I would give zero stars if I could. I had been going to 20/20 eyecare for years and absolutely loved the doctors and the staff. Now that it has become Clarkson, it has went completely downhill. The staff have no idea what they are doing. After looking at eyeglasses for about 45 minutes and seeing seven employees sitting around doing absolutely nothing, I decided to ask for an opinion on the glasses I was looking at. Horrible patient service if you ask me. I was never once asked if I needed help. I was going to order both contacts and glasses on the day of my visit but ended up leaving with nothing. The office staff refused to order anything for me despite the fact that two different employees looked up my benefits and still couldn't understand what my benefits were. They were content that what my insurance covered was not what was actually covered. They told me that my benefits might say that they cover something but they really don't! What?! I'm not sure how they came to this conclusion. I was told that the manager would call me regarding my benefits. I went home immediately and called my vision insurance company. Behold, I was correct on what they covered which was pretty black and white but the staff still refused. I never did receive a call from the manager. A week later I picked up RX's and ordered contacts elsewhere. I will go elsewhere for my glasses as well. I'm pretty sure that I was overcharged for my eye exam also. I will cross that bridge when I receive my EOB. Did I mention that I was overcharged last year and had to request a refund? Needless to say, I will NEVER return to Clarkson. So in response to this review, Cassie (the owner) left an e-mail address for me to get in contact with her. I emailed her.......6 days ago! Just as I had figured, she has not responded nor reached out to me to discuss the above issues. Just like the rest of her staff- incompetent and takes no responsibility at all!

I've used this eye care center in the past when they were known as 20/20, and I had a great experience then. However, my recent visit after their transition to Clarkson Eyecare was disappointing. Doctor's Service: The doctor was professional and did their job well. Staff & Service: The staff assisting with glasses selection seemed more focused on upselling rather than catering to my needs. When I expressed my desire to use my insurance, they presented me with the cheapest frame options available. Comparatively, the quality was so poor that I'd argue some frames from gas stations were better. I then inquired about using my own frame and having my insurance cover the lens cost. The staff seemed unhappy about this and warned that if my frame broke during shipping, they wouldn't be responsible. However, if I bought a frame from them, it would be guaranteed safe. This felt like a pushy sales tactic to me. Final Product: After a wait of three weeks and a lack of communication on their part, I received my glasses. Unfortunately, the quality was so subpar that the glasses often reflected lights from behind, making them uncomfortable to use. Overall Impression: My impression was that if you're using insurance, they might not prioritize you. It felt like they were more about making money than ensuring customer satisfaction. Additionally, the staff's attitude gave off the vibe that they considered me 'cheap' for wanting to use my insurance, even though I sported a pair of $200+ Ray-Bans. Why have insurance if you're not going to use it?

Don't trust these guys. Both myself and family members have received unexpected and gratuitous bills in the hundreds of dollars months after getting an eye exam. If you go there, expect a $150 money grab in a few months

I had a fantastic experience at Clarkson Eyecare. Dr. Shelton is so nice to work with. She patiently explains everything and I feel that she is incredibly smart and knowledgeable. I also had an amazing time working with Daisy to pick out frames. Talk about patient! I think I tried on half the frames in the store, and Daisy made it so much fun! She gave me her honest opinion about how each pair looked, and I ended up with frames I love that also look good on me! She turned a chore into such a fun time that I felt like we were just hanging out. I would highly recommend this Clarkson Eyecare to anyone and everyone! Thanks Dr Shelton and Daisy!!

The facility is clean, and the staff I interacted with were professional. I came to get a checkup after having LASIK sometime ago. All of my questions about the process were answered. The reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because I was uncomfortable when the assistant continued to ask what my medications were for. They said “oh I’ve never heard of that”- That’s because it’s none of your business! I provided the name, which should have been sufficient. Any contraindications would be noted by my pharmacist and PCP. Other than that I enjoyed my experience, Dr. Hermann was nice and courteous throughout my visit.

Much better experience this year! After the service I received last year, I was not going to come back, but decided at the last minute since I already had an appointment to go ahead and keep it. I’m glad I did. The change in the staff, and the office flow has made a huge difference! Instead of being involved in their own conversations/drama, the new people I worked with today helped me pick the perfect pair of glasses and even save some money! So good job on the changes I will be coming back again next year for sure.

I arrived at my scheduled time, signed in, completed a small amount of required paperwork, and was called to the exam room within 5 minutes. Once I got into the examination room, my tests were done quickly. Everything was explained to me in a very professional and courteous manner. The entire staff treated me very well from the beginning to the end of my visit. HIGHLY recommend!

The girls were all so friendly. Actually cared about me and did what they could to help my migraines. The receptionist ladies even helped me pick out glasses and the girls from the back came out to essentially do a fashion show since I hate getting glasses! Highly recommend. Customer service can’t be beat!!!!!

Im not satisfied at all. The glasses I received here I didn't like(not good vision). After they remade it second time I decided to do return. After they said everything ok and I can start using my insurance in another place in 3-4 days I received a text message stated that I have unpayed balance and that my insurance already charged. When I came back to the store I was told that they payed me back for material but I still have to pay for eye exam.EYE EXAM DIDN'T WORK WITH MY GLASSES. EYE EXAM WHICH IS UNUSABLE FOR ME! I payed them 30 extra dollars for something I can not use. For something went wrong. Now, such my insurance already charged, I have to pay out of my pocket in another place because someone charged me for the service I'm not satisfied with, for something didn't work with me, something unusable. Payed it not for my glasses but just because they want so. Definitely going to check with my insurance company. Thank you for the worst experience in my life.

I fought traffic for 50 minutes to get to my appointment. Yes I was 10 minutes late. I talked to the young lady on the phone that I was stuck in Fern Creek Bardstown Rd Friday traffic and if I make the next green light I would be just in time for the supposed 10 minute grace period. I made the light. She told me I'm good. When I walked in the door, her opinion changed. I had to reschedule my appointment. I will not be back. I have three kids and a wife that will also not be back. I have an extended family that will never use Clarkson eyecare. I am a pretty influential guy, so I will let everyone I know of my Friday night experience with Clarkson eyecare.

I have been going to 20/20, now Clarkson Eye Care, at this same location for over 25 years. I walk in for my appointment to he told "oh we canceled your appointment because you made it a year ago and you did not call to confirm". When I said what call to confirm, they said we sent you a text. I replied, I never received a text. They said we no longer have your appointment available even though there was not 1 person in there besides me. Needless to say, I would not recommend this place. If it were still 20/20 and they treated people they way they did before they became Clarkson, I would recommend. Now, they just don't seem to care.

Everyone there was super professional and warm welcoming. They took time to listen to my questions and concerns, and they also took time to explain what they were doing and how they would determine my needs based on the different test. I feel very confident in every staff member I met at my first visit

I read the reviews before I went and I must say I did not find anything wrong. The staff was very courteous and professional. Just the opposite of the reviews I had read. Dr Shelton is great, very personable and easy to talk to. She explained everything in depth to my understanding. I highly recommend Clarkson!!

Doctor Shelton is excellent and working with her is easy. She answered my questions with clarity and patience. She made me feel good that my eyes are stable and haven't changed much from last year's exam. On the other hand, the optician side of the house seems to have lost a lot of practical knowledge since the last time I visited. Many of these folks in the current practice haven't yet acquired the second nature "touch" I've experienced with the former seasoned veterans that used to make fitting glasses seem easy. I'm confident the necessary experience will be gained with more practice. I highly recommend Dr. Shelton and this practice.

Exam was great but when I picked up my glasses tey stood me at the counter never sat me at a station and checked fit or anything- just said come back if you need them adjusted! In and out the door in 5 minutes!

Excellent experience every time! Dr. Shelton and staff are extremely patient, helpful, considerate and professional. This was the first time I had to bring my wife in using a transport chair for both of our appointments. She suffers from Dementia Alzheimer's but they easily accommodated us and provided outstanding service to us both!

I really like Clarkson Eyecare. I have been going there for many, many years....when it was 20/20 eyecare. The staff is great and I really like my doctor, Andrea Shelton. She is very thorough and caring. The recent remodeling is so nice.

I've been going here for a long time for my eyeglasses, back when it was 20/20. I was always happy then. I hate to leave a bad review. The staff are nice and polite but the lab they use, pitiful. Ordered 2 pair of glasses. First pair I received 3 days later. It's been more than six weeks and the lab is still processing my second pair. Three weeks ago I called to see what the status is, I was told that they made an error and had to start over so were putting a rush on the order. Today, seems they just got started 5 days ago...what a joke since going from 20/20 to Clarkson. Guess it's time to find somewhere else to go from now on as I'll most likely not be returning.

Pleased with the care of Dr Shelton. She took time to address concerns & answer questions. Haily provided excellent customer service, helped me pick out some funky frames & worked to maximize my allotted benefits. All of the staff was very friendly!
