Absolutely shocking. I pick this place because of the reviews and photos. But don't get fool, this place is everything but not what is on the photos. First, cold and smelly as they seated us on the front of the kitchen. And you are pointing front window which looks like hasn't been cleaned in 30 years. Table 50cmx50cm so after bucket with flowers I gave to my wife and bottle plus glass of water took a place there, there wasn't a space for comfortable eating or your drinks. Next, starters. Bruschetta came cold. First bite and it was burnt and bitter. It was like eating charcoal. Then mains. Pasta I ordered did looks good, too big portion, but tasted like caned spaghetti mixed with extra tomato paste. Quite sour and accidic. My wife's main totaly unedible. Pan-fried grouper, with roasted potatoes or vegetables was drowned in brot like liquid and so accidic that I could not swallow that first bite. Only that waitress served us that night was quite good and she tried everything to make us more comfortable, so thank you for your help I really appreciate it. But the food and place itself ๐Ÿ‘Ž

Lovely Italian restaurant in Petone. The service is fantastic with the waiters very knowledgeable about food and wine pairings. Every single dish we ordered was delicious and tasted authentic. Weโ€™ve since been back another time and easily recommend this restaurant to friends. Really good entrees such as the calamari and the mains are not only delicious, but large portions. After all of this, despite the full stomach, youโ€™ll want to get the tiramisu to finish things off. The first time we went, they also had this incredible cake (see photos) but itโ€™s not on the menu. Hopefully they bring it back again!

Absolutely perfect. Went for an early meal, enjoyed the bread to start which was fresh out of the oven, pasta dishes for main, cooked al dente with beautiful flavours and aromas and the atmosphere was very authentic. Definitely go again.

The two pasta mains we ordered, marinara and amatriciana came out with an identical sauce (really?) but it was also so salty we couldn't even get through the second bite. When we told the waitress she picked up our full plates, went away and never came back. After 25 minutes of not hearing anything we left, were charged full price and never heard from the manager or the chef. Seriously, so salty we couldn't even touch it. Very disappointed, horrible end to a great start after the guy that brought the entrees was so lovely. I do not recommend this place at all. Not because of the salty uneatable pasta, but because the staff couldn't have cared less about it. If you tip the salt shaker on the plate make a new one, or at least acknowledge the people that say something about it. Paula

3.75 stars. Excellent pasta but appetizer was undercooked (the kitchen did take them back and properly cook them, but seems to me roasting carrots should be pretty straightforward on the first try). Service wavered, especially when I went to pay. Server reviewed the bill with me (which I'm glad of, given what came next) and I noted I had been charged $10 for the carrots, rather than the $8 as marked on the menu. Server said, "We'll change the menu." I stared at her. "Okay," I said, and waited. "Oh, you don't want to pay $10?" she asked. "No. I absolutely do not want to pay $10!" "Oh okay." It was such an odd and unsettling exchange. I wonder how many dozens or more customers have been overcharged. The pasta was very good, as stated, but the overall feeling I had when I left was not pleasant and may prevent me from visiting the restaurant again. Possibly for takeaway only.

Best Italian in the Hutt ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น we came here for my 30th birthday dinner and I couldn't have picked a better place. We got seated in an intimate room next to a beautiful fire place, which was absolutely perfect in the middle of June. Highly recommend ordering the Brussel sprouts as a starter, they were amazing! For mains, three out of four of us ordered pasta dishes and the fourth ordered lamb. Everything was absolutely spectacular, and had that real Italian taste. I especially recommend the four cheese gnocchi, it was out of this world and I can't wait to go back and have it again. We hadn't yet found a stand out Italian restaurant in the Wellington region, but here it is! Highly recommend this place! Make sure you book ahead!

We had a group of four people, we had a wonderful dining experience! The food was not only delicious but also served with exceptional service. The gentleman who served us was incredibly knowledgeable about the wine selection and provided us with great recommendations. The warm and friendly welcome added to the overall positive atmosphere. Despite the small space, it felt cozy and intimate. I highly recommend this place for a delightful culinary experience. We all tried the special of the day which was ( The slow cooked beef pasta dish & the fish of the day on risotto) the best pasta dish we ever had. Decent portions and the divine dishes certainly made our night.

Excellent pear salad. Id eat that all day long. Great chicken penne. I switched penne for spaghetti. Want to try the meat balls when we go back. Chips where excellent. Won't get the dessert to take home next time will just have it there.

Went here with my wife for some dessert and tea on a rare childless night. The place has a really cosy, relaxed atmosphere which almost feels like you're eating at a friends house. The staff were very pleasant and seemed to be enjoying their work. Food came out promptly, was well presented and delicious. Couldn't really fault any part of the dining experience, would love to come back another time and have a full dinner.

I had been intending to visit Sopranos in Petone for some time and it didn't disappoint. The food and service were excellent and we loved all the little different spaces for dining. I also enjoyed the interesting decor. The prices were also very reasonable. I would honestly say that this was the best dining experience I have had for some time. Highly recommend!!

Cosy romantic back room table on a cold rainy night was the perfect set up for date night. The service was very prompt and food came soo very quickly . The calamari delicious and flavourful, we had the seafood pasta to follow which was OK not alot of seafood and the prawns were well over cooked and chewy we finished our meal with the flour less chocolate cake which was Devine and paired perfectly with the berry sorbet. Would go for a different main next time but the starter and dessert saved the meal.

Really lovely service and wait staff, we requested a booth seat for my elderly father and they met our request perfectly. Very cozy spot, and the food was great. Highly recommended.

We had a back room which I found much quieter than previous meals in the front of the restaurant. The staff were very helpful, and friendly. Great advice on wine choice and the food was delicious. Well deserved 5 stars

The food here ALWAYS delivers, from starters to desserts. I had the pasta of the day which was a thick pasta with slow cooked beef. It was divine with a great mix of textures crunchy crumbs on top with perfectly tender pasta and melted cheese and sauce. The tiramisu is a staple of my visits, a treat that has that sweet and bitterness , thoroughly enjoyable. The staff are always quite attentive and accommodating, however on this visit we asked to change tables because of a draught and got a bit of resistance. There weren't any other patrons seated at either of the two spots.Overall a great night as always.

We were staying in a hotel down the street and walked in without a reservation. We were able to get a table in the front room off the kitchen, which I gather from other reviews is not the most attractive part of the restaurant. But the food was amazing! We had the pear salad, the pappardelle manzo, and the flourless chocolate cake. All were absolutely delicious and reminded us of Bologna, where we had just been a year before. We were grateful to our hotel for the recommendation.

2 words....Crazy Good! Thanks to our host Anthony, The Chefs and crew for an outstanding Italian experience. Honestly the best Pasta I've tried. This restaurant is another great addition to the Petone food scene on Jackson. Unbelievable food, exceptional service and nice relaxed atmosphere. Thanks, we will be back for more!

I went here for my friend's birthday dinner and it was such a great experience! The food was well presented, full of flavour and had a range of food for different dietary requirements such as gluten free, vegetarian and vegan. It was also nice and warm due to the heaters being on yet to an appropriate level. The staff were also attentive and made sure our meals were up to standard while they were also really busy with other bookings. I would definitely recommend.

Seafood marinara should have been olive and caper marinara. Only had 1 prawn, 2 muscles and 1 baby octopus. $28.00 and it was awful. No apologies from the man in charge. Sad way to celebrate my wedding anniversary, It was horrible. Very upset. Came home to make toast!!!!!!

While I understand everyone has to start somewhere, our main server seemed very new and forgetful, maybe should still have been training with someone ... They mixed up many drink orders and forgot a few food orders. I also don't think my main was anywhere near worth the price, and others in my group had problems with their food too. It is an Italian restaurant, and nobody in my group who ordered pasta dishes had issues, so I would recommend sticking to that if you go here

Went here for first time and left a little disappointed. The table service was very good but got let down by the food. For starters the garlic bread lacked flavour. The Chicken gnocchi I had as a main was very salty which made it difficult to eat all of it. My daughter has a risotto dish and she said that hers was quite salty as well. I mentioned it to wait staff when dishes were cleared from the table but never got an explanation or apology when paying for meal. Hopefully a one off as it was a nice venue and friendly staff

Used to live in Petone and this restaurant was one of my favourites. Great that they have the extra dining space. Good choices of dishes and selection of wines. My risotto while reasonably tasty had the subtle flavours swamped with too much salt. And others in our party had the same issue with other dishes. Please don't be so heavy handed with the salt guys.... I might be back. Not sure....

Everyone except me loved the experience. I didn't enjoy myself as I got a super experience main however it was the size of an appetizer. I know that it was pork belly but it was a small portion of meat and the only accompaniments was a few tiny bits of kumara crisps and a squeeze of puree. So while my family were satisfied I left hungry despite paying the most.

Best Italian food I have had in a very long time. They were very busy on a Sunday evening and the place was lively and vibrant. The guy working front of house was great, amazing service especially when being so busy. My pasta was huge, only managed to eat half so would do the entree size next time. Will definitely be back next time we are in Wellington.
