The High Low

Bar

👍 As a local who loved Griffin, I was VERY skeptical about this place at first. I was really thrown off by the female owner when we first met. It’s just a weird vibe when she’s in the bar. Other than that, this place is killer! Amazing drinks, decent food & a great pool table. Every drink I’ve had on... People often mention great, good, drinks, nachos, pool, table, tacos, happy, space, night,

As a local who loved Griffin, I was VERY skeptical about this place at first. I was really thrown off by the female owner when we first met. It’s just a weird vibe when she’s in the bar. Other than that, this place is killer! Amazing drinks, decent food & a great pool table. Every drink I’ve had on the menu has been perfection. The bartenders know their stuff and are super friendly also. The food is AMAZING, but don’t get the puffy tacos unless you want a swimming pool of grease to go with it. Love this place, it just has a few little things that could be better.

So happy this place opened in the neighborhood! Cocktails were great, happy hour prices are fantastic ($8 for cocktails and tons of beers for $5-6). Tried a bunch of the puffy tacos and especially loved the mushroom and sweet potato. Can’t wait to come back - welcome to Atwater!

Cool bar with a good happy hour. Definitely recommend the outdoor patio until the sun goes down, then move to the fireplace!

This place just opened up on 2/9/22 and we were so excited to try it out. We went in expecting decent bar food and a relaxed atmosphere. This place definitely exceeded our expectations. We got the carnitas nachos, beef picadillo puffy tacos, habanero chicken tenders, and the burger. The nachos and the burger were dishes I would easily come back for. The burger was perfectly seasoned and superbly cooked, and the nachos were honestly some of my favorite in LA. The chicken tenders and tacos were also great-definitely above average for a bar, but not as remarkable as the burger and nachos. I didn’t have a cocktail, but all the guests I was with were very impressed with the margaritas. The service was wonderful too; the staff was all comprised of friendly, professional, and *quick* people. From the bouncer to the bussers to the bartenders, everyone was so accommodating and proactive. I will certainly be adding this to the regular rotation!

We chose this bar because we were on a long road trip south, and we wanted to get off the freeway. What luck we had! The space looks like an old medieval castle hang out and the vibe is much more modern. We had really great margaritas and wings and nachos. That might sound basic, but they are really well done, so let it go lol. The best part about this place is the super great table service. The bartenders are really fast but the servers at the table or sweet and super efficient. Really cool spot.

The ambience is the star of this place. Drinks are decent too with nice happy hour. The guy behind the bar could be a bit more friendlier though.

Great bar. Cool space inside. Plenty of seating. A nice patio too. They have a good happy hour Mon-Fri 5-7. They have karaoke on some nights too. The food is good bar food. Service was great. Street parking but you might have to walk a block or two.

Came here on a Sunday night, great food and cozy friendly atmosphere. Good pool table, great cocktails, delicious food. Decent sized menu with great vegetarian options. Music was very good too. Dogs allowed! Would come here every night if I could.

Good selection of drinks The tacos are delicious. There is a cool new room in the back for karaoke , a pool table in the main bar room , and a patio . They usually have a relevant sport game going on the tv's if there is one . Very cool place to hangout.

Went with a friend for Spotlight Sessions. They have a big bar with great drinks and friendly bartenders, yummy food (the nachos and tacos were great), and fantastic decor/design. The vibe is top notch.

First time. Came to check it out off Google reviews. Got some work done and some good beer and guac. A woman came up and invited me to a comedy show in the stage room. Pretty good comics actually. Will be back.

They have Karaoke 3 nights a week and they have a great selection of cocktails and drinks. Beer is a bit more limited but still good selection. Alex is always a great bartender and makes delicious drinks.

Hey, I like to hand out five stars for most locally owned businesses. This is the latest iteration of the Griffin space across the street from the Tam O'Shanter. The latest owners changed little or nothing inside and out, similar to what the prior owners before that did. As always, the stand out space is the patio area that allows outdoor seating inside a prison yard type space (I say it with love.) It says no smoking etc but you can successfully vape there. They serve food as well, a little bit more than typical bar food and a little less than a straight up restaurant, my favorite is the carnitas nachos which easily feed two people the equivalent of an entire meal. No dedicated parking so be prepared to park on the street.

Surprisingly good cocktails and bar food. Good crowd and good vibes. Only complaint is that the music can get way too loud. If you can't find street parking, park across in the shopping center lot. :)

I was prepared to hate this place because it's not the Grifffin. But holy moly, this place is great. Excellent nachos and other bites, wonderful service, dancing on the weekends, and a really considered and very welcoming vibe. GREAT addition to an already great selection of bars in the hood!

I love this place. Its my go to, but what I didn't like is that one day it was dead...staff started shutting down early. Keep it open till you cant open no more. I mean is not only the High Low, but many places. It seems that you want the people out the later in the night. Why limit even more the possible time that someone could spend at a bar? Anyway, this place is awesome. It has live music, great comedy, good people, atmosphere is great, the food is good, it is dark, it has pool, the whole setup is great, and the staff are good intentioned. Cheers!

Caught up with a friend here and was so impressed by the vibe and service. Our bartender, Jackie, was hip and always ready to help us with whatever we needed. Ended up ordering the nachos, tostada, a mezcal cocktail, and hazy IPA. Everything was well-executed and reasonably priced. Will definitely be back next time I’m in town!

Chill place for a drink. Never crazy busy and always easy to grab a drink at the bar. Feels like some mix between Disney & Game of Thrones sets.

Love this place and the beautiful atmosphere! Not many places like the High Low in the area. Food is great and so are the drinks! So happy to have a new trendy bar pop in the neighborhood! Gotta love that they’ve got a pool table as well, friendly staff and if you haven’t checked it out yet, now is the time!

It used to be The Griffin. And has since changed ownership and now it's pretty great! Overall great aesthetic. They have good bar food here. It's busy. Caters to the folks in their later 20s and 30s from what I could tell. Tip your bartenders and servers. Jacqueline was great and took care of my crew of misfit turkeys.

Amazing old world environment with good drinks and delicious food. My fiancé found this place through a regular old Google search and decided it would be our first stop on our first date night in our new city. The High Low did not disappoint. Romantic lighting, sitting by the fire in what felt like cool medieval architecture. It was the perfect start to our night. We visited a couple of other places that night and wished we had stayed here the whole time. Will definitely be back!
