Last night my friend was assaulted by security for stepping on the stage reserved for girls (he was unfamiliar with this rule). With no warning he was tackled by multiple security guards and pinned to the floor for no reason. I was also grabbed up for telling them to get off him. Security is on an absolute power trip at this establishment, and I think a lawsuit is in their future. If it were me, you’d be hearing from my attorney. This security here is a joke. And that 5 foot 9 little man who likes to put his hands on people should be looking for a new job. Edit: the response below is COMPLETELY FALSE. No such words were exchanged with my friend who was tackled. He was on the stage for less than 15 seconds before being tackled. I’d love to see the footage of this incident to prove it. You all have ZERO accountability and downplay/fabricate stories to justify your inexcusable actions. Someone is going to get hurt and this business will suffer greatly.

I was never asked to leave or given any warning. I was tackled from behind and chocked out. I asked what for and even started to tap out I was not resisting. The security guard said there is no tapping out. This security guard is literally looking to hurt someone. I would have gladly left if asked.

Homophobic and racist YOU ARE NOT SAFE HERE!! mark is caused by security… edit to add: I woke up the next morning with marks around my neck like this. They had no basis for strangling me to the ground. I hadn’t put my hands on anyone. They caused my glasses to get broken that night too. We tried to press charges, but because we did not visit the hospital there was not a firm basis for the case. The security is ruthless, they came for me from behind. I still remember every moment, I’m traumatized.

Group of four eating. I hand the chicken wrap. Very good. :) The others had meals with fish. They all said the fish was over cooked. :( The place was empty at lunch, yet, the stereo was running at 200 mph. Pepsi

Grilled chicken sandwich. Very good sandwich with tomato, lettuce, red onions, pickles, bacon. Fries were my side item. Service could have been a bit better but overall no complaints.

What an awesome place this is. I love the atmosphere with all the different rooms and the pool tables and the people they have Manning the doors are incredibly wonderful. The servers are awesome. The music was right on. Would definitely come back

Other than the bathrooms needing deep cleaning. Had a great time on a date with my girl. Mostly twenty something crowd. Great playlist from the cover band. Everyone was having a blast. Bartenders were doing their best to keep up. Definitely earned their money.

Do not ever visit this establishment. I was physically assaulted and grabbed by the throat by security and dragged out of the bar for dancing with my friends. I did nothing to anyone and I was all of the sudden grabbed and dragged out of the bar. I am traumatized by this interaction and left the bar sobbing when I have never had an experience like this in my life. Security told me as they were carrying me out that they could choke me out until I passed out when the entire time I was crying while I was being dragged out and not resisting being told to leave. Additionally, my friends were assaulted and dragged out by their necks as well when they tried to explain that I did not do anything.

We love Gerstles. The atmosphere is wonderful, the staff is great & really friendly. They're on top of things. I'm a huge Vikings fan, and this is our Louisville gathering spot on Sundays.

I had not visited this place in nearly 20 years. My girlfriend's daughter was celebrating a 21st birthday and I went with them. Definitely has changed! They had a live band early on and transitioned to a DJ later. The place was easily 90% people in their 20s, which is definitely different from the last time I was there LOL. As the night wore on, the place became VERY crowded so if you are into something more laid back, this may not be for you. Especially weekends. The service was pretty good considering how busy they were, drinks were on point and prices cheap. The only real negative was the door guy being super aggressive about IDs, wanding and making everyone empty their pockets as if it was 2001 again. It was a bit of a buzz kill honestly. Don't know when I'll return, but now I know where everyone who used to come to the Highlands is going!

I don’t usually write reviews but one of the security guards was extremely rude! I’m not sure what the cops name was, but he forced my friend and I to stand outside (waiting for our Uber). Meanwhile, it was like 40 degrees!!! I talked to one of the other security guards and he said that the guy that “forced us to go outside” was probably on a “power trip”. I’m usually pretty lenient with workers, as I know what it feels like to work a late shift. Let’s make better decisions, guys.

Yay, they finally replaced the felt on their pool table! Nice laid back spot to grab some drinks. Unless you come on Friday or Saturday night, then it's a party. Take your pick.

They are rude and said girls only on stage when security is men and he's clearly gay. (My friend) There's no signs posted and nobody's said anything ALL SUMMER but now he can't be on stage. That's who drove me here tf. That's who i dance with . If you're homophonic say that.* all summer long i was a girl that was there and never had any issues or was told that. The security actually can't deescalate a situation. You all could handle things like a professional business.

We've been coming to Gerstles here and there for a few years. They have the Vikings games on always and it's a great time. If it is game day, get there early and be patient with service!

My first time, stopped in after work it was a little late and the staff was great, safe environment, very clean. Did some dancing they had a DJ. I did not get to order food so I will for sure be back to dine. Thanks for a good time.

Always a good time! Bartenders were friendly, had live music but was still able to hear myself and have a conversation. Food was better than expected, enjoyed the spicy flavors.

It was too cold to stay outside so I sat at the bar and had a good conversation about the invasion in Ukraine with the bartender. I was also pleasantly surprised that happy hour is from opening until 7 PM. My West Sixth IPA was only $3.00! I'll be back!

Bartenders are friendly, live music was fun, crowd wasn't overly crazy until later on in the night when it got packed. My ordered drinks were priced good and even using well liquor everything tasted great.

Best burgers and bartenders in Louisville. The staff here is incredible, they treat you like family and you can tell the regulars here really are. The food is literally amazing. We have never had anything here we didn’t think was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend the beer cheese & pretzels or the burgers. They are social distance friendly, plenty of room outside to enjoy the sunshine and watch the game with space heaters and fire pits to keep you warm. It’s a great place to get out while still staying safe. Cannot recommend enough!

Awesome place to grab a bite to eat and a drink! Super friendly staff and good food. Wasn't too busy on a Sunday night, perhaps since the Vikings weren't playing but there was some good live music! Would definitely recommend giving Gerstles a try! Brandon was an awesome bartender too!

Great place to hangout on a Saturday night. I personally like the fact that I have the option between chilling out and chatting with friends without the loud music OR hitting the dance floor and jamming out to some great dance tunes.

Excellent atmosphere in the heart of St Mathews. The fish was crisp and tasty. And the server was excellent.

Speakers blew out on Derby weekend. Bouncers let everyone in except the people that waited in line for an hour. I'm writing this review as i wait in line to get 1 drink at the bar, has taken an hour. Definitely explore any other bar in Louisville besides this one. You'll save way more time than you'll ever even realize was possible. Gross service. They're offended you even show up.

Recently renovated. Nice inside. Has tables outside as well in 2 areas. Prices reasonable. Service was lacking. Had to get someone to wait on me. Live music. Small parking lot but strip mall across the street you can park.

Staff makes this place. Good beer prices and quick service. I felt I paid a fair price and can’t come up with any complaints. Solid 4. This is a Louisville institution you can’t give it a bad review.

Cool vibes. We sat inside where the band was. I asked for the monthly beer special and when I got the bill I had been receiving the wrong thing all night so didn't get the special price. Was quite disappointed by this.

Nice place to listen to live music in Louisville. Great bands, excellent sound man on staff, service from bar staff is great. See you there.

Everybody knows the owner Erik White is a horrible human being, but the manager David Sharp is the real piece of work. David acts like a nice guy, but has no honor, is a lier, and will stab you in the back in a second to advance his agenda.

A fun and exciting spot. I always seem to have a good time. The best part is how cheap the drinks are! The dj isn't always the best, and some songs are played every time I go, but overall I enjoy it.
