The entrances is free. The staff is really nice. The museum is small but worth it. Also, they have an amazing view outside.

Large collection of artefacts, paintings, and anecdotes about the history and the evolution of Luxembourg's identity. The museum is housed in the impressive Thungen Fort, which adds to its aura. Most of the displays are related to the various battles fought across centuries for the control of the Duchy. A good audio guide is available at the entrance Access is easy from the MUDAM tram station, parking at the Trois Glands, or can even walk from the old city through a walking trail.

Highly recommend! Went there for the Nuits des Musées. Enjoyed historians & guides excellent storytelling. Did the “Guided tours of the permanent collection and the casemates of Fort Thüngen” and also also another tour with Georges Christen, Luxembourg’s strongman. Kudos for making it fun and interesting.

Another good surprise in the center of the town. A museum with a wide variety of collections, maps, photos, paintings, and much more. The building and surroundings are already worth the visit. All for free!

Located inside Fort Thüngen, this museum hosts a permanent collection of items found in the surroundings. There are cannons, guns and even a guillotine. Also, you will find documents from different periods in the history and models of the city. It's free and it's worth a visit.

A really wonderful little museum in the heart of Luxembourg city, with artifacts from the city's rich history. Free entrance.

Nice museum. However, an extremely rude receptionist worked there for the 2 visits to the museum I made (in May and June 2023). My interactions with her have easily been the most unforthcoming experiences I have ever made in the museum industry. I mean, if you deny the toilet to a visitor who urgently needs it, there is something seriously wrong with you!

Inside Fort Thungen we have this fantastic local History and Arts museum. This museum presents a fantastic diversity of contents that help us to appreciate, in a chronological way, the evolution of the city of Luxembourg. It details a related merge between a strategic defensive and architecture perspective, the evolution of the military granary and the monarchic-political-religious aspects since its construction until it ceased to have relevance due to the loss of its intransposability from city growth and technological advances.

Definitely get the free audio guide! It is a great and very interesting museum, and the audio guide is excellent - very detailed but not boring. Easily spent 2 hours in here. There's no entry fee.

Very calm. Informative in depth on military history. Free on the day we went. Mostly in French and German. Some English. Definitely worth a stop alongside the MUDAM as they are next to each other.

Entry is for free. If you're a history nerd, this is it for you! If you're not, you might find the place boring. Can be done in 60 minutes if you take your time.

It may be free but without 1€ to store your bag you aren't going in. As some reviews state, man on the counter is not at all helpful The surrounding area is probably better than the visit from some of the other reviews as there are some lovely views

Astonishing building. The permanent collection is a little short and as I'm not very keen on contemporary art, I think it could be recommended to visit with a guide.

(Translated by Google) Museum located in Fort Thüngen, next to the Museum of Modern Art. Entrance is free (permanent exhibition). The objects exhibited in underground galleries are well highlighted. Almost no one on January 22, 2021, the date of my visit, covid 19 requires. It takes an hour to tour it, or even much longer if you want to watch all of the films offered in the multimedia room. I really liked this little museum which I highly recommend.

Strumble through here because of yahoo map was telling me to takes this route to town. But end up took the bridge route than the wooded area. I think the bridge have a better views than going through here.
