Wow what an amazing place to mountain bike and hike. For biking, I would put most of the available trail system here at late intermediate to advanced due to the repercussions of mistake along some of the ridges. The trail itself is not crazy technical. Anyone with a fear of heights would probably not enjoy biking here. All that aside the trail itself is a blast to ride and the views are amazing. Trail system is easy to navigate since there are only a few options. Hiking would be great here as well. Parked at the more northern tail head. No restrooms or water at either TH.

Definitely not a place for beginners! Even if you are expirieced, there will be some sections that are still very challenging. Bring plenty of hidration and snacks. It's a stunning place so you will be stopping to soak in the views!

Beautiful hike! (But I would never ride my mountain bike here. One false move and it's a long way down. 🙃) But the hiking was amazing and so much to explore. Nice trail flow and beautiful views of scenery that changes depending on which direction you take. No shade at all, so best for evening, morning or cooler weather. Very worth navigating the bit of unimproved road to get to the trailhead.

Amazing scenery! I've been here mountain biking 4 times now. I usually go on cooler days (50-85 degrees max!). There is basically no shade, so wouldn't recommend coming here on 90°+ days unless you bring a ton of hydration and snacks. The views are spectacular from the top of "dragons back" and "fun times". I usually do the 8.4 mile recommended loop on the MTB Project app. I notice a lot of people hike and trail run here roo. Some steep parts, if you mountain bike and loose rock but nothing too insane. Theres some really awesome springs further into the trail as well. Phone service minimal at parking lot but works slightly better out on trail. The road leading to the parking lot is very dusty and bumpy with speed grooves so drive slow. Wildlife observed was few bird species and cattle. If you love hiking or mountain biking I highly recommend doing this place AT least once. There is one part in dragons back that is a short lived but STEEP which makes it more ideal to have someone with you because you'll have to carry or pull your bike up. I'm 37 and in decent shape and I was able to drag my bike up by myself, but it also wasn't easy there's loose rock which makes it harder. This part would be easier if your hiking with no bike.

Outstanding trails, although a little short. There were sections worth a session or two. Watch for the rattlers though!

Great trail system and 45 min NW of Albuquerque. Medium skill level mountain bikers and higher will enjoy the area. Amazing landscape and scenery. Dirt road can be rough especially when wet or after rain/snow.

Great place to hike. Has trails for all range of skill from easy to severe. Wonderful natural formations and has history of dinosaur fossils found here including seismoursaures.

You can hike the trails too. Amazing views. Almost 1000 feet of elevation over a 9+ mile hike. The change in landscape and environment is second to none and a 2.5 hr hike.

While considered bike trails, you will definitely see geologists hiking around. Reservation land is not far, so make sure not to tresspass. Some of the ridges can be brittle and rattlesnakes are found within the center of the valley. The bump in the middle is inactive old geyser, but you can find active spots.

I don't do any mountain biking, but luckily that's far from all you can do here! The hiking, running, and backpacking is fantastic here. This area features some of the craziest geology I've ever seen. It's absolutely stunning, and feels almost alien at times. There are a good amount of geological features further in that you might not expect, and are really fun to explore. I won't get specific, though, as I think people will get a lot more out of this place if they find them themselves. Just remember to stay on trail for the most part. There are signs telling visitors this, but I'll say it as well, the ground in some areas is made of cryptobiotic crust which is an important part of the ecosystem. It helps prevent erosion. Google what it looks like to make extra sure you aren't destroying it!

My son and I were hiking the White Mesa Bike Trails specifically the dragon spine section and equestrian ATV and mountain bike loop. During our return back to the parking lot on the equestrian trail we took at least 4 rounds of fire from the west side of the trail system with 1 round coming within maybe 25 ft from my son. We immediately ducked for cover as several more rounds flew over us. We then made our way to a rock formation to take cover, call 911 to report it and give our location. We were able to see off to the west an individual in a black SUV shooting in an area that didn't look like a designated shooting area. We were able to run from cover to cover until We made it back to parking but we came feet from being seriously injured or killed and thought people should know. We never saw police and the shooting continued by this individual as we made our way back to the parking area. Having said that, I'm a 2A supporter of gun rights but I have never been on public lands hiking and had to dodge rounds and run for my life.

Very fun! I'd call it a blue diamond. Hard, but doable for more experienced riders.

Beautiful trails going several ways. They're mostly bike trails but you can hike. Dog friendly but bring lots of water. Two picnic tables but no other amenities.
