“Absolutely off the chain” the waffle breakfast was delicious, those grits were something I’ve never had in my life. and I will definitely be back for another plate with friends.

Very tasty gluten-free vegan mac&cheese and the way how they make kale. I also loved the walnut meat in the burrito. Nice staff and space. I wish to try their puddings but the time I came were not available 😔

I love this place. The food was delicious! No artificial or highly processed stuff, just good whole food made well. The vibe is on point and the staff are super helpful. In addition to a full menu of all vegan plates, beverages and desserts, there are also clothes, oils, and other items for sale. The yam patties were so yummy, I'm sad I only got two! The welcome plate was like a super sampler of so many wonderful items. So flavorful! The lentil fritters with the dill sauce was awesome too! They're not yet open for dine in but they're are a couple tables and chairs outside and take out orders are in high demand.

100% delicious! Literally in my car outside the restaurant writing this review. This was seriously amazing! I am not vegan and I can tell you 100% this is some of the best food I’ve ever had. I don’t normally eat this type of food, meaning I’m not Black, and I usually spend my time in Boyle Heights or DTLA. I am so glad I had the chance to be in South LA. Tastes homemade, tastes clean, tastes so good. Go here.

Pockets of joy. Babas brings stuffed pockets to Leimert Park on Sundays. We ventured out and tried four, plus the very good Mac and cheese and pie. The sweet potato pocket was not greasy and the crust is whole wheat, and was my favorite. My girlfriend liked the red cabbage pocket. The Mac had a bunch of savory flavor and tiny raw veggie crunchy bits thrown in for a surprisingly nice texture. Highly recommend.

Everything we ordered was delicious and electric food! Those patties were fire!! I plan to order a dozen the next time I visit!

The food is very flavorful and none of the dishes has been disappointing. We appreciate that everything is crafted from whole foods and no fake meat substitute.

This has been one of my favorite places for vegan food. The love of food and community can be felt oozing off every morsel your taste buds delight in! This is a late review as I couldn't find the pictures I took on my last visit. As I don't live in the immediate area at this time I can only enjoy the food when I get a chance. I didn't get to make the grand opening. This was my personal grand opening to Babas' brick and mortar establishment! Well I got the soul plate and met some soul brothers enjoying theirs and shared in some great soul conversations over some soul food. This restaurant has a feeling of home. With a mini library of interesting books. You can take in some knowledge while you wait on your plate. The novelty display with cool finds you can purchase and a wall of art to interpret. A mirror you can check yourself out before and after your meal to ensure your aesthetic is never lacking. See may not be your home but it's your home when you stop by for a welcome plate that's not the only thing that makes you feel welcomed!

Excellent Vegan Food! I recommend the Welcome Plate which has a variety of Sautéed veggies and cooked veggies on one plate. Very delicious and very filling. I will be back!

Food made from the soul. The greens and mac & cheese have nice spices to them (wish I’d ordered extra of both). And the service is just as great as the food; everyone in the cafe is friendly.

Overall the food was tasty. I was disappointed they gave me more rice than black eye peas. The ladies that took the orders was nice and helpful.

Placed an order through Ubereats didn’t get what I wanted . Tried their welcome plate. Was way over seasoned the greens where too mushy , the food was too salty overall. The only good thing was their salad

Saw this place on my way work,Had my man bring me here the next day because I wanted something sweet and healthy. I got a slice of chocolate cake and a coconut water and it’s amazing. The chocolate cake is for sure on the dark chocolate side and a little dry (normal for vegan cake ) but I still tore it up and loved it, the coconut water also was just a straight up coconut and was full of juice and had a toasted coconut flavor it was great. Excited to come back and try more on their menu when I need something savory. Great pricing and very homey atmosphere love it 💕

Man!!! Let me tell you that the food is delicious. BEST VEGAN FOOD IN LOS ANGELES! I ordered the dinner plate and I was immediately impressed. The fried mushrooms was so freaking good. The mac and cheese, yams, rice and beans, greens and potatoes were🔥. I ate everything on my plate! Can't wait to go back to try another dish. Forgot to mention that the customer service was great!

Visited Baba’s today for lunch and enjoyed the delicious “Dinner Plate.” The veggies, yams, and beans were slow cooked to perfection; the mac and cheese was cozy for a cold, gray day. The fried mushrooms were crisp and satisfying. Baba himself provided excellent guidance on the menu and took care of my table, which made the experience that much more personal. I also liked looking at the shirts, sweatshirts, soaps, and other African goods for sale in the shop. The outdoor mural, indoor paintings, music, and overall vibe felt very immersive; you can tell a lot of heart went into this place. I’ll be back for more mushrooms and the chocolate cake!

OMG!! The tacos are divine! The potato chowder is hearty and filled with unexpected vegetables. This is a must eat it your near by, I love hamburger so no, you don't have to be a vegetarian to eat here. That's a crazy concept! Eat good food, and this food is great!

I would give the food 3.5. The taco was really good but the rest lacked. We tried the waffle, bachos and a muffin. They didn't have empanadas.

we came here before a concert at the forum and the reviews did not lie. this place is amazing. we got the dinner plate and the welcome plate and there wasnt a single thing we didnt like. mac salad? 1000/10. hot mac? delicious. will be coming again before every forum concert. its so close and the portions are amazing.

I would recommend to order ahead if time. But if you don't, be patient while they make your order. We ordered the small portion if the welcome plate and dinner plate. Both plates were delicious, and flavorful.

Had the curry plate which was really good. I even got the small but it was pretty filling. Also the vegan carob cake was so good if it weren't labeled you would think it was chocolate.

I love this place especially where its located its need in the hood...the food is delicious errthang is vegan lentil soup mac n cheese and chocolate cake all Satisfying...the energy there is great...they have a store there where you can buy things like Incense, sage, clothing, books and more. I can't wait to go back

I tried this place for the first time yesterday! I got the regular plate and loved it, I wish I got the bigger plate!! Every part of the meal was flavorful. The potatoes and carrots tasted a little like Ethiopian spices were added to it!! The flavors were so potent and delicious. Great choice if you want to eat healthy, yet still enjoy your food 😍 I’d love to try the vegan banana pudding next!
