This has the laziest people. They have a call center so the the people in the doctors offices can sit on their bottoms. I watched a women sitting doing nothing. Must be nice ! They had no clue about a referral that had been sent to them. They called me to let me know they had gotten from my doctor. They had no clue who called me . They then gave me a phone number for someone in billing? Didn't know billing took care of referrals?? It is also there patience fault that they had gotten hacked. 2 weeks is way to long for their systems to be down. Thos hospitals and offices SUCKS!!!

I have been following news reports of this hospital, and although I have never been here, I say shame on the medical "professionals" for letting humans that need care get dumped off by security across the street. How sad that this hospital is the closest option for many. I work in the medical field and understand the stress and dilemmas... But you always put those in need first, and you follow up to make sure their aftercare is handled properly. Makes me sad that there are people in this world that feed off of the laziness of their coworkers, in a field that is meant to serve people.

My wife gave birth to our son and while we have been here for several days the nurse that we had was great!! Almost every nurse we have talked to or met has been great to my wife and me always providing help for her needs. However the part me and my wife did not like AT ALL was some of the nurses in the NICU. As if we didn't have enough stress as is some of the nurses we felt was judgemental and very rude. We did not want our son to be bottle fed because we don't like formula or what we heard about it. But my wife told them hey we aren't sure if it matters or not but we got him to latch the previous night. Nurse: no it doesn't matter, I will feed him at 11am and 2pm and if you want to come at 5pm to feed him you can try. My wife: no I prefer him not to be fed formula. I want him breastfeeding. Nurse: .....okay Again everyone else was great it was just the NICU nurses that we experienced that could've been more understanding and less judgemental. They don't know what people are experiencing or have experienced to judge or be less to them. Thank you everyone during this difficult time to be nice and taking time to check on my wife.

The absolute worst hospital I have ever encountered. The nurses were the most unprofessional ridiculous acting humans I have ever came across. Their attitude was nothing short of embarrassing to the healthcare profession. They behaved like animals. Screamed, and talked about patients where you could hear them. What a shame and disgrace to have staff like this. I would never set foot back in this hospital. And the least of their concerns was it was nasty. Absolutely nasty! Something needs to be done at this facility.

The day that I had my surgery was not what I had expected. I had to arrive at 5:30 am and I was greeted by a very rude lady at registration. I told her my name and said I’m here for registration and said, you can’t register until 5:30am, mind you others had already registered before me and it was 5:27. So she proceeded to say some other things in which I couldn’t hear, but my husband had relayed to me on what she said. Another lady had called my name to double check my demographics and insurance info and she apologized for the lady prior to her. Next they sent me to another room where I was the second in the room. She kept skipping over me, so my husband went up to ask why she hadn’t called my name. She rudely replied, “it’s not your turn.” She kept saying it depended on what surgery you were having to determine the order. She came back to us about 15 minutes later stating that she had forgotten about us, but please forgive. I then get onto the surgery suite and I was having a rough time actually dealing with being put under. Anyone who knows me knows that I hate anesthesia. I’m assuming someone said something to the assistant manager of the floor and she came to talk to me. I want happy with her attitude either. She kept insisting that my family was making me do something that i didn’t want to do. I FIRMLY assured her she was wrong!! So now I’m in recovery and this young man who I assume was there to help me wake up was playing on his phone. He kept saying you need to wake up and I said I’m not feeling well. Dr Lin came in and was checking on me and he kept saying to look at him and I tried. I told him the young man was just playing on his phone. So now I’m back in the surgery suite where I started and the nurses were so rude. All they were interested in doing was trying to rush me to get up. I told them I was feeling strong enough to sit up, much less get dressed. I felt like they were just rushing me along. This whole process was like rushing a cow down an assembly line. I thank God for Dr Lin and I appreciate him. The nurses could take a class in bed side manners. If I have my second surgery, I can promise you it will not be at Norton’s.

Nurses don't care about patients or about doing their jobs. My mother was without food or drink for 3 days and when I asked about IV fluids because she was dehydrated they told me the Drs had 3 different orders for 3 different IV meds and since they didn't know what IV to give her they decided to give her nothing instead of asking the Dr what one she was supposed to have. It has been nothing but a headache out of the staff any time she is admitted.

On September 2nd my fiance had a stroke. He was admitted ti ICU where he received top notch care. I am so Thankful to Dr. Isles, Vanessa Hearn, the entire 4F unit and 4C unit. The speech therapist, Dr. Isles medical assistant Chyrelle, Ms.Tina, and so many others. Ma. Debbie the assistant who bathed him Ms. Margaret another one of his nurses. So many.. I recommend this hospital to anyone and everyone who needs to have their loved one treated like a person. Treated humanly and lovingly. Thank You Norton Hospital 4F & 4C units. I will never forget any of you!!!!! I would like to also send a special thanks to Nurse Tina. I will never forget how living, kind, caring, and compassionate she was to both of us

This place is horrible. No idea where to park, no signs. Then, after wandering the streets and parking garage, for 20 minutes, we finally found an entrance! Of course, after a 2 hour drive, one MIGHT need to use the restroom. Once we made it in, there was no restroom to be found. But there was a lady at a desk who seems to guard the restrooms with her life. When asked where the restroom is, she asked if we were visiting someone, and we played a strange guessing/riddle game for a bit, and then I must have gotten one right because she gave me a pass to the restroom. Then I was off on another quest to actually find the restroom. After some more searching, and asking a guy in the hallway, I FINALLY found the restroom! We haven't even made it in to visit the patient we are here to see and it has been this miserable! If I'm ever sick, I would rather die, than be admitted here!

Had to pull the plug on my grandpa today. They let a family go up there to say goodbye together yesterday. They refused to let our family go up together to say goodbye. They also let some lady have her dog in her room but OUR family couldn't see our DYING grandpa. Worst hospital I've ever been at. Workers are rude and not welcoming.

Do not go to Norton hospitals emergency room. While the staff and care is great they out source the ER to Southern Emergency Medical who's billing department is awful. Whether you have no insurance or are completely covered they will cause you problems for months or longer. They will mess up the coding (which they won't fix) causing your insurance company issues and then if your insurance takes longer than they want they will send you threatening letters and even send a small amount to collections even though you have insurance proving you are covered. They are impossible to get on the phone and when you do get them they are completely rude. If you google this company you will see that there are other patients with the same issues. It such a shame that a great hospital uses such a horrible ER contractor which does not care about the patients.

My oldest brother passed downtown Norton January 2nd. His daughter and wife couldn’t act like adults and leave me alone. Then a nurse asked me to leave. That is just terrible but I got to at least get there to see him before he died. I told my brother Will I loved him and he said he loved me too. Before my husband died he had 1 liver surgery and 2 brain surgeries at Norton. I have never been more disappointed in the nurses reaction to me that day my brother passed. Floor 4, section 4B. The male nurse with the little disgusting ponytail.

This place is terrible. The doctor my father has is great but the hospital is terrible. I understand they have policies they have to follow. But when I'm bringing food for my mother who has stayed with my dad for two nights and they won't let me take my 13 year old daughter with me to the room and expect me to leave her downstairs is ridiculous. When I brought my father, I had to be let in by security because I got turned around and the officer talks to a homeless person they are letting sleep in the main lobby and laughing and joking with said person. But a patients son cannot be let in to see his father or take his mother food is so unprofessional. Speaking of unprofessional this place is so filthy that I couldn't even use the public restroom. I know this review will not mean anything to a company this size but it should, when your 1 stars almost outweigh your 5 stars there are major issues that need addressed. People of Southern Indiana and Kentucky if you can please find Healthcare elsewhere.

2 guile is the one of the worst. They have not given my brother the proper care that he needs. The nurses are sitting at their stations playing on their phones and/or talking to someone who is not part of the hospital team. My brother puts on his call light and they either won't answer or they get his requests then ignore it. So if you have a love one in Nortons you will have stay on top at all times

Absolutely worst hospital around, staff is very unprofessional. Ask the nurse for ice for my dad 2 hours go by no ice. Look out the door to see the nurse standing in the hallway texting on her phone. Ask for ice again and dinner for my dad, said she forgot. Now it's been another 1 hour, still nothing.

Small dark rooms, inadequate nursing care by inadequately experienced nursing staff. No contact with my MD for orders when I was very ill due to anesthesia. Was told I had used all the orders written for me concerning medication and Pharmacy would not deliver more. Now today I get a collection letter for 2 bills. I paid in Feb. On the day I received them. I will never darken the doors there again. Nor will I refer others there. Sadly Barb Rumple

I delivered my last child here, this is my 3rd baby. And I have to say it was probably the best experience. My first child I delivered at U of L, my second at Norton Suburban. At Suburban they did a terrible job administering the epidural, including the head anesthesiologist, so I was very afraid to get it again. But the anesthesiologist did a fantastic job at Norton downtown, she told me how I would feel with each thing she did and she did it perfectly. All of the nurses I had were pleasant, helpful, and made me feel so comfortable. The food here was delicious. The only cons I saw, firstly, was the second room that we stayed in with our baby was quite small, the smallest of all the rooms I stayed in after the deliverance of my children, but it was manageable. Second the noises made on the outside of the room we could definitely hear, and there was a lot of “band alert” multiple times but I guess that falls on the parents who were removing them or something. Despite this I truly felt I got more sleep here than at the other hospitals, there were even times where they came back at a later time to do vitals or whatnot because we were sleeping. And lastly, the showers were very odd. Apparently the bathrooms were newly remodeled, it was set up with no “lip” so all the water would just come out of the shower and go onto the floor. The shower was a decent size, but the water pressure and hot water weren’t the best. I guess that’s standard at a hospital? Other than those, I had great care & a great stay at Norton, but I am glad to be back home

I am sure there are wonderful docs and nurses at this hospital but after our recent experience we will never go back. I took my husband to emerg room on Oct 17, 23 around noon. He had slurred speech an hour earlier. When we arrived there were three security guards and a police officer and a full waiting room. The security seemed to be a normal thing as there was no commotion in the waiting room. After telling them I was pretty sure my husband has a stroke, we were told to sit and wait. They called him up for a brief evaluation by a young nurse at a desk. She took his blood pressure, asked him to squeeze her hands and maybe lift his arms. There was very little done as triage. Was told to sit back down. We waited for quite a while no one was being called back and things seemed at a standstill. Knowing that with stroke symptoms time is of the essence, I asked the police officer what was taking so long and she said she would ask on our behalf. She went in the back. When she came back she said the doctor in the back said he didn't think my husband had a stroke. That doc never saw my husband or talked to him. I told the police officer we are leaving. We got up and I walked him across the street to Jewish ER. The waiting room was also full with one security guard. I told the gentleman at the desk I though my husband had had a stroke. Within minutes he was in a private triage area with three people. Then he was immediately taken back into the ER and and put on a bed. They didn't have a room in a private area for us but it didn't matter because they were paying attention to him. We knew he was safe there. From the bed in the hall they did blood work, urinalysis, xray, ekg, CT and ordered am MRI, which was all done within hours. He was admited later that day. The MRI proved he had had a pons stroke (brainstem). We spent the next 3 days at Jewish where the care and staff was exemplary. I can't say enough about how organized Jewish was. If this had been more serious or if he had had a second stroke while at Nortons, I am not sure what the outcome would have been. You have to be your own advocate. Trust your instincts.

Received call my room was ready but when I got here no one seemed to know what procedure to follow. Nurse said doctor’s fault. Registration clerk said she didn’t know how long transportation would take so we walked to my room. Two nurses could not put in IV. Third nurse got it on second try. I’ve never had trouble before. Right arm restriction bracelet not available. Missed dinner. Was served dried out chicken tenders and cold fries. By the time Nurse got IV done I was delayed going for test until 11:30 pm. Transporter was worried because I didn’t have on hospital footies. He found a pair for me. Around 1:30 am I requested a snack. Aide, or nurse, brought individual graham cracker packets, half were open. 9/23 Nurse called my daughter for release for treatment. She was entered as guardian instead of emergency contact. It alarmed both of us. Water was not replenished. I thought drinking water was important after dye used during test? I was dropped from transportation schedule and was approximately one hour late for procedure. When I returned to room I was hooked up to monitor which kept beeping. Nurse showed me how to push button to shut it off. Is that the patient’s responsibility? It kept sounding. Nursing student told me it was because I held my hand too high and sensor probably sensed my hand was cold and mistook that for low oxygen. After shutting it off several times and after its sounding for 15 minutes without anyone checking on it I disconnected it and rolled it out in the hall. I could not cope with the noise and wondered why no one checked on me. I was hungry because I basically had nothing to eat since lunch the previous day at home. Nurse had orders changed and gave me two packs of crackers. Dietary came to my room and took dinner order. He was asked to bring me something to eat. He gave me a pack of Lays chips. I again requested food and nurse brought me leftover meals…..cold and horrible. Water from previous day was still in pitcher and I had to ask for fresh. Nurse said the two towers are short staffed. Shouldn’t they be closed? My bathroom was filthy when I as admitted. Fecal spots around toilet. I had to ask for toilet tissue which was not supplied until I called housekeeping supervisor. She instructed housekeeper to reclean room including replenishing toilet tissue. The bathroom floor was so dirty I had to wipe my feet off at my bedside after washing up. Supervisor said one of the spots was a stain. I suggested that wasn’t a sanitary look for the hospital. A major concern for me is not only the lack of cleanliness of the hospital and insufficient nursing care, but also the lack of communication. It lessens patient confidence and peace of mind. I have never witnessed such lack of professional patient care and lack of organization in a hospital.

The suregon was about the only good part of this experience as he provided great service and was caring. The rest of it was not, the part that stood out to me the most was that it required talking to four different people over 2 days before the home medication my mother took was finally acknowledged and put into their system.

No urgency to be seen. None. High risk, 35+ weeks pregnant. Situation occured, reported to my doc office, was told to go to OB ER. The OB ER Dept refuses to see me until I was cleared by the regular ER. The regular ER has zero urgency to see me. I am waiting to be seen, something could be wrong. Been here over an hour. I told them I am high risk and was instructed by doc to go to OB ER. They said I have to be cleared here before they can allow me to be seen there.

Sydney was the nicest person I have ever encountered in the ER. Her bedside manner was the sweetest and she went over and beyond for me. The doctor listened to me and moved forward with treatment that works for me. The nurse helped me through getting a shot. This was the best experience I have ever had at Norton ER. They are really knowledgeable and I like how registration called me to get me registered instead of coming to my room.

Had some chest pain, shortness of breath. Unless coming by ambulance AVOID Nortons downtown ER at all costs!!!! No outside entrance or parking. Walk in and have to get tagged by attendant to ‘visit’ ER then go down two floors and walk about 300-400 ft of hallways to find an ER entrance. Then to be told at the desk, by a security guard to take a seat and wait. I did. And then I left …..

The Doctors, Nurses and support people in ICU and regular care are fantastic. Attentive and professional.... But... The nutrition area is absolutely ridiculously terrible. My diabetic husband who was in ICU after open heart surgery couldn't get meals on time... If at all! Breakfast was sometimes as late as 10:30 or 11 am then one day breakfast didn't come at all and he did not get lunch until2:30! So he went 20 hours without food while recovering from surgery. Nurses called nutrition and were told to give him some crackers or a snack. He was finally fed after 20 hours and 5 phone calls! I feel this chaotic food schedule is placing his health and recovery at risk. Come on. Where is patient care in this area?

I have been a patient of Nortons for over 30 years. I've had all 3 of my children there and almost all Doctors have been through Norton's. I've had 2 surgeries there so far in my life and I have to say, they have been competent, compassionate and faithful to care for me in a respectful and knowledgeable way. Every place has workers who are overworked or who dont wanna work, areas that we could find unclean at a certain time. However, looking at my overall 30 year, 3 children, 2 surgeries, countless doctor visit, specialists visits, OBGYN care, food, culture, doctors, nurses, staff, surgeons, anesthesia, shots, blood draws, hours of work and care they have put into me; I have to say THEY HAVE DONE SOME AMAZING WORK AND ARE INCREDIBLY SMART AND CAPABLE PEOPLE! I am gonna stick with them.

During my first night stay at Norton’s following a spinal fusion, the overnight staff were absolutely amazing!! Danielle and Latoya genuinely cared about my comfort and we had a few laughs which was uplifting under the circumstances. These two individuals were AMAZING!!!

Nisha, Christina, Pam and Grant, all did great. As for the rest… my room was only cleaned once in four days. They would forget about my meds, then not hook up my leg pumps to prevent blood clots, my daughter did that most of my stay there. I was released two days after two spinal surgeries. They forgot about the Walker that was ordered for me and discharged me before I could even do a number 2. I never ordered food they just brought whatever to me. I have eight holes in my arms and hands from IVs along with a huge black bruise from where a vein blew in surgery. Never talked to my surgeon after either procedure.

My husband died at Norton Hospital. In my opinion, his doctors and nurses did him a great disservice. His "team" of doctors did not communicate with each other or with him; he was given a different diagnosis/prognosis on a daily (sometimes hourly) basis. I was told on a Friday that he was all set for therapy on Monday, but when we arrived, the doctor very coldly told us that he would not administer the therapy. The doctor did not even look at my husband, he just said he wouldn't do it, turned around and walked away. Some of the nurses were compassionate, others not so much. The nursing assistants who conveyed him to another room in another part of the hospital (with no explanation and little warning) literally *ran* his gurney as though it was a go-kart as I trailed behind trying unsuccessfully to keep up with them and begging them to slow down. Their response was to laugh at both of us, making sarcastic remarks about his condition. When I reacted to their callous behavior (a muttered, despairing "Jesus Christ!"), the nurse in charge called *me* out and demanded an apology from *me* -- totally insensitive to my husband's pain and my own bewildered concern. It has been a year and I still relive the last horrific hours of my husband's life every day.

I would make the 1 hour drive EVERY time to come here we had to bring our baby to the ER and we REFUSED to bring him to baptist hardin anymore after they referred to him as “ that black baby “ … Nortons children ER exceeded our expectations they treat him with care and love and was very efficient!! They were so kind and so sweet and I absolutely recommend taking your kids here ♥️

Refuses to give me copies of my MRIs that I paid thousands of dollars to have done. The medical records department has not responded to countless emails and calls. I want to see a non-norton provider but they won't see me without copies of my MRIs which Norton refuses to provide. They want you to be stuck seeing their providers.

It’s sad that I even have to give the hospital a star. They are the worst hospital in Louisville. Rude staff negligent to their patients and has the worst labor and delivery unit I have ever seen. Sad they can treat people the way they do and still able to operate

I was admitted to Nortons Hospital downtown on 5S floor and I had two of the most amazing nurses I've ever met. Sending a special shout out to Nurse Ann Rogers and Ligaya Maturan for they're amazing help and going over and above to assist me and my family over and over again. To Ann Rogers don't let anyone ever dim that brighter light you have!!!!

I gave birth to my daughter here and the nurses were good for the most part and doctors aswell . BUT after I had my daughter , it was horrible . They left me in the room that i gave birth in Because the postpartum room was to small since my fiancé was with me . They left tons of blood underneath my bed and they didn’t change my sheets the only time they came to clean is when we got ready to leave . another situation is my daughter got choke on her milk and stopped breathing of course I call on the nurses and when they came in they just looked at her and told me “ this is to be expected” since my daughter has trisomy 13 , I revived my daughter on my own just by simply patting her on the back . I recommend never EVER delivering your child her .

The cancer center where my father had chemotherapy put him into a coma, proceeding with chemotherapy while saying he caught covid at their hospital is ignorant. I have no idea why a hospital would continue chemo.... oh yea, they like to dry out the insurance you have, money, money, money, that's what it's all about.I would not recommend anyone to this hospital. If you go there keep your faith, its all you'll have in that place.

The regard for fathers in this hospital is shameful. The only two times my existence was acknowledged was to bill me and to make me sign papers that I won't shake my baby. I suppose they reflect society's irrationally low opinion of fathers and males in general. They do it so well it leaves a lifetime of resentment.

The staff is really nice that's all. We stayed all night long in the ER when I have kids at home that need me all night! And all they did was give some cream they could have done that hours ago knowing we had a long drive and had no sleep for 24 hours!
