Kippered is my new favorite neighborhood wine & snack bar. The owner Lydia and her team have created an easy going vibe in a beautiful space with wonderful service. They offer a well curated selection of damn good wines to pair with an extensive array of tinned seafood from Portugal and Spain. There’s also caviar, salads and damn good bread. Extra points for a few different types of butters on hand. The team knows their stuff so ask for help selecting if you’re stuck on what to order - you can’t go wrong.

Kippered was a great find to help celebrate Memorial Day. The food is primarily fish in tins, think sardines, smoked tuna, smoked salmon, pates from around the world. Served with crackers and/or you can make your own charcuterie board with pickles, almonds, cheeses and meats as you wish. 4 beers and 4 wines on tap along with a wide selection of bottled wines and beers too. Cool vibe, laid back feel, lots of dark woods, great 9 stool bar, high top tables and patio seating. Excellent service! Highly recommended!!

What a great new addition to the neighborhood! This little gem only opened less than a week ago, and when I visited on day 3, things were already running smoothly and seamlessly, and I can definitely see myself coming back again and again. Focus is on wine and tinned fish & seafood. The latter might be a little intimidating for some, but I grew up in Europe, so I'm a huge fan and was happy to see some dishes on the menu that brought back fond childhood memories. The food is served kind of charcuterie board style in their original packaging and it makes it all feel so cozy and relaxed; share a bottle and have your own little tasting adventure mixing and matching items from their 50+ different offerings of fishy deliciousness! All served by warm and welcoming staff, the service was top notch and just perfectly attentive. It's the perfect date night spot, be it a first date or a let's get out of the house kinda date. In other parts of the city, I can see this kinda place being a bit too hipstery and pretentious, but this dtla spot felt the complete opposite; just tasty libations with a laid back, inviting and unpretentious atmosphere. We ordered the tuna paté, French mackerel in , smoked trout in sweet wine brine and Danish smoked trout in juniper (my favorite of the night). We added some gruyére as well, and there was bread, butter, crackers and olives. I'm very picky with my bread, but this bread was lush and warm. I had a hard enough time deciding which dishes to order, so went simple with the drinks and had their chilled red wine on tap and their sour beer, both were perfect accompaniment for the food. Warmly recommend a visit, this place is a unique little DTLA treasure.

If you are in downtown LA, you should definitely stop at Kippered. It's a pretty hip place, with a great wine selection and an assortment of tinned fish and other shareable food, which gives a unique experience for a full flavored dinner. The owners are friendly and interesting, and the decor is unique which adds to the vibe. We sat at the bar, and the service was top notch; casual but in some way this felt fancy. It's pretty close to the downtown LA market, and next door there is a cool little grocer run by the same people.

I think we're already addicted to this place. Try the barnacles if you like clams and crayfish - who knew! Pair it with pink bubbles (ask Lydia). 💕

Simply the best!! Of course the interior of this spot is both gorgeous and cozy but it’s the truly thoughtful team that makes Kippered a star. There is so much knowledge and passion put into curating a drinks list that is wide ranging but also cohesive. A rye IPA, skin contact still, and dry cider all on tap?! we love to see it! The collection of tinned fish is one of the largest I’ve seen in the US focusing on sustainable providers from near and far, the last time I saw some of these conservas I was in Portugal, what a treat. Whether you’re looking for a spot for a drink after work, a cutie date night or somewhere to have dinner with a group I think Kippered is a perfect choice. I love trying lots of different things and it is so fun to share all of the small plates here and build a meal out of them.

Great wine and small bites - amazing selection of tinned fish including macklerel, and shell fish. Charming team who puts together a fantastic curated board. Lots of seafood and cheese options from Basque Country and Portugal.

Amazing place, a gem in Los Angeles, one of a kind. Thank you for the security outside, i know it comes at a cost but definitely a necessity downtown.

Really great place, good selection of wines, beautiful décor. My only problem is that I don't really understand why do you need a bouncer upfront. The front patio is really nice, but it is hard to relax with a security guard standing right next to your table. Him blocking the entrance, doesn't feel inviting at all and creates a stark contrast with a laid back atmosphere the bar is shooting for. I know DTLA can be rough at times, but there are many places which are doing just fine without bouncers.

Great place. Staying at citizenM hotel around the corner, new to LA and found this hidden gem. Not a wine person but they recommended something I would like. Plus great vibe.
