gym, not sure why it gets so many bad reviews. Has all the basics you need & in a super convenient location (for me). But with that being said covid is over, they need to stay open till 11pm at least (preferably later), I have missed a lot of workouts due to them changing their hours to 9pm. Also please bring back the yoga classes, those were amazing!!

I complain there is no paper towels to wipe off equipment here at this gym. They said they do not have any because the paper company stop supplying. So why not get it from different company. Many people pay monthly memberships. Why can you get paper products elsewhere? Hygiene and sanitizing equipment is not a priority here at the public gym where everyone sweats. Disappointing!!!

Clean your Gym!!! I've been visiting this gym for over 8 years and have seen the condition getting worse every month. The dirt and lint balls under the equipment is horrible. I've seen dirt and items that were dropped on the floor stay there for a over a week. There is no cleaning of equipment ever. I've seen some staff mop or sweep the floor, however it's only some of the main walkways and never near or under the machines where we are working out and breathing the dirt. At on time I just had to leave due to the amount of lint and dirt between and around 97 % of the equipment. I have since joined Planet Fitness and boy what a difference!!

I've been coming to this gym since it opened 20 years ago. I was here before they added the 2nd level, before people lined the machines playing on their phones, before they installed WI-FI, even before most of the employees graduated high school. Over the years, I've seen a steady decline in the quality of this gym. From some of the clientele that frequents here to the often broken down and worn machines. It feels like management/corporate is satisfied with mediocre. Some of the TVs are functional sometimes and even when they are you can bet that they aren't showing any support for the local LA teams. There's rarely any hand sanitizer and disinfecting solution despite the recent pandemic. Even more rare is the visibility of their employees doing anything except for chatting it up at the front desk. It can, at times, be a free for all with people going shirtless, publicly displaying affection, or my personal favorite; the cirque de soleil performances. It isn't much to ask for their employees to clean up a little and help organize the equipment, or to ensure that the equipment is functional, or to make sure there's ways to disinfect ourselves and wipe down the sweaty equipment. It would be amazing if they actually had working AC so that I didn't feel like I was working out in the sauna. In a perfect world, all I would have to worry about visiting here are the unsightly crocs people wear to the gym,but that isn't the case. I still have to be exposed to that along with the many other complaints that come with a membership here. I will still keep coming here out of mere convenience and the fact that I primarily do MMA at a different gym, but it would be a lot more pleasant if these issues were added because I know the rates will be going up and we still won't see the results that we all want.

Worst customer experience I’ve ever had with a gym. Manager BROOKE was completely unprofessional with her service. Had an attitude the whole time and was cutting me off every other sentence. I would not recommend this gym to anyone with the terrible service I was given! Emma however was very pleasing to talk to and I appreciate her. But Brooke was absolutely terrible. I’d give 0 stars if I could.

24 Hr Fitness in Sherman Oaks, California is located inside the Sherman Oaks Galleria up the staircase/escalators/elevator on the second floor.. I've been here a few times before prior to the pandemic and enjoyed some of the cool features and layouts 24 has to offer like endless amounts as well as rows of working equipment, friendly staff, saunas, changing rooms, showers and so forth. Definitely love all the cardio machines especially the ellipticals and bikes as there as so many to choose from. The weights are usually always often in use, which is kind of a down side, but it doesn't feel as crowded as it once was. Sign up for a free three day pass online and try it out! Mayra is amazing as are many of the 24 S.O. staff. They have lots of cold beverages and what not for purchases as well before or after a workout. Open from 5 AM to 9 PM daily for now.

It's been over a week now and yet nobody's contacted me. Reached out to management twice and left a message for the general manager of Sherman oaks. Zero response, zero contact after reporting an incident Been coming here for 15 plus years almost everyday. Unfortunately I've seen the culture change drastically. It's become a bully mentality up front at the desk from the members of the staff. I just recently had an experience where I was yelled at by a member of the staff. It's become extremely uncomfortable to go back to this gym. Especially since they project on a loudspeakers at every hour that if you don't want to rack your weight or flush the toilet you can go to another gym. Extremely condescending and unmotivating to hear somebody being condescending in the morning. The staff never puts any time into actually cleaning up the place rather than just yelling at us paying members to do it. The culture has completely taken a turn towards extremely poor service and people

I’ve been a member for over a decade and been to a lot of other 24s and other gyms. I generally like 24, this is one of the worst if not the worst gym I’ve even been to. Equipment is fine. Decent selection, mostly in decent quality, things get fixed reasonably fast, and it’s usually not overly crowded. None of the free weights or attachments are where they should be. Nothing gets racked and it’s impossible to find anything. It doesn’t seem like anything is ever cleaned. Paper towels are regularly empty. I’m terrified and disgusted whenever I set foot inside the locker room or bathrooms. It looks and smells like nothing is ever cleaned and toilets, urinals, and sinks are regularly broken. It seems like the AC doesn’t and hasn’t worked. It’s always hot and humid inside, especially downstairs. The summers are unbearable downstairs with regularly being above 78. They have some fans scattered around running downstairs but it’s just hot humid stale air at all times. I’ve never experience anything near as bad at any other 24. I don’t understand how this is allowed to be called a super sport.

I love this gym, easily one of the best gyms Ive ever been to. Not overly busy, always available equipment, friendly atmosphere. However post pandemic their hours have just sucked. 10pm closing got me rushing to the gym after work, even worse on Fridays closing at 9, yes people still work full days on Fridays. I've asked if the hours would ever revert to pre-pandemic(Id even settle for 11pm), they told me to check other locations open later. I live 2 blocks from this gym, I shouldn't have to drive 20-30min to Woodland Hills or Burbank.

Super Dirty, and poor air ventilation. A breeding ground for germs. They have not updated any equipment, and the leg extension machine is M.I.A. The paper towels dispensers are empty and the trash cans spilling over.

Many many many years ago this was the gym to go to. I recently moved back in the area and I signed up with 24hrs. This place looks like a dump. So filthy I can’t get over it. It’s hot as hell in there, barely any air to breathe. I’m not liking the hours either. I work 2 jobs and by the time I want to come to the gym it’s Closing time. I wish I had asked about the hours before I prepaid for the whole year.

The staff are extremely rude here, especially the girl with braids who works the front counter during the morning shift. God forbid you ask them a question about your membership and they act like they’re doing you a favor. There’s almost never a manager on duty (are they cutting personnel costs?) and the place itself is extremely filthy - there’s never any paper towels and sanitizer left in any of the dispensers. The local YMCA has better customer service than this place. I only pay 20 per month and now I know why. Cancelling asap.

There’s a lot of reviews about the gym being dirty with no paper towels etc., BUT I’m usually at the gym by 5-5:30am, and it’s always clean and restocked yeah it’s the beginning of the day but I believe it’s the actual gym goers that don’t have regard for others as the day progresses which is not ok because we’re all adults and should be able to throw a sweaty paper towel in the trash. The only reason I am giving 4 out of 5 stars is because of the hours, I signed up when it was open 24 hours years ago, I hope things go back to normal soon rather than later.

Pretty decent gym, been coming here since 2012 or so. I use to live about a mile away at the time, so it was a great walk to and from as well. Still going here even though I live about 10-15 mins drive away, I think it's because I'm just accustomed to it. Friendly staff and pretty clean, sometimes can get a little packed, but overall decent.

Revoked my Membership without reason. That's fine because the cleanliness at this club is absolutely terrible. There is no ventilation so it always smells like sweat. They do not clean any areas, I've seen the same paper towels and water bottles left behind for multiple days in a row. Not to mention that they are not 24 hours. Go to any other gym and you'll be much happier.

I"m disappointed that other clubs have extended their hours and the Sherman Oaks have not. Should at least extend to 11PM staring starting as soon as possible. Their excuse to close 9pm due to Covid is not logical should you expend the operations hours so more people are spread out through the day. Also watch out for possible class action lawsuits since, for false advertising "24 hour fitness" you may get away for now because of the virus, but not in the long run.

No mask enforcement whatsoever. Seen people spit on the floor. Employees don’t periodically clean. Trash/weights constantly on the floor. I don’t believe we will be renewing our membership unless things change but it’s been like this for the 3 years now that I’ve been going here. Over it.

THIS CLUB IS DOING AN INADEQUATE JOB OF ENFORCING THE COVID-19 MASK MANDATE. MEMBERS DON'T WEAR MASKS, EVEN AFTER BEING TOLD TO DO SO, CREATING A DANGEROUSLY UNHEALTHY ENVIORONMENT AND ANIMOSITY AMONG MEMBERS!

Just joined this gym few months ago after being at Gold’s for many many years. Mainly cause I moved to Sherman Oaks & it’s the only gym in the area. Coming from Gold’s where the gym was ALWAYS clean, ALWAYS organized, ALWAYS working equipment. ALWAYS being greeted when walking in & out. I signed up also thinking it was 24 hours so I could go work out at 4am, it’s NOT. Anyways, only one or two ppl greet me. I don’t know his name, but nice gentleman that always has his music on, greets us and is so friendly. Everyone else is on their phones. Don’t look up. They don’t seem to care or want to be there. It’s dirty. Very unorganized…my biggest frustration is never being able to find 2 of the same dumbbells. They are just everywhere, ppl don’t put them back. But this is why they need workers walking around making sure everything is organized and put back. But they don’t do anything there. Just on their phones in the front. Never had this issue at GOLD’s, everything was so clean, always being wiped down, and always saw workers walking around making sure everything (such as dumbbells) were put back in place. It’s hard to work out or have a work out plan and then you can’t find the equipment you need to perform it. Cause who knows where the other 20 lb dumbbell is at. Lost somewhere. And downstairs is more of a mess. I never see a worker down there. Not ever. Miss my last gym and being able to walk in and work out with the equipment that was always easily accessible. As I said, I only come here due to it’s the closest gym to me. Out of pure convenience. If I move; definitely will not be coming here anymore. Go to a golds, even an LA fitness, take some notes! Pleaseeeee! And open 24 hours. It’s in your name.

One of the better 24 hr locations however I have a couple gripes. Would it kill them to turn on the a/c? It's hot and muggy in here. Also the layout is odd you have to walk through the gym floor to get to the locker rooms and it's 2 floors with what seems like the same stuff on both. The good, there's a lot of equipment here.not too crowded. Lots of people but plenty of equipment that you're not waiting on machines. Good location and fairly clean.

Really wanted to love this gym! Staff is nice, lots of space, well equipped. But insanely dirty. Water fountains were covered in old dried protein power, floors aren’t ever vacuumed, I dread going to the bathroom bc 7/10 times when I open the stall door the toilet isn’t flushed or cleaned. Really really unhygienic, and honestly unsafe in terms of getting sick etc.

Ladies restroom/locker room are filthy. Urine drops on toilet that haven't been cleaned/wiped for quite some time. I saw a toilet bowl with sh..t ring in it that was old. Floors don't appear to be mopped regularly. I approached a young male employee at front desk to inform him that a soap dispenser is broken in ladies bathroom. His response was "there should be other dispensers you can use." The positive? Good treadmill equipment. That's it.

I’ve been to four different 24 Hour Fitness gyms, and this one is really nice. It’s clean, and someone is perennially cleaning equipment. It’s not empty, but it’s not over full either. The other members are friendly. The staff is very friendly. Tons of equipment. Stuff I’ve never seen at other gyms. Love it.

I’ve been going to this gym for a few years now and it’s pretty bad, especially in comparison to the Woodland Hills location. There’s only one helpful staff member named Michael. However, the condition of the place only gets worse instead of better. A few days ago I inquired why there are 0 paper towels & spray at EACH station downstairs. Two days later I walk in to another member asking for the exact same to be provided and the employee just said ok and brushed it off. The stations upstairs that do have spray bottles hardly even work. The women’s bathrooms are usually filthy and I’ve only seen the employee come in to use it for herself and walk right out . They have removed paper towels in the women’s bathroom altogether. Yet, they are constantly announcing on the loud speaker that we MUST clean out stations - so perhaps cleaning materials should be provided. I had a friend join me at this location for a work out and she was disgusted at the condition of the place and said she would not become a member after seeing this location. Besides the cleanliness and lack of help from the staff that is either completely absent in the front or all grouped together just talking…. I do wish that there were more classes provided with better teacher (ie zumba) which again, is so great at Woodland Hills location, that you can hardly fit in the room- showing what is possible. It is sad that Sherman Oaks is in this condition for a lucrative location in the valley and I shouldn’t have to drive outside of my area for the proper experience. Does not make me happy to see that our requests as paying customers seems to fall on deaf ears both in person and on these reviews from long time members. Please make the simple changes like PAPER TOWELS.

These people are liars and cheaters. they say one thing and they do something else. I am now fighting them and will not give up until I get my money. I do not recommend them at all. The worst customer service. I should have read all the reviews. It looks like they train their people to lie and cheat. this not enough they are so rude, I have never experienced this kind of customer service. You sent me a no reply email and told me to send you you an email via your site. I had already done that twice with no response from any of you at 24 Hour. I will continue to fight and ge my money back.

I just wanted to say how great this 24 hour fitness is. The staff and location are amazing. Equipment is mostly well maintained, which is tough with the foot traffic. But the big 5 star difference maker is trainer Ashli H. I did 4 sessions with her and while I played college football and thought myself well versed in kinesiology she broken me down every time using innovative exercises, muscle activations before the work out and she taught me a ton. I am no on my way to getting back in college football shape thanks to Ashli H (I am 45). Give this woman a raise!

Brooke the manager is not helpful and was actually rude when asked why I couldn’t get my annual fee refunded after just being billed for it 3 days ago and me cancelling my membership after ~1 month of use. I called the corporate number and without asking any questions, they refunded the fee right away. Not sure what the role of a manager is if you could just call the corporate number and get things done much easier.

Avoid this location at all costs. On Feb 6th, 2024, my locked locker was broken into. My wallet and car/home keys were taken. Before I found out, the person entered my home as they had my ID. I'm so so so grateful that my family wasn't home at the time. This location has absolutely no understanding on how to run a fitness center. There are times when the desk is completely unattended and when it is attended, the staff could not do less to keep the gym secure. This location is also a COMPLETE health hazard. No description would do the FILTH THAT THEY'VE ACCOMPLISHED justice. Management has apologized and will not be offering me any reimbursement for the thousands that THEIR LACK of security has cost me. In addition, the lost sense of security, mental anguish, and lack of sleep. The person responsible can still access my building and certainly still attends 24 Hour Fitness at the Sherman Oaks Galleria. I'm so angry with myself for not taking the poor reviews seriously and for not leaving this location sooner. Stay safe.
