I went there with my Canadian friend. She had recommended this restaurant , especially fish cakes. The waitress was misordered of my plate, not 2 fish cakes only 1 fish cake. A friend of mine was very sorry to take me the restaurant and she was quite sure that served beans were from cans. today I was told that the owner of the restaurant was recently changed. Bread and salted caramel coffee are quite good and worth to recommendation but staffs are awful not only professional but unkind. There are a lot of good tasty restaurant and bakery in Halifax. I don't feel to go this restaurant to meet unkind staffs at all.

Cute little place. The food was good, but a little pricey. They also had a little shop with some bakery items and you can also just get coffee to go there as well. Got the breakfast burger, ice vanilla latte they were both good. From the bakery area I got a cheesecake bomb and chocolate croissant, the chocolate croissant was very light and very good, the cheesecake bomb was very good as well. Definitely recommend eating it with another person

We lived in Halifax for years and this place was one of our favs, we recently went when visiting Halifax this summer and was really disappointed. The food was sub-par but the prices are crazy for a brunch. The coffee is still amazing but that's about it. I don't think we will be back, very disappointing.

A little bit out of the city as it’s off the Bedford highway but it’s worth the drive! Their brunch is delicious! Service is pretty good. They have a delicious selection of baked goods at the front of their store. I love that even their bread and biscuits that come with breakfast are made in house. Supper is also delicious, see pictures below!

Not what I was expecting. Food was so delicious. I ordered the cajun chicken sandwich. It was the juiciest, most flavorful sandwich I've ever had. Kettle chips are fresh and add a nice touch to the meal. Staff here are also very friendly. Pleasant atmosphere. I will definitely go back again when I come back to NS.

Cold rainy day, so I ordered hot chocolate, which arrived just over room temperature. We had the fish and chips (cod), which were ok, nothing to scream about. The small burger was overpowered by the locally smoked bacon, which was tough and rubbery. The food is as advertised. Edible. The waitress was polite, friendly, and attentive.10/10.

Although plenty of staff on hand, it took way too long to get a drink and breakfast sandwich. Server was more interested in petting the dog at her boyfriends table.

Edible Matters is a close neighbourhood choice for Brunch or Dinner. I have had both and it’s excellent. The menu is limited but what they do is excellent. They have some live music on certain nights, pub atmosphere works for a reformed bakery. Many times I frequent to just share appetizers.

I hadn't been to Edible Matters for a while, since the renovation, and when I visited recently it was really great! The tomato soup and sandwich was delicious (and affordable, the whole menu seemed fairly priced). Also the bakery case was full of so many good looking treats, we tried one of the cheesecake slices and it was super yummy, big enough for two to share with plenty for each! We made reservations before coming but it was not too busy at all anyway around dinner time on a Thursday night. I hope to come again to visit the cafe!

Love the renos they’ve done with the place over the years! We visited for the first time in ages and had fabulous meals (strawberry pancakes and eggs benny). 100/10 recommend adding sourdough bread with homemade jam and the iced latte to your meal. The servers are all very kind, and they have a great bakery and gift section to peruse after your meal. (Edited my previous review from 4 to 5 stars as from the owner's kind response they obviously made some changes - we had a perfect meal today and everything was efficient without feeling rushed. We can't wait to come back!)

My brother and I planned my mom's 60th surprise birthday party here and it was a huge hit! Food was delicious and the staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. Food was of a very high quality with fair pricing. Drink selection was great, atmosphere was very cozy and trendy. Live music was available and created a warm and social atmosphere. I would highly recommend giving this establishment your business as they work very hard to earn it.

Me and my brother had our mom's 60th surprise birthday here. Everything was amazing! The staff were helpful, organized, quick, and super friendly. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was great. I can not recommend this place enough. If you are planning an event or just looking for some reasonably priced delicious food this is the place. Also, the red velvet cake they made for the party was perfect.

The food is amazing and with Mark shucking, you are getting some cleanly dressed lovely oysters. This guy is a competitive shucker and you can taste the difference. From what he is serving to how he is serving it, this place is a delight!

Beer battered cod was delicious. Side ceasar salads not so much. A touch of romaine with what looked like spring mix, watery dressing and no garlic flavoring. One came without croutons. Pulled pork tacos were quite dry.

Went here for the first time and was pleasantly surprised by the whole place. Huge selection of items downstairs. The restaurant is lovely and cozy. Service was fast and very friendly. I had the grilled cheese with fries. Great fries and it was one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches I’ve ever had.

First time diner after hearing from others that the food and service at Edible Matters were not to be missed. I was very happy with both when I stopped with my wife as we were on our way to the Halifax airport. My entree, chicken curry with grilled chicken strips over basmati rice, was excellent. A satisfying, full meal for an affordable price. Highly recommended!! The adjoining market, although small, offers some excellent bread, pastries, sweets, and various artisanal foods. There is a coffee bar as well.

Visiting and touring Halifax area from Ontario. Stopped here for a bite to eat. Really good food! Came out hot and tasted home made, not the typical chain restaurant. Lots of parking. Also very accommodating. I currently use a cane to walk so they seated us at ground level so I didn't have to go upstairs to the main eating area. P.S. the pressed juice is delicious!

I really enjoyed this spot. I had the smoked salmon. Eggs Benedict. We had a big group and it came a bit cold, but tasted excellent! Service and atmosphere were top shelf.

Lovely night! Food was great. Staff were very good. Travis Hatcher played lovely acoustic songs, we even had a slow dance ❤️ Cupcakes and tea for dessert. Great quiet atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Stopped in looking for a quick meal and found a little haven of goodness. Lots of choice for adults and for kids, mostly pretty healthy, and some live music while we ate. The deli/bakery also seems really good, though we didn't sample much from there. Recommended.

A gem that's easy to pass by on Hammonds Plains Road, Edible Matters delivers next-level desserts, homemade and take-home meals, breads, veggies and a lovely retail section perfect for a thoughtful gift. On top of that, their dining room menu never disappoints and the patio is pure perfection in the summer.

Party of 6 went to brunch at EM today. Our waitress was professional and friendly The London Fog is highly recommended “best she ever had” I ordered the avocado poached eggs which were delicious but way to much food. The waitress did say it was hearty ! 🤤

Met friends here for brunch as one friend has a gluten allergy and this is one restaurant she knows she can depend on to eat GF without question. We all enjoyed our meals - definitely worth the trip over from Dartmouth!
